At each scan, I seem to be getting further and further ahead. This latest scan Iโm 6 days ahead. Am I in for a big baby?ย
The results were were released to my chart, and according to the comments things look good. Iโm not sure if they will call and follow up or if theyโre just going to wait until my appointment next week.
I was relieved to see a normal head size. We went to the Cayman Islands the day after I found out I was pregnant. At the time cdc said it was safe for pregnant ladies. Iโm a worrier and theyโve since changed the guidelines to say discuss with your doctor before going.ย
@mrsinterweb thank you, I called them today and the doc should be calling back tomorrow to go over options.
@kindbytealikat I'm so sorry you're another with added stress. Let your doctor's outlook on the situation keep you optimistic. Hopefully it will have resolved itself by next scan.

@sammygirl18 I don't read much into the measuring ahead. Both my kids always measured ahead and I still went 41.5 with both lol- this one I'm not counting on going before 41 weeks no matter how far ahead they say I'm measuring.ย
@kindbytealikat Iโm sorry for the stress. Iโm glad your MFM wasnโt worried but I know that wonโt stop you from worrying. Hopefully your next scan is more reassuring.ย
Yeah, same on not reading into measuring ahead/behind. DS1 was at 40w4d, 8 lbs 6 oz, 20โ, he was 70something percentile. He was consistently measuring ahead by a few days. DS2 was 39w2d, 7lbs, 21โ, 25%tile. I was bordering an IUGR diagnosis with him starting at my 30w growth scan. Heโs just a lean, string bean of a kid whereas DS1 always was and still is very dense (he doesnโt *look* like he weighs in the 75%tile)
I haven't been too active here, but it's been really good to hear everyone's AS discussions.ย @cooaladolly@mrsinterweb@greenbean-2@kindbytealikat I'm sorry you have the extra stress. It all may well turn out just fine still, so we have to focus on that.
Our tech last week did mention that sizes start to vary more as time goes on, which is why they date only in early pregnancy. At 20 weeks, she said you could measure a week off and still be fine. Which is good because baby measured at 21 weeks when I KNOW he's 20 weeks tops
*TW*
We had the AS last Thursday, so 8 days ago. The tech said everything was great, and it's a baby boy (called it!). But the next day we were called back "immediately", which is never great. After 30 minutes of quiet scanning, we sat waiting for the doctor of the US clinic. Baby boy has a gap in his skull where it was supposed to close but didn't, and the membrane that lines the brain and spinal cord has made a little bubble through the gap. Now, as long as sweet baby's brain stays growing normally that can be fixed after a C-section birth. But if the brain grows into the gap then it will be pinched and stunted resulting in unknown neurological damage. So. I get to sit and wait until I can get referred to a high risk pregnancy doctor, who wants to do an MRI but not until 28 weeks (2 months away!!) to see how the brain is growing. The stress is intense, and I've lost my appetite almost completely. I hope I get answers soon.ย
@leitis I'm so sorry to hear you are going through this. I can't imagine the stress and worry. Sending positive thoughts and hope for a good outcome for you and baby boy.
@leitis Iโm so sorry you got that news. Iโll be thinking of you, hoping the next 8 weeks flies by, and wishing for the best possible outcome for your baby.ย
Oh how weird, I'm still glad that the majority of the group have had good ultrasounds, but I'm surprised at the numbers that have been given scares (and I truly hope that's all that they are!)
@leitis that's a heavy load for them to lay on your shoulders. All I can say is I'll keep you in my thoughts with fingers crossed that all comes out all right, and at least there are a few of us in this waiting boat all together. Let's just hope this ship sails very quickly to 6-8 weeks straight ahead.

I'm sending thoughts and prayers to those still waiting for answers on their little one's scans. I have mine this Tuesday and I'm nervous. The only thing currently helping is knowing I have a community of support if I need it.
Awww @meagan-t hoping everything goes smoothly with no issues at all. It seems that because we have the technology to catch things so early anymore that we hear about more issues that moms 20 years ago would ever have even known about. Fingers crossed for you for tomorrow tho!

