Re: IF Testing and Treatment w/o 7/22
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): We did our testing at the beginning of this cycle. Our appointment to discuss the results just happens to be when my next cycle is scheduled to start.
How are things going?: It's been a big deal for me to get negative test news. In processing why, I realized that, up until now, I thought I was being dramatic. Since I'm AMA, we did testing even though we haven't been trying that long. So I expected to hear "Everything is normal. Just keep doing what you're doing." Now I'm just praying nothing else is wrong, and that my blockage doesn't mean I need surgery.
Any questions?: I have a million, but I'm not sure where to start. I'm sure I'll get there.
GTKY: how many pairs of shoes/boots/sandals do you own and which is your favorite pair?
I've recently pared my clothes down quite a bit. I think I have 15 pairs of everything, but I wear probably 5 of them for work regularly. Right now I have a pair of brown booties that I'm loving. I've had 2 back surgeries, and I refuse to wear uncomfortable shoes. These are cute *and* comfy!
Diagnosis: so far unexplained, awaiting SHG & pelvic ultrasound hopefully next week.
Status: pretty sure WTO. CD1 right hurr.
What are you doing this cycle? You mean besides descending into hopelessness and despair? (lol jk that's just my CD1 talking...). Actually Clomid round 3, and as I said before SHG. Because if I say it enough it will have to happen.
How are things going? Fairly crappy, but trying to stay happy. Again I am writing this from the airport on my way to a conference and I'm glad I have a lot of distractions this week. The weekend was honestly sucky. I could feel AF coming but most of all we were at a wedding surrounded by ***TW*** families with 4-8 kids and it really bummed me out, more than I thought it would. Am I really the only one in my family who has any trouble with this? Maybe some of the latent fertility in the air rubbed off on me? END ***TW*** So my head space isn't great today but I'm here.
Any questions? Yes. What may an SHG show besides blocked tubes? Other uterine abnormalities?
GTKY: Honestly probably less than the average female. Maybe 10-12? My favorite is a pair of riding boots I got at a consignment shop a couple years ago because they were already broken in but not beat up at all. I love them, and they aaaaalmost make me ready for fall
@jennifer_louise BLARGHHh I am sorry for CD1. In good news, we're only a couple days apart (day 3 here), which means we're going to be in the same group on the April BMB right? I think the HSG will also show the shape of your ute so they can see if it's abnormal. I just know when they gave me the results it just said my tubes were clear and uterine cavity was normal. Side note, 4-8??? That's just excessive haha. Sorry you're struggling but I'm glad you'll have some stuff to take your mind off everything.
Diagnosis (if you've been): unexplained
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO, CD3
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): letrozole + trigger + monitoring + hoping I'm a magical unicorn that my first month following this protocol works
How are things going?: I was so excited for the weekend with my cousins and then it ended up being pretty crappy (for me). We went out Friday and my one cousin said some horrible things to me that I can't get over. We just carried on and pretended everything was normal (after my 3 cousins were in a screaming match for 40+ min on Saturday) but I was just grinning and bearing it. Not to mention in the middle of everything Saturday, I got my period and was 20 min late to DH's step grandpa's funeral because the screaming match had put everything so far behind schedule for the day. I felt f*cking AWFUL. IF wise - I need to schedule my ultrasound and call the company back to get the trigger shot delivered but other than that I'm just cruising along and hoping I don't F everything up.
Any questions?: do you still do OPKs and BBT if you're being monitored and taking medication? I assume my BBT will be skewed anyway after the trigger shot so I guess I'm more curious about the OPKS
GTKY: probably like 12? I have more sandals than everything else just because they're cheaper. My favorite shoes are beige booties, I wear them with everything! I also love my All birds.
@jennifer_louise uuuggggh sorry for CD1 I'm glad you're getting away for a little, even if it is for a work conference, but the distractions are always super helpful. I also often wonder if anyone else in my family (because my family is so large with cousins and 2nd cousins... or is it 1st cousins once removed?!.... coming out the waaazooo) struggled like I am, or if I'm the only unfortunate one there... sigh How is an SHG different from an HSG? They seem similar..
Diagnosis (if you've been): Unexplained Infertility.... sigh
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): TWW
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): We just finished all of our testing and met with the RE this past Friday to discuss the results and what his plans are for us. All tests came back great and normal, or better than what he expected for my age, which is all great news except there is no real reason why we can't get KU then. But I am grateful I don't need surgery and we don't need to go thru the donor or IVF routes, because we weren't going to go down that path at all. So his plan for us is to do Letrozole and IUI (trigger only if needed) for 3-4 months. He went back and forth trying to decide between Clomid and Letrozole for me, but settled on Letrozole since we need to avoid the chance of multiples as much as possible. He said we could try on own onw for a few more months, but after that he'd really like to start with the IUI plan.
DH and I are still waiting for the results from our genetic testing, which we should get this week, and then we will decide how we are going to proceed.
How are things going?: Okay. I've been in a funk this current cycle and we've barely HIO at all, let alone during our FW. I think I subconsciously needed a mental break from everything. I feel hopeful with the RE's plan and I just want to get this show on the road already.
Any questions?: Those of you that have done the IUI route - what's it like?
GTKY: how many pairs of shoes/boots/sandals do you own and which is your favorite pair? Ummmm.... I'd be afraid to count! I certainly have my favorite few that I wear way more than others and it depends on the season, but I also have fun heels like I wear on occasion. I can say that DH actually has more shoes than I do!

