Why My Pregnant Self is Crying

Re: Why My Pregnant Self is Crying

  • Yesterday I cried on the way to my friends house to pick up my kids. They were only gone for 2 hours but I really missed them and it got me extremely emotional. 🙈

  • The other day I cried because an old lady wanted to chat in the check out line at the grocery store. I cried for 15 minutes because she was so sweet and kind. I think we talked about the cereal selection. 😂
  • I briefly cried yesterday when a meeting that was moved twice last week to various times this week was moved again, from yesterday to today, and today is less convenient for me. Make up your mind and stick to a time people!!!!
  • I cried watching Tarzan with my 2yo last night. Like holy shit, a dark kids movie! In the first 5 minutes gorilla parents watch their baby get torn apart by a jaguar, and then a human baby’s parents get eaten (with bloody paw prints all around the cradle 😳).

  • I had to stay in my car composing myself this morning because that Kid Rock/Sheryl Crow song, “Picture” really made me emotional. No idea why. 😂🙄
  • So many things, but most recently...
My best friend had a baby boy this weekend and when we went to visit I calculated my son’s and her son’s high school graduation years...don’t do it 😭😭😭
  • Whenever I am pregnant, I don’t cry over random things really but when I laugh so hard I start to cry, I go into a crying fit that I cannot stop. It stops being funny and I just cry for no reason 😂
  • I think the best one so far was right after I found out I was pregnant, I was extra snappy with my manager one day. He asked "what was your problem yesterday, you weren't your normal self", and I ended up in his office bawling for the next 30 minutes.

Hes super chill and we get along really well, so it was actually really good talking to him and getting some advice. But definitely not how I planned to spend 30 minutes of my day. Plus he turned like 3 people away from the office while everyone could see me in there crying, so I'm sure that raised some questions (I work swing shift with a very small crew in a manufacturing plant and theres a lot of drama when someone spends more than 30 seconds in the office).
  • I cried after dropping my son off at preschool, because I suddenly missed him 🤦‍♀️ I've done that a few times lately.

  • I have been watching Call the Midwife and I cry every single time a baby is born.
  • @emeraldcity1214 I discovered Call the Midwife my first pregnancy. So so good but lots of ugly crying.
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • My cocoa wheats boiled over in the microwave. I called my husband crying over spilled cereal. It’s a good thing he finds my unpredictable emotions entertaining and cute. 😐
  • @kurtni hospital births back them were scary. Those women were treated so harshly. The way they treated any baby/child that wasn't perfect in appearance is horrifying to me. I think I ugly cried a few times during one of the episode where a baby was born with problems associated to the anti-nausea medication they used to give back then.
  • Why do I keep watching shows with all these babies?! I need to start watching Stranger Things so I can get caught up and watch the new season with DH.
  • Because Rachel got off the plane...

I normally tear up because friends is my all time favorite show and I own the entire series on DVD, but this time I was bawling.
  • @emeraldcity1214 Yes, watch Stranger Things! I recently re-watched all of Sex and the City and I cried when Miranda had Brady. (Side note, I have a totally different view of SATC as a 37 y/o...I'm obsessed with Miranda.) I also recently read Becoming and cried reading about Michelle Obama's fertility challenges.
  • I just got a baby shower invite for a friend. Stupid, right? Because I'm finally having a baby of my own, this stuff shouldn't upset me anymore. This couple is on their second child (their first isn't even 3 yet) and they're having another shower after having 3 (yes 3 showers) for their first baby. I am relatively calm now, so I think I figured out I was crying because we spent a ton on them back with their first child and now we have a child of our own to plan for and they already have everything - and they make way more money than we do...and now we are supposed to give them more? What more could there possibly be that they need? I know. Irrational and bitchy...
  • @alwayseloquent I dont think that's irrational and bitchy. I thought baby showers were typically reserved for first babies only, unless theres a significant age gap between the two? Idk, 3 showers for one baby and then a shower for the new baby less than 3 years later seems excessive to me. But maybe I'm the irrational bitchy one (would not be the first time I've been called either of those things lol).
  • Second showers for a second baby are not done where I am from. I have gone to very, very tiny sprinkles before for a second child but it was just the mom-to-be's friends/sisters and the gifts were just diapers and a few outfits, stuff like that. I would not attend @alwayseloquent, and I really don't think you need to send a gift. If you want to send something when the baby arrives you could send diapers or a onesie, otherwise don't even worry about it.
  • I've also never been to a second baby shower. I know people do sprinkles around here, which is basically a diaper party, or if they know the sex is different maybe a few outfits. I would decline and maybe just send a card or as @creamcheeseplease suggested a small pack of diapers.

