@galentine along the same lines, I was annoyed at our NT scan they didn't tell me ahead of time to have a full bladder for better imaging. At my first two ultrasounds with my RE they asked me to empty my bladder before my ultrasound so I did the same thing before my NT scan. Then the tech said she had a hard time getting clear images because my bladder was empty and most of my pictures are super blurry. Not the most important thing, but our NT scan images of DS #1 were so perfect and clear and a great keepsake. This one not so much. *sigh*

Depending on the timing of your NT, you actually don’t need a full bladder (just some stuff in it) 🙈 there’s a lot of variables like baby cooperation, equipment, and tech skills that go into determining how good photos are
as long as you are “showing,” you won’t need a full bladder for your A/S or any subsequent scans, though a lot of receptions hear “ultrasound” and immediately go “full bladder.” (This is a FYI in general)
I've always been told full bladder for US. They tell you how much to drink in the hour leading up. BUT I always end up too full. Apparently the last tech made a comment to MH about it and he told her it's because I have an app that tells me when to drink. She said I only have to drink about half the amount. Apparently the better hydrated you are on a regular basis the more fluid goes directly to your bladder. Why did no one tell me that before?!
Weird! I have specifically been told to empty my bladder, but that might have been just for a TV US? I don't think they ever said anything to me for my most recent couple, and I definitely gave a urine sample to my OB right before going in for my NT scan.
Also, my UO is that I don't really care one way or another about pee sticks. They don't gross me out at all (unless you try to hand me a dripping one or something), and I know they're against Bump policy, but if I see one I just shrug and move on. I did comment on our recent thread, but only to protest the idea that people were being rude.

It normally doesn’t bother me, but it apparently does this pregnancy 🤷🏼♀️
They told me to have a full bladder for the A/S, and the tech said that was a big part of why she got such clear views. 🤷🏻♀️
My tech with DS1 actually told me to empty it. As I said above, there’s a lot of factors that go into this, though, not just bladder fullness
@steminist empty bladders for TV scans, though I don’t know the science behind that one. I walked right out of the bathroom and into my anatomy scan with this one, but I also get mine done with a level II machine, which makes a difference with image quality

I actually agree with this - the only reason it bothers me is that it literally takes minutes, and only minutes, to click on the "read first" thread at the top of the page. And it clearly spells these things out, so it feels a bit like willful ignorance sometimes.
I started my A/S with an empty bladder, but it apparently filled up during the scan, and the US tech asked me to empty it again mid-scan. I wasn't expecting that!
@galentine and @jenferlee82 I am shocked all you got was a disk. I get so many printouts at every ultrasound. A disk seems so.... 90s. A lot of computers don't even have a dvd slot/reader anymore (well for those of us MAC users anyway). But happy for both of you that your A/S went well. I will admit when I didn't see @galentine on here alllllll weekend and then basically all day yesterday I got a little nervous that something was up. Happy I'm wrong.
@junebabyh, aww sorry to scare you. Thanks for thinking of me ❤❤❤
And the disk thing is soooo 90s! None of our computers have a disk drive, so I took it to work so I could at least add the photos to Google drive. It's so ridiculous though. They might as well have given me a floppy disk. 🙄

We don’t even have disc drives at work anymore. We have some daycare photos that came on disc that we still haven’t uploaded anywhere because we don’t have that tech in our house anymore!

We don't have disc drives on our work laptops either. Thankfully I have a very old personal laptop that I hadn't used in years, which has one. I was able to dig that out and get our pictures and videos. The pictures weren't great, but the videos are pretty fun at least so that helps!
@galentine I’m actually flabbergasted that you didn’t get print outs! That’s all I’ve ever gotten
Same! She handed me the disk, and I kind of stood there a moment, like.... that's it?!
That's all I've ever gotten was discs with at least 2 videos and 5 pictures. I print them out through Shutterfly when I do my picture prints. I printed this baby's at Walmart cause I needed them for pictures lol it would be nice to get the cute little prints though
The one ultrasound I had done they were going to give us a disc but DH just took pictures from the monitor instead. If it was for the AS I would’ve taken the disc to Target but that was good enough for us for that scan. The office I’ll be going to next Tuesday for our AS (yay!) emails everything. I do miss the little print out though
Confession (I think?): I feel like I'm the only FTM that isn't looking forward to registering for baby stuff. There are an overwhelming number of choices and I just want to be told what is good and what isn't, but I also want say in the matter. So basically, I'm in disagreement with myself.

🤷
I feel exactly the same way. It just feels like a chore that I wish someone else would do for me, but only if they will get exactly what I want. LOL. I sat down and just did it one afternoon a week or two ago, because I knew I had to get it out of the way.
When we registered for our wedding, we basically added everything we thought we'd want, then we jumped on the registry at home and made sure we got things that had the best reviews and replaced things that weren't as good. With the baby stuff, I've been doing research beforehand, but I'm thinking it may be smarter to maybe go about it the same way we did the wedding registry?
Why is this so stressful? It feels so silly to stress over, but I guess the health and safety of the baby is at stake, so it makes sense.
@meagan-t I did, I used babybargains.com to read up on most of the key items. Then I spent a ton of time reading Amazon reviews, and also called my best friend (who is a mother of two) and SIL (also a mother of two) for their input on a couple of things where I was undecided. DH wanted literally nothing to do with it so I just buckled down and got it done. I can't say I enjoyed it, to be honest!
The product spotlights are sooooo helpful too! I've found after 2 kiddos the best thing to do is take what youre given and learn from your own experience! I had a lot with DS I never used so I avoided with DD. This time I'm trying a few new things like baby wearing actively and a new breast pump! It's all a live and learn experience darlings. Best way to do it just go with what you get and grow from there too. Research reviews! A great website is WeeSpring, although I will say they tend to put more expensive items at the top but they use personal reviews from Mom's! I'm part of their Parent Panel to test products out so I know they're actually from people that have used the products! Check the site out, it's beyond helpful ☺️ you have us STM and TTM+ here to help too!
