Re: July Randoms

  • I’m so Glad someone brought up the first look 😱 I had to get 16 stitches and also got a hemorrhoid this time. Never had one before. Do they go away? Also, I’m so jelly of the ladies who didn’t tear. Trying to sit for the first 5 days PP was just a NIGHTMARE

  • I looked my first time and it was horrifying! Stitches everywhere! I refuse to look this time. Anyone else just gonna do their kegals and keep fingers crossed?
  • @Niesen27 I am now! Haha

@nagrom9319 I’ve heard they do resolve but will come back easily with subsequent pregnancies.

Our AC died! In this heat wave.
  • @Cbeanz that is honestly tragic! I hope they can come and fix it asap for you! Get a good cross breeze going through your house by opening windows, turn on all your fans and run a dehumidifier.
  • Oh no @Cbeanz! Hopefully it can be fixed soon!!
  • 40 + 2 today and just wanting to forget I'm pregnant until I start feeling something .. ugh

@Cbeanz Thanks so much! We went back and forth on Arya and how we might spell it... We actually are the only people on the planet who don’t watch Game of Thrones, so I worried a bit about whether that connection mattered.
We ended up going with Arya because the name crosses cultures, including DH’s India heritage, and it is easy to say.
Her middle name is Kingsley. This was my paternal grandmother’s maiden name - we just lost her this spring, but she was excited about another great-grandchild on the way. I wanted the two of them to have some sort of connection.

@keebler6elf What is this Game of Thrones you speak of?? Srsly I didn't realize Arya was a character from that! I've also never seen it.

Had my first postpartum cocktail last night 🍸!
And afterward was up all night with the baby  :#
Someone tell me I'll be able to drink again - like more than one drink!!!
  • @Cbeanz I don't think I ever recovered any tolerance for alcohol. One drink does me in. I haven't even had a craving for it and we are feeding so often I would honestly feel guilty drinking anything right now
  • @Cbeanz you will... unless you have another baby 😂. There’s actually new recommendations regarding alcohol saying not to pump and dump because the amount of alcohol that ends up in your breast milk is less than the amount in cough syrup for kids. Take that with a grain of salt and do with it what you will. I’m probably not gonna drink anyway but found that interesting.

Oh there's no pumping and dumping here - and zero guilt! It's completely safe. I just need a night with hubs where we're not holding babies.
@leylea89 This is so 100% definitely the last one!!!!! 😄
  • @leylea89 Congratulations on welcoming your baby boy! I am sorry that the medical team at your hospital were so rude to you, I don't understand where people get off thinking that they have any right to treat a laboring mother with anything but the utmost care and empathy. I'm glad your little one made it out safely and that your mom was able to come through with holding him until you were able to. I hope recovery goes smoothly and that you are able to relax during your stay at the hospital and make it home soon to rest and bond with baby Amadeus <3

@leylea89 been thinking about you so I was glad to see your birth story posted. I'm sorry to hear that your wishes were not respected during your labor. It sounds like there was a communication breakdown and it spiraled out of control. I hate hearing stories like that - and it's far too common to hear about a laboring mom whose plan is disregarded. I hope you can process and work through the emotions, especially of being separated from your baby for an hour.

Congratulations on Amadeus! Glad he's here and healthy. Post a pic if you get a chance.

    I probably shouldn't even be asking/caring but...

We are all still wearing maternity clothes, right? I was getting so frustrated that none of my regular clothes fit yet bc I have very little truly "summer" maternity clothes. I have like 2 pairs of shorts. I've always had winter babies so I moved straight into baggy sweatpants but it's too hot now! I can't remember how long until I will fit into regular clothes.
  • @Cbeanz with my older son I had a May baby so maternity stuff was all winter. I just bought some bigger shorts and jeans from Jcrew outlet to get me through the summer. With this one I’m just in T-shirt’s and leggings because everything gets covered in milk and spit up.
  • @Cbeanz I'm living in pajama shorts and nursing camis. When I go out, it's loose dresses, which is basically what I wore during pregnancy.

Thanks! I need some nursing friendly dresses anyway so I'll probably order a few.
  • @Cbeanz yes! Though I did get some nursing friendly clothes last week (loft has some really cute wrap dresses and jumpers right now and on sale!). I tried to put on some of my looser pre-baby clothes and we aren't even close yet  :(
  • @leylea89 I'm so sorry that your hospital dropped the ball, it doesn't sound like they followed standards of care. Hopefully your doula helped salvage your labor experience. Wishing you a much better postpartum experience and all the baby snuggles you can get!

@Cbeanz I'm back into some of my prepregnancy clothes. Pretty much just my shorts that were big on me prior and 1 pair of jeans. My hips are definitely still separated. I basically wear tank tops because it's what's easiest with breastfeeding

  • I gained 30lbs this pregnancy the first pic was the day she was born. Second pic is 2 days postpartum and the last pic is 2 weeks postpartum. I'm constantly thanking my mom for good genetics when it comes to having babies. Still have maybe10 lbs to get rid of though

@leylea89 he is beautiful! Thank you for posting pictures of his sweet face!

  • @leylea89 oh he is so cute! Be the fiercest momma bear for that little boy. Also I hope they call you to do the survey about your hospital experience so you can tell them what a poor job they did listening to their patient. As a nurse I couldn't imagine treating or letting a doctor treat my patient that way. It really does make my blood boil.
  • @Cbeanz I went and bought myself some new shorts because maternity shorts were fitting weird, but pre pregnancy ones didn’t work any better. Old navy shorts were suggested to me and I was able to find some cute ones there that fit nice!

I bought a couple of nursing dresses from amazon and have also found a few cute nursing tops. At home it’s yoga pants and a nursing tank!
