Rants/Raves:ย Rant (sorry itโs lengthy). DD was sick all weekend, so that
kinda put a damper on the weekend. She did start feeling better on Sunday,
fever broke. Yesterday though the tantrums omg, 2 hours it took for us to do bed

them, plus flowers donโt smell pretty to meโฆI know Iโm weirdโฆ.
@Cass005 Iโm so sorry about the rough weekend and then the rough/cranky day on top of it!! Iโve had plenty of those mornings latelyโ it takes so much out of you. Hopefully you can get a tiny bit of downtime at work to relax for a few!ย
@melanier26 Add me to the list of people who go to bed early. A few weeks ago I was lucky if I made it to 8:30 but I have been managing to stretch to 9:30 - 10 PM is lately. I love my sleep!!

How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms): Tired but not too quesy anymore! I know some people have been discussing sleep. Iโm usually in be at 830 and up at 515. I was up until 9 last night on the phone with the internet and my poor husband was getting all the sas.
Rants/Raves: I bet my friend is right and itโs so hard to not go buy things! I had my heart set on a matching robe/swaddle set for the hospital (super girly), but I think Iโm just going to get the one I wanted for me and buy a matching light blue one for babe. I just want to buy it already!
Questions:
GTKY: What is your favorite type of flower or plant? I like hydrangeas! I think only 2 of our 3 are coming back this year!
I think this is the thread someone was talking about naming. (I read often, but donโt always get around to posting right away) I think we will probably go in with a few names then finalize it at the hospital. Weโve started talking about it here and there, but nothing super serious. We downloaded the app thatโs like tinder for baby names. That was fun for an afternoon, but I donโt think my husband has looked at it since!
I think we will probably go in with a few names then finalize it at the hospital.
With DS we had it narrowed down to 2 names when we went into the hospital, Ethan and Elijah. I preferred Ethan and was pretty sure weโd go with that, but then when he was born he looked like an Elijah to us.ย
We have a girlโs name weโve loved for years but even if babe is a girl Iโd like to have another one picked out because of that reason. Thatโs just us though ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธย
@melanier26@sammygirl18 we've had a girl name and boy name picked out forever (we are team green) but my fear is at the hospital when we actually have the kid the names will look all wrong! I am all for backup names but DH seems set on the names we like.

Upcoming Appointments: Just had one yesterday - NT scan/ first anatomy scan at my MFM. All is well. I had been so nervous and convinced that everything was going to go wrong I've been lurking and not posting - pgal brain at its finest. Have a regular check up with OB next week and then no appointments until June! How will I survive?!
How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms):ย Little better. I am still taking Diglecis/Bonjesta every day but it feels like it's actually working. Still throwing up every couple days but nothing like before. I see a light at the end of the tunnel I think! Now I just want to get hungry!!
Rants/Raves: Just waiting for that magical 2nd tri honeymoon period of eating everything in sight and not feeling sick.
Questions: When do I actually need to start a nursery/ a registry/ plan for baby? I'm anxious with PGAL but I'm also a planner. I feel like starting too soon is tempting fate. When can I reasonably put it off until?ย
GTKY: What is your favorite type of flower or plant? ย I grow herbs and I'm really loving the smell of honeysuckle everywhere this spring.ย
Upcoming Appointments: today, general checkup. Excited to hear the little guyโs heartbeat.ย
How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms): I feel fine as long as I donโt stay up too late and I keep myself fed.ย
Rants/Raves: Iโm feeling really grateful that this baby is healthy. ย Now that I am sure this is our last baby, I feel a shift in my attitude toward this pregnancy. Iโm trying to stay focused on gratitude that I am able to get/stay pregnant instead of all the not so nice pregnancy things. Rant: figuring out kindergarten aftercare is an effing nightmare. We have the biggest kindergarten class they have ever had, we still only have half day kindergarten ๐, everywhere is waitlisted except for the one place I would never send my kid. Iโm so stressed about it!

