Re: May Randoms

  • @purplefan1 how dare you!  Mine does that daily, I feel your pain.  I have to flush it as he poops, a “courtesy flush,” so I don’t need to smell it and get sick and he gets so mad.
  • Loading the player...
  • @rogro118 Im laughing so hard at courtesy flush. Mine lately has been telling us she is busy and to go away. Which Im totally ok with. It is a step in the right direction from when I had to hold her hands and she stared me directly in the eye as she pooped. That ish was weird.

Also, she told her dad as soon as he came home that momma made her cry because she didnt get to see the poo. He gets the gold star for taking her upset seriously.
  • @purplefan1 😂 the tattletaling to dad is something else, we haven’t gotten to that stage yet, but when we do, I’m in for it!  I’m happy for your sake she’s asking for privacy!  When I was pregnant with my son I was a special ed. kindergarten teacher and I had four children we had to work on toileting with.  I don’t know how I survived that school year if I’m this turned off by my own child this time around.
  • Any good book recommendations?  Birthing, raising children, young adult post apocalypse, I’ll read anything!
  • @rogro118 Currently reading Confessions of a Domestic Failure by Bunmi Laditan. She also wrote Toddlers are A*holes (and its not your fault) and The Honest Toddler. Im really liking Confessions right now!
  • @rogro118 - I am reading "Easier, Happier Calmer Parenting" for my toddlers which is AMAZING at helping change habits and then I read a ton of sci-fi series so it you are interested in those I like Mercy Thomson Series, Women of the Otherworld series, Mistborn and Monster Hunters.

Lately I have been reading Pride and Prejudice variations as my guilty pleasure.   They are short and I know they have happy endings which is what i need with 2 crazy children and one on the way. :)
  • I'm trying to get the motivation to drive to the gym and swim some laps this morning. It wouldn't be a huge deal but it can take 30 minutes to get there if traffic is bad.
  • @emeraldcity1214 woo hoo, good job! I have a swim date with my husband tomorrow night. Swimming feels a lot better than running to me right now!

@emeraldcity1214 way to go on motivating yourself! kicking it poolside and napping sound like the best things today. All I can think about is taking a nap...soooo sleepy :)

  • What is everyone up to? I feel like it is a ghost town in here sometimes.

I have to take DD1 to dance today. Then I'm pretty much doing the same thing I have been doing every day this week, which is pack. I bought some space saver bags and put the clothes I have had in storage in them. Now instead of having them in 4 boxes I can fit them into 1. I'm going to do the same with the blankets and comforters we have. I may do it with some of my clothes in my closet. My husband keeps telling me we can't take what won't fit on the truck. I have gotten rid of tons of stuff but some stuff I'm just not willing to part with.
  • @emeraldcity1214 those space saver bags are great especially for the comforters and blankets. I can't imagine having to pick and choose stuff like that! For some things I feel like I am borderline hoarder.

I haven't really been around this week much, I lurked a little but haven't been posting. I've just been feeling tired, achy, and kind of down. I have a cold so I'm sure that's not helping my mood. Also, my birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks, and I always seem to get in a  funk around then.  I'm working from home today, so at least I can try to rest a little and maybe exercise. I feel like I've really fallen off the wagon there. I should really get motivated to finish my work so I can do these other things, but instead I cleaned up the kitchen from breakfast and then tooled around online some.

Tomorrow I'm going shopping for some new maternity clothes with my mom. MH has to work all weekend, so my dad will watch DS for me and then we'll probably have dinner there with them.

It is often pretty quiet on this board as far as board go.
  • @creamcheeseplease my birthday is June 14th and I also get in a funk around my bday. I'm turning 35 too so that isn't going to help. Although my 30's have been the best years of my life so far. As for picking and choosing things, it is hard. I would rather not have to have my kids lose any of their stuff so I'm trying to make a huge effort to downsize more on my end.
  • I'm in Ohio visiting family this week. My dad has his retirement ceremony today and my brother graduates from high school tomorrow. I'm just soaking up time with my family before we leave to drive back to GA on Sunday.
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • @emeraldcity1214 moving is so hard. A great opportunity to purge but I totally get the struggle. We've had to move a few times over the last 6ish years due to a natural disaster that had us displaced, and then out of our house recently so the city could elevate our home. Good luck to you in every respect with the move.

