I have my first OB appointment next week. I just went to see my primary doctor. They did urine test and had blood drawn; they'll send the results to my OB. I'm going to call & see what I should be prepared for.
For those in my weekly update group know that I was suppose to have my first OB appointment this past tuesday but because of silly shenanigans got moved to the 22nd. Grumbles all around. But I put myself on the waitlist and an appointment popped up for the 10th!! yay!! I totally snagged it. Girl can't wait until the 22nd! So happy I can be seen sooner.
I’ve been awake off and on since about 5 AM with nerves for this morning’s appointment. So anxious! I hope you have great appointments today, too, @stashattack and @peppyj9
Apparently no plans for a scan currently, just a doppler and OB exam. I’m waiting in the exam room now and have already been sobbing because I’m so nervous. I just want everything to be okay.
@kbrown2385 Thank you! @peppyj9 It went well!! I heard the heartbeat for the first time, which of course made me cry all over again. Heart rate was155 and she found it immediately. I’m so happy and relieved. Got my blood draw for NIPT, too.
the appointment went great. I didn’t even know we were getting another ultrasound today so that was an exciting surprise!! I really loved the dr so that’s awesome. We moved back one oct from out of state and I hadn’t had a chance to find a practice until now so this was the first time I’ve met the dr.
Also so since everything is normal so far they won’t increase my appointments like ever. Instead they use this app called babyscript. The app sends you a blood pressure cup and once a week I’ll take my blood pressure at home and it’ll Bluetooth the results to the app and send it to Penn to let them know how I’m doing. Which I kinda love. I was not looking forward to the twice a month appointments 🤣
now I just gotta wait for my NIPT results to come in.
@stashattack glad you had a great appt and like your dr! It’s amazing what technology can do now. Your office is so fancy. I’ve been to some that can barely do an ultrasound lol.
Just got back from my research study appointment which is all about learning how the placenta develops through the pregnancy. I finished the long-ass food survey this morning before I went. It was super detailed about what I ate, how much, if some of the food had added fats or dressings. It was crazy LOL.
At the appointment did the normal blood draws, urine, and then only an ultrasound today. But it was a long ultrasound because they were measuring the baby, and then the umbilical cord, the placenta, tracking the heart-rate of the baby and mine. It was super extensive. The dr also gave us A TON of images too, including some 3-d ones which we thought were soooo cool. She looked like she was waving at us.
DH was super surprised at how much she was moving around. She was super squirmy. haha. Next research study appointment will be around my 20-week anatomy scan and that'll be the first MRI so that should be fun. I think it's like a 4hr appointment.
@stashattack That sounds so cool! It’s neat that you get to contribute information for data/research and also get to see/hear so much about your baby! I wish there was something like that going on here. My mom was a part of some pregnancy study once, but it wasn’t anything like that. So they do an MRI too? I had no idea we could get those while pregnant lol I’m sure it’ll look really cool!
@blackcat01 yeah I didn't know they were safe either. But it's just the MRI, no contrast or anything. So it's pretty safe from what I understand. I mean the regulatory research board wouldn't let them do it if it wasn't safe. Or at least that's what my husband said. He's also in research so he knows the hoops they have to jump through to test on animals, let alone humans. LOL.
I'm so happy to be apart of this study. I keep saying it's baby's first science experiment LOL. She'll be published probably before she's in kindergarten which is super cute and cool. Though no one will know cuz of our code names LOL.
Appt went great today! We saw both babies moving all over with strong heartbeats. Baby a measured ahead close to a week, but we couldn’t get a good measurement on baby b because of how they are situated. Dr was happy with how they looked and will be sending me to the high risk ob so we can get a better look and see where we go from here. Very relieved and finally announced!
@kbrown2385 im in tomorrow so 🤞🏻it goes as well for me as it did for you today! just out of curiosity, did you ask could they tell the sex yet? I want to ask tomorrow (or at my next appointment in 2 weeks time) but am a little nervous as sometimes the sonographers are a bit arsey about it, like its trivial when you should only concerned if theyre ok.
@leprechaunlady we didn’t get good pictures at all. The dr could barely get a measurement on baby b. I think we will be able to tell more when we go see the high risk ob since they will have better machines. You’re further along so fx you’ll be able to see something tomorrow!
@kbrown2385 sorry, I forgot your edd is a little further behind, I’ll be 16 weeks tomorrow & have an appointment at 17+6 before my anomaly scan at 20weeks which is why i want to ask
@leprechaunlady I’ll be 14 weeks tomorrow. I found out ds was a boy at 13.5 weeks so with a good quality scan I’m sure you can see! You’ll have to let us know!
I had a twin clinic appointment yesterday & after how stressful the last one was, i had built this one up & was completely underwhelmed! Usually at the clinic appointments, i see a host of different people & give a load of blood samples etc. This time, I gave urine, had my blood pressure taken & seen the midwife for a chat. I did get a quick scan but it was purely to see heartbeats as theyre not 100% comfortable using the doppler for twins & a sonogram is easier. My husband doesnt come to many of my appointments due to work commitments & he was kinda pissed that they didnt measure growth etc yesterday & also that they told me when i go to the endocrine clinic in 2 weeks im not to see the OBs team as theyre not responsible for me or the twins care that i only need to see the endocrine consultant and leave. Anyways, it was a good straightforward appointment, i still got to see the babies (albeit briefly & wasnt able to ask about the sex) & was out before 3pm & had the rest of the afternoon to myself til i collected DD from nursery at 5, so i went home & had a nap (cause going back to work is for suckers!)!