@shoogapoff Fx your other testing comes back normal.
Diagnosis (if you've been): Unexplained RPL and Secondary IF, also PCOS.
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): Benched WFIVF
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Still benched. 9 more days of BCP then get AF and schedule Saline Sono. Then probably more BCP before starting stims.
How are things going?: Meh. I'm bitter and frustrated and those feelings are starting to feel like just my normal feelings and I hate that. But I'm moving this week so at least that is a distraction.
Any questions?: Nope but I am sure once IVF really gets going I will have tons.
GTKY: how many pairs of shoes/boots/sandals do you own and which is your favorite pair?
I'm not really a shoe girl. I usually just wear sneakers. And I'm the type to find a pair I like and wear them until they are practically falling apart lol. Although the last few years I have expanded my shoe preferences a little. I have a nice pair of boots for winter/cold weather that I love.

@hanshotfirst77 I'm sorry to hear you struggling but I understand about feeling like these negative/bitter feelings are your normal now. I don't even really remember what I was like "before" but I feel like I'm hardly ever happy anymore. I hope the next 9 days fly by for you and you can get your saline sono scheduled!
@b_1029 Some cycles I did and others I did not... though honestly it caused me more stress in regards to time of O... because my temp shifts did not always line up well with what should have been O based on trigger. So I would stress that timing was bad (when it wasn't)...