Otherwise, I feel like as far as my pregnancy is concerned I have not much to add and just trying to get through these last few weeks of school! Last summer, I volunteered to watch my son's friend after school when his mom worked and I didn't know them very well but she needed help. It's been kind of a nightmare for so many reasons and I went from watching him a few days a week to every single day for months now and I hate to say it but I can't wait for it to be over and not have to see them anymore or do this next year because of baby.
  • @creamcheeseplease Ugh that was me last week, I hope you feel better!

@emeraldcity1214 woo, I'm an old lady over here, turning 38 in October! 😂 Totally agree that 30s are the best!

I'm just working working working today although I treated myself to an iced coffee on the way to work and I'm meeting my husband at the Y tonight for a swim date. Really looking forward to having Monday off and trying out our new grill this weekend!
  • As I was getting my kids in the car to take DD1 to dance, I started gagging. Then I ran to the front yard and got sick. As I was driving away, my neighbor across the street was just staring at me. 🤦‍♀️ Ugh, I just waved and acted like nothing just happened. 😂

@emeraldcity1214 that’s the worst 😂. It’s been sneaking up on me this week too, I nearly had to throw my son off the toilet when he was getting ready for bed the other night.

I agree it’s been so quiet around here, I only lurked when I was pregnant with my son but I feel like there was so much more going on!  I guess it is a busy time of year; especially with the holiday this weekend.

I’ve been sick all week, my husband ended up with pneumonia, we both caught the cough that my son had.  I don’t have pneumonia thankfully, but I’ve been trying to avoid the antibiotics they gave me (my pcp left it up to me to take them if I felt worse), but this cough is lingering!  My son is finally better after day 12 today.  We went to his medal ceremony for his gym class this morning and it was so cute, he loved it!  It was great to finally be out of the house for something other than a walk.  Now he’s napping and I’m sitting on our porch eating leftover tomato, cucumber, feta salad from dinner last night.  I think these are the first vegetables I’ve eaten willingly in weeks!

Anyone have fun plans for the holiday weekend?  Our weather in Boston is finally going to be in the 70s, maybe even 80 and I’m SO excited!

@emeraldcity1214 no!! the surprise vomit attack! hehe guess it comes with the territory.

I've been lurking but sooo stressed at work. I had a mini breakdown about it 2 nights ago and MH got mad at ME bc I was in a bad mood. (?!?) Not a good look for my dude. I'm going through sh*t right now...I can't be all rosy and peppy just because you want me to be. Then he was using his fork so aggressively and chewing so loudly at dinner and not speaking to me. PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE much!? Is this what they call pregnancy rage!?

I'm just so thankful that it's the weekend and we can duck out of the office a few hours early today. My sister is visiting me again this weekend and I'm SOOOO excited to just hang with her. It's hard being so far from my fam.

@rogro118 so jealous of your nice weather!! it's going to be 60 and rainy here all weekend in LA. Booooo!!

  • @mc0303 Pregnancy rage is real. It's probably a miracle I haven't yelled at my staff. I had some moments with my husband earlier on when he didn't seem to understand why I didn't feel up to things around the house and why I needed to sleep instead of be affectionate with him.
  • mc0303mc0303 member
@runningfortwo81 yes!!! I’d always rather be napping. MH can’t figure out why I don’t want to snuggle up with him...I’m like dude my body is so achy and I have to position myself just so to relax

  • @mc0303 I totally had a meltdown about work today so I feel you. I was anticipating an easy day since it is the day before a long weekend and I'm working from home, but I got slammed with stuff and sat on a realllllly pointless 2 hour conference call and then I cried.. lol.

@emeraldcity1214 so sorry about the surprise sick attack! that sounds awful.

