@biolprof and @kbrown2385 thank you. I'm relaxing and trying not to stress. I feel like I jinxed myself because this morning I mentioned in another thread how paranoid I am. Just biding my time until Wednesday when I can see baby. 🤞
@peppyj9 I hope everything is okay and that it stops soon. I know how scary it is because this has happened to me 3 times already. When I first saw it I nearly broke down and panicked that it was going to progress and that I was going to miscarry. I had some red blood and the other two times were pink/brown. I freaked out and made an appointment after each time just for reassurance. Baby is totally fine and the doctors have no idea why it could be happening. I didn’t have sex, but the doctor said it could be from my cervix, a hormonal thing, etc etc. Can you schedule an appointment just for reassurance? I definitely would for your peace of mind. Please relax and take it easy. I’ll be thinking about you and hope all is well!
@blackcat01 thank you. Not that I'm happy it's happened to you too, but it's comforting to know I'm not alone. I'm sorry though that you've dealt with it too, it really is scary! I didn't push for an earlier appt because Wednesday is so close and I already took time off work for it, etc and I'm trying not to panic. I keep going to the bathroom to check and so far I'm not getting anything more than a very faint pink on tissue if anything at all, so I'm feeling a little more relieved for the moment. At this point in time it doesn't seem to be progressing so I'm hopeful it's just benign. 🤞 Hell, I'll even settle for a UTI or something!
@peppyj9 I totally know what you mean about someone else experiencing the same/similar thing so no worries. I actually almost posted about it but never did. That’s great that it seems to be stopping. I also kept going to the bathroom to check too, and sometimes I still wonder if it’ll happen again. I’m sure it’s probably nothing to worry about, but glad you will get to be seen tomorrow. Keep us updated and like I said before, I hope all is well!!
@peppyj9 - Are you on progesterone? I literally just had the same thing happen to me, but it was more brown than red. I chalked it up to me quitting progesterone, dehydration, and added activity in the hot sun. I'm still wiping a little brown here and there, but it's definitely lessened with water and rest.
@marebear15 oh, I'm sorry it happened to you too. It's an awful thing to see. But I know you just made your announcement so you must've had a good ultrasound! Glad water and rest is helping. I'm not on progesterone. After falling down a Google rabbit hole, I'm chalking it up to a strained BM from constipation as others on different boards have said the same thing happened to them. So far, no more spotting. I'll see what my OB says tomorrow morning.
Thanks everyone for letting me vent in here and showing support ❤
@peppyj9 with my last pregnancy I had spotting at 12 weeks. It brought me into a spiral because I had previously lost two before. I went in the next day and everything was fine. I delivered a healthy little girl that pregnancy. But I can completely understand how you feel right now and hope time goes by fast for your appointment!
@peppyj9 I bled/spotted for over 2 weeks straight due to a subchorionic hematoma (SCH). A SCH is not good news, I know, but it thankfully is not a miscarriage. SCHs are actually pretty common, usually don't affect the pregnancy, and can be seen on ultrasound (that's how mine was diagnosed). I know how scary the spotting can be and I'm sorry you're experiencing this. Wishing you the best for your scan tomorrow!
@kbrown2385 I go in for another scan today and I'll update here. As of my last scan my SCH hasn't shrunk at all. I'm hoping for better news today because in the last couple days my spotting has gone from constant to intermittent, fx'ed that means something. I need some good news.