re: names - weโll likely take a few to the hospital. We started a list last night and we always have a hard time agreeing ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ
@obsessedwithoranges I would say registry should be done a few weeks before your shower, so people can see it in time to get you something instead of just guessing (if you are going that route). Nursery technically not until you plan to transition the baby to their own room! I would say, though, set up whatever sleeping arrangement you want to use no later than about 36 weeks so that you make sure that everything is put together properly and you don't need to make any adjustments. That way, you aren't scrambling if the baby shows up a bit early. A "formal" birth plan can wait until basically the day before, since you won't be able to talk to the nurses about it until then anyway, but it isn't too early to start thinking about what kinds of medical interventions you want or don't want, honestly. I will say, I had a plan all written out ahead of time, but in the end it didn't really matter. I told my nurse basically what I wanted, but they still have to check with you every time they go to do something, so you can always change your mind! Est Due Date / Weeks + Days:ย ย Oct 29th 13+1

Upcoming Appointments:ย ย May 9th (that feels so far!)
How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms):ย ย ย Physically good, although I'm waiting to not be tired all the time. Mentally fine from an emotional standpoint, but I am getting so burnt out at work (probably from being tired all the timeย ๐) so that's a bit grating. Also, my temper seems super short lately, which has led to me shooting off my mouth to students more than I should. Not bad things, really, but just getting more sarcastic and snippy than is really totally professional. I need to rein that in, for sure.
Rants/Raves:ย ย Not really baby-related, but we are having these really long extended blocks for testing this week and next, and it should be great because that gives me a huge amount of time to get things done or work on projects with the students, but honestly I just don't have it in me to be productive alone or with the same class for 3-4 hours. It just feels like a waste of time.
On the other hand, my toddler has been super sweet and affectionate, and he actually seems to get that there is a baby in my tummy, although I know he has no idea what that means for how his life will change this fall.
GTKY: What is your favorite type of flower or plant?ย ย I know they are the dumb, cheap flowers at the grocery store, but I think alstroemerias are gorgeous. I like lilies and irises a lot, and anything fluffy like a hydrangea or a peony. I am terrible at keeping plants alive, though, so mostly I just like them from afar. I am also a huge fan of blue spruce, and I wish I could have a great big one in my yard now, but Southeast US is not the right climate for them.
@obsessedwithoranges whenever you feel like it. I personally like to have the nursery set up by the time I hit 35w, but I also donโt keep them in our room for more than a couple weeks (and our bedtime routine starts right away and is done in their room to get them used to the space).
and agreed, I donโt think itโs too early toย start thinking about birth plans. I will warn against any dedicated or formal plans, mainly because it so rarely goes exactly as planned, and I know so many women that struggled to accept the way the births went because they were adamant about sticking to the plan.ย
@obsessedwithoranges I didnโt start my registry until after the anatomy scan and the nursery was finished the weekend before I went into labor (which was a week early). Be warned - sometimes a crib/nursery furniture can take weeks to ship and deliver so donโt wait too long to pick something out. We got ours at buy buy baby, they had to order it, and it took something like 6-8 weeks.ย
I did a birth plan (or as I prefer to call it, birth preferences, since you canโt really plan on anything) after I took a birth class at the hospital (3rd trimester). The class gave me a lot of things to think through that I wouldnโt have considered on my own.ย
I agree with @cmbt2. My advice would be to learn about all options so you are educated about whatโs happening if the labor/birth doesnโt go as planned. Thereโs nothing wrong with having a plan or preferences, but be open minded because you never know what may happen. And no birth is a โfailureโ!ย
How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms): I had a lot of scary bleeding yesterday. Sigh. But it was only one episode when I went to the bathroom and wasn't accompanied by cramps, and wasn't more than once. My doctor thinks it's just a sensitive cervix + increased blood flow, etc etc. So I won't go in to see her unless it happens again. But man, it's so unsettling. It was so much. Other than that, I am feeling pretty fine these days.
Rants/Raves: I had such a wonderful day off on Monday with my kiddos. We got tickets to the White House Easter Egg Roll at the last minute, so I took them out of school and we just spent a day in the city. It was sooooo fun and nice to do something different.
GTKY: What is your favorite type of flower or plant? I had rinunculas in my wedding bouquet since I couldn't have peonies (I was married in winter). So I have loved them ever since. For an every-day bouquet in my house I like white tulips. But I do not have a green thumb, so I also have a lot of faux plants in my house.
@junebabyh so scary! hopefully it was just a weird one time thing! another thought - do you have a low lying placenta? I currently do and apparently that can cause bleeding in the second trimester. Most placentas do move up as the pregnancy progresses, so not necessarily anything to be concerned about.ย
@obsessedwithoranges, I'm so glad you are feeling more confident now and going to be joining in more! โค I understand the PGAL hesitation to do things like plan a nursery, but keep in mind that hope and planning do not tempt fate. I'd say you can hold off as on everything as long as you are comfortable. But if you are having a baby shower, I'd recommend having your registry completed before the invites go outย I know people who buy a gift immediately when they receive a shower invitation!
@junebabyh, I'm so sorry for the bleeding scare! I hope you are able to take it easy the next few days โค

