I'm having mine today - 18w4d. It seems a little early, but it was their idea, not mine.
Had the scan. The tech couldn’t get a good shot of the outflow tracks around the heart. My doc said not to worry and that it’s common. I have to have another scan at my next visit to see if we can see them.
Just had mine — exactly 20 weeks. It took a looong time to get everything (more than an hour) but eventually they were able to get all of the angles they needed. We’re team green but were able to watch most of the time...the tech asked us to close our eyes a few times but nothing major. Fun and uneventful overall (posted pics in the ultrasound thread)...so nice to see the baby moving around and playing with its umbilical cord. 😂
We had our anatomy scan this morning and on the way there Hubby tells me “let’s find out the gender!” We were Team Green with our first and decided on Team Green for this one too so this was a surprise. I wasn’t ready for that so we agreed to let the tech write it in an envelope, and then we can talk it through....
Anyhow i think appt went well. Took about 20min. She said she got all the pics she needed and feels they are all good pics but the radiologist will review and let me know if they need me to come back for anything. We also brought our daughter in and she pointed to the monitor and said Baby! so that was cute. She was also happy to get a bunch of princess stickers from the tech!
@ashorkey - have you had your scan? I was supposed to have mine Friday but they just rescheduled since their policy changed from 18-22 wks to 19-22wks. I was really looking forward to seeing the little bean and it's a nightmare getting scheduled for an ultrasound so I am super bummed.
@jandawg that stinks that you have to wait! But, on the plus side, they will probably be able to see everything a bit more clearly as you hit 20 weeks or beyond. I just had mine yesterday at a few days shy of 21 weeks. My doctor advised waiting until 20 weeks because she said the heart can be better visualized by that time.
I had mine done yesterday at 19 weeks. This was my first ultrasound with this tech and I hated her 😂 She was either having a rough day, didn't like her job or instantly didn't like me. I'm leaning towards hates her job honestly. She pressed so hard it hurt badly! I've had more ultrasounds then most people at this point and she was the only person to push that hard.
Everything she could see looked great! But due to the positioning, she couldn't get a good enough read on her brain, spine and couldn't see her nose very well. We will have to come back later for those.
I was worried since I am having such a hard time eating that she would be underweight but the tech said she weighed what she is supposed to at her (age? Week?). So I'm happy.
Anatomy scan success, sex is still unknown! Baby was the opposite of squirmy, and we actually poked a little to get him/her to scoot so tech could get a couple of the images she needed. Got to watch baby have the hiccups, which was pretty crazy. Happy that baby is measuring in line or ahead on everything, and apparently on the fatter side. I was a 9lb 10oz baby - sorry mom!
@anniemarie887 Oh that's so fun you got to see baby with the hiccups! Baby boy is measuring right at the 50% mark for most things, which is bigger than our daughter. I told my midwife I was terrified of having a 10lb baby and she laughed which I didn't find funny. But she did say that our daughter wasn't 10lbs (6lbs 12oz) so this baby wont be... I'm holding her to that!
So apparently the doc at the MFM office had a family emergency so I got rescheduled. Was supposed to go in tomorrow but they pushed it back to Tuesday.
@ale9687 did yours get moved? I have to go to the LB office in Tuesday instead of down here tomorrow...
We had our anatomy scan this evening and they confirmed with the DNA test that it is for sure a girl! It was pretty neat to watch she just had a hard time getting all the images of her heart due to her position and after I threw up from all the pushing on my abdomen which kinda killed the happy mood 😑 but we are on cloud nine that we can officially announce we have a little girl on the way. I'm excited to start shopping!
Just left my anatomy scan. She was able to see everything she needed to this time so unlike with my son I don’t have to go back for a follow-up.
We aren’t finding out the sex officially, but I feel like I’m pretty good at analyzing language/actions of the ultrasound techs and based on how she was talking and how freely she was showing me live images of baby moving around (and activity trying to get baby to change positions onscreen) she either didn’t care if I accidentally saw a penis, or she knew there wasn’t one there to see. So I’m suspecting it’s a girl this time.
I just had my AS, and had a very uncooperative baby that decided to stay curled up in a ball the entire time, so I get to go back in a few weeks. Fortunately, everything they could see was measuring as it should and looked great.
@holly321 I always wonder why they make you come back weeks later, so they really think the baby won’t move in a day or two? Just something I think about whenever I see posts where people go back 2 weeks later.
