How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms): feeling good but exhausted. I felt like I was getting some energy back but the last week or so I’m just beat. I could go to bed at 7pm and not wake up till 10am.... except to pee at least 5 times.
I’ve been on a BLT kick. Can’t get enough!

Rants/Raves: I went to a friends bachelorette party yesterday. It was on the river (floating/swimming) and I didn’t get sunburnt! 🙌🏻 Damn proud of myself for the adequate sunscreen application.

Questions:

GTKY: Have you thought of nursery themes? What is it? We are looking at a fun “adventure” theme. Wildlife, camping, mountains, trees.... I’m also a big fan of dinosaurs so I’m sure there will be some of those too.

How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms): I had PPD after DS and it’s rearing it’s ugly head. I opened up with DH about how bad I’m feeling last night. I didn’t want to be a burden so I hadn’t told him. I also emailed the therapist I used to see to set up an appointment. Physically my uterus gets crampy and I get SO tired if I do much which is affecting my mood.

Feeling pretty good but already feeling much bigger and out of breath at this stage than I did with my others. Hoped on the scale yesterday and discovered I gained 5lbs in one week 😧 I’m blaming it on post Easter treats but daaamn wasn’t expecting that!

Rants/Raves: kids are back in school this week 🎉

Rave: Were a few months away from paying off one of our student loans! Were on a strict budget right now and its been helping a lot and this is a big milestone for us

Rants/Raves: Confirmed movement last night 😍. I've suspected but wasn't certain. Last night DH did a doppler check so I knew where baby was hanging out. After that he got me some icecream and since I know where baby was, I know the pressure I felt after the first few bites was most definitely from him/her. It was a great relief to just be able to feel something ♥️

Upcoming Appointments: this Wednesday. I’m kind of nervous (TW - fear of loss)

This stage of pregnancy really messes with my head. It’s been 4 weeks since my last doctor's appointment and especially since we’re telling people now, I start to wonder whether everything is really ok. I’m not feeling movement yet (maybe once or twice?), I haven’t gotten a home Doppler to work (I didn’t last pregnancy either so I’m not really worried about that), and I’m just sitting here assuming everything is fine but I have no proof. I don’t have any reason to think anything is actually wrong. I just get in my head.

How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms): Still some nausea but no vomiting for the last few days. I’m traveling this weekend for a wedding and I’m really really hoping I don’t feel awful for the wedding.

RLP has been getting worse and I had crazy insomnia last night followed by vivid nightmares. Still better than nausea.

Cravings: not really a craving but I feel less sick when I eat beef for dinner, so we’ve been eating burgers and steak a lot. We used to be mostly vegetarian (chicken or pork maybe once or twice a week, beef maybe once or twice a month). I still can’t really stomach veggies either. So it’s a pretty big shift in diet.

Rants/Raves: I’ve gained more weight than I would have liked already. Between stopping nursing, switching from water to juice or milk (hooray water aversion) and switching from lots of veggies to lots of beef and cheese, I’m not surprised. I’m trying to remind myself that I’ve been in survival mode for the past 8 weeks or so, but I hope my doctor doesn’t make a big deal out of it.

Oh poor second child. My daughter’s room is so lovely. This kid will be lucky if he has a bedroom that isn’t also a storage area by the time he’s born (he’ll sleep in our room at first anyway so I’m not worried about safety... but if know if isn’t done before he’s born it might not ever get done).

How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms): Feeling okay. I started feeling slightly nauseous last night grocery shopping but I drank a Kiwi Strawberry Snapple and felt better.

Rants/Raves: Disneyland was so much fun on Saturday! DS had a blast, I got a maple bacon churro so all was good. Macy's is having 30% off so I splurged and bought lots of maternity clothes. I couldn't help it, my self-esteem has been low because I just feel so fat (not in the belly) and I worked so hard to lose weight before getting KU and I went off my BC and my hips/butt/thighs got so big.

GTKY: Have you thought of nursery themes? What is it? We painted DS' room a light blue that is very gender neutral (it's Benjamin Moore 'Glass Slipper'), and just decorated with accents of DC/Marvel superheroes. Not really going to change that until this LO is ready to sleep in there and at that point, I'm hoping we will be ready to move into a bigger house and the kids can each have their own room.

How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms): Sinus headaches (not pregnancy related) that make my stomach a little queasy as well. The nausea is still gone, but reappears every third day or so. I have a bunch of other symptoms, but they're sporadic, like heartburn. I also started getting hot flashes at night a couple nights ago, so that's fun.

