Team Green!
While we know this baby does have a strong probability of arriving early, I may have over exaggerated the severity of it to light a fire under DH with some projects. I mean DS's big kid room was supposed to be done in December and he has made ZERO progress. Months ago I asked for maternity clothes and baby stuff to be brought down from the attic and the garage has actually gotten worse in that time. Now let's see if it works...

Confession 1: I lied about my due date for the Amazon registry so I could get the discount while I was setting up / planning the nursery.
Confession 2: The discount expires at the end of this month, so I'm trying to think of anything else to add to the registry for the second use of the coupon (you get 2 uses with amazon).
Confession 3: I'm at work today, but really just browsing Amazon trying to add everything under the sun to the registry and justify it to DH who keeps texting me "what is XXX for?" and "we dont need that".
ETA: Confession 4: I'm adding stuff to the Target registry (which is currently "public") just for the discount. Stuff like new bedding and pants for DD1 that she needs for back to school. I might just make the registry private but my mom/friend want it public until after the shower they are throwing. (which is like 5 people, so i dont see why i need a registry for that...I just want my discount!)
Even though I get worried about my weight gain, I am glad that I haven’t gained much weight so that I have less to lose afterwards. I can’t wait to get back my body and my abs.
@sourlemon I added so much stuff that isn't baby related to our amazon registry and the discount worked for a lot of it! My husband wasn't thrilled with the gigantic order I placed yesterday, but I had to remind him I'm the only one that actually keeps track of what we need and I'm getting the best deals possible so watch what you say!
I couldn't sleep last night due to restless legs and hunger, so I walked around our kitchen/dining area in circles eating snacks.
@heml@jrm_14 same. I'm trying to be better and just look at the number, but curiosity gets the better of me. and Amazon only makes it worse. They sent me an email saying I could see who got what. My 'thank you list.' I'm so tempted.

"Some days are diamonds, some days are rocks, some doors are open, some roads are blocked"
@peachy0709 😂😂 I had to quit wearing my Fitbit when I got pregnant. I didn’t like being reminded I only took 2,000 steps in a day.
@jrm_14 The bathroom, not the parking lot... although I’ve seriously considered parking in a lot closer to my building that isn’t monitored (but you’re supposed to pay for it).
@agpandme makes sense, but I can honestly say our stroller really has held up well. It's probably because my daughter doesn't like be confined and never want to sit in it.
@agpandme - I despise the typical toddler mess. There are rarely sticky / Cheerio messes in my car b/c.... a) my kid doesn’t get juice boxes. If she does, it’s a special treat at a play date at a friend’s house. We stick solely to milk and water, in sippy cups (and cup parts get replaced immediately when they start leaking...which is inevitable). I’ve also been known to dump juice boxes into sippy cups. I just don’t do juice spills. b) dry snacks (to-go or around the house) are given in those Munchkin containers with the lid they can stick their hand in. She’s 2 and she’s known for a while that if she starts tossing food it gets taken away. I don’t care that I’m a no-fun mama. 3) alllll the facecloths. She’s given a serious scrub-down by me (or another capable adult) after every meal or snack that could be remotely sticky or messy. Baby wipes work decently well on the go. No kid is walking around my house making a disgusting sticky mess with food residue on their hands.
Aaaand I suppose all of this should be my FFFC. I’m kind of hard-core about preventing messes. You guys don’t even want me to start on how crazy I am about my kid’s schedule (but it keeps me and her sane sooooo 🤷🏻♀️).
@aecm I will definitely be the same way. I can't handle kid vehicles that have a vast amount of crumbs and food in every crevasse. I'm definitely not a clean freak, I have horses so there is always dirt around but sticky food messes really grind my gears.
I used to be beyond disgusted watching kids eat, now as long as it means my daughter is quiet and happy, I don't even care if she is touching her hair with spaghetti fingers. I do take her shirt off when she eats at home though if it's going to be a messy meal and we go straight to the bath after. I just think it's funny how some things totally change when you have kids.
I let my kids eat a handful of times in the car. The mess is beyond amazing with all of the little cracks crumbs can go. I didn’t even realize the extent of It until I got my new car and decided to give both of their seats a complete scrub down before putting them in the new car. Ewww - no more eating in car seats! Water only. I’m also a mom who thoroughly wipes her kids down after each meal and snack and they don’t get juice. @aecm we mom alike!
@Allycat11 girl, I can relate. I told H we had to have Pickle's new room ready three weeks ago. Guess what still isn't done?
When I was pregnant with Pickle in 2016, I tried to pop a Tums and it fell onto the ground and rolled into a crevice in my desk, way in the back. I definitely left it there because I was too pregnant to put in the effort to retrieve it. Then, when I came back, I felt a little nostalgic about it and left it there. It is still there and I will probably never get it out.
I think today my FFFC is that I'm sad that my husband's hair probably won't grow back before the baby is here. He has alopecia. And while he has a great head shape and face structure for being bald, I miss his hair. And if it doesn't grow back by the time this baby is born it will be the only baby he has welcomed while bald. I miss not getting "sandpapered" when cuddling. I know he misses it to.
Id prefer my kids not eating in the car, but they do it all the time. The car seats get so gross. I do make them help me clean them though...Ill take them out and take the pads to the bath tub for cleaning (or machine wash those that can be washed) then I hose down the shell and give each kid a bucket and a sponge. They seriously love scrubbing things, so its a game to them. Then I hose them down again. We do the same for the strollers.
Ooh I think I’ll be buying lots of these munchkin containers! I like to think I’ll be able to keep kiddo on the clean side. I’m also not a fan of sticky children.
@Beauxbaton totally not the same as your situation with alopecia, but DH got his hair cut on Monday and I was instantly bummed out because it made his receding hairline really obvious. The farther back his hairline goes, the more he looks like his dad...and I couldnt stand his dad.
@emqbee if you're talking about the munchkin containers that have the soft plastic lid that they stick their hand into to pull snacks out of, my kids figured out how to push one flap down and pour everything out within 5 minutes of me giving them to them haha.
@agpandme ours has never gotten sticky... we also don't really let the kids have juice boxes/sticky things...
@jrm_14 I had something similar about a month ago... the cramps were intense enough and timable that I even called into L&D. Thankfully the cramping stopped after the diarrhea started but man it was a rough 24 hours

