    We toured our hospitals back in March when I was around 8 weeks with my first pregnancy. I didn't have an OB in mind yet, and we didn't like the hospital closer to us. So we based our doctor decision on both her and what hospital she works with. We also toured the hospital again during our birth class last week for a refresher.

    Does anybody have experience with symphysis pubis dysfunction? I tried to describe the pain to my doctor last visit but wasn't doing a very good job. She thought I was talking about premature labor! 
    I've been experiencing super sore hip adductors that radiates upwards. It's gotten worse lately and SPD is what came up when I googled the hip adductor pain while pregnancy.

    My next class we are watching birthing videos, and then we have the tour on the next which would be... the 27ths? or the 4th of december

    I never did a hospital tour with my first and didn’t do a sibling class last time but ds1 was only 19 months. Now that he’s 3 he might like it, I’ll have to look into what our hospital does. Ds2 will still be too little I’d think.

    Are the birthing classes worth it? Our hospital charges $60 for the class...

    @fallonpartyfor2, your insurance may cover some or all of the birthing class. As a FTM I found it very helpful so I felt like I had an idea of what choices I would have to make about how I wanted to labor.

    @fallonpartyfor2 We were super on the fence about taking one because we have heard mixed reviews from people about how beneficial they are. My OB said that if we are on the fence she would recommend signing up for one because we can always cancel if we change our mind, but that it was getting pretty late in the game if we did decide we wanted to do it.

    @fallonpartyfor2 I didn’t do a birthing class. I did sign up for a breastfeeding class and found that to be helpful. I figured we’d get the baby out on way or another but what to do with it once it was out stressed me out the most especially breastfeeding

    Our tour is mid December on a Sunday afternoon. We’re doing a childbirth class this Sunday and a baby care class in December too.

    I'll schedule our hospital tour for January. They do them like 4 days/week, 8 spots each.
    I should start inquiring about birthing classes. How many are needed? 
    TTC#1
    10/2018: MFI (2 SA under 9 million/ml)
    11/2018: HSG shows right Fallopian tube slightly damaged 
    1/2019: Husband diagnosed with grade 3 varicocele
    4/05/2019: varicocele repair surgery
    6/13/2019: BFP!!! EDD: 2/22/2020 <3  Baby girl born 2/27/2020
    7/18/2019: Total Motile Count at 3 months post surgery = 51 millions!! (number must be >20 millions to conceive naturally).

    TTC #2
    9/07/2021: BFP - CP: 9/10/2021
    10/07/2021: BFP - CP: 10/23/2021
    12/23/2021: BFP! EDD: 08/31/2022

    @rikiteacup I signed up for the birth class and then a breastfeeding class at the hospital. The birth class spans two days and the breastfeeding one is just one day. I'm also going to sign up for some online classes I think!

    People doing sibling classes- are you going to have siblings in the room when you deliver? DS is definitely coming to the center with us and I'm wondering how crazy of an idea it is to let him watch his brother be born. My sister is planning to be his support person and she's hoping to get to watch (due 2 months after me). Anyone have a child attend? How'd you prep them? I think we're going to sit down and look at his birth photos and talk about how exactly babies come out soon and maybe I'll ask him if he wants to come and let him decide at the time...

    @craftywitch I've heard of people letting siblings come along, but it is suggested to have someone else (grandma, friend, etc) waiting on call to take them home/away if at any point the sibling changes their mind

    @craftywitch I’m not planning on having DS in the room. He will be at school.

    I think you have to make your choice based on how mature your child is and how you think they will handle you being in that state, as well as how much you educate them. We occasionally have siblings in the room during birth. One kid (maybe 4) just sat on the couch playing his video game and couldn’t care less what was happening around him! Recently two elementary-aged siblings (a boy and a girl) were fantastic, so excited, and not phased in the least.

    I think letting him decide is a great idea!

    @craftywitch I was 4 when my little sister was born. My mom had me in the room but I FREAKED OUT at seeing her in so much pain even though we apparently (I dont remember as an adult but she told me) had talked it all through many times etc... I think prepare to have him there if you want but have someone ready to take him in case he decides he isn't ready/ok with it.