@jennifer_louise So sorry for the crappy weekend and for CD1. It’s so hard to be surrounded my families with young kids
@b_1029 Sorry for your crappy weekend too. A screaming match for 40+ min? Yikes! Sounds like way too much drama. And then AF on top of it all? Hugs to you girl
Diagnosis: MFI, still testing
Status: TWW
What are you doing this cycle? Will start testing next cycle- bloodwork and ultrasound; DH gets his ultrasound next week
How are things going? Just playing the waiting game for my next cycle to start. I’m not hopeful about this cycle since I had a really late O and timing wasn’t very good. We were supposed to be getting referred to an RE 2 weeks ago, but I haven’t heard anything so I left a message at my Dr’s office this morning to find out what’s going on. Right now the RE office is booking into Sept/Oct so I want to make sure this referral gets in now before it’s even longer.
Any questions? Not right now, I’m sure I will have a lot soon
GTKY: Maybe 10-12? Plus a few pairs of sneakers. I pretty much always wear flats/sandals.. I have a pair of black strappy sandals that I wear with almost anything. I also have one pair of really comfortable black heels that I love to wear when I’m going somewhere nice.
TTC since 9/2018
10/19- First RE visit
2/20- DH had surgery for bilateral varicoceles
7/20- IUI with 5 mg letrozole- BFN
9/20- IVF. 9 eggs retrieved, 9 mature, 8 fertilized with ICSI, 7 blasts, 4 PGT-A normal
11/20- Mock transfer/ERA
12/20- FET #1- transferred one 4AB- BFN
3/21- FET #2- transferred one 3AB- BFP! Due Dec 2021
12/21- Baby girl born!
@shoogapoff hopefully since it’s just one blocked you won’t need surgery and your open one can do the trick!
@jennifer_louise my SHG showed a “possible polyp/adhesion” and that’s why I just had my hysteroscopy to remove that tissue. The SHG showed that it was in a location that could effect proper implantation.
@b_1029 sorry about the cousin screaming match and crappy conversation… I hope you’re a special unicorn though and this is the medication that gets it done! I don’t do OPKs when I’m being fully monitored because we’ve always done TI anyway and we just had regular sex so I didn’t risk missing anything. I continued my BBT though because even with the trigger, I liked confirming that my temp did rise and then remained elevated with the progesterone. If you were doing an IUI and MFI, then I would be more inclined to use OPKs because you wouldn’t want to risk missing the IUI time. But if not, I would forego the OPKs.
@kpearse99 I’m glad you don’t need surgery and don’t have to go to IVF if that’s not for you. We haven’t done an IUI yet just because of timing and scheduling, but I’ve done many Letrozole cycles and a few with trigger, too. Would you go through full monitoring with the medication?
@hanshotfirst77 sorry about feeling bitter and frustrated. I, also, feel like negative emotions are becoming my new norm and I haven’t found a way to change that yet… if you figure it out, let me know!
@jennifer_louise the SHG gives a clearer view of the shape of your lining. Sorry you had to deal with all the kids at the wedding. Sounds like way more than I could ever handle 😳
@b_1029 hope you have a better week than your weekend. Man that is crazy! As for the OPKs and BBT, it really doesn't matter. The trigger shot will mature the egg and cause you to ovulate so there's really no need to pinpoint it. O happens within 24-48 hours of the shot I believe. It freaked me the hell out the 1 time I did BBT through the whole cycle because it showed I O'ed the day after the trigger and my IUI was scheduled for the day after that so I thought we were missing it. The OPKs will probably be pointless because once you take that trigger, no matter how light your OPKs have been up to that point, your OPKs are going to be blazing positive for days so that's not going to specifically tell you when O is either. You guys are starting with TI right?
@kpearse99 IUIs are pretty simple. YH will go in and provide the sample and have it go through a sperm wash. Then about 2 hours later you'll go in and they inject it into your uterus with a catheter. I will not that some experience a lot of discomfort if they can't get the catheter in. My cervix curves and goes down so they really struggled getting it in. They eventually pulled it taught to insert it. The 2nd IUI I had they used US to guide it through and the 3rd my RE was so damn good I didn't even know she had done the whole procedure. I felt nothing. It should be quick and should have not too much discomfort!
Diagnosis (if you've been): unexplained or MFI
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO and WT start BC again
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): BC then lupron
How are things going?: fine. I need to remember to call the pharmacy. After trying again on Friday I called my clinic like "idk what to do, nobody is giving me instructions on how to submit an appeal for rejecting covering the lupron or they're taking me around in circles". We're both in agreement that I might just have to pay OOP and I'm willing to do that to get that off my plate.
Any questions?: Eh, not right now. Anyone happen to know what the recovery is from (I think) a hysteroscopy? Is it one of those take it easy the day of and you're fine after? Any restrictions?
GTKY: how many pairs of shoes/boots/sandals do you own and which is your favorite pair?
We counted once and I had like 30 pairs, but that included all my Old Navy cheap flip flops that you can get for like 5 bucks and I have at least 5 of those.... My favorite shoes are my boots because they clack on the floor and I walk like I have authority when I wear them 😆

I asked DH how he felt about this plan and what he wanted to do - ultimately he says it's my choice because it's my body and overall he hates that we need to do the IUI and that we can't just do this on our own but that he's on board with giving it a shot, especially if it will get us to our end result/goal quicker.

@kpearse99 IUI's aren't bad. Sometimes it can be uncomfortable if they can't get the catheter in. But most of mine went pretty smoothly. I've done both clomid and letrozole and had a much better experience with Letrozole, hopefully you do too, Fx!

@b_1029 @inthewoods23 agree that 4-8 is excessive, which is why I didn't think it would bother me. I guess I've always believed I could do anything I put my mind to and knowing that I actually can't hit me real hard.
@mokay19 love Birkenstocks and I'm wearing a pair now! My sister and I call them "Birkenrocks" because of how often we get little pebbles stuck in there. Worth it though! I feel your financial dilemma - but hopefully you will not need to worry about more expenses and the oral meds will do it for you.
@kpearse99 hi friend! ♥️ I definitely get you on needing a break from TTC (aka HIO). It really wears on you month after month. Hopefully the time off did you well.
@misshelen86 sorry about the wait for the RE. I got a similar message that they're 6-7 weeks out for new patients, although they could get me in for an SHG sooner, but not consult with an actual RE until towards the end of summer. Hopefully you get in sooner! And at least YH is moving forward!
@hanshotfirst77 getting closer!! All my FX for you. Definitely bitter here too, feel free to vent away about it. None of it is fair.
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): TI with progesterone starting 3dpo
How are things going?: Aside from the bruising on my arms where they took blood (they look awful and I can't wear long sleeves to hide them), I am doing well. All our testing is in the normal range and the RPL testing is not showing any red flags. We just have to wait for our karyotyping to come back. If that's where the issue is, then we will likely jump straight to IVF with PGS.
Any questions?: What am I in for with these progesterone suppositories? It sounds hellish for some women and no big deal for others. The RE said cramping, bloat, swollen breasts and hot flashes. Glad I'll be experiencing this for the first time during summer break and not in front of a class of fifth graders.
GTKY: how many pairs of shoes/boots/sandals do you own and which is your favorite pair? I think maybe 14 total? I love my green ballet flats, but I wear my black patent flats the most. I also have a pair of nude pumps that go with pretty much everything.

