@silverhope I legit lol'd at your post. I hope I have a lazy one too. Hahaha and one who doesn't want to throw things from age 18 months-30 months. Oh and one who loves sleep at night. Lol.
@mrsvp614 I agree that RLP and lightening crotch are two different things. Also, nausea has come back and night and in the morning for me too... definitely can't brush my teeth without puking. Damn, I was hoping we were past this. It would be good if I couldn't eat, but alas eating sometimes makes me feel better. I hope yours doesn't last too long!
@stassischroeder my nausea is still here also! Gah! I didn’t take my meds last night in hopes things have gotten better. Nope. Still gagging about 50x per minute. I guess they’ve gotten better in that I’m not puking at the sight of food...
I’m having what I can only describe as really bad period cramps. I’m 18 weeks. Help. They aren't regular like contractions so I know it isn’t that. I’ve never had Braxton Hicks in my previous pregnancies so I can’t say whether they’re those or not either. But my belly doesn’t feel tight. I’ll probably call my OB in a bit if they continue.
@miss.sally I wish I’d had Braxton Hicks and could help. My friend said it feels like doing a ton of crunches (without the exercise involved).
At the end of my last pregnancy, I would get serious pain (felt like real contractions to me) if I was driving my car too long (I have zero clue what about that specific positioning did it), but it was so painful and once I could stop driving, I would stand up and wait for the pain to subside. I always assumed that wasn’t BH since it was painful and I heard BH isn’t painful.
I also once had a terrible stomach cramp for over an hour early-ish on (we were at dinner with friends and it hurt so much I apologized to our friends and made DH take me home) and realized later I think it happened bc I hadn’t drank enough water that day.
I hope this isn’t a frequent occurrence for you and maybe it was just water or weird positioning.
@miss.sally did you over exert yourself? I was pulling DS and pumpkins in a wagon today and definitely had some cramps after. They went away after I rested for a little bit. I’d drink some water and lay down for 30-60min and call if it’s still happening after.
Me: 33 | DH: 34 Married: October, 19, 2015 EDD 2/22/17 DS1 born on 3/2/17 EDD 3/8/20 DS2 born on 3/10/20 EDD 11/24/23 (Formerly Marriedhamstermom Feb ‘17)
@silverhope and @varimama unfortunately they’ve been coming and going all day no matter what I seem to do. I did call my OB. I chatted with the nurse, and while she didn’t seem overly concerned, she said it definitely wasn’t normal and I need to rest and drink water and she would call the OB to talk to her and call me back. I highly doubt anything serious is going on, just want to err on the cautious side. I started having real contractions with DS in the 20-ish weeks. They went away and then came back at 34 and never stopped until my due date. So I won’t be overly surprised if that happens again, and maybe earlier since that seems to be the theme of this pregnancy. Yay. I’m guessing since I’m only 18 weeks they wouldn’t feel like real ones anyways? I really don’t know. But I’m not overly worried. I used my doppler and found little boy immediately kicking happily in there, so that’s good. I’ll just try to get lots of sleep tonight and hope I wake up better tomorrow!
Wow I just caught up! A lot about movement and Braxton-Hicks and contractions... oh dear! i hope everyone is feeling a bit better.
@miss.sally I hope all is okay! Let us know when you hear what it could be. Feel better
I may have already mentioned this but two things I have been struggling with lately:
1) daily headaches - sometimes even migraines. Like only one or two days a week I don’t have a headache. I’ve been drinking water, almost 2L daily, but anyone else experiencing this?
2) heart palpitations and general awareness of my heart beat. Like all the time.
3) Q: what does movement feel like for FTM. I’m 15w3d and I could have sworn I felt a strange sensation on Sunday.
i have a midwife appointment tomorrow and I’m going to ask about this but any info would be so helpful
@dunder_mifflin definitely something that could be baby! Flutters, bubbles, butterflies. It is the kind of thing that you'll start to notice more often once you do notice it, and it will become more obvious with time what feelings are from baby.
Still cramping. Also this morning I’ve been extra out of breath and my HR went up to 150 just putting my clothes on. Obviously not normal. Talked to my OB and she told me to go to ER. Thankfully H is still home so he can stay with DS while I go. Joy of joys. I hate the ER.
@miss.sally Hugs! I had that HR issue with my last pregnancy. I want to say it started around 24 weeks. I ended up having to be monitored for 24 hours. I hope everything is fine--it was for me!
Thanks friends! I’m still here. They told me I have something called SVT, and I’m probably going to have to do a 24 hour monitor with the cardiologist. Not today thankfully. Just had an ultrasound and she let me have a super quick peek at baby, but the tech wasn’t great and was all about getting it over with 🤷🏼♀️. He was wiggling around in there though!
They just brought me lunch and it was grilled cheese and tomato soup, which I have been craving, and it was EVERYTHING. I’m definitely ready to get out of here and go home though.
@miss.sally glad you at least got a good lunch? Do they think ur SVT will go away post-pregnancy? I hope they help you manage it so you don’t have to have another episode during pregnancy. How scary.
@miss.sally that is so scary! Glad you went into the ER and they were able to get to the bottom of it. Also hallelujah to the grilled cheese! Had one last night and it was such a game changer!
