@uno_mas - I highly recommend Julia 😉. In all seriousness, it’s served me well! I have only met a handful of other Julia’s in my life, but my name isn’t unfamiliar or difficult. One annoyance I’ve had is people calling me Julie, and to a lesser extent, Julia Gulia. Julie annoys me the most, because that’s a different name. People at work always email me as Julie, even though my email address and signature all say Julia. Please don’t assume I have a nickname, unless I tell you!

I think usually you see that in names that are somehow related to pop culture? Like there's a HUGE spike for Elsa in 2013.. HMM WONDER WHY.
Anyway, the levels of the graph change-- as in, like, with Elsa, it goes all the way up to 280 million babies (in 2013), but if you type Eleanor, you can see the highest THAT name ever got in terms of the # of millions of babies being named that is like OVER 3000 MILLION. So keep the # on the side in mind. Yea, Elsa spiked in popularity in 2013, and then got lowered in subsequent years, but Eleanor had been on an up trend for a while and had like 800-900 million babies and looks like it's still going up.

@julia_xo Julia seriously is a beautiful name😊. I’m so happy that I like the names my husband is suggesting because I already promised that if we ever had another kid he could choose whatever name and I would go along with it. He’s a huge Phish fan and messed with me for awhile saying he was going to name the baby Trey Anastasio. Glad he’s taking a different direction.
@kagesstarshroom that’s a great tool. Just one thing to clarify though. There were not 3000 million Eleanors born in one year; that’s 23 times more than the number of babies born per year worldwide. It’s says there were 3,120 per one million babies. There were about 4 million babies total born in the US last year, so there were approximately 12,480 Eleanors in the US (3,120 times 4). That’s way different than 3000 million! Just some perspective in case you like a name and are worried there will be hundred of millions; it’s more likely just thousands

I'm a bit on the fence with our current girl name but he loves it and it's one of the few I suggested that he hasn't shot down, ha: Adalind Rene with the middle name after my mother. We're struggling between Adaline or Adalind.

It kinda reminds me of a day home kid I had once, whose name was Abby. But not short for Abygail, like most Abby's are, her full name was Aberdeen. I thought that was pretty cool. This is kinda the same. Like, ppl won't expect it to end like that, which I think ads a cool twist without making the name weird. Just my opinion.

Loving everyone’s name ideas! We are pretty set on our names. For a girl we like Lucille Faith and for a boy we like Walter Michael. I guess you could say we gravitate towards bringing back really old school names, making them unique but not too out there.
Now that we’re for sure having a girl, I’m totally lost. H likes Esther. We considered it for DD but honestly I’m not loving it. He wants to do biblical since DD’s name is biblical but I am thinking not. Plus, I’d like to honor someone in our families but all our grandparents had weird names! Haha
My 4 year old daughters name is Nora, she has 1 other Nora in her preschool class and we personally know 2 other Nora’s (4yo) in our circle of extended friends 🤷🏼♀️, either way I still love the name it’s so classic!
@kantobean I love Esther! I'm also a big fan of Ruth, but I'm biased. My husband wants this baby to have a Japanese middle name because DD1 does (she's named after my grandma). We're having the same problem because we don't love any family names but wanted to use one.

@dunder_mifflin I love both names, but I am partial to Rose because it was one of our top names this time if we were to have a girl. DD1 still wants to name the baby Rose even though he's a boy. Haha. I think Rosie is the cutest nickname. Nora is beautiful as well. I have a few facebook friends with Noras, but none that I see in real life. Can't go wrong with either choice!

My Brain: I already have a similar dissertation topic and am dismantling her argument in part in mine, now I am considering naming my firstborn the same name as her? She is totally going to think I am copying her lifeeeee. Reality: This chick has no idea who I am and will never know lol.

@dunder_mifflin Nora is our top choice for a girl's name. We just love it. Although I do know a few people who named their daughters Nora within the past 5 years or so. Don't know if we'll ever get to use it though!
So we went out to dinner and tossed out a boy's name we both like: Finn (first name) Charles (middle name/my dad's name). Since we are team green I feel overwhelmed so I like having one we both like at least!
Our newest front runner for a girl is Aria Jade. DH has loved the name Aria since we were trying to name DD2 three years ago, but I’ve always shot it down despite thinking it’s a beautiful name due to popularity. I think he sold me on it this time.
@EmilyLove25 There are so many names I like that don't fall under my "Rules" for names--I need at least two syllables, preferably three, and no "extra" letters. But these are NOT rules I judge other ppl for breaking--they are personal. Point being: I v. much like Finn as a first name! But wouldn't use it myself bc it breaks both my rules haha.

@EmilyLove25 There are a few song-inspired names I like? But I also would love to name a kid a family name. That legacy seems more powerful than a culture-inspired one? A friend of mine is named after a Fleetwood Mac song, though, and I found that so memorable. But I love "old people" names, and love how they circle back into the collective consciousness. I also did my ancestry back 12 generations on my dad's side, and that is fascinating stuff to me. Finn always reminds me of Huckleberry Finn, such a classic American character--that's probably why I like that name a lot, despite it breaking my rules. Such a good kid. Great novel (not w/out controversy, but that's why I liked teaching it--to get into the roots of its divisiveness.) I used to teach it all the time. Oh and speaking of pet names & literary inspo lol my dog is KIND OF named after Jasper from the Twilight series, but not exactly. He was Edward's sister's boyfriend or something? He had the ability to control ppl's emotions? I feel like dogs are good for that--like, to calm you down. And I think I was thinking of that when I decided that was his name. We rescued him from the street, so we knew he already had a name, so I was trying to find his name rather than give him one? I just typed so many words.

We don’t have a ton of female names I love in our family so for me the two names I have picked out for baby girl- Norah and Rose - have some family connection, namely through phonetically being similar-sounding and fist letters.
If if we were having a boy, my favorite names were Edmond after my father in law, Alexander after my grandfather, and Theodore after my mom who’s Theodosia (goes by Theo a lot so baby would be called Theo). The other boy names also had very strong family ties. DH vetoed all 3 but I was ready to go for battle for Theodore! I feel like Edmond is a no-Brainer but that’s his dad and he said no so I can respect that. Thank goodness it’s a girl otherwise DH and I would be duking it out all winter 😂
