Re: GTKY 9/24 - Where are you?

  • Southeastern PA!  I've lived in PA since I was in elementary school, but grew up in upstate NY prior to that.  Used to live in a Philly suburb, but moved a little bit north since then :)

  • @diagonalley I grew up in Bucks County but now live on Long Island, NY
  • @whatsbumpinpumpkin No way!  How did I not know that before?  What part of VT?  I never end up with anyone close to me on here, haha!

  • @sunshinesea22 where in CT did you grow up?
  • @shamrocandroll Near Manchester VT. My brother is over in Fitzwilliam. I considered birthing at Dartmouth, because that's where my heart doctor is, but I think I am going to go with UVM.
We moved up from Brattleboro about 5 years ago. We only have 600 people in our town- I really wanted that tight knit community of a very very small town. When my son was born, our neighbor noticed we hadn't cut our grass in a few weeks - so he just did it.  Definitely the environment I want to raise kids in, not the HOA wars!

  • @whatsbumpinpumpkin Ah, no way!  We're practically neighbors!  :)

  • @mamaqdubu I’m from the northeast corner, about 5 minutes west of RI and 15 minutes south of MA. How about you?
  • @sunshinesea22 I live northeast of Hartford, in Tolland county... so not that far from where you grew up probably!
  • @emlettuce I grew up just across the river from you!
  • @whatsbumpinpumpkin
we drive through the Manchester, VT area when we drive to NY. One time we stopped in Manchester for dinner at the Raven's Den after driving through terrible storms. Turned into a $120 meal and a 14 hour car ride instead of 10 hours. We decided we wouldn't stop in Manchester for dinner again  :p  We do love the little gas station sandwich shop outside of Bromley mountain though and plan our trips to make sure we hit there for lunch or dinner.

Dartmouth is where I get to deliver if there are any real complications with the pregnancy. I will go from delivering 1.5 hours south of my home to 2.5 hours south. (Just looked it up I guess it's closer than I thought it was for some reason I thought it was 3+ hours away.)
  • Lots of northeasterners here! I’m also in NH with @jhysmath and @shamrocandroll but we are in the southern part of the state. We moved here last year and bought a house to settle down. Before that we lived all over because DH was active duty. DH is originally from MA and I’m from NJ.

  • Another Northern Cali girl here!
  • Philadelphia here! It’s also where I grew up. I think I’m getting tired of living in a large city though and I’d love to move anywhere with more green space... which is nearly impossible here without like $3mil haha.

  • I’m loving all the NorCal representation!
  • @treebagel I feel you on the need for trees. Lived in Chestnut Hill for two years, which is practically a suburb within the city, but now we’re in the real suburbs and I’m all about it. We’re lucky around here to have awesome (affordable) little towns in any direction. I vote move to the burbs!!
  • Bump

Reviving since we have had many recent intros since Oct 1st.

  • I’m in the Finger Lakes region of NY born and raised, I don’t live in my hometown but the outskirts because it’s way too expensive to live in the city. I love it here, now I might be saying this when this winter storm hits later today but I can’t imagine living anywhere else, well maybe the Carolinas or Louisiana but then I have to deal with hurricanes so I’ll stick to what I know snow.

I’m in Ottawa, which is the national capital of Canada. I’m originally from Nova Scotia though (east coast) and would love to move back there.
