I live in rural NH, but I'm originally from Boston, and grew up in the MA suburbs. I love where I live now. I live in the woods on a lake, and I have a 7 mile commute to work every day, with no traffic lights, and I go over a lovely covered bridge. The only thing I don't 100% love is how long and cold our winters are. I could use like... maybe a month shorter. Two, ideally. But I don't know if I could ever leave New England. Maybe when I'm old and retired.

I live in Rural NH too, on the Canadian border. I love the little town I live in. Our commute to work now is across the school baseball field. The population of the town we live in is less than my high school. During our summers off we live in rural western NY on the PA border south of Buffalo.
I am from Southern NH from the largest city in the state (still not very large) and would trade it for small town life any day. The only thing I really miss is being able to go to the grocery store and get fresh produce year round.
I would love to live somewhere on the mid-Atlantic where you still get 4 seasons, but it doesn't snow October - May.
Born and raised in the Bay Area. I live in the North Bay and love everything about it except 1) the cost and 2) the politics - people can be crazy (on both sides of the spectrum). We've toyed with the idea of moving out of state, but we both have professional licenses that limit us to CA and neither one of us wants to go through getting licensed in another state. So for now, we're content to enjoy the weather, the redwoods, and the food.
DH and I are both originally from Chicago suburbs. After college, he joined the military so together we’ve lived in Florida and Washington state (he lived several other states, too) during his 5 years in. When he decided to get out, we wanted to move back closer to family, but Illinois sucks sooooo...
I'm in Wisconsin as well. Born and raised here and still live in my hometown. I love it here, we get all four seasons, the city I live in is large enough but still feels not too city-like. Most of all I love being near all of my family.
We are in Vegas. It’s hot and deserty. I’m originally from MD and MH is from NC so I think we both miss the east coast. But this is closer to our families than the three years we spent in England.
I'm in Colorado in the mountains. I'm originally from NJ, but have lived here over 15 years. My husband and I often talk about moving, pretty seriously, but so far we haven't found anywhere that would be any better to live than where we currently are. Having a baby definitely changes how we look at things a little bit. The housing market here is still pretty hot, so we could walk away with some money towards a new home, but the big question is still where???
Like @ruby696, I'm also born and raised in the Bay Area. I grew up in the South Bay, but it's outrageously and prohibitively expensive to buy a house here, even on two decent salaries, so we live in the Santa Cruz mountains and commute into Silicon Valley for work. I really want to move back into the valley, but it's not really an option right now.
@pirateduck A friend from my past BMB just moved from CO to VT and she looooves it! She is originally from this area, though, so she knew what she was getting into ahead of time.

@soprano19 Hey there neighbor! We were lucky enough to buy our house in 2011 as aforeclosure, otherwise we would not have been able to afford something in our area. Are you dealing with PG&E PSPS events too? I'm expecting to lose power this evening. 😕
I live just outside of Nashville. I'm from...all over, really. I'm a Navy brat, so I was born in Oakland, CA; then on to San Diego; Jacksonville, FL; Yuma, AZ (fullfilled Dad's "overseas duty" since that's a Marine base); to Oregon when he retired; and now in Tennessee. I like to say I'm from the back of a moving van. If I could move anywhere, I'd probably go back to Florida. I loved it there.
I live in Ohio and at this point, I'd like to argue I'm from Ohio, since I've lived here for over 12 years. However, I was born in Michigan, and spent most of my childhood overseas. My dad works for an offshore company. If I could live anywhere... I'd probably pick North Carolina because I'm in love with the idea of living close to a beach but I wouldn't want it to get too hot, so any further south would be out.
Born, raised, and currently live in the New Orleans suburb area known as the “Northshore.” I’ve moved around the Northshore a bit, but haven’t strayed too far from where I grew up. If I could live anywhere, I’d maybe pick South Dakota. When DS was nine months old, we drove to Montana to visit my mom and stepdad while they were working there (he does pointless dent repair, and they follow hail storms around the US). South Dakota was gorgeous when we drove through that July, and I’m constantly itching to visit again.
Currently I’m in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia but we have lived all over Virginia in recent years. We plan to be here at least 4 years though! I’m from a combo of North Dakota and Illinois but have also lived in Montana, Texas, and Missouri! My family is mostly in Texas now. I’m not sure where I would choose but my H was raised in CO and is itching to get back there so that’s probably where we will end up eventually.

