Group 3 here, mine is next week - 7/25 - which kind of has me like holy shit, time is flying. (I am getting mine at 19w3d.)

I am excited to see baby again, I’ve been having some jabby/sharp pains here are there which I *think* is round ligament pain. I’ve been waffling between calling my OB or not, but it does make me nervous about next week and what if something is wrong. It’s the first time I’ve had any anxiety about if things are ok vs. what’s normal.

I also had a dream the sonographer screwed up and told us the sex of the baby. 🙈
  • @anniemarie887 @Spartanrd4 I’ll be a couple days shy of 20 weeks too but I agree, time is freaking flying! Movement is kind of reassuring but I’m also still spotting and my abdomen is tender. Maybe round ligament, maybe irritation? Im going to be holding my breath the whole time for sure.
  • @bookworm492 I had no idea what to expect my first anatomy scan, so it was quite a shock to see the little peanut moving around so fervently in there when I couldn't actually feel any of it. It's a little surreal, so I wanted to give you a heads up so that it doesn't freak you out even more when you see it!
  • My 20 week scan is July 29th, absolutely can’t wait. I feel movement but not consistently so it’ll be nice to get to watch this one wiggling around in there.
  • @ashorkey oh I've read Geek Love

@CapricaAndrea oh I feel it plenty lately!!

  • I’m going in this Wednesday morning, which puts me at 20w3d.  I’m excited, but also a little nervous still, just because all of our checks so far have been short and smooth.  I think this is where they can see more actual developmental issues on the baby, right? Like spinal issues?  I think everything will be fine, but just a little cautious still!

@bookworm492 I’ve actually seen my baby a ton on the tiny ultrasound machine in the OV/GYN thanks to being older and having some higher risk issues.  Heck, last appointment, my doc couldn’t find the heartbeat quickly with the Doppler, so she just fired up the old ultrasound machine again.  Baby was/is sitting low, so I guess it was hard to get the heartbeat to pick up. I think you’ll be pretty amazed to put a little bit of a face to those moments 😊

@mecoats I'm in the same boat! Mine will be at 21 weeks because of our vacation. So I have my scan on August 12th...I can't wait!!! That's when we get to find out the gender (I hope!) since we didn't do any testing ahead of this.
  • @bookworm492 I read it as my last book club book. I couldn't make it through all of it because it was freaking me out too much! I kept trying to tell myself it was fiction but it wasn't doing anything for me.
  • @bookworm492 It is such an amazing thing seeing a tiny human growing inside of your own body! Like @cpk3535 I’ve seen this guy a ton so far but they change so quickly it’s always fun to see them again.

Its seriously blowing my mind that we’re all approaching the halfway mark!

Mine is not until 7/26. I’ll be 20w+3. Looking forward to it!

@ale9687 does your OB do it or do you go to MFM?  Just wondering because I think we live near each other. Mine’s at MFM because of my age.
  • Mine is in about 2 weeks, I will be 19 weeks.  I am excited but also terries. I am just glad my obgyn now has an in office sonographer, so I will be getting the results immediately.  TW with ds I had to go back for a second AS, they were checking for downs ( which is likely what caused my 2nd trimester miscarriage just a few months before.)
  • @cpk3535 Ya, they will check for a lot of things. They  look at the babies head development (not sure if they look at brain), spine, kidneys, liver, They'll measure their femur for accurate growth. They also look at the umbilical chord & placenta to make sure that is properly developed among other things I'm sure.
  • @cnd29 I’ll be going to a MFM as well. With DS I was at a diff OB practice and they had a MFM come to their office that you could use. This office doesn’t so they gave me a few places I could go. They preferred an office in Lakewood, I think they’re part of Barnabas.
  • I'm quite bothered that my AS isn't until August 8th, which is 21wks for me, BUT I find out the gender this Saturday.