    @babyroma I also have terrible pain in my pubic bone! Hurts when I walk. I haven’t had an appointment in 5 weeks but I am going to bring that up to my doctor! I had a bit of pain with my second pregnancy and this pregnancy has been a lot worse! Hopefully you can find Some relief!

    @babyroma I had SPD last time but mine actually only happened post-birth. For me it felt like my two pubic bones were pushing together when I saw and it made everything really sore and acutely painful when I would move in certain positions. Mt pain eased around 8 weeks and was totally gone 12 weeks PP

    @craftywitch personally I think my daughter would be bored to tears as I’m hoping to have an uneventful labor. Also considering how she freaked out when she saw me get sick I don’t think she’s ready for birth 😂 

    Id love to birth at home but the idea makes DH very uncomfortable so we are going to the hospital.

    Don’t think there’s a dedicated BF thread but correct me if I’m wrong. Looking for some STM knowledge (or FTMs more in the know). Just found out I’ll be returning to work at 6 weeks. (Not ideal). Planning to BF exclusively if I can (open to unforeseen issues that prevent it). Assuming I need to build a stockpile of milk for the work days when she’s in another’s care. Being brand new to this I’m wondering how that works and how doable it is. Realize I can continue to stockpile as we go, but assuming I want to start work with a good supply? Thanks for any info.

    @babyroma pardon the late reply (I’m traveling), but yes, I had SPD during my first pregnancy. It felt like my body was being split in two right above my crotch. Mine probably started around 16 weeks and ultimately got so bad that I would have to crawl up the stairs at night. My MFM eventually prescribed me a disabled placard because I had four flights of stairs to climb in my work parking lot. 

    It took quite a while after birth to go away. Thankfully, I haven’t had to deal with it this time around. I give partial credit to my pregnancy pillow.

    Do we have a thread on nursing chairs? Like gliders/recliners/rocking chairs? I’m stressing about what to get and where to put it. Our “nursery” is a converted closet, so if I put it there it will take up much of the space and I’m afraid I’ll feel too crowded. Our bedroom is also short on space, but a maybe if it’s small. The living room can accommodate it easily and is just outside outer bedroom suite (which now houses the nursery as well). 

    I’m stressing about what type to get and where to put it. If not in the nursery, what are the pros/cons of in the bedroom vs living room? 

    I’ve been relatively stress free this past few months IDK why this is suddenly stressing me out.

    @optimism3 I'm so sorry you have to return to work that quickly! That's tough but it sounds like you're working through the logistics. One good thing is that you don't need a ton of milk to get started; ideally you pump at work and your baby drinks that the next day. So even just having a couple of days worth may be enough, but if you have more you'll have more peace of mind. Maybe around 4 weeks start pumping 1-2 times/day between feedings, or if you have a large supply you may only have to nurse on one side and can pump the other.

    I think the Haakaa (or other brands) is incredibly helpful. I would nurse on one side and stick it on the other and often end up with 4-5 oz extra just during nursing. I had a strong supply but still, it was an easy way to get extra milk.  I hope it works out for you to EBF!

    Raspberry leaf tea! Anyone have experience with it? There's almost too much info online leaning one way or the other but read that some ladies start taking it at 32 OR 38 weeks?

    @brookert615 my thought is that if it really worked to shorten labor, there would be more legitimate published studies saying so. But as long as it isn’t harmful, I suppose there’s no harm in consuming it.

    @brookert615 I drank it last pregnancy and have been for the past couple of weeks with this one. No idea if it really does anything, but I do remember from last time I would get more BH contractions occasionally when I was drinking it so if nothing else it gives me positive thoughts that my uterus is warming itself up, haha.

    @brookert615 I drank raspberry tea and ate dates starting around that time and had a super short labor. I feel like that was a coincidence, but it was nice to feel like I had some control and they’re not bad for you. The dates from Costco are sinfully good btw.

    I did dates and raspberry leaf tea around 35/36 weeks bc it made me feel better lol  Both boys came quickly so I’ll do it again but I feel like it’s more your body and not the tea and dates

    @optimism3 I started pumping right away bc I like having a good size freezer stash. The Hakka is amazing and a really easy way to start saving some milk instead of using the pump right away.

    @brookert615 - I did raspberry leaf tea - a little honey makes it taste better. I did dates last time but I am going to wait until after the GD test :wink: actually I will wait until week 35/36 probably