@longhairdntcare DS was born with a 90+ %ile head (and his sagittal suture was fused so it couldn't mold properly) and I pushed for 20 minutes with no tears! It's obviously not every case, but head size doesn't have to mean a tough labor ๐
DS also had a 90+%ile head and I pushed for 20 minutes as well! I opted for an episiotomy and he was out in the next push. Recovery from that was minimal (couldn't sit directly on it for like a day).ย ย

Iโm so sorry to everyone who has left their A/S scan with questions. ย I hope everyone gets good news in the coming weeks and can be at peace until then.
We FINALLY have our AS scheduled for this friday. I've been calling back and forth between the doc's office and diagnostic center for two weeks now. I'm so relieved.
Hello after several days away! A/S on Friday went well. Baby is definitely a boy! A very active boy, measuring five days ahead with a heart rate of 155. Feels insensitive to go into any more detail on this thread, so will post more elsewhere. So sorry for all the unsettling news people have gotten at their appointments. Thinking of you all and hoping for the very best for you and your babes.ย
Our anatomy scan went well this morning! Baby is in the 90th percentile and 12 ounces at 19w2d. We got to see so many things that I wasn't expecting to see as clearly as we did. The only thing they're going to watch is the marginal placenta previa.
I'm thankful to have this burden lifted from my shoulders, and now I will be sending more thoughts and prayers to those ladies still awaiting their answers.
AS went really well today. Peanut is 13oz and measuring 1.5 weeks ahead which is reassuring knowing that he/she is a little bigger for when we have to induce early, my other kiddos were all on the smaller side. With all of our other kiddos Iโve had to back for more photos of the heart multiple times but our Tech got everything and really fast so we got see baby in 3D for a while which is always fun. We are still team green even though it was super hard not to peek today. ill have to go back for a few more ultrasounds due to Pregnancy induced hypertension and that Iโve had Pre-E with all of my kiddos but Iโm thankful that everything is looking good for now.ย
Continued thoughts and prayers for everyone still waiting for answers to the unsettling questions. โค๏ธ
Iโm 20 weeks today and had my anatomy scan today. ย It went really well, baby seems to be growing great and the tech was able to see everything she needed to. We did have to switch to a vaginal us because once agin I was having a contraction the entire tone and she needed to check the position of the placenta. I found out itโs still low lying and 1.5cm from the cervix so in 8 weeks theyโll check again and fingers crossed it moves to that 2cm they want.ย
I have an anterior placenta for the 3rd time and they say that means feeling baby less ย but I felt plenty of movements and kicks with my other 2 so Iโm not worried ๐ฅฐ
she mentioned that heโs 85% for weight which I donโt really understand why they even tell us that.ย

@perfectlove09 I have an anterior placenta too but the only reason I know that is bc I read the report, neither the US tech nor my MW mentioned it. I did realize that I donโt feel much movement in the very front of my stomach though. Most is down very low and occasionally off to the sidesย
Had mine today. Everything looks okay - no signs of neural tube defects. But they'll see me again in 4 weeks due to the 2 high AFP tests. Baby looked good... the dr did note I may have a bicornuate uterus or a septum but he didn't seem concerned at all. Relieved!ย
@obsessedwithoranges so glad that things are looking great w/baby. Always better to have a second check to be sure (and of course an extra peak is always good too). Are you still stuck on pelvic rest?
@prpl11butterfly nope, no more pelvic rest! Placenta has moved enough. DH is so relieved, haha. @galentine - my critter is breech as well. Will definitely be paying attention to all the tips and tricks all you ladies have!
Had my follow-up AS this morning. They were able to get the rest of the pictures they needed, so that is good. Baby is still showing an echogenic bowel, which is still concerning. All of my non-invasive tests have ruled out the most common causes, so we don't know the reason why. The Dr. had a theory that one of my fibroids that is positioned close to the placenta wall could be a possible cause (theory being that it could be causing some bleeding that baby is swallowing and causing the echogenic bowel). Apparently this could also be cause for the elevated AFP as well. We declined the amnio again because any additional knowledge at this stage is simply not worth the risk to us.
Good news is that there are no other areas of concern and at this point everything else is looking healthy and on track. Our plan forward is to have increased monitoring during the pregnancy, which basically means ultrasounds every three weeks. Not ideal and hard not to worry, but we are staying hopeful that everything will be ok.
@mrsinterweb Iโm sorry that your follow up scan didnโt easy your worries. ย Iโm glad they are continuing to monitor the situation. ย Is there a possibility that it could resolve its self before delivery?ย
@mrsinterweb I'm so glad that so much came back positive at your follow-up scan! I know you still have concerning questions, but hopefully you'll be able find some peace in the positive knowledge you have at the moment. You have all of us here supporting you. ๐
@mrsinterweb I so wish that all of your concerns had been squashed. Hope you can put your worries aside and ย enjoy every kick you feel over the next four months. Thinking of you!
