Re: July Appointments

  • @leprechaunlady glad you had a good appointment and took advantage of some alone time. I totally don't go back to work after an appointment either hahaha.

  • @peppyj9 good doctors make such a difference. So glad to hear you have a supportive and kind one!
  • @peppyj9 im so glad you had a good appointment & that your ob was nice! Its so important to be comfortable and at ease with who is delivering your baby & it will make all the difference to you when the time comes!
  • Just scheduled my MFM scan and it’s not until 9/13. I feel like that is so far away!
  • sorry what does MFM stand for?
  • Maternal fetal medicine. The appt is to determine what the twins are (like mono/mono or di/di) and to get a clearer view of baby b so we can verify good growth. It’s also to see if I’ll be considered high risk or not. I’ll be 22 weeks and feel like it’s a little late to just be determining that.

@kbrown2385 - Are they doing an anatomy scan? How many weeks will you be by then?

Edit: Never mind, I didn't refresh the page.
  • @kbrown2385 that seems very late to be determining the type of twins! I had that determined at my early scan at 9 weeks & then confirmed at my booking scan at 12 weeks! Is there a reason theyre waiting so long?
  • @leprechaunlady I sent a message to my dr. My scan last week was poor quality and he wasn’t able to verify there was a membrane of any kind. He also couldn’t get a good read that baby b was growing well. He said we were being referred for that reason. I called the mfm back and asked for an earlier appt. I was told they schedule according to what the referral said and it stated nothing we discussed at the appt. I’m sending a message to my dr now to ask why none of that was sent. I also asked if that was normal to still be determining what type of twins so far into the pregnancy, after when most anatomy scans take place. Hopefully I get a good response back.
  • @kbrown2385 fx you can get in there sooner! They determined mine were di/di at fertility specialist at 8 weeks and confirmed at MFM at 12 weeks. Not sure if it is practice specific, but I was automatically considered high risk with twins at my OB intake appointment at 10 weeks and so I will be seeing MFM every 4 weeks for a growth scan of the babies and to measure my cervix due to preterm labor risk.
  • @amb0924 @leprechaunlady I am not happy. I sent a message to my provider asking him what the deal was. The only way I can get an earlier appt is if he tells them i need one. With my loss history I think its kind of crazy we are still in limbo regarding this. From measurements at my scan last week baby b was measuring 3 weeks behind, so to go and verify that they are ok is something i feel needs to be done. I tried my best to not be too snotty in the message. Im hoping he understands and does something about it.

  • @kbrown2385 I also get seen every 4 weeks at a twin clinic. I would be kicking up a hell of a stink about it, if I were you! If your babies share a sac & placenta then it could be very high risk & requires close monitoring to ensure that the non dominant twin is growing adequately! & only determining that over halfway through is crazy!
Would they not be able to determine that at the anomaly scan too?
  • @kbrown2385 that is so frustrating, I hope they get you in earlier for a peace of mind!

@leprechaunlady im sure they can see it at the anatomy scan.....but why should i have to wait another 5 weeks for that??? I dont even have that scheduled so who knows when it will be. Im just not impressed with either offices today.

ETA: exactly! I want to know if they are sharing anything so we can get a head start on anything we need to do.
  • @kbrown2385 - Ugh! I hope that your OB can send that info over ASAP and you can get in sooner. You should be considered high risk right now with all that's going on.
  • @kbrown2385 you definitely should not have to wait! & you are completely right to not be impressed with either office! I really hope that they get their shit together & get you in asap!
  • @kbrown2385 ugh! How frustrating! I'm sorry you're dealing with this. I hope they get their wish together, and soon!
  • @kbrown2385 That sucks! I would totally lose it. It’s crazy that they don’t have a sense of urgency, especially if one is measuring 3 weeks behind. I really hope they get you in sooner.
