  • My MIL decided to point out that my hands looked swollen and my rings were tight. Um, thanks for noticing and feeling the need to comment 😑

Hah. My bump is that big and I'm a FTM. 19 weeks.
  • @quidditchcapn1120 That dress is perfection - you look amazing!
  • @quidditchcapn1120 umm you look fantastic

@Cass005 my MIL has also commented on me ordering my own dessert and frankly I am fed up haha!! I cant have alcohol to get me through this sugar is all I got...
  • Thanks ladies.  I don’t know why I let it bum me out.  I’m going with that it slipped out of her mouth and she didn’t mean it the way it came out.
  • @quidditchcapn1120 maybe she meant like how fast it goes by? I feel like this pregnancy is going faster then DSs did

@kindbytealikat, I love that story! My favorite part, "oh, are they also doing obgyn training at Starbucks these days?"
  • He would have given me an earful today. I went back for thirds!  😂🙈

Getting a pedicure and the woman asks how far along I am.  When I say 6 months she asks “is it just one baby?”

😂 at least she isn’t telling me that my brows need wax this time.
I get this one weekly, if not more than that. Yes, it’s only one, FYVM.

What kills me slowly is that anytime she IS waxing my brows and first asks: lips too?

... No i prefer my 'stache this way 😂
ℓσℓ I’ve learned it’s a sneak sales tactic. I would get my eye brows down when I was like 19/20 years old and they’d ALWAYS ask about lip too. I’m 35 and still have no hair on my lip yet even if I go in for a pedicure they ask. Now that I’m a big girl 😉 and have gone through many different sales trainings I’m well aware of the reasoning. And sadly, we all buy on emotion, either positive or negative and what could be more negative than a stranger suggesting you need to wax your “mustache” when you weren’t aware you had one.

  • This is also food related but I wanted onion rings and you know what hubby said? "No" mhmm ….the nerve, who says no to a pregnant woman? (In his defense, they've been giving me heart burn...)
  • @meagan-t that's very frustrating. I think some people want to talk about it with you and don't know how to break the ice... Like they're trying to be funny? It's not funny tho.

This was after she already asked how I was feeling not fifteen minutes earlier. You'd think after 90 years on this earth, you'd know somewhat better. Now I kind of understand why other grandkids never sent her ultrasound pictures.

I really shouldn't be surprised. Two years ago she tried to kiss me smack on the lips as a greeting. Thanks, but no thanks...

    ETA: I'm salty.

  • MIL commented on my size as soon as we arrived yesterday. "Wow, look at that belly popping out! (Puts both hands on me) Looks like you're going to have another really big baby!" Uh... DS was 8#6, so just a little bigger than average, and I'm pretty tall. He was also super long, so not a chunky baby. Plus, this baby is measuring in the 33%ile, so way smaller than DS. I know DH will tell me to let it go, because MIL just had surgery and is still on meds, but this is not an out of character statement for her. I feel good about myself and my weight gain, but it's still not fun to hear.

  • My MIL told my mom she expects me to go a month early since my “tummy is SO big.” I’m extremely confused because she hasn’t seen me in 2 months so no clue where she’s getting these sage little bits of wisdom 🙄
  • My mom said I was looking huge the other day and that baby must be pushing outwards. Uh no, she is not that cramped for space yet.

My mom also said a couple months ago that I shouldn't reach my arms above my head because the umbilical cord can get twisted. I didn't know how to react (laugh, be confused, or straight up say how stupid that sounds). She doesn't have the best common sense to begin with anyways.

  • @telicious2 That used to be a very common myth, that if a pregnant woman raises her hands above her head, the umbilical cord will wrap around the baby's neck. I've been chastised by older people for it a few times as well.
  • @ineedsixeggs Yea my mom is 70 so I can definitely believe that was something they believed.