Just had our AS. From what they could tell everything looks great! We got some scary news that I have placenta previa, but we go back at 28 weeks to see if it moved. Hoping and praying it does!! Have any experienced moms had placenta previa and went on to have a healthy delivery (birth or c-section) and baby? I’m nervous because I have health anxiety but trying to focus on everything else looking great!
@lemonpoppy I have placenta previa and after talking to my midwife (who’s been practicing for 25 years) she’s never had a mom whose placenta has not moved out of the way. She said she had one wit a close call, but it moved at 36 weeks when she went in for one last u/s before scheduling her c/s
@lemonpoppy I had placenta previa with DS1. Didn’t budge for weeks and weeks. We schedule a c-section for 37 weeks. Placenta moved between 35-36 weeks (c-section was cancelled then). Don’t worry about it too much at this stage. IME they will monitor. I was on pelvic rest for awhile. We had a plan, straight to the hospital at any sign of labor, discussed which hospitals, etc. Then we waited. Ended up not an issue. Most resolve.
@Stac928 thank you for letting me know! I’m starting to feel a lot better about my chances of it moving. I’m on pelvic rest now too but all of that is fine as long as baby is healthy
@ale9687 I think the rescheduling is more to do with when the next appointments available. I know that my hospital books up real quick in the ultrasound department.
We had our anatomy scan today at exactly 20 weeks. It was fascinating to see the blood moving in and out of the heart, and through the umbilical cord. I was really impressed that they got all of their images in a half hour. The woman doing our ultrasound was a great narrator and I appreciated knowing what she was looking at and looking out for. It seemed like everything was normal and fine, and we found out we're having a girl.
Anatomy scan today at 20wks 2days. Confirmed that baby is a girl. She was VERY active and even flipped positions during the appt! She loves to play with her feet and was the cutest thing ever. All parts growing well. She’s a healthy baby so far. Already so in love 💛
Had mine yesterday at 19 weeks and 5 days. I am grateful that everything looked great and baby is healthy. I am a failed team green member. Decided last minute to know the sex. We are having a boy! I have a 2 yr old son and was optimistic for a girl so my reaction was "ohh, it's another boy"! The tech was like "and boys are the sweetest to their moms" 😉 made me feel better at the moment lol. Honestly grateful that my boys will have each other. I feel so relaxed when it comes to baby clothes and all. Won't be shopping anytime soon.
Has anyone with older children brought them to the a/s? I’m debating bringing mine (7 & 5), but my one hesitation is what will happen if we get some not so great news.
@McKBaby my hospital doesn't allow children in the room during the anatomy scan. It specifically says it in the instructions when I made the radiology appt so I would double check their policies.
@Spartanrd4 The Antenatal Testing Unit at my hospital allows children to be present if there is another adult there to supervise. My husband will there, so that part is not an issue.
@mckbaby I have seen a lot of women bring their older children to AS at my obgyn’s office. I didn’t, but my kids are not patient and have HFA, so I don’t think they personally could handle it (ds thinks ultrasounds look gross too, lol) I do think it is a seeet sentiment though.
Mine was today. Honestly for the majority of it I couldn't tell what I was looking at lol. I didn't get any "results ". The tech said they'd follow up with my midwife, and that she'd contact me with more info.
@McKBaby we brought our daughter (almost 4) with us. We made sure to bring a couple of activities with us to distract her when needed. She started to get a little antsy at the end but I also had to move around a bit to try to get the baby to flip so it took a bit longer than expected.
We had ours a couple of days ago at 21+6. This little guy was moving around the entire time while they tried getting the shots they needed. Rascal ♡. He had an erection, so yep, definitely having a boyyyy.
@McKBaby I brought my husband and daughter, 8, and she did great. I was a bit nervous, but everything went really well. Plus, she’s been to every other appointment so far, so she’s been really in the loop on everything. If you’re nervous, I think you can probably ask them to bring family in midway through to make sure everything looks good for the most part. 👍
@bookworm492 JEALOUS. My doc said because baby boy was measuring small, they're keeping the official at December 14, but to not be surprised if it's December 19--they're only keeping it at the 14th because the two dates are less than a week apart. But yeah, I've most likely earned the opposite...an extra few days of being pregnant. >_<
@bookworm982 ultrasounds around 8 weeks are most accurate for dating purposes- most babies grow at the same rate in the beginning until genetics takes over and growth rates start to change from baby to baby. But like post above due dates don't change unless you are a week or more off- you just have a bigger than average baby! ☺️
