Product Spotlight: maternity wear

Re: Product Spotlight: maternity wear

  • I scored 4 tops and a two pack of capris leggings at motherhood for $55. Also, target has a sale on swimsuits right now and I bought two swim tops and a pair of bottoms.
  • Loading the player...
  • I looked at Target for maternity swimsuits yesterday and couldn't find anything so I got a cute one from Old Navy.
  • Got a couple cute dresses at Old Navy that will work out nicely this summer.  $20/each
  • So, I was completely surprised by this, but I am really liking things I got online from Walmart! Super affordable, the pants are the comfiest ones I currently own, and the tops are cute. Also, maternity legging capris for like $11 that really aren't see-through.

@dani_0921 I actually love Walmart.  I have a bunch of workout clothes from there, too, that are also my favorites.  I think I have the same leggings you are talking about.  Love them.

  • I bought some old navy maternity shirts and I'm wearing one today and I don't like them at all. They are too short.
  • @emeraldcity1214 yes! I found that last pregnancy. I kept them and wore them around the house until they became legit belly shirts.
  • @creamcheeseplease I wore one to my appointment today and I felt like every time I moved it was riding up to where you could see the elastic of my maternity jeans.
  • I just got a few shirts, a bathing suit, and two dresses from H&M and I’m happy with all but one shirt which will get too short.  I also got a great pair of jean shorts on Amazon of all places.

I was looking at a dress from Walmart the other day, one of the ig accounts I follow has been raving about it and she’s maybe 30 weeks.  It’s super cheap so why not?!
  • @rogro118 link to walmart dress?

I got a bathing suit from motherhood, a one piece - I'm hoping it still fits when we're at the beach (I'll be around 30w). Otherwise I guess I'm going to try to wear some of the bikinis I already have, although I'll probably need to pick up a few bottoms in bigger sizes.

@creamcheeseplease it’s not maternity, but stretchy and the buttons aren’t functional so it won’t gape open.  It looks super cute on the ig girl with a long cardigan or a T-shirt tied up around her belly.  https://www.walmart.com/ip/Juniors-Stripe-Knit-Button-Front-Midi-Dress/397475919?irgwc=1&sourceid=imp_zOwwuhUTGxyJT%3ArwUx0Mo382UklyiCQZIz3m2I0&veh=aff&wmlspartner=imp_116548&clickid=zOwwuhUTGxyJT%3ArwUx0Mo382UklyiCQZIz3m2I0

Walmart has some really cute stuff lately! I got just a simple gray dress there that I think will be nice this summer when it's about a billion degrees out. My local Walmart doesn't have a great maternity section though, but I just got a couple pairs of maternity jeans and shorts at Ross for dirt cheap so that was cool
  • This weekend I wore some of the stuff I’ve bought and wanted to share since it was all so comfy!

These spanx knock offs.. Belevation Womens Maternity... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008HS00M0?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

These jean shorts were a dream and didn’t ride up at all... Motherhood Maternity Women's... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GP7RTP6?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

This is so soft and ribbed material.  It looks cute under a denim shirt https://m2.hm.com/m/en_us/productpage.0753001001.html

Wore this yesterday to my friend’s bridal shower and it was nice and roomy, but still flattering.  It’ll fit for most of the summer.  https://m2.hm.com/m/en_us/productpage.0745475012.html

Also, I’ve been living in this and they’re designed for nursing too...

Has anyone found any good wide leg lounge pants?  My pj pants are starting to get annoying around the waist, so I’d love something extra stretchy, doesn’t need to be maternity, but preferably no drawstring.
  • @rogro118 I need those spanx knock offs to wesr under dresses for my poor chubby thighs.
  • @purplefan1 same girl.  I have nude and black and they’re the best.  I wore them regularly last pregnancy too but got new ones this time.

Old navy swing dresses are great - not maternity but comfy and forgiving.  They are $8 today and I got an additional 20% off for signing up for email so they were $6.40 each.  Can’t complain!  I bought one size up from my normal so I could grow with them
  • @rogro118 thank you for these recommendations! Love that caftan dress. As for PJ pants, I've been going without lol my pants were driving me crazy too both over belly and under so now it's just long tshirts...good thing it's warm weather season! ASOS has loungewear sets maternity but I only have them favorited so I can't personally vouch.
  • @ABabyMarshall thanks for the rec!  My son keeps asking where my pants went, I think I need something just for lounging around the house, he’s concerned haha, but sleeping is so much more comfortable without anything for sure!
  • I have a question about bathing suits. I did get a one piece that I like, but I also have a bunch of bikinis. The bottoms do not fit (hips are too big so doesn't cover my butt) but the tops are okay. So I thought I would just get two larger bottoms and go with the tops I already have (mix and match). We are going on vacation in August, so since fall stuff always seems to be out by then I thought I would try to order now. I should still fit them in August if I order now, right? My hips won't get any bigger, right?