@rogro118 I hope you feel better! That salad sounds so good.
  • It seems much quieter in here than on other boards I have been on. We also dont seem to be in the habit of doing some of the weekly posts like FFFC or whatever Thursdays used to be or whatever. Maybe if we came up with more random weekly things we could get more engagement?
  • @purplefan1 I have tried starting UO and FFFC and only 1 or 2 people comment. I feel like people are scared to actually comment on those for some reason. We could do a twat  waffle Tuesday. Isn't there a Bitch Fest Monday? I can't remember. I'm down for more I interactive threads. We could do more GTKY threads.

It seems like this board just has a lot less regular posters. When we went to Facebook I think my others baby month board had at ~90 active members who went over with us.  Having a smaller group might not be a bad thing though, it will be easier to remember names and details  and move beyond just superficial posting.
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • Lol what is twat waffle Tuesday??? 😂🤣😂🤣

I could get down with a bitch fest too.
  • KurtniKurtni member
    🙋‍♀️ I support Monday bitchfest
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @runningfortwo81 anyone that pisses you off is a twat waffle.
  • mc0303mc0303 member
@creamcheeseplease I feel you!! Work always manages to get under my skin.

I’d be down for some GTKY! I’ve struggled with coming up with UOs. Hehe

  • Back in the day on TB when people pissed you off you could actually call them a twat waffle. Now that would get you a warning. 😂

The old bump was a scary place to post sometimes because you could get flamed for ANYTHING but it was very entertaining. Threads would go on for pages and pages. Now they get shut down way too fast. Half the time if you aren't there to view the drama as it unfolds you miss it entirely.
  • I decided to check on the baby with my doppler. He wasn't in his usual spot so I searched around a bit and heard it for a split second and then it was gone. So I searched and searched low near my pubic bone and then halfway between my belly button and pubic bone, where I usually find him. I heard nothing but my own HB. So then I started going a little higher. I found his HB right next to my belly button!!! I was not expecting him to be so high. I guess my uterus is really starting to get up there! I also felt a little flutter. It caught me off guard and it was so exciting! I really hate having an anterior placenta because I know I would be feeling lots of flutters right now if it was posterior.
  • @emeraldcity1214 flutters are so exciting!

@mc0303 the pregnancy rage is so real.  I’m managaing a lot better than my first, granted I was in a high stress job, but being home with a toddler isn’t much different 😂.  When my son gets upset we’ve been having him practice deep breaths.  So whenever I’m about to lose it for the ten hundredth time, I end up singing the Daniel Tiger song to myself “take a deep breath and count to four.”  My son’s reallllly getting the hang of it to say the least!

I’m all for more regular threads.  My old board had people assigned to the weekly threads if anyone wants to organize that I’d be more than happy to remember to post one every week!
  • @rogro118 I like having assigned threads. That way it will get posted.
  • @rogro118 I didn't realize you were from Boston too!  I work in the city but I live in up on the North Shore. What about you? And I'm down for assigned threads. Once we figure our who is doing which thread, I can update the Board Organization thread.  :)

I am SO glad to hear pregnancy rage is a thing. I had a coworker tell me "take a deep breath, itll be ok" like 5 times tonight at work, all in probably a 10 minute time frame. Like I usually get irritated when I'm fixing stupid mistakes that our day shift ignores, but it was extra bad tonight.
  • @klstone25 hey!  I’m on the South Shore!
  • I think it was probably extra quiet because of the holiday weekend.  I know I have my in-laws and it is hard to find the 'Me' time to check emails/texts let alone the bump.  I'll be happy for Tuesday.

Also, to the Boston-ites @klstone25 & @rogro118!  I am coming up for my 5th wedding anniversary in August.  Any recommendations of things to do?
  • @Dancer688 fun!  Where are you staying?  Just you two, or any kids?
  • @rogro118 - my mom has an apartment up there around Fenway Park.

Thank goodness my mom is going to watch the kids so just the husband and I.  :)