@Beauxbaton Yep! Pretty sure my daughter makes more of a mess with those that if I just give her a ziplock bag of whatever snack it is for some reason.
FFFC I announced to my husband last night that our family outing for this evening would be to a winery event, and I am planning on having (slowly, over the course of an hour or two, with lots of food) a whole glass of wine. It’s been weeks since my last sip of wine AND I’m going into a very long weekend of work events, so I’ve convinced myself I’ve earned it. Also this winery does a very limited-release rosé and this year’s is already almost sold out, so this event is the last time they’re pouring it.
@cato99 I took my parents out for a nice steak dinner last nice and ordered the best glass or red wine on the menu! I didn’t quite drink it all and let my dad finish it but I don’t feel 1 bit guilty and you shouldn’t either! Treat yourself!
@heml@avrilmai@jrm_14 Our registry was just pushed out to people this past week (my work shower is in a few weeks) and I have already looked at who has bought what... I've even had several deliveries to my house already. I've rationalized that I need to keep on it so that I can do timely thank yous, lol.
I'm looking forward to sticky messes, explosive diarrhea, and having a little boy to talk to about bodily functions unashamedly. It's my hope that we will freak out my husband with all of it and give him some much needed exposure therapy.
I spent a ton of money on a bed and bedding recently because I wanted our bedroom to look like those cozy layered beds in the magazines. My husband doesn't know how much I spent.
People think we become mothers when we give birth but the truth is we become mothers the moment we start calling our babies to us in our thoughts, dreams and prayers. Some paths are short and some are so long that you can easily forget where you were headed.

@olivemomma yes exactly! Crumbs everywhere! DH and I already talked about our car food eating policy when this kid comes along. Those munchkin containers sound amazing.
@sourlemon I’m still trying to get DH to start an amazon registry so we can use the discount (he has the Prime membership). I started a Buy Buy Baby one because a work friend told me a while ago she would host us a shower. I haven’t heard anything since no one even knows about our registry so I’m preparing myself for not getting much of anything from it.