Rants/Raves: I'm so glad the nausea is mostly gone, even with the fact that I now have headaches more often. I'll always take a headache over a stomachache, hands down.

Still annoyed by the house we bought a few months ago. I feel like we got duped on a lot of stuff that needed fixing/replacing that weren't looked at to that degree during the inspection (swamp yard, nasty stove/microwave that didn't work well, multiple paint shades on almost every single wall that the lighting didn't show/pictures covered when we were here for viewings, etc.). I'm trying to not let it bother me, but we wanted a house with a lot less DIY while we start our family.

GTKY: Have you thought of nursery themes? What is it? Meh. Not really. All I know is that I want green horizontal stripes on at least one wall and maybe some small Noah's Ark type accents.

Feeling pretty good! I'm starting to get a teeny tiny amount of energy back, so I have been trying to do like 1 chore per day, because I had been doing zero while I was feeling so sick....LOL.

Rants/Raves:

My week is so busy! I kind of hate being busy, because I'm a little bit of a homebody, but at least I am going to be busy with fun things: a work event with a motivational speaker and free lunch, visiting my favorite uncle, and seeing an old friend and meeting her new daughter.

GTKY: Have you thought of nursery themes? What is it?
Ugggghhhhhh this question is the bane of my existence because all the women in my life are asking and I cannot, for the life of me, choose. I am pretty definite on a color palette of all very light, pale colors including aqua, mint, peach, and pink. Then for a theme itself, it may be travel/adventure themed, or it might be woodland creatures. Or if I can't choose, it might be both. 😉

How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms): So I was free from nausea for about 2 weeks and felt great, until the heartburn and indigestion came. It's kicking my butt and giving me a totally different type of nausea (more full to the brim or ate something bad as opposed to motion sickness). Tired and headachey, BUT overall feeling a lot better than I did in first tri.

Rants/Raves: So in the last week we just spent almost a grand on 2 of our 3 pets. One has been mysteriously sick and needed x-rays. The other had a couple vaccinations to catch up on, plus all his meds for the summer. Thank goodness we just got tax returns.

Questions: None right now.

GTKY: Have you thought of nursery themes? What is it? Since the kids will be sharing the nursery for the first few years we aren't going to change it much. It is painted a light blue but otherwise I think the woodland theme we used for DS will still work for the little lady.

@kats0727 we didn’t do a stroller system. Just bought the stroller we wanted (a BOB) and got an adapter to click in our infant carrier when he was too tiny to sit in the seat. There is a product spotlight thread on strollers in here that is a good resource.

@meagan-t sorry for all the extra unplanned maintenance on your house. We are not DIY-ers so I completely understand the annoyances there.

@galentine I vote for travel/adventure theme nursery, but I am biased because we did a travel theme for DS. Love your color scheme!

How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms): I'm actually feeling pretty good right now! Today is probably the first day I've felt like maybe I've finally reached that second trimester sweet spot. Hopefully it continues!

Rants/Raves: Rave: T-minus 6 days until our vacation! I'm getting very excited!! Rant: Had kind of an "off" meeting at work today where I felt a bit disrespected. I might have misread things and maybe I have just a shorter fuse these days, but I'll definitely be talking with my boss about it.

Questions: This question is kind of off-topic, but does anyone happen to have a good strawberry-banana smoothie recipe that would still be good with fresh greens added? I had one at a juice shop that I really liked, but it was like $6 and I'd really like to make my own so I don't start an expensive new smoothie habit.

GTKY: Have you thought of nursery themes? What is it? DS's nursery is travel themed and I love it so much I don't think I'll change it until he voices an opinion about it.

The new baby will room in with us until he is night weaned and sleeping through the night. Then he will share a room with DS. I think I may do some decorating in our bedroom for when he is rooming with us, but nothing major, since it will be temporary.

Rants/Raves: Rant: MIL gave us a week's notice to get all of SO's crap out of his bedroom because she wants to move house. Note that neither she nor SIL have gotten anything out of the house yet, but SO needs to leave his room twinkly clean like four weeks before they move. I'm looking at it as a sort of win-win, SO can consolidate his crap into our house and MIL has one less thing to nag him about. He booked a moving helper (no way am I helping him pack and carry stuff) for next Sunday and will spend all of tomorrow (holiday because of Labor Day in the EU) pre-packing the more valuable things. Rave: DD1 is in love with the prospect of getting another sibling. It's adorable. She's told everyone at DC and every morning she tells me to have a good day at work with baby brother, and every night after I brush her teeth she give my belly a kiss. Heart melted.

