Re: October Symptoms

  • @kagesstarshroom yes! No problem to take tums and something else, I take tums for more instant relief if I’m having chest pain/heartburn/nausea

  • @kagesstarshroom that sounds terrible. I hope you can get some relief soon.

  • My tailbone pain has been getting worse and today I (stupidly) went for a two mile walk and now I can barely stand up. Or sit down. Or anything really. It hurts SO dang bad. I’m ordering a donut pillow, but I don’t know what else to try.
  • @miss.sally have you tried a chiropractor that specializes in pregnancy? My friend was dealing with some major sciatica with her second and massage, hot compress, Tylenol, etc weren’t working, but Dr. Chris the Chiro did.
  • @pdx2020 I haven’t. I used to go to a chiropractor a TON and it truly never helped me. I wanted it to. I’m worried about the money being wasted I guess. But maybe I should try.
  • @miss.sally see if your insurance covers it! Mine makes it $25/visit and while it doesn’t fix everything (didn’t help an IT band issue), it does help with a lot with some things.
  • @pdx2020 our copay is $50 I think. Although we have a chiro friend who gives us a decent discount. I may go a couple times and just see if it does anything. I’m terrified that I feel this bad halfway through. I won’t be able to walk by 30 weeks if I continue at this rate.
  • @miss.sally I’m already seeing a physical therapist for sciatic/SI joint pain. Def get ahead of it now!!

  • @pdx2020 ahhh my IT band is the bane of my existence. It screwed me up from doing the marathon. A chiro didnt work for my IT band either. Neither did PT, but I wonder if I quit too early (as soon as I knew I wasn’t gonna be fixed in time to race, I quit). Did you ever fix your IT band?

  • @silverhope Nope. I was a 3-5 mile/day runner for years and haven’t run more than a half mile since 2014. Dr thought it would take procedure/surgery to fix, but I’ve been too cheap and took up biking and yoga. I feel ya 💔
  • @stassischroeder I tried to get one a few weeks ago and I stopped her after the first strip because it was so horrific. #shavelife

  • @stassischroeder It's been about 4 weeks since my last Brazilian wax and I am dreading making an appointment. My esthetician told me it's going to hurt more throughout the pregnancy. It already hurts for me normally so I can't imagine more pain lol
  • @stacey6689 if you're only 4 weeks out it shouldn't be a big deal. I honestly don't think it hurt more than normal yesterday, but it had been like 6 months since my last one... which hurts if you're pregnant or not!

@chichiphin I get horrible razor burn and ingrown hairs when I shave... I can shave my legs and armpits with no problem, but for some reason my vag prefers hot wax lol.

  • @stassischroeder I gave up on waxing during my first pregnancy, because it definitely seemed to hurt worse, and DH preferred me not to anyway. Although taking matters into my own hands is much harder with a bump now too.

  • @silverhope I'm with you on this! I LOVE eating and can't eat nearly as much as normal. I also am not craving sweets like my last pregnancy which I'm a little bummed about, lol.

AFM, I'm still taking Miralax every single night and am still not feeling back to normal. 😭
  • So I definitely scratched an internal hemorrhoid open going to the bathroom yesterday (gross and ouch) 😫 will talk to my doctor next week at my appointment and then my GI if it doesn’t resolve... anyone have ANY tips on this? I had them prior to being pregnant, am drinking lots of water, etc. I have IBS-A which throws a bit of a wrench in “normal” treatment remedies, lol.
  • @lemonlove86 girl we are in the same boat. currently, I'm on metamucil for when I can seem to "go" all the way during IBS-D. It isn't the greatest thing in the world, but when I go through the exact think you're going thru, I use hydrocortisone acetate suppositories that a doc prescribed to me. While they don't help me go, they give a lot of relief when I have an issue with hemorrhoids.

  • @silverhope omg i hope by Thanksgiving this whole "feeling full after a small portion" thing is over for me toooo.

Also, I wanted to weigh in and say 1) The Prilosec seems to be working! Yesterday was a great day with minimal heartburn! 2) I didn't take my nausea meds last night bc I haven't felt that kind of sick in a while, except as it's related to heartburn. Pray for me. and 3) Last night, every time I switched positions/drank a sip of water, I burped like a bunch after. It was annoying/new. I also thought not taking the unisom would make me less thirsty but I was soooooo thirsty every time I woke up.
  • Thank you SO much @chichiphin! I'll have to ask my doctor about those.

And YAY @kagesstarshroom!! So glad you've found some relief.
  • @kagesstarshroom yay! I hope the prilosec continues to work!

  • update: I am feeling *vaguely* nauseated/like I have a bit of a sour stomach today, so will likely go back on the unisom tonight. i could just be psyching myself out, but the ob said it was safe to keep taking, and just to try to stop if i wanted to see if i could. sooo, i would rather take it than not if it means more comfort/less discomfort. FX day 2 of the Prilosec is just as good as day one! So far so good on that end.
  • Anyone else wake up on your back? I always start on my side but I get major hip pain and usually end up sleeping on my back. I know that’s not safe but obviously I can’t help what my body does on it’s own.
  • @miss.sally I have a tendency to roll onto my back as well.  I have what is the equivalent of a body pillow on either side of me and a pillow I use between my legs so that if I do end up rolling toward my back, usually at least one of those pillows props me up just enough so that I'm not flat on my back but a bit angled. Something like a snoogle or u-shaped pillow may help with this as well - do you have any sort of extra pillows you use in bed already?