Because of genetic things, I'm anxious to see if my baby is anatomically intact or not.
  • I have my scan Wednesday morning, so I’ll be 19w4d. I’m excited but also pretty nervous. My last scan was only two weeks ago because I have an abnormal uterus shape, so it hasn’t been that long since I’ve seen her. But I get so anxious worrying that they’ll find something wrong. Sigh. Fingers crossed!

@ale9687 yep, that’s where I’ll be going for AS too. I think they’re pretty nice over there. Went for NT and NIPT, plus all of the above with my first in 2014.
  • Super excited/nervous for the scan next Monday...will be at exactly 20 weeks. I think I’ve felt movement but not totally confident, so hoping to see a bunch like last time!

@anniemarie887 I’m also paranoid that we’ll get an unwanted gender reveal. And in general I’m just nervous about whether everything will be healthy...so far so good, but this one feels like a big deal!
  • @cnd29 they were so nice when I went for the NT scan. DH was away so it was just me and I had bleeding that morning, so I was a wreck and the tech was so nice and made sure to tell me everything was ok right away. My OB did warn me one dr over there is an alarmist so he hopes I don’t have him for my anatomy scan lol.

@ale9687 that’s good to know. I had Malik for NT scan. She was very nice, kind of pushed a little
for more invasive testing because of my age but was fine with my choice of just doing NT and NIPT as long as tests came back normal, which they did. Sorry about your bleed, those are so scary!  Hope all has been well since then!
  • What is MFM?  I checked in the abbreviation section and didn't see it.
  • @bookworm492 Maternal Fetal Medicine- it's a specialty in OB/GYN that works with high risk pregnancy.
  • Has anyone on team green had their anatomy scan? Curious to know whether we’ll actually get to see any images if we don’t want to know the sex.

My hospital is really good about keeping it a secret, but now I’m wondering if they’ll have to hide all of the imagery from us. I’ve been feeling anxious to see the mango again since our last scan!
  • @Spartanrd4 I know they say the weight via u/s can vary by 2lbs in either direction at the the end... do you know what the margin is at 20wks? Just thinking if he was being squirmy maybe that affected it as well?!
  • @midgerose86 I haven't had mine yet this pregnancy but with DS they kept the screen off until she knew for sure how baby was positioned then turned it on for us to see everything above the hips then turned it off again when she needed to go below. She gave us plenty of time to see his face and upper body. I really appreciated her giving us plenty of time.

@anniemarie887 I am not sure! I am sure him being squirmy and weird position may of affected things- weight estimations via ultrasound are known to not always be accurate. I am just going to keep thinking if they were really that concerned about his weight that they would of talked to me about it personally! My mom tried to talk me off a ledge today and said he has plenty of time to catch up and grow :)
  • @Spartanrd4 They're having me come back in a few weeks too for a similar reason: baby boy was so squirmy that they couldn't get good readings, and while he technically measures in the normal range, they said it was small side of normal (14th percentile). But they did at least explicitly say it was just a precaution because of his positioning, but they weren't too concerned. I think it's a little strange they didn't say this to you either, but I would agree that they would have said something if they were seriously concerned.
  • @spartanrd4 if I am remembering correctly, anything between 5-95th percentile is still normal, so while extra monitoring may be needed, I would try to not be too concerned.  And plus, those measurements can be off, especially with a squirmy baby.  My dd was estimated to be 7.5 lbs and was only 5 lbs 15 ounces.
  • @midgerose86 I haven’t done my anatomy scan for this pregnancy yet. But we were team green last pregnancy. Ultrasound tech just turned the screen away and told us not to look. Then when we were out of danger of seeing those bits she turned it back towards us. We saw plenty and had plenty of printouts. We actually had a ton of ultrasounds because I’m high risk. We could have wallpapered the nursery in ultrasounds. I just reminded the tech at the beginning of each one that we don’t know sex. Aside from the anatomy scan we never really even had to look away. They avoided that area. Gave us lots of images. You’ll get to see plenty of good stuff.
