@um_thor That is so rude of her. I definitely don't blame you for not going if she is going to be like that. Hopefully it doesn't put your husband in a weird spot.
My husband is equally annoyed by it and totally okay with us not participating. To be fair to her, it’s not just out of spite... my FIL passed last October and she’s saying that she’ll be sad and so thinks it should “just be us”. She’s actually his stepmom, also. Nonetheless, it was a totally unreasonable.
@um_thor I mean I get that it may be a sad holiday for her, but that means even more she should surround herself with love. With a baby coming she should get used to the idea that your families may be mixing for holidays quite a bit.
School started this week which means I'll probably be on here less often. I started a new position this year and no longer have my own classroom which felt weird when students arrived today and I didn't have my own group. But it's also a very relaxed feeling which is nice at this point in my life.
@jvk2012 I feel you on starting school, I have been back 3 weeks and I feel like I dropped off the face of the BMB! It is getting better.
My weekly random is that I went to Buy Buy Baby to buy a snoogle (I found it was cheaper than Amazon with those handy dandy 20% off coupons ) and had a change to look around and the baby stuff and put my hands on some strollers and poke around at cribs, monitors, and chairs. It was a fun little adventure
Called my mom to let her know we made plans for coming in for my baby shower and got talking about my sister (she's 15, we have a nice 14 year gap between us). I guess she went to switch her school locker the other day and ended up asking her advisor if it's okay if she took a week off of school in February because she wants to come up with my mom when the baby is born. The advisor asked if she was one of those habitually late/absent kids, and she's not. In fact she is an overachiever if anything (she was doing college courses her freshman year). The advisor told her she should be fine. The my sis told my dad he should come up too....like he wasnt already coming with my mom, think shes excited about having a new niece/nephew? 🤣
@babyroma - ugh my sister is like that. She is on public assistance, homeless half the time but yet still manages to have animals to depend on her. And then has to beg money for food and stuff. So ridiculous. I find it just easier to not have relationships with people like that.
I am in CT and cannot wait for cooler weather Bells was a December baby and it was nice snuggling up for the cold winter months. This time at least we will have May and have some outside time. Although with Bells there were a few warm days where we got to spend outside and we still went on walks, etc. We did go visit my family and she developed bronchiolitis and ended up in the hospital at about 6 weeks which was scary. I am hoping to have better luck this time. DD will be at school but should be immune to a lot because she has had so many sicknesses already!

So yesterday I had a day off to take DD to her new pre-school for a two hour visit and it was really nice. She has already made friends in her new classroom and they are putting her in a small classroom with only 10 kids in it. However, some of the kids are still in toddler area as they are not potty trained so there are only going to be 6 kids in it when she starts next week. They have a really cool playground and were out there for an entire hour. It is a lot more independence and I think she will totally thrive.
Then we went to our fav diner for grilled cheese and a milkshake and it totally messed up my tummy so after nap we watched TWO movies - Secrete of NIMH and The Little Mermaid. DD was scared of the NIMH movie and I remember being really haunted by it as a kid and felt bad. Last night she was like mommy mommy I don't like spiders.

@babyroma my youngest brother is like that about my babies. He is 8 years younger than me and a boy, but he just loves the kids!! He is a great uncle already and I’m sure your sister will be a great aunt!

Rant: at 11am sharp each day my coworker microwaves his stinky lunch of broccoli and chicken (both of which are major aversions for me/baby). He literally NEVER switches it up. After two months of nausea and aversions, the daily stink is getting pretty old. Currently sitting in my office with the door closed to keep out the smell.
Rave: had an OB appointment today and got to hear baby's heartbeat for the very first time 😍 Even heard a few louder thuds which was baby kicking. So relieved that all is still well. When you go 4 weeks between appointments, you start to wonder and worry.
@malloryfrommn stinky food is the worsttttttt. I get to hear the heartbeat next Thursday and I can’t wait. Once movements start, the wait between appointments isn’t as awful.