  • @miss.sally my OB said exactly what @chichiphin said! If it’s cutting off your circulation enough to be dangerous your body will let you know. You can’t help how you wake up just how you fall asleep so try not to worry about it. I second putting a pillow behind your back if you’re still worried. I find it more comfortable personally than flat on my back!

  • @miss.sally I am not a side sleeper. I normally sleep on stomach or back but since reading all the scary things about sleeping I bought myself the "c" shaped pillow that I use to tuck behind my back and between my legs so I can pretty much stay sleeping on my side. My hip hurts from sleeping on my side so I tend to flip sides throughout the night. My OB also told me not to worry about it or I will never sleep lol
  • @miss.sally yup I also just spoke with my OB about back sleep and she said it’s a myth as well, and that ur body will alert u if ur sleeping on ur vena cava or whatever it’s called. I wasn’t getting very good sleep even with a preg pillow bc id wake up on my back in a panic but I’ll try my best to sleep on my sides but if I wake up on my back oh well.

AFM, my external hemmeroid (I can never spell that stupid word) flared up after 2 days of no bowel movement. Wah. I’ve had this thing for years so I knew at some point i would feel its rath again. I’m soooooo scared at what’s going to happen to it farther along in pregnancy. Terrified.
  • @kagesstarshroom oh man, that heart burn sounds miserable! I’m glad Prilosec is helping!

@miss.sally my midwife also said that our bodies will shift if we’re really in danger of cutting off our circulation. She said go ahead and sleep on my back if it’s comfortable. Like you, I usually fall asleep on my side but wake up on my back several times during the night.

i have a horrible cold/cough right now. I’ve been coughing for 3 weeks but just got really congested yesterday. It’s frustrating because there’s nothing I can really take for it, although I did get some sudafed since apparently that’s safe.

Any STMs having issues with incontinence? I feel like I’m frequently peeing my pants a little when I cough or sneeze, which is often right now. I’m considering wearing a panty liner tomorrow because it’s super uncomfortable. Ladies, do your kegels. I’m sure I didn’t have this issue before giving birth.
  • @kantobean I am having trouble with incontinence too. I’m going to ask my OB on Thursday bc it’s getting pretty bad. I wear a panty liner every day. Usually it’s triggered by a cough or sneeze but sometimes it just happens and I leak some for no apparent reason and I have to rush to the bathroom and change my liner. If I have to go, I have to go immediately which is rough for doing stuff out of the house. I try not to drink a lot of I need to be out for a couple hours but then I get nasty headaches and dizzy...

  • @kantobean I (a FTM) peed myself a tiny bit for the first time yesterday & called it a milestone. Sorry you are having more troubles, and hope the other ladies here can offer some suggestions. I had texted my mom when it happened and she said to wear a pantyliner if it got bad/I was worried.
  • @miss.sally I wake up on my back every single day!  And half the time, I'll just stay in that position and go back to sleep.  As others have stated already, our bodies typically will alert us if there's any issue.  And as time goes on, back sleeping might not even be comfortable anymore.

@mrsc918 Boo to your hemorrhoid!  I hope it doesn't cause you too much discomfort in the days to come... :(

@kantobean Girl, same here on the cold.  I have never been so congested in my entire life!  Plus, I live with a cat (which I'm allergic to) so not being able to take my usual antihistamines has been a major bummer.  I hope you feel better soon!

I'm a FTM but I sneezed over the weekend and a little urine sneaked out.  I was so surprised!!  I mean, I needed to go potty pretty badly (because I always have to go), but I was not prepared at all!
  • @kantobean Pretty much every sneeze is a "sniss" now. It's just a way of life for me, especially during pregnancy. It's so glamorous!

@mrsvp614 @varimama ugh same. Glad to hear I’m not alone!

@Malidocious these colds suck! Is Benedryl not ok to take? I can not remember. My MW said sudafed is ok so I’ve taken some but trying not to take it too much. But I’m struggling!

@kagesstarshroom I love that it was a milestone for you!
  • @kantobean I was just at my appointment yesterday and OB said Benedryl is safe. She was suggesting I take it for my headaches when they are allergy related.

  • My sleep has been so messed up the last few days. I go to bed at a decent time and then I wake up WIDE awake at 2 or 3 in the morning. I end up staying up for and hour+ before being able to fall back asleep for a few more hours
  • @kantobean @varimama @mrsvp614 I've been a "leaker" ever since giving birth the first time. This pregnancy has only made it worse. I don't seem to leak when I sneeze or cough, but just kinda dribble at random. My OB seemed annoyingly unconcerned, so I might just have to seek the opinion of a PT who specializes in pelvic floor stuff. I'm keeping the panty liner people in business.

  • Is anyone else in this weird either starving or completely stuffed phase? It’s so dang annoying. There is no in between.
