Game of Thrones Thread

Re: Game of Thrones Thread

  • Just noticed the clip where Arya is running scared (in the latest trailer), she has blood on her face. Hmm...
  • Loading the player...
  • Here we go! Premiere in 15 minutes!! Hope everyone’s got their fave snacks and non-alcoholic beverage in hand! Enjoy!
  • Well, I wasn't expecting the Jon Snow revelation to come in the premiere, but Bran (?) was right in saying that there's no time to wait at this point. Last night's episode was a great setup--the next five are gonna be awesome!
Side note, I gotta give HBO credit for how zero spoilers leaked before the premiere. They've clearly got some top-notch security now.
  • @hestia14 I think they filmed multiple versions of the season so that it couldn't get leaked because if it was accessed, people wouldn't know what is what. Is it weird that even though Jon is Dany's nephew, I still love them together! haha
  • It was a good setup episode, but with only 5 more left to end the season they have a lot of ground to cover LOL!! Will be interesting to watch what happens..

@Bear14+ I still like them together haha!

  • @jennm0724 DH said the same thing last night! He’s like, you guys need to hurry up and start getting to the conclusions of things! There’s not a lot of time left!
  • @jenniferjoy37 seriously! Lots of stories to tie up in such little time. I hope I'm not disappointed on how it ends.

  • I'm going to be VERY disappointed if they end it with the death of the White King and then no look into the future of things at all.  I told my husband that would be the worst possible ending for all of this...White Walkers obliterated...The End.  I'll be so upset.  There's too much that needs to be known.
  • I have a feeling that Jon is going to have to sacrifice himself and become the Night King and retreat to the North to save humanity.
  • I think White Walkers will be gone very soon and then we will watch the Seven Kingdoms fight it out for the remaining 4 episodes. At least all the reunions and information sharing is now done.
  • Some scattered thoughts on last night's episode:

*Of course Podrick has a beautiful singing voice :D
*Tormund...ew. At least now we know why he likes tall women?
*I don't think I've ever seen a GoT character smile the way Brienne did after she was knighted. Her expression was so fitting but so out of place in the best way possible :)
*DH wondered if Bran might warg into Jaime's body and kill Cersei. Double valonquar?
*I really like how the Arya/Gendry scene was shot. Arya is probably the only female character who hasn't been sexualized at all up until this point, and the scene was just enough to assert her sexuality, not exploit it.
*I'm not surprised that Daenerys' reaction to Jon's revelation was not about the fact that they were related--she probably grew up thinking she would marry her brother like so many of her ancestors did. She said "You have *a* claim to the Iron Throne," not *the* claim. I wonder how long it will take her to realize that he has the better claim no matter how you slice it--Jon is male, yes, but he's the first child of the oldest descendant of the former king. Somebody speculated that Daenerys will kill Jon because she won't be able to tolerate the truth :(
*Next week is going to be craaaazy :flushed:
  • I had told my husband when the episode started if there was more time I thought Arya and Gendry would hook up.. well that escalted quickly LOL!

Tomund makes me laugh so hard, the love triangle between him, Brienne and Jaime makes me laugh.

So Ghost just shows up and no one makes a big deal about it? Where has Ghost been!??

Will be interesting to see how it plays out between Jon and Daenerys.. she wants the throne, I don't think Jon does..
  • We have to watch the episodes on Mondays because I'm too tired to watch them at 9 on Sundays haha. But then that means staying off social media all day because there are all sorts of spoilers.
I could not stop laughing during that Tormund/Giantsbane scene OMG :D
@jennm0724 I was reading a CNN recap this morning and they mentioned Ghost and said something like "Is he going to do anything soon, or just waste the CGI budget?" I bet he plays a big role in the next episode with the battle.
@hestia14 I really liked the Arya/Gendry scene too! So well done. I didn't think about Bran warging, I keep wondering if Jaime dies then Arya steals his face to kill Cersei?
  • I realized on Sunday night that I DO have access to HBO. I got my dad's DirecTV password back in the fall when I was at their house setting up his FireTV onto HBO because I wanted to watch Christmas movies. Hahaha.
Then I just remembered that I had saved the password to my iPad.
    Thanks, dad!  ;)
So, we watched Ep1 last night. We'll watch the second one some other day this week.
  • @samanthak46 bahaha I totally watch on Mondays too.