@mrsinterweb My base smoothie recipe is a banana, frozen fruit (you could use strawberries to get a strawberry banana smoothie), and enough milk or juice to get the right thicknesses. Sometimes I add plain yogurt too. I don’t measure anything, I just dump everything in a blender until it looks about right, blend it, and then add more liquid or frozen fruit until it looks right. I bet adding some spinach leaves wouldn’t change the flavor too much.

Do you guys ever get bad/scary thoughts while sleeping and it wakes you up? I occasionally think about the birth and what could go wrong. I had a minor hemorrhage when I had my daughter and I'm worried it could happen again and be worse. I know I know I shouldn't dwell on it and I'll most likely be fine but...I'm also a huge worry wort.....the thoughts woke me up this morning and I couldn't go back to sleep.

How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms): New craving: cucumbers, and also Trader Joe's Everything Bagel seasoning sprinkled on ...well, everything.

Rants/Raves: RAVE: Got a promotion today! Going on a work trip tomorrow! DH taking the train up to meet me for my work trip on Friday! MIL watching kids overnight! ...Considering how sad I was a few weeks ago, this week is making me pretty happy.

GTKY: Have you thought of nursery themes? What is it? We did a nautical theme for DS1 (and stuck with that when DS2 came along to share his room). For this baby, I think the nursery will have a baby animal theme.

Upcoming Appointments: Thursday 14 week appt (I got off track due to an appt with my MFM)

How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms): thought I was getting past the nausea but then it hit me hard again this weekend. I keep adding random things to the shopping list like ruffles with French onion dip but I always feel over-full so I never eat it.

Rants/Raves: Rave- Finished our foster classes! 27 hours of training after work over the past 9 Mondays has me exhausted. Final home study on Saturday.

Rant- one of our best babysitters just told us she is taking the year off during her first year of college. So we are on the hunt again.

Questions: Is it likely to get a better deal on a travel system than the car seat trade in event at Target?

GTKY: Have you thought of nursery themes? What is it? If it’s a girl, likely a peach/gray/cream color scheme. If it’s a boy, they will likely take over one of the older boys’ room and that will be either Avengers or Star Wars themed.

@quidditchcapn1120 Thanks! It's kinda ironic cause I HATE pink.....I didn't want an overly girly room, so those two seemed fitting and I have a purple/grey color scheme, which I think will be perfect if we do have a boy.

Thank you all for the kind words and support. I’m happy to report that my appointment this morning went great. The doctor found the heartbeat right away and we even heard a kick! The next appointment will be the anatomy scan in 4 weeks. I can’t believe we’ve made it this far already!

@emily1052 DS room is currently dinosaur. It’s a great theme because you can find so many things to decorate.

Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: 4 more weeks

Upcoming Appointments: MFM w U/S today. Morphology scan May 29

How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms): Pretty good. Lots of headaches, intermittent dizziness.

Rants/Raves: U/S today gave me mixed feelings. Baby looked good but is measuring small. I’ve been running 4-6 days behind but today it was 10. DS was an IUGR baby and MFM doc says we may very well be heading there again. It’s a road that frightens me a lot. It’s also frustrating because there is literally nothing I can do but pray and wait.

Questions: nope

GTKY: Have you thought of nursery themes? What is it? I’ve been bouncing The places you’ll go/Dr. Seuss around in my head. If we have a girl though I may change to a palette of plum/silver or a light pink/silver and go from there.

Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Finding out. The results are in an envelope and we have our anatomy scan coming up in 3 weeks.

Upcoming Appointments: seeing my therapist on Monday and currently being monitored for prenatal depression/anxiety, anatomy scan and check up in 3ish weeks.

How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms): I feel awful. The nausea has subsided but now I’m dealing with headaches. I can’t seem to stay hydrated regardless of what I do.

Rants/Raves: I really want to be more active in this group but me feeling shitty has been making it really hard. I want to be more active and offer my support here but.. life.

Questions:

GTKY: Have you thought of nursery themes? What is it? We’re in the middle of moving and baby will be sharing a room with big brother so who knows.

Same. Most days I feel like I’m doing okay but I’m getting Braxton Hicks already and they’ll start up and I have to try to force myself to drink more

@rachelgreene-2 I also have trouble staying properly hydrated, but I try to fix it with popsicles and flavored water. Not the best choices, but much better than other things like soda (I've been craving Pepsi, but I've done really well avoiding it most of the time). 🤷

Awww thank you very much! One of the cats is still going through diagnostics trying to find what's wrong with him. We've done x-rays and bloods testing so he's getting an ultrasound today. The others ate all good tho.