I pulled out my pregnancy pillow from the basement and took off the cover to wash it. I’m currently snuggled up on the couch with the coverless pillow. I forgot how amazingly comfy it is!
@ibabyloveb87 here's hoping that the next week flies by! I can't wait to start feeling movement - I can see how much that will help put my mind at ease.
Hey mamas! Totally went MIA for a few weeks there 😭 I’ve been planning a Disneyworld trip with the fam as a late bday present for DS1. Come to find out hurricane durian is a level 4 and heading straight towards Orlando this weekend 🙃Luckily Disney has a hurricane policy that is one of the only time they allow refunds and our situation qualified! So no trip, but also no tickets going to waste and expiring before we could plan another trip so I’m looking on the bright side! Hope all the Florida mamas in here stay safe while that’s going on! I read they're already in full panic mode running out of groceries/water bottles/ generators etc 😟
@chipsnsalsa20 yea one of my FL friends said they are already out of gas at the gas stations - not sure how they will get through an entire weekend like that! I've been watching the hurricane for work - it went from a Puerto Rican concern to a mainland concern quickly. I'm glad for poor Puerto Rico that they didn't get hit badly again but I'm hoping something causes it to lose steam. (And no, not Trump nuking the thing - not to get political haha).

@ibabyloveb87 I’m also counting down the minutes until the long weekend! We are taking the boys to my parents’ house tonight to spend the night. We usually rent one of those bounce house water slide things and they LOVE it. I’m excited about the weekend, but really wishing I could drink since my family loves wine (and so do I!).
Our church does a church-wide family camp for the September long every year, so we are heading out to that. Then on Monday I get to work on my final paper while my husband builds a shelving unit for the baby's closet.
Not super exciting plans over here. Working some to catch up on some projects. Going to deep clean our apartment and go through my clothes, I have far too many that I don't wear. I also need to go shopping for 2 of my nephew's birthday presents. I usually do some fun thing with their gifts. My niece, ingot her some fun little trinkets then put like 20 dollar Bill's in water balloons (sans water since they were being shipped) for her to pop. I'm impressed most made of them made it intact to Arizona!
It’s my mom’s birthday weekend so we are grilling out tonight and then we have a party to go to tomorrow night. Our wedding band is playing. Other than that, playing it by ear based on what Dorian sends our way, but hopefully the beach and/or boat.

I've got a 4 day weekend and was planning to relax some and start some baby planning (registry, looking at daycare options, etc.) DH and I also have some shopping to do this weekend - our refrigerator AND bedroom ceiling fan crapped out on us this week! LOTS of adulting fun to be had 😂
Woo I am pooped! I went through my clothes today and got 3 bags of clothes ready for donating, deep cleaned our bathroom and put in 5 hours OT catching up on a work project. I still have to go tp the gym before I pick up hubs from work. I asked H if his fave part of my pregnancy was the nesting. His response? Depends...as long as there isn't a human sized clothes nest involved! Lmao
The same friends we got our crib from now have a stroller and 2 car seat bases for us in the brand we were already looking at (Graco), so that is going to save us a ton of money! 😁 Since that is now dealt with, we are thinking about going with the Graco Forever (or whatever it's called) since we'll be able to spend more on the car seat. Back I go to the car seat thread to see what was said about it.
Pregnant problems: I’m working today, and wore different maternity jeans than normal, I have no place to clip my ID, I usually clip it to my pocket and this has zero spots! let see how many times I lock myself out today.
The maternity pants I have worn recently have a fake coin pocket that I could clip to.
I've been in STINK hell for the last few days! 🤢 Our fridge & freezer stopped working on Thursday, so we literally threw out EVERYTHING inside today (luckily not much was in there due to my major aversions to cooking smells.) None the less, the smells were awful!!
ALL new kitchen appliances are arriving next Monday. We are trying to sell all the stuff that still works, so we've got to clean everything well. That meant running the oven cleaning cycle yesterday. Also an awesome smell that lingers forever.
Windows have been wide open all weekend and we have multiple candles burning. This could not have happened at a worse time!!
