Re: May Symptoms Thread

  • I will admit that I started this thread selfishly.

I have these two large (like 3 or 4 inch diameter) red patches on both of my breasts. They're in the same place on each one, on the inside to the side of the nips. They're kind of itchy and achey. I googled what fresh stretch marks look like, but it doesn't look similar. Anyone else have similar symptoms?

  • - I can hear an almost constant pulse in my right ear. Like a blood pumping sound almost. This happened with DS too.
    - Constipation of course. I feel like I need to do a colon cleanse before my next appointment so they don’t think I gained 5lbs!
    - Peeing every 15 mins
    - Lots of kicks and rolls from the baby ❤️
    - I can finally manage to stay up until 11 which is helping me keep my sanity since my alone time with DH was severely lacking!
    - I can stomach coffee again!!!
  • @themadcamel Any chance it’s eczema? I’ve heard of PG peeps developing it.
  • @themadcamel I think @LJMoon6 had a weird boob patch too?  (sorry if I'm remembering wrong...)
  • @themadcamel I agree that sounds like eczema, but in the same spots on both sides is weird. Could there be something irritating in that spot in your bra?
  • @themadcamel @ljmoon6 What you guys have is probably related to pregnancy, and not a virus, but I had something called pityriasis rosea which started redish dry looking patch on my breast, then a few weeks later branched out to smaller red patches on my trunk. It all disappeared in a month. Not itchy, just unpleasant to look at.

Link to the details in spoiler
  • @lillywonderland @duewithpu2 93% sure it's not eczema. I have flare ups of that on my neck sometimes, and this doesn't look or feel anything like it. Could be the bra, but I've been wearing several different ones and in different styles/brands. I'll add it to the million questions I'll be asking OB next week ha.
@nomangos23 hmmm, maybe that's it. My patches aren't dry, they just look like the rest of the skin on my breasts except they're red.

@themadcamel I have something similar sounding. Mine started about 2 months ago. I also get eczema flairs so I know this is not that (not dry or flaky). My boobs are only itchy in that spot. I figured it was something pregnancy related but brought it up to my OB a month ago. She made the comment that it looked like a bruise… could be stretch marks (although I hadn’t grown at all by that point). So then of course I googled bruised boob and freaked myself out. At my next appointment (a month later) I brought it up again because it hadn’t gone away. She sent me to get an US which came back normal. Now they want to send me to derm but I don’t think I’m going to go. I think in my case I probably itched too hard and caused the marks myself. I have olive tinted skin, so when my scabs heal I’m left with a bruised looking mark for a while (example: I went down a water slide a year ago and gave myself a rug/plastic burn. I still have what looks like a bruise where the scab used to be). All that is to say I think it’s probably hormonal. Definitely bring it up to your OB tho and press for an US if that will help ease your mind. I’m glad I got mine in the end.

  • @LJMoon6 yes, it does sound similar to what you went/are going through! I know it's stupid, but I'm nervous to ask ob to look at my breasts. I feel like all the attention is focused on the parts below my waist, but like... my areolae are 4 shades darker and look like freaking moon rocks. Look at my booooooooobs pls.
  • @themadcamel I bet they're really used to looking at people's boobs! Whether it's breastfeeding stuff postpartum, or people with questions about breast changes in pregnancy, or just the routine breast checks - definitely ask about it, even if just for peace of mind.
  • LJMoon6LJMoon6 member
@themadcamel I don't think it's silly to be nervous. But I do think they look at boobs all the time. My OB was actually giving me a routine breast exam when I mentioned it to her.

  • the swelling is real with this pregnancy! Oh my goodness.. ankles and fingers.. I didn’t experience this with my daughter until late 3rd trimester.. I’ve been exercising and notice it getting worse?! Now I have to ask myself if it’s worth it to go for my morning walks. I have a desk job so I’m not on my feet all day. I’ve also passed on eating my favorite craving... pickles 😩
Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • @tableforfourplease nothing is worth giving up pickles! Walking? Maybe. But you can pry my pickles from my puffy ass fingers!!
  • kraanekraane member
@duewithpu2 I have that weird pumping sound in my left ear every so often too. One of the daily facts I think this week was that there is more blood pumping in the body in general so that might have something to do with it.