I liked the Arya/Gendry scene as well. These first two episodes have felt so slow action-wise, I'm afraid of what is coming next week :#
  • I’m not ready for tonight carnage!!!! 😭😭 And I cant even drink away my sadness!
  • We’re on our babymoon this weekend and we brought our laptop to watch it on because my husband refuses to watch on a Monday 🤣
  • @jenniferjoy37 I have some GOT Oreos and my "I drink and I know things" coffee/hot milk mug. I'm ready to eat my feelings after this episode! (Provided the sweetness doesn't kill my teeth...)
  • acgxacgx member
I don't think I'm adequately mentally prepared for tonight...
  • I just hope I can get DD to sleep before the episode starts! @hestia14 I’m so jealous of the Oreos!!!!
  • @jenniferjoy37 They should sell them at your local grocery store--the ones near me all had them!
  • @hestia14 I’ve looked at our Kroger and Target and Walmart. Nadda. Apparently Colorado is full of GoT fans.
  • That was FAR, FAR too anxiety inducing for a pregnant lady. I feel guilty for watching that because it really stressed me out.
How am I supposed to sleep tonight? WTH.
  • I almost felt a bit bored with the episode. We knew people would die, just too long of a fight scene to really hold my interest. Also maybe because we watched from our laptop in the hotel bed lol.

My brother and I have a kill spreadsheet going of who would die and what episode. I did pretty good with my predictions. And also who would be the one to take out the night king.
  • I'm on the fence about the episode too. It had some really great moments of despair like the Dothrakis getting wiped out and the Night King raising all the corpses, but I'm a little disappointed that more main characters didn't die. Not that I wanted it to happen, but I expected it to happen. GoT has been built on the notion of no one being safe, and in the face of the most horrible, apocalyptic threat the show has had, all of the big heroes survived. I was expecting most of them to have a gut-wrenching final moment like Lyanna. (I can't decide what was sadder--her tragic but totally fitting death or Drogon giving Daenerys and Jorah a big dragon hug.)
Very interested to see how the last three episodes will play out since the big bad conflict is gone (or so we think...)
  • Me three. I mean the shots were cool, like when the Red Woman lit up the Dothraki swords, but IDK it just wasn't the pace I expected, maybe? Also, I wish Bran would start talking instead of warging into ravens, that'd be cool. Also was everything super dark for anyone else, DH and I felt like this watching it and we had the lights turned off and everything
  • Well, now it is all down to the battle for the Iron Throne. And how will that play out between Danny and John? And how crazy is Cersei going to really become?

I think the best part of last night's show was the score. It was really, really good. And emotion evoking.

It was dark, but I thought it was good. And done purposefully. They couldn't see either, so why should we get to see? My favorite movie is Memento and it's done backward on purpose so you can feel like the main character who has no memories. I think that is what they were trying to do with the darkness.
  • @hakele I told my husband the same thing about the score, I loved all of it!
  • @hakele I definitely noticed the music chance at certain points... it was fitting...

@samanthak46  yes, SOOOO dark! I asked DH if he could turn up the brightness on the TV, but he didn’t want to pause it. Haha.

@hestia14 I was expecting more main characters to die too. It seems like so many close calls with all of them... I’m really surprised that most of our favs are still alive.

  • Agree with all of the above. Battle scenes can get kinda boring to me anyway, but I couldn't even see what was going on with the darkness and storm and smoke and fire! Just kinda glad the episode is over so we can all move on 😂
  • Anyone else find themselves counting the days to the next episode?  I'm pretty excited to see what's next....
  • @JLHeisler Tmrw is my day off work, so I’m going to re-watch it to see if there was anything I missed... but yes, we absolutely count down the days until Sunday!!
  • Guys! If you rewatch through the streaming, you can see things! It’s sooooo much better.

@happyin14 Maybe that is why I didn't get it. We watched it straight from HBO Go the first time. (Because I use my parent's account.... hahaha.)
  • I'm not sure what was going on with out HBOnow but it kept buffering! We ended having to watch on the laptop again through the web browser. Super annoying.

With only 2 episodes left shits gonna get real, but me being the dog loving person I am was so mad Jon didn't say bye to Ghost the way I wanted him to LOL! I knew as soon as Gendry asked Arya she'd turn him down, she has always said she isn't a lady. Also, who else thinks Jaime took off to go kill Cersei?? Poor Brienne is heartbroken.

And I didn't even notice in the episode the coffee cup, until the internet pointed it out to me this morning!
  • acgxacgx member
@jennm0724 I cried when Ghost whined and Jon just basically ignored him. I mean, would it have hurt him to go pet him??

I also think Jaime is going to kill Cersei in the end, but I don't think he knows he's going to yet. Cersei is the worst.

  • @jennm0724 I was sad too when Jon didn’t say goodbye to his wolf! You don’t just do that. He hugged Tormund when he said goodbye, why couldn’t he do that for his wolf too?!

I didn't notice the starbucks cup either. Thanks internet!

@acgx I’m mad at Jamie for being a dick to Brienne. Don’t just use her, she trusted him. He may have a plan to come back, but who knows?

  • I was upset with the lack of interaction with Ghost too. And seeing Brienne so upset got me upset as well.

I know it's the final season and anything goes, but I was not expecting Dany's other dragon to go down so quickly. Both DH and I were like what the heck, they're just dragon sharpshooters now?

I really want to get to the bottom of Cersei's potential pregnancy too, is she pregnant? Is she lying? What's going on? Give us some info Qyburn

Aww. Dany is going to be a G-ma! I like this theory. Makes total sense!
