@dpchickens What the heck!!! I’m so sorry you have to deal with all of that! We had my BIL for a couple years so I TOTALLY feel you! Hopefully they can get their stuff together soon!
@inthewoods23 my headphones are not noise cancelling... my coworker has them and she looks like she's guiding an airplane in for a landing haha I may have to look into getting some though.

@kpearse99 So I wanted to note here: I have noise cancelling headphones & they make me nauseated! I can't always wear them because of that. I've never actually gotten sick, they just make me feel sick--I still use them, I just can't for an extended period of time and sometimes not at all. If you can, borrow someone's and use them for at least and hour to make sure you're not like...
Today's TW is one of our sales guys and/or customers...
A customer sent an email to a sales guy timestamped at 5:02. His email was forwarded to us at 6:15 (obviously after hours). Then today around 8:45 the sales guy is like "customer called this morning asking for a update" like dude, I'm just seeing this now, why are you so impatient? It's not like you sent the request yesterday morning and we didn't answer it. We literally didn't know about it until we came in today.
Sigh..

@kagesstarshroom Funny story about that! My uncle worked for Bose, and used to get really great discounts for friends and family. I bought a pair of noise cancelling headphones through him and was using them at work. They worked great, but at the end of the day, I felt like I was carsick! I went home, felt fine the next day, then came to work the next day and put them on, and started to feel sick again! I had never heard of this happening, so I Googled it, and it's pretty uncommon, but some people do experience motion sickness from it. Apparently they work by sending a frequency into your ear that cancels out surrounding sounds. Motion sickness can be caused by a mismatch between your inner ear and your visual system. So, in a car your body feels like it is not moving, but your eyes looking out the window see that you are moving, and your equilibrium gets confused and causes nausea. In the case of the noise cancelling headphones, your ears think there is movement due to the frequencies, but your eyes say you're sitting still, so can have the same effect! I emailed my uncle to tell him about it, and he forwarded my email the head of the headphones department (which I was not expecting him to do!). He told me that he also had the same issue! He told me he just kept using them and eventually got over it, but I think he had a bit more vested interest than me, haha. I ended up trading them in for regular cushioned headphones, which muffle out a lot of ambient noise and I love them.
That was a really long story, but you're one of the only people I've heard of who suffers from this unusual ailment like me!

@shamrocandroll Mine were a gift, so I never considered trying to trade them in bc I didn't want to bug anyone for a receipt and also it was EXACTLY what I'd asked for lol =/ Maybe, as per your uncle's example, I will just used them a bunch and get over it! I eventually googled it, but I didn't realize it was so rare? ANNOYING. Of course I have to be one of the few who this happens to lol.
@kagesstarshroom So, you can also just use them as regular headphones by removing the batteries that power the noise cancelling feature, I believe! Or they might even have a switch to just turn it off. Are the cushioned, around the ear kind?

Today’s TW is some dude that just joined our giant conference call and was raging about Spanish speaking people. Dropped the f bomb and everything. They realized their line wasn’t muted a few seconds later and then there was just this long awkward pause and this lady just goes..”oh my god”. Wonder how many languages this inevitably middle aged white dude speaks?
eta that I’m sad I can’t figure out the new system because I didn’t see who was talking, because our director would’ve torn him a new one. Sadly she hadn’t joined the call yet.
@shamrocandroll that's interesting! DH gets motion sickness in cars but has no trouble with my noise cancelling headphones which he uses while mowing the lawn.

@inthewoods23 Apparently it's pretty uncommon. Maybe it's less likely for him because he's moving while using them? I was just sitting at my desk at a computer screen. But I also think there are varying degrees of sensitivity, and I'm just on the more sensitive side. I have mild vertigo as well, so I just generally have some inner ear equilibrium issues. It's super fun.

@shamrocandroll They're wireless Beats, so yeah, there's a cushion around the ear? I looked up online to see if I could find a way to turn it off & there isn't. But if I could remove a thing, that would be greattttt. I wish they were the same as the Bose you had so your uncle could give you advice for me. Alas! They're super badass and super pretty. ALAS AGAIN.
@inthewoods23 Does YH get motion sickness just as a passenger or just when he is looking down? I get motion sickness when I look down too much in a car, which sucks bc we take these monster car rides, and as an English major/lover of literature, I'd love to read during them or write--but really, I can do pretty much nothing. But I don't get it driving--I got it REALLY BAD on this crazy bus ride we took in Jamaica where the guy was driving like a race car driver for like 3 hours to our destination. That was... memorably nuts. I thought I was gonna puke but didn't... Anyway.
My TW is my secretary. But it's always my secretary. I'm convinced she actually tries to be lazy and incompetent. Today's highlight so far (it's only 8:45 here): she made me stand by her desk and wait while she had a conversation on her cell phone with her "best friend" who I think is a little more than that - and she's married.
Yesterday in a FB group I'm in, someone posted screenshots of a text convo they had back and forth. This woman was previously a teacher or something (she was suuuper qualified) and was looking for a nanny job. The woman looking for a nanny sent a screenshot of a profile in the text and said, "Is this you?" The candidate said yes and then she goes, "Oh, sorry, I didn't realize you were Hispanic. I have to decline." And went on to say her daughter is very picky and had a bad experience with a Hispanic nanny previously. Like, WTF lady!
Not as bad, but irked me: This guy I work with spun out his car and another car stopped to see if he was okay. Guy telling the story says, "These Hispanic guys stop and ask if I'm okay." That was it. Just had to drop that they were Hispanic for some reason. Oooookay....
@kagesstarshroom Oh boo. My experience was from forever ago, back when headphones still plugged in, and the noise cancelling feature had a separate battery. Yours is probably all integrated into the same battery. I would email support and ask them if they have any solutions and see what they suggest!