@noranorabobora honestly, I'll take anything that's not miscarriage. Anyway, I sorry you've been dealing with that. It must be so scary and stressful. I'm glad it doesn't seem to be affecting baby though. I hope everything goes great with your scan! Please keep us updated. ❤
Well, I think I got pretty good news at my appt today. Baby still looks great, perfect size for 12+6 heart rate 171, and was flopping and wriggling like crazy. The large SCH was still there but today the MFM dr questioned whether it really is a hematoma or not. He doesn't know exactly what it is (might be endometriosis, fibroid, cancer, or SCH) but it's not changing in size or shape. I'm choosing to believe it's a fibroid, because that's the least dangerous and hopefully most likely option. It's weird that I've had 3 scans with MFM and this is the first time they've questioned the diagnosis. Plus, I had my OB recheck my initial ultrasound, before I ever started bleeding, and she said the SCH was not present at all on that one. If this was a fibroid it would have been there the whole time. I really don't know what to think and it's frustrating. The smaller SCH has healed, which is probably why I've been bleeding less recently. I'm going to stop the weekly scans I've been getting. I'm not confident they tell us anything useful, or that the drs know what's going on, and I tend to worry leading up to them. Unless I start bleeding more heavily again, I don't plan on going back in until my anatomy scan. I have a home fetal doppler if I get nervous and want to hear Baby's heartbeat.
Wishing you a great scan too @peppyj9! Keep us posted
@noranorabobora I’m glad the kiddo is continuing to do so well! Interesting that the MFM is now questioning the diagnosis. It sounds like you’re making the best decision for your sanity to forgo the additional scans unless something changes.
@noranorabobora - Yay for seeing a healthy baby! But I am sorry they can't figure out what is going on. Hopefully it's a fibroid!
@peppyj9 - I've had bright red blood with this pregnancy, and at my last u/s the midwife said she could see more on my cervix I think, and not to be surprised if it came out. But it was no where near baby and no big deal. I bled a ton with my middle daughters pregnancy, bright red and every few weeks for the first half of pregnancy. I had spotting with my first daughter too, though not as much. So for me it's just a normal part of pregnancy. FX you have an awesome scan tomorrow.
Update: ultrasound went great! OB says no real explanation for spotting, it could be a number of things but being as it's stopped and everything looks good, nothing to be concerned about. Now off to do NIPT and glucose. Yay..
Edit: want to thank everyone again for the positive words and just for thinking of me. It's really so helpful and I'm grateful for all you mamas ❤
@noranorabobora so glad you had a great scan! I think it's a good idea for your mental health to not get so many checks unless you start bleeding again. It seems like there's often not an exact explanation for spotting/bleeding. And so far it seems like your baby is doing just fine! 😊 Be sure to keep us updated on any progress. ❤
@peppyj9 I just saw this thread today. Over the 4th I had a very similar experience. During a BM, I had bright red blood. Really freaked me out. It didn't get worse or continue. I'm so glad you told your story and appt outcome.
Hi all! Very scary experience last night. Around 7 I felt a warm gush and check to see bright red blood in underwear and pants. I immediately put on a pad and called the nurse line. After talking to them for 15 minutes I went to pee and noticed a smallish clot, but the bleeding seemed to have stopped. I had no cramping whatsoever but we were freaking out, and hub wanted to go to the ER. It was a long night, but the baby was great on the ultrasound, perfect size for 12+3 and good heartbeat. All my other tests were normal, and aside from a very small amounts when I peed last night I haven’t have any more bleeding since. Obviously, I was going crazy googling while we were waiting last night and this sounds EXACTLY like a sch (based on other women’s accounts). However, I thought that would show on the ultrasound and the doctor didn’t say anything. He said there is no identified cause for the bleeding and things might be fine or they might not be. That wasn’t very reassuring, but maybe he is not familiar with sch because he is not an obgyb? The us tech was very competent, so I feel like she would have called it out to him if she noticed something. Anyways, I have another appointment with my reg ob on Tuesday and also the NIPT and NT scan at the high risk clinic, so hopefully they can give me some more insight. Hoping that all is well ongoing - if anyone has had a similar experience please do tell! Thanks everyone and have a great weekend.
@jamidine I haven’t had a similar experience but sorry you went through that scare. I hope your appointments this week give you some more clarity and information!
Update: it was an sch; confirmed on the ultrasound. It’s already getting smaller and the docs say more than likely nothing to worry about! Whew! What a relief.

@mispanda I'm sorry about your losses. Also sorry you went through a scare, but so glad it had a happy ending! 🤗 Thanks for sharing your experience ❤