@silverhope and @treetop19 Glad to know I'm not the only one who was making the correlations, right or wrong!! I will say, however, sorry @silverhope but my DD is much more the spitfire on the outside!!
Update: I also have a UTI. So that’s why I’m having cramps. I’ll be going to the cardiologist next week to have a 24 or 48 hour monitor depending on what they decide. Getting out of here sooooon. Four and a half hours later and my phone is at 3% battery. Eeek!
@miss.sally I'm so glad that you went in and that you got a diagnosis--and some grilled cheese and tomato soup! I have been wanting that, too, but I'm scared it will exacerbate my heartburn?
AFM: Pregnancy Brain strikes! I was driving home--the same trip I take from school every time I drive home--and I missed one turn--and didn't realize I missed the turn (SMH) until I was like "wait where am I?" and then I had to use my GPS to take me home a way I'd never gone home before bc I wasn't even close enough for it to want me to turn around and go back to where I missed the turn lol.
@miss.sally feel better soon! Love your optimism with your lunch and hopefully cardiologist can give you some more answers and make you feel better about it all! Hugs!
@miss.sally so glad you got some answers, and i hope the cardiologist can clarify things even more. FX it's a fluke and you don't need any significant treatment for the SVT!
omg my heartburn is out of control--and AWFUL at night. i feel like i have tried everything and nothing works? i do all of the preventative stuff, but if i eat one wrong thing during the day, i'm screwed. i currently can't sleep bc I can't lay down at all w/out making it worse/can't stop burping. this is a long post just in case anyone else is suffering from heartburn--i'm saving you the research lol and hoping something here works for you.
here's what i have tried... ginger (doesn't do much/anything for me) zantac (made me nauseated when i took it at night--might have to try taking it earlier in the day? i don't remember what/if anything it did when i took it earlier in the day. also, it might cause cancer? but DH says that's just the offbrand stuff? agh.) pepcid ac (doesn't do anything for me) gas-x (tried for my excessive burping--didn't help with that for me) baking soda dissolved in water (just made my stomach feel bad/made me nauseated after a few sips) coconut water (idk if this did much--but I drank it yesterday and yesterday was a great day, and also drank it today, and today i ate a sandwich that maybe was a little spicy? but really wasn't spicy? agh so whatever the coconut water did yesterday was cancelled out by slightly-spicy sandwich) eating oatmeal (didn't really help cure it, but maybe made it less worse? i don't know.)
stuff i am going to acquire tomorrow to see if any of it helps: -nut milk -licorice supplements and/or tea
other stuff that the internet says to try: apple cider vinegar (but then *somewhere else* it says vinegar causes heartburn) chewing gum (but elsewhere on the internet it says this can make it worse -_-)
once i have it, it seems like i am doomed to suffer until i fall asleep. but here is the preventative stuff i've been pretty active at trying: -eating smaller meals -sipping not gulping beverages -sitting up after eating and then when i try to go to bed, sleeping in as upright a position as I can manage -avoiding spicy/garlicky/flavorful foods (though this has been hard--i never know what's going to affect me until it's too late? so i am just going to eat as plainly as possible) -wearing loose clothing (check) -avoiding chocolate & coffee & alcohol (yup, tho i did have some iced tea today) -no citrus juice or carbonated beverages (chk)
doc on friday said to try prilosec if the zantac/pepcid weren't working, but the internet says that might not be a good drug for pregnancy. and i trust my ob, but also i'm paranoid. i just.... want.... to sleeeeeep. without having heartburn/burping/having to get up to maybe puke a bunch of times. alright. i'm gonna go try to lay down (slash lay in an elevated position -_- and hope i can just fall asleep despite this terribleness.)
@varimama I was using them for nausea and ran out, but I have some leftover at school still that I'll bring home and try at night/or I'll just buy some more. Thanks for the suggestion! Typing this last night made me feel better enough to eventually get some sleep. Just concentrating on something else was helpful--sitting in the pain undistracted is so hard. The ob said I shouldn't have to take the tums anymore if I took the Zantac once a day, so I think I'm going to try to take that earlier in the day today & see if that does anything, either.
@kagesstarshroom that sounds like the WORST! Definitely keep trying Tums, I take 3-4 at a time. Plus they're basically just calcium, so bonus for you and baby!
I take a prescription for GERD (not Prilosec) and it significantly improves my quality of life. I literally can't function without it. I also don't drink caffeine - that's my main trigger. I say if your doctor says Prilosec is good to take, take it! You don't want to be miserable for the next 20+ weeks. Ask if you can get an RX for it- it can get pretty pricey if you're buying it OTC.
@lemonlove86 Thanks for this note! I don't think my OB realized how effing terrible my heartburn has been, which is likely my own fault for not emphasizing it. I will try the prilosec--thanks for the support on that. You're right, I should trust her Not The Internet. And I'll restock on Tums today, too--you take that along w/ your prescription? If the Prilosec doesn't do it, I'll call the office and see if they can't get me a prescription. I really don't want to suffer forever, you're right.
@kagesstarshroom I'm so sorry that your upper GI is just.... a mess. hopefully the tums help you out.
i have been getting a lot of cervix stabbing lately. really NOT loving it. I also think I felt my first movement when I was falling asleep on saturday... essentially I had no gas/gi problems yet had some fluttering below. but I haven't felt it since. hope it ticks up a bit more!