I’m from CO and am going there this weekend! I miss so much about it...
Born and raised on the coast of SC, currently living on the outskirts of ATL. DH was AD army the first few years of marriage so we spent two years in South Korea and the rest of it in CO. We’d love to move back out there. I’m sick of 90-100 weather for 6 months straight. 🥵
i’m from Colorado. We moved around the state quite a bit when I was a kid but always stayed in western CO besides a few years in UT.
I would love to move back to CO. Probably either Ft Collins or Boulder area. MH and I have recently talked about moving back to CO but nothing serious. Moving is hard!
Another Wisconsin girl here... I miss living in a bigger city and legitimately LOATHE the winter here, but it’s a great place to raise a family besides that 🙃 and the cost of living is low, so that’s a plus!

Where abouts in CO are you? I live in CO too - south Denver!
I live in Colorado - a little south of Denver. We have only been here for a little over a year, but my parents moved to Denver about 10 years ago. MH and I both grew up in Texas (Houston and San Antonio) but we decided to make to the move last year to be closer to my family. We LOVE everything about Colorado, except the absurd cost of living (especially compared to Texas) also teachers get paid CRAP in CO which in unfortunate. I don't think we will stay here forever...but at least for the time being. Eventually, we both really want to make it up to the pacific northwest.
@chewie5990 I hear ya on the cost of living. A recent study just posted Breckenridge (where I work) as the third most expensive place to live in the country. This is partly why we have NOT moved yet, we know that once we leave and sell our house we will NEVER be able to afford to come back if we wanted to. I couldn’t afford to buy the house I live in now at current market value. It’s crazy.
@ruby696 currently no planned outages in our area, but we do live in the forest where fires are a big concern, so I kind of wish PG&E would be more proactive in our area. But our town only has 4,000 people in it (and our entire mountain area only has 15,000), so they don’t care as much.
We live in coastal Georgia and may be moving soon for DH's job. I am super jealous of everyone living in the mountains. Just like @rox7777 I am extremely done with the constant hot weather.
Currently living just north of Seattle, but originally from Northern California (waving hello to my fellow redwoods lovers!). We moved here just over 2 years ago but are trying to move back to CA to be closer to family, so if I could live anywhere right now I'd pick California in a heartbeat since that's our goal right now.
I live in the Hudson Valley NY, about 30 miles north of NYC for the past 6 years. I love they little village we are in, however it is super expensive. @chewie5990, I am also originally from Texas so this was quite a shock! I am super excited for the leaves to change! Fall isn’t quite the same in TX...

I’m a Colorado girl but we had to relocate to Oklahoma for DHs job.. and good gravy is it flat, hot, and miserable here. We plan on going back ASAP to CO though! I grew up in the mountains there and that is where my heart is- I can’t wait to go home!
I'm currently living in northern VA but originally from the Philadelphia area. We may be moving back there this winter! I've always thought I'd like to live in CO. Maybe someday!
@mokay19@shamrocandroll lol! But that’s where I grew up! We may live there again one day... I can assure you that I do not identify with the desert 😂 I miss the green of the East Coast.
I've lived in Connecticut my whole life. Both my and DH's families are still here, so unlikely we'll want to move, however I have a lake/mountain vacation home grand scheme in my 15 year plan up in the upstate NY/NH/VT area if we can swing it.
I live in the Philadelphia suburbs in MH’s home town. I’ve moved around a bit. Born in NJ, moved to CT where I spent the most of my life, DE and MA for college, and an extra stint back home in CT between colleges. I enjoy where we live, close to the city, shore, and mountains.
I’m also in metro ATL. Until this summer we’d been living in Birmingham for several years. However, we took the chance to move back to Georgia and are currently piled in with my IL’s. Going to be looking for our own house again soon and I absolutely cannot wait. I too am absolutely over the non stop heat though. Thankful to be close to our families again but if presented with the opportunity to live somewhere cooler, I can’t say I wouldn’t think about it a little.