  • @alwayseloquent That is so tacky. They should be embarrassed. I'm not even one to flinch at a second shower because they are common where I'm from. Three showers with their first and now another is way too excessive. If they had 3 showers they shouldn't have invited the same people to each one. That screams gift grabby. Yuck! Take a stand and say NO!
  • Its nap time and I'm watching Call the Midwife again. 😭 All these babies! Tears are just streaming down my face. Why do I keep watching these shows?!
  • Not sure I could handle call the midwife now!! Haha. I’m watching How to Get Away with Murder which is great and so far not making me cry, haha.
  • My husband picked up a mug in Target today that said 'best dad ever'. He looked at me and said "I hope I'll get a lot of these." I gave him a hug and cried a bit in the isle. I can't wait to see him be a dad.
  • I woke myself up from a dream bc I was sobbing so hard. Couldn’t even remember what the dream was, but I cried for a good 30 minutes more after waking up.
  • Avengers End Game...

Thank you @angieeeeee @creamcheeseplease @millpe @emeraldcity1214 for making me not feel crazy! I've heard of sprinkles and probably wouldn't have thought too much of one but this is a full blown shower. The Amazon registry is MASSIVE. Luckily another friend in the group came to me to complain about the invite and made me not feel so crazy. She has a 1-year-old daughter and was really off put by the shower too. We are going to go together and just do diapers or something like that. It is just ridiculous. Thanks ladies!!!
  • @alwayseloquent buy them some pacis and some toss and go cups from Walmart. 😂 That may get the message across.

I cried when I finished my half marathon yesterday. So glad I was wearing sunglasses.

  • @gumby22c You must be a superwoman! Congrats on the marathon!
  • @gumby22c Yay how was it? It was a beautiful day here yesterday!
  • Thank you @emeraldcity1214! To be fair I walked most of it, but I definitely was proud of myself for sticking with my training through first tri crappiness and for finishing yesterday!

@runningfortwo81 it was a gorgeous day! I was pleased with my time and finished about 20 minutes faster than I thought I might, so that was a happy surprise! It was such a hilly course though, I'm sore in weird places today 🤣

  • Grey’s Anatomy (the first handful of seasons, I haven’t seen anything current) are really tear-jerking, too.
  • The multiple showers thing isn’t super off-putting to me if it’s not done at the request/behest of the mom or the parents to be. (To be clear, I only had one lol) But, my SIL had 3 showers. It didn’t really bother me because they were thrown by 2 distinct relatives and a friend that aren’t close and I wouldn’t expect to necessary want to coordinate with each other. I was invited to all 3. I think sometimes family dynamic comes into play with this sort of thing. To the extent it’s possible, you’d think everyone would come together and coordinate, but I just don’t think that’s always the case and sometimes people want it to be their event 🙄 It’s tacky as all get out if even *one* shower is requested by the mom-to-be, but I can see situations where there might be multiple and it’s really no “fault” of the parents to be. Sounds completely weird to have a huge registry for a second baby, though. I think if someone were adamant they wanted to throw me a second shower, I would purposefully *not* make a registry. Hopefully it’s at least a nice event and @alwayseloquent and I agree that I’d do something simple and practical like some diapers as a gift.
  • @gumby22c huge congrats on your half marathon!! So amazing!
  • I got a bloody nose on the way to work and couldn't stop crying!
  • I had a shower for my first, second, and fourth baby. My first 2 kids were 12 years apart and I had a sprinkle for my 4th baby. So I'm not opposed to multiple showers. It's the obvious gift grabbiness that is awful.
  • Recently ... just a couple: when my husband kissed my belly and said "a kiss from Daddy" and when we went to Disneyland together and it hit me that we really, truly might be able to bring our own child there soon
  • I watched a short video about a house in Missouri that was opened by 150 volunteers where old, abandoned dogs go to retire in comfort and know love and friendship and companionship...