Major word of advice though - buy the thicker pantiliners!! None of that ultra thin or barely there crap. I use the long length pantiliners from Always (purple box, not wrapped). Anything less and I ended up with a mess in the morning.

@inthewoods23 I have chubby feet (DH calls them Flinstone feet) so Birkenstocks are good for me haha but I thought they sold narrow and wide versions... maybe I'm mistaken though. I just love how they have actual support/structure to them.
@jennifer_louise Birkenrock is SO appropriate haha I love it!
@mokay19 I know your and your DH have a tough decision to make about your next step with treatment. I'm sure you'll choose what's best for the both of you!
@inthewoods23 I hope you can get all this insurance/medication stuff sorted out. I can imagine how frustrating it is! I'm waiting for a call from the pharmacy that does the progesterone prescription to arrange delivery and I am anxious that it won't get here in time.
@b_1029 ugh, the time with your cousins sounds horrible, I am so sorry. Family can really be awful sometimes(I have some family members that I had to cut out of my life because of some really terrible things they have done to the rest of the family). Hugs to you.
@misshelen86 I hope you're able to get that referral ASAP! Telephone tag with the doctors' office is annoying AF.
@hanshotfirst77 I get those bitter/frustrated feelings all the time, too. Sometimes I can push them back, sometimes they take over. I hope your move goes smoothly and that it gives you the distraction you need.
@kpearse99 I'm glad your initial round of testing came back without any issues. FX you get good news with your genetic testing, too!
@jennifer_louise I'm sorry about CD1 and I don't blame you for feeling crappy. I'm sorry the wedding was so hard (this is why I am avoiding get togethers with DH's extended family right now. I just can't deal). All the hugs to you today, friend. Good luck at the conference!
@inthewoods23 noted on the pantyliners! DH is bracing himself for the mood swings. Poor guy.
@mokay19 @emeraldduchess could dehydration be a factor with having trouble with your veins? They usually didn't have a problem getting in my veins, but if I wasn't hydrated almost nothing would come out.

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Dropped off medical records requests to MFM and my new OB so they can send their records along to the RE since I somehow only had my old OB send them in June. I need to call to see if they want my hematologist to send anything.
How are things going?: Eh, just WFAF. I’m on 11 dpo with two .4 drops two days in a row. Getting this far is good and I hope my progesterone situation is getting better after adding more supplements this cycle. I will just be right around ovulation when I have my RE appointment.
Any questions?: Any suggestions for an initial appointment?
GTKY: how many pairs of shoes/boots/sandals do you own and which is your favorite pair?
Too many to count and I definitely need to weed some out. I had like 3 pairs crap out on me at work this year. Like 75% of the sole was tearing off both the left and right of a pair of moderately priced flats and my big toe poked through then bottom of a more expensive pair. I’m a teacher, so I am on my feet a lot, but still... that shouldn’t happen!!!

@inthewoods23 oh I was definitely dehydrated since I couldn't drink for 8 hours before the surgery haha my mouth was sticking to itself.
@NYTino24 sorry about the temp drops! and the surgery went well. They found what looked like scar tissue and were able to remove it so I should have a nice, shiny uterus now!
@emeraldduchess Green ballet flats sound so fun! Have you tried tieks? I've wanted a pair, but they're pricey so I haven't gone for them yet.
@mokay19 I love birkenstocks too. I haven't bought any since high school, and still have my original pairs of clogs and sandals. DH thinks they're hideous, but I don't care!

Question: I need to get progesterone tested at 7 dpo. The problem is I didn’t use OPK’s this month, but I did track BBT. I figure that I O’d on CD 20 but I’m not really sure. Is it better to wait until next cycle so I have a better idea when O happened? Unfortunately my Dr won’t do the referral to an RE until I have this and the CD3 bloodwork completed.
