Re: July Randoms

  • @Cbeanz thank you! She's doing great and love helping out. If she could hold him all day she would.

@mamanbebe that's awesome about the sib doulas. How did your ds like them?

@blackhottamales umm yes! I wished the room had something like that.

Emerson had his first check up today and already gained an oz from being discharged on Saturday.

  • @asupernovablizzardstorm way to go baby E! DS loves the sibling doulas :) they are coming over again tomorrow to read and play with him for a bit after school to help make him more comfortable with them before it’s baby time

Just when I thought I had zero room left for baby to grow... s/he grew even more. I'm struggling to breathe at this point.
  • @Cbeanz It's hard to imagine another couple weeks of growth
  • @cbeanz thank you so much!! Saying my prayers that you find some way to breathe! Lol you are so close... keep the goal in mind!
  • @Cbeanz Oh no! Hopefully you get relief sooner than later. Hang in there!
  • Of the 53 women in the FB group, 28 of them have given birth!
  • @mamanbebe yay! Hope things go well!
  • @mamanbebe I hope you had one of those pee pads in your car too! Best of luck!

I am seriously so excited to hear about this home birth.

At my appointment yesterday, baby looked great by BPP. I'm at 5cm and had a membrane sweep. My OB offered to induce me today and I declined. He strongly suggested I come in at some point to have my water broken bc he doesn't want me delivering at home or in a car. I'm about 20 min drive from the hospital. Without traffic I do believe I could get there in plenty of time.

I really want to go into labor naturally and with zero intervention. I had some contractions yesterday after the membrane sweep about 5 min apart for 3 hours but they slowed and stopped. I'm currently trying to figure out if I hold out longer or give in. I'm afraid it's just pressure/fear mongering/convenience to go in and get my water broken. I'm willing to take extreme measures such as hanging out by the hospital every day to avoid traffic.

With my third baby, my water broke at 39 weeks (I was 5cm then also) and it didn't send me into labor. I needed to get pitocin to start it. Above all I want to avoid pitocin again.

Thanks for reading, ladies. Input is welcome.
  • @Cbeanz based off of your previous experience with your water breaking, and not sending you into labor, I would hold off until as long as they let you. How far along are you now? I feel like as long as you and baby are both doing well, they should be fine with you going until at least 41 weeks. Maybe they could try another membrane sweep since it did give you contractions yesterday. Could try that, and then if that doesn’t work, discuss the possibility of having your water broken.

With my second, breaking my water sent me from 4cm to baby in 2 hours. Since I knew my body responded well to having my water broken, I knew if it happened on its own, it would be a mad dash to the hospital this time, which is why I was okay with the induction, my hospital is about a 30 minute drive without traffic.

@nolemomma14 Thanks for your response! I was really interested in what you would say since I think we have really similar birth philosophies. My OB respects my choice for natural birth but he wants me to avoid a car birth since this is a VBAC. It's my second VBAC, but still technically considered VBAC.

I'm 39+2 today. I'll schedule a 40 week appt and ask for another sweep. I imagine he will be pretty ticked off to see me in the office again but so be it.

I think you made the absolute right choice with having your water broken. If it worked for me in the past I probably would've agreed to it today.
  • @Cbeanz that sounds like a good plan! All that should matter to your dr is that you and baby are doing well. I totally understand not wanting you to have a baby in the car, but with your previous history, it seems unlikely. Never say never of course lol

  • @Cbeanz thanks for the message back on the 4th... Just catching up here.  Also, wanted to share that my water broke before anything else and they wanted me in the hospital right away.  I tried to get through labor on my own for several hours, with minimal progress, before they convinced me that it was best for the baby to use Pitocin, and then later on an epidural, to push things along at that point.
  • @Cbeanz love your determination. I don’t have anything helpful a a FTM to say.