@tableforfourplease I’m puffy but I’m not giving up my pickles.

@themadcamel My boobs have been achy and any bit of cold makes them worse. Haven’t dealt with the red spots but it wouldn’t hurt asking your doc about it.

@RedBreast35 I can’t believe you are seeing movement already. Sunday night was the first night I felt baby on the outside and he/she’s been moving more since.
  • By 5pm (before dinnertime) my belly is so tight feeling....I know my body has done it 2x already but how is my skin going to stretch? I don't know how I've never gotten stretch marks
  • @dinosaur You're not alone!! I pee myself often now, too. 😳
  • @dinosaur @lillywonderland I somehow never really got the full "peeing your pants is the coolest" experience with DS, but it's definitely on the upswing over here too.  An unexpected sneeze when I don't have time to clench everything is basically borderline change-my-underwear territory  :#

Sometimes when I walk I get a sharp pain down my left butt/hip/leg. Stupid sciatica. I got it badly with my first towards the end.
  • Anyone feel their belly tighten randomly? Not sure if its baby doing body rolls oorrrrrr...something else that probably isn't as scary as I'm thinking. Usually only last 30 seconds or less.
  • @nomangos23 Is it in a particular spot or all over belly?  Could be braxton hicks.
  • @monkeysmommy Both, it could be lower left side of belly, or the could be the whole thing. Usually its just isolated to one area.
  • @nomangos23 I've been feeling random belly tightening too. No idea what it is, though. I just figure it's all part and parcel of being KU haha.

@nomangos23 The isolated in certain parts is most likely baby moving around or sticking their butt out. All over is usually braxton hicks

ETA: It gets fun when they get bigger and you can make out what body part they are pushing out
  • @nomangos23, @themadcamel For me, BH makes me lose my breath a little also. I’ve been feeling BH for a couple weeks now. Completely normal!!
  • I had no idea that braxton hicks could start this early! All you ever really hear about them before getting KU are the stories about rushing to the hospital thinking you're in labor but it turns out they're BH contractions so they send you back home.
  • LJMoon6LJMoon6 member

@nomangos23 I’m so glad you asked this because I was feeling weird this weekend too and I had no idea how to explain the feeling. I think I’m experiencing the same thing. My stomach was feeling tight. Sometimes all over, sometimes localized right above my belly button. Now, seeing everyone else’s response makes me think that maybe they were BH. But also maybe LO moving too. I thought I was just uncomfortable since I was camping and sitting on hard chairs all weekend. I had no idea BH could start this early either! So crazy.

  • The BH are real right now! Anytime I have to pee or walk up any stairs, I get BH. Definitely started several weeks earlier this time than with DS. It's just such a blast!  :|

Anyone else hearing their heartbeat in their ears? I'm assuming it's because of the extra blood volume in my body but, damn, it's been annoying the last couple days!

@LJMoon6 not in my ears, but in my stomach. It is actually super annoying. I think I'm feeling the baby and then I'm like, nope, just that giant artery pumping away.

  • @LJMoon6 is your blood pressure elevated?  That's what I thought of first.
  • LJMoon6LJMoon6 member
@monkeysmom80 Not sure. I guess I could check it tomorrow at my mom's. I did Google it and it seems to be normal?

  • @LJMoon6 yes! It’s almost constant for me. It sounds like a wooshing heart beat. It happened a lot with DS and I never did get any answers as to why, but my blood pressure has never been high.
  • @LJMoon6 @kgg2241 this is crazy the same thing happened to me last night! Laying on my left side I heard a fast heartbeat faster than my own. I clocked it between 190/200 bpm. My own heartrate as measured on my neck was around 80 at the time. I had just chugged a ton of water and in the moment I was like "Is that the baby's heartbeat? Is that too fast? Is the water in my stomach amplifying the sound??" I think maybe I was squishing a blood vessel in my head or neck near and hearing the result. Maybe?? It didn't sound like a whoosh it was like fast tapping like little hoofbeats or something. I readjusted and after about five minutes it went away. Some googling has me curious about the blood pumping abilities of a placenta ... maybe that's what I was hearing? So strange! Anybody ever heard of being able to hear your placenta without amplification? Also, anybody else generate their own pet theories throughout the day? Sometimes I think I'm just nuts lol.
