I'm definitely waiting to announce until after my NT scan next week, and any other tests they do. I don't want to go HEY I'M PREGNANT and then some disaster regarding the baby's viability. I'll probably put it off until my nephew's birthday in late September, when all my family is together.
Don't know if I'll announce it on social media or not. I think I'll just let my individual friends know as it comes up.
We aren't going to post anything official on social media until after the anatomy scan and any genetic testing results, either.
I'm back from my NT scan! All is well (I think?) but I am disappointed because the baby was not at all cooperating. It was never in the position that they need for the scan, so we have to rely on blood work alone (which they said was only a 2% difference in terms of accuracy, but still I am bummed and nervous). The baby was on its tummy the entire time, practically on its head down on the side of my uterus. They tried to make it move, but the baby stretched out its arms and legs and shook its butt at us before curling back up into the same exact position. I met with the OB after the scan and she said that everything was looking good, but I still can't help but be worried that there was something they could have caught on the scan but weren't able to since the baby was being a cute little sleepyhead (jerk). I like to think that if anything looked abnormal on the sonogram, the OB would have mentioned it to me then and there.
I wasn't expecting this turn of events, but all stills seems well.
Just got back from 12 week US with new OBGYN and could not have been freaking out more before the appointment, but all ended well! My old gyno didn't send over any of my old charts so it was a lot of me answering her questions. She ended up doing a transvag US today and had a hard time finding the baby right away because of my bicornuate uterus and had to RESTART THE MACHINE! I was squeezing DH's hand so hard- I was so nervous, lol. She said she doesn't love a 12 week US because they can be pretty inaccurate at this stage, but I measured ahead 5 days at 13w4d. She ordered NIPS blood work and I'll talk to her when those come in and then see her again (hopefully won't have to come in after hearing results) in a month.
Thank you all for your input! I will have my first trimester bloodwork results at my visit Tuesday and everything looked great at my NT ultrasound yesterday, I’m just bummed we didn’t get better pictures to bring home because baby was literally dancing around the entire time 😂 the tech said “you have a very active baby already”. I’m really excited for our extended friends and family to know and be able to give us support and encouragement during our very first pregnancy. Only our immediate families and my best friend knows for now. We plan to announce next week after I get to review my results with my Midwife from the first trimester screenings ☺️
@emilyace my DD was like that in early ultrasounds! She would scrunch up her legs and then shoot from one side of my Ute to the other. It was hilarious. She now in gymnastics 😂. Totally not surprised.
@miss.sally Oh no, I wonder if that's what I have in my future. My LO did NOT cooperate during the NT scan... was busy scrunching up and then stretching out as far as possible and shaking its butt around. Very active, not great for NT measurements.
@emilyace We didn't get great pictures at our NT scan either... definitely bummed because I was hoping to make a cross stitch pattern from it. Oh well, lol.
