Had my A/S this morning. Baby is growing well and definitely a boy but unfortunately there’s a small anomaly. Baby has a small cyst on his brain. The doctor says she sees stuff like this all the time (maybe on a weekly basis or so) and it’s usually nothing and resolves itself. There were no other anomalies and since my NIPT came back normal, the odds are very good that it’s nothing. I’ll have a repeat ultrasound in 4 weeks and if it hasn’t gone away or has gotten bigger, then they’ll refer me to a high risk doctor. So nothing to do but wait. It’s going to take all my will power not to google it, but I really don’t want to know about worst case scenarios at this point.
@greenbean-2 So sorry that you got unsettling news, but it definitely sounds like the doctor gave some strong reassurance. Sending lots of good vibes your way as you get through this four week wait. I think not Googling is VERY smart!
@greenbean-2, I'm so sorry for the unsettling scan. Sending you lots of hugs. I hope the next 4 weeks fly by and your next scan shows a healthy little boy with no cyst 💙
@mrsinterweb@greenbean-2 I'm so sorry for the confusing scans. Sending you both all of my positive thoughts/vibes that there are no issues and everything resolves on its own.

@greenbean-2 I'm sorry for the unsettling results. If it's any comfort, they told me my son had the same. It was on my mind constantly until the follow up scan when we finally found out it turned out to be nothing. I was worried it was going to happen again with this baby and mentioned it to the tech who did tell me, they pick it up all the time and in his entire 30 years of being a tech, he never saw it turn out to be anything. Hope it eases your mind until your next scan!
@mrsinterweb and @jal88144 thanks for sharing your positive outcome stories. The doctor did not seem worried at all by her tone, and said that before ultrasounds were this good, babies would have had stuff like this all the time and no one would have ever known. But since we do have the technology to know now, we have to follow up. So I’m really trying not to worry, but I know this will be on my mind for the next month.
ETA: and also, thanks everyone else for the kind thoughts.
@mrsinterweb so sorry for the mixed results. I'm in a similar boat. I did the maternal serum AFP screening twice and had an abnormally high result both times. But the 16 week ultrasound they did didn't show any neural tube defects. I have my 20 week anatomy scan in 2 weeks so am also anxiously awaiting it for any news. Thinking of you and hoping for good blood test results!!
@greenbean-2 not sure how I missed your update when I posted earlier. Thinking of you and praying it's nothing!! And here's to hoping the next 4 weeks fly by and you have a reassuring follow up scan.
My willpower sucks. I lasted around 3 hours before I googled... but what I found (in the first few hits - I didn’t go down the rabbit hole) was surprisingly reassuring. In one study, even with babies who still had a cyst when they were born, most had gone away by the time they were 6 months old, and none of the babies had developmental problems.
@greenbean-2 fingers crossed it turns out to be nothing and I’m glad google eased your fears a bit. I’ll be thinking about you as you wait for your next scan!
Been away for what seems like forever, but @greenbean-2@mrsinterweb and @cooaladolly thinking of you all and hoping you get the best news in your next round of blood work, sonos, results, etc. xoxoxo
I had my anatomy scan almost two weeks ago (i am so far behind lol) at 8w2d. Everything looks great. He is measuring in 90%+ percentile for everything except femur length. I died a little when I saw 90%+ head. It does explain why I can already see him moving from the outside tho! My doctor thought I was crazy when I said that at not even 19 weeks - but I have video proof that I am not crazy! lol
@greenbean-2 that's great that Google was actually helpful, and I hope that 4 weeks can go by quick as possible.
@mrsinterweb I got the same US results as you with the echogenic bowel. I've never heard of it before, but understood most of the same as you did. Although, maybe I did misunderstand a little because I thought the blood test was one I already had taken. Just put a call in to double check so thank you. I hope your test results come back all good!
ETA: @longhairdntcare I had to giggle a bit at the "I died a little..." part. I'm so sorry!

@longhairdntcare When I saw your 90% head comment, I had to lol a little. My DS had a 99% percentile head at birth and I wish to goodness they had mentioned it at earlier appointments (looking back, I had an ultrasound and when they measured his head, it said the EDD was like mid-August... but I wasn't due til mid-September 🤦🏼). Also, MIL failed to tell me that all of her boys (3 of them) had huge heads in utero.

@stephanie123456 DH was pretty big at birth (over 9lbs). He seems to think it's all hilarious. I am hoping he evens out to closer to average size before birth lol
@longhairdntcare DS was born with a 90+ %ile head (and his sagittal suture was fused so it couldn't mold properly) and I pushed for 20 minutes with no tears! It's obviously not every case, but head size doesn't have to mean a tough labor 💚

^this. My tear was only internal, I pushed for 20 minutes max, and DS1 had a 99%tile head. Giant headed babies are my thing, apparently
DS inherited my husband’s big head but luckily it was average sized at birth. Hoping this guy’s follows suit. As of now it’s on par with the other measurements

I’m sorry to hear you are going through this as well! The blood test (tests actually) I’m doing now are specifically to look for fetal infections. I believe the three they are looking for are: CMV, toxoplasmosis, and parvovirus. Thought I would share in case it is helpful for you.
We had our Anatomy Scan today. We’re having a girl!! For the majority of things she looked great, however all wasn’t normal. At our scan 4 weeks ago we were measuring 10 days behind, we are now measuring a full week behind. They were also unable to find the right kidney. My MFM doctor wasn’t concerned about the kidney and believes it is because of the small size. He doesn’t seem alarmed by size just says we will continue to watch closely.
Our scan was today and little baby is active as can be! They had me pegged one day ahead of where I am, which is great! My kids were not so great however, SO took them to the truck to wait the rest out and give DS a nap. I felt bad cause I thought they might like it(they both love hearing the heart beat at appointments) but alas. Lesson learned 😂
@kindbytealikat Yay for baby girl! So happy for you to have found out! I'm sorry for any added stress from the scan. It's good your MFM wasn't concerned. Sending good thoughts that everything will continue to progress well.
@kindbytealikat Welcome to Team Pink! 😁 It’s a good sign for sure that your MFM wasn’t concerned at the size or kidney, but I’m sorry to hear that you had the additional stress of anything like that!
@kindbytealikat congrats on baby girl! I'm glad your MFM isn't worried but I know you of course are. Fx that she continues to grow and just turns out to be a peanut!