Side note why did not my boobs not grow this time

@creamcheeseplease I have had the best luck (last and this pregnancy) with higher waisted bottoms in a size up. Just in case I needed a little extra room.
  • @creamcheeseplease if you’re like me, you’ll hate any seams pushing on your lower belly, so I’d go with actual maternity bottoms.  I had a low rise and a high rise pair last time.  I think the low rise was from Nordstrom.  This summer I got the maternity high rise bottoms from Kortni Jean and they’re very comfortable!
  • @creamcheeseplease I have a pair of Seafolly v-front bottoms that I'm really liking right now! They fit below the belly, but in a flattering cut and they don't dig in anywhere!
  • Anyone have any good dresses that you’ve found lately?  I’m finding I’m hating most of the stuff I had from my first pregnancy and need some staples to get me through the summer until it’s leggings weather again!  The jean shorts I’m wearing today are making me want to cry, so I think I’ll just live in dresses.  The ribbed one I love from H & M doesn’t have any other colors in stock, and I need to stop wearing the same outfit three times a week 🙃
  • @rogro118 I actually have some LLR dani dresses and they fit pretty well even at 19 weeks. I'm not sure how they will be in the next few months though. I would look at Target or Old navy too.
  • @rogro118 I got a bunch of dresses from Asos for work bc it was cheaper than shirts and pants. I've loved them and will probably be able to wear them after baby, too.

I got two pairs of cheap maternity capris off Amazon to wear to work since I cant wear shorts or dresses. And I'm HATING how high they come up. Like I have to roll them down because otherwise they sit right under my boobs and make me crazy. Is that typical for maternity pants, or...? I don't have much of a bump yet so idk if that's part of it or what.
  • @angieeeeee some have side panels, and some have half panels, but it sounds like you have full panel which are tough to keep up without a bump, but they’ll be your best friend in the end!
  • blg116blg116 member
@rogro118 yea I just ordered some cheap ones off Amazon, and I think they are full panel. I switched back to my regular jeans and the rubberband trick lol
  • @angieeeeee the full panel are glorious in the third trimester. I still fold my full panel yoga pants down because they annoy me. I haven’t been able to find the kind that just have an elastic band all the way around. Those are great for this in between stage.

I need some good maternity workout leggings. I have several full panel yoga style but they aren't the best for working out. Any leads or ones that you would suggest?

I splurged on two pairs of birkenstocks this weekend. I have never owned any and needed some relief for my achy and already swelling feet.

Holy shit y'all.... these are the BEST shoes I have ever worn. 100% recommend for pregnancy.
  • @bmmims haha I'm a birkenstock fan at all times, but yes especially during pregnancy. I have three pairs myself. I'm wearing regular sandals today and I'm already regretting it since I'm starting to feel uncomfortable.

Also re workout leggings, what kind of working out do you do again? I've been using a pair of under-belly motherhood maternity activewear leggings for most of my lounging and working out (ST/weights/spin bike). I'll dig up the link in a bit. I didn't run in those or anything though, I had a pair of full panel ones also from MM that I had been using for that, but the panel was getting kinda hot and itchy.

@creamcheeseplease I do barre and yoga. I misspoke regarding the ones I have, they aren't "yoga" leggings but cotton leggings. I found a few pair of true yoga active maternity leggings on poshmark last night that I am going to try! I don't really care if they're full panel or not but my regular workout leggings are getting snug on the belly.

I scored a pair of ingrid and isabel active tanks and maternity jeans for $15 total on poshmark last night too. That site is perfect since I am not really willing to pay full price lol.
  • So far I've been wearing my Old Navy, Nike, and Prana workout pants that are on the stretchier side. Someone mentioned in the fitness thread that the Lululemon Align pants are great and I've heard that before. I'm debating splurging.

I'm also debating splurging on another pair of Rothy's. My feet like them. 😃

I have a few of the Lululemon Align leggings and I heard they're good for pregnancy...but honestly, I feel like they're so tight around my belly. I'm OK for a little bit with them, but then my belly gets sore. I think I have always had a sensitive belly though...I hate tight things around it so I would love some below the bump leggings.

I bought some of the Spanx faux-leather maternity leggings and HATED them...I have always found Spanx to be too tight though and these were no exception. The legs were super tight throughout and the top of the elastic for the belly was SUPER tight. I even ordered two size up!!

@natehk I just bought a Baby Be Mine gown on Amazon, but their robes are just as cute. It hasn't gotten here yet, so I cant give a personal review though.

@natehk Milkmaid Goods has pretty ones that also have matching baby swaddles! :)
  • Old Navy has 50% off and free shipping today only.  Just bought a bunch of nursing tanks, shirts, and maternity leggings.
  • @perfectoops Do you know if their leggings are stretchy? I bought some off of amazon that aren’t and I hated them the minute I got them on my body.