But I do feel pretty similar to you. At my 38 week appointment, my doctor was pleased that I went from a 1 to a 2 and with a soft cervix. I’ve been eating dates and bouncing on my ball, drinking nasty red raspberry leaf tea lol. It’s my first but I’m trying to avoid pitocin and induction also so I can go natural.

My doctor is willing to let me go to 41 weeks no problem. She’s out of town so I have o ask my interim doc how she feels about interventions not sure if I want a sweep since they’re less effective with first pregnancies. It seems like everything but pitocin is ineffective first go round 😑.

I hope you get the birth you want and soon! 🤞🏾

@mamanbebe CONGRATULATIONS on your successful VBAC! What an amazing accomplishment! I'm so impressed you powered through even with a rising temp. You are strong and amazing! Thank you for sharing your birth story - I'm teary eyed reading it. Such a huge accomplishment. Baby Warren is beautiful!
  • @mamanbebe congrats on the birth of your son!! So glad you got your Vbac. I hope you’re released today and get to go home and rest.
  • @mamanbebe congratulations on your little guy!! I hope you’re all doing well, and I’m so glad you got to have your VBAC!!

  • @mamanbebe! I was so happy to see your birth story this morning. Congratulations!!! I can't believe you stayed calm in rush hour traffic as your water broke--what a star!

  • Aw! @Cbeanz you did it! I’m glad you got your ideal birth! Little Oscar is perfect and handsome! 😍💙💕.

I also really appreciate how you said the contractions were as painful as when induced with pitocin. It gives me a little bit more fortitude to try unmediated knowing that if I had to have it, my contractions might have hurt that much anyway.
  • @Cbeanz congratulations!! Welcome to the world little Oscar! I’m so glad you were able to have the birth that you wanted and that your lovely little family feels complete with the close of this journey ❤️❤️❤️
  • @Cbeanz congrats! Welcome Oscar. Loved your birth story. Thank you for sharing.
  • @Cbeanz, what an amazing birth story. Congratulations and well done! I'm really happy for you.
  • I am so tired. I haven’t slept more than a few hrs total since Friday. I really wish LO could figure out nursing and let me swaddle him so I could feel less insane.
  • @mamanbebe big hugs! Sleep deprivation is no joke! So far my LO hasn’t liked the swaddle either. She likes to have her hands by her face. Is DH home with you at all? Maybe you can sneak a nap in during the day. It’s so hard though with a toddler at home. I hope you can get some rest soon!

OMG the sleep deprivation. I forgot how hard this was. It gets better @mamanbebe ! Once we can establish some sort of routine I'll know when I can nap.

We have my mom here still which I'm really grateful for, but coming home from the hospital we are STILL OUTNUMBERED! Haha! There are entirely too many kids in this house.
  • @nolemomma14 @Cbeanz <3 It is so real with other kiddos at home. I have squeezed in one tiny nap since labor began, my body seems to prefer exhaustion and nodding off for 1 min at a time.

I have so much more appreciation for how ds1 slept from the start now.. in addition to letting me put him down for more than 3 secs. LO is on a mission to literally always be attached to my boob and never to let me sleep again. After crying by myself in the guest room at 2am, I finally fell asleep with LO nursing on top of me for about 3 1/2 hours. I feel halfway human today but definitely ordered a snug fit zip up swaddler on amazon same day delivery as soon as I got up.

Now.. can I panic about looking at my vagina? I was not prepared for that.
  • @mamanbebe so glad you were able to get some sleep, even if LO was sleeping on you. Every little bit helps! I hope the sleep sack helps!!

Just because you can see your vagina again doesn't mean you should look. I'm not brave enough to look at mine yet.
  • I wholly agree haha. I got curious about the tear and now I'm terrified to ever look again.
  • @mamanbebe I’m glad you at least got a little sleep. I’m so impressed with you STM(+)

umm...no I didn’t even think about looking at my vagina. I had a second degree tear but I’m just going let it heal and be done with it.
  • I kind of want to know how the stitches are healing/dissolving, but I am with you all - cannot bring myself to look and don't plan to try.