How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms): nipples very sensitive, but no symptoms otherwise.
Rants/Raves: I mentioned it in randoms, but SO and I took this week off to finally get our house looking a little more like a house. Only managed about 50% of what I'd planned and trying not to feel too grumpy about it. Plan was to treat ourselves to the Stuttgart version of Oktoberfest this weekend after everything was done, but now I'm kind of resentful we're taking the trip and not working more on the house. But we're meeting a very good friend of mine there and the housework will still be waiting for us when we get home, so there's that.
Questions:
GTKY: What is your favorite type of flower or plant? I love all plants that you can eat and/or smell amazing. Our landlord paid โฌ40000 for garden work in the house we live in right now (admittedly most of it went into a raised terrace but still) and it's so....boring. So I went out and got plants of raspberries, blueberries, boysenberries, wild garlic, tomatoes, cilantro, chives, mustard, and strawberry. Now the terrace has the structured, professionally set up area, and squeezed into the space in front of it in, wild chaotic plant pot arrangements, the plants I got. I love going out and picking wild garlic and cilantro for mealtimes. No sandwich is complete without chives. And then I sit under the lilac bush and smell the flowers. My nemesis? Weeds. We have a particularly mean thistle-type thing I would happily banish off of the face of the earth, or at least to the other side of the fence. After over an hour of industrious use of the weed puller (worth its
weight in gold IMHO) I have the sneaking suspicion that the weeds are
engaging in a very plant-uncharacteristic game of whack a mole. It seems
highly unlikely that I could miss a dinner plate sized weed on the
third pass through the garden, but miss it I did.
As for names, with DD1 SO and I went to the hospital with a list but not a favorite. And once she was born it took us two days to decide. With DD2 we had a favorite all set pretty much by month 8.
Revising my questions: What do you do about the seat belt if anything? I didn't drive during my first pregnancy but I'm curious how it will affect my belly.
@Cass005 Nothing. The waistband sits below the belly for the most part, so not really anything to change. The shoulder strap does get a little pushed up around the top of he belly in late pregnancy, but not enough to alter where it passes over your chest. Depending on how you like to sit in your car, though, you might need to adjust your seat position or push your steering column up or back!

This. You place the lower strap below your belly when applicable (depends on how you carry and how you sit in the car)
@junebabyh yes, they check at your ultrasound. I'm high risk so have more frequent u/s with my MFM - so he could see it at 13.5 weeks. but he was not concerned as most do move.
@galentine thank you! DH also reminds me that hoping and wanting this so much isn't going to a cause a m/c, but I think until I pass my loss milestone I'll just be on the edge. 2 more weeks!ย

How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms): The nausea is almost gone, hallelujah! Every few days I have a really crummy day of feeling like poo, but for the most part it's just sinus headaches, congestion, standard allergy stuff. I hate headaches, but I'll always take those over stomachaches.
Rants/Raves: DH and I moved on February 14th, and since he's on mandatory overtime right now (so 5 10s instead of 4 10s, basically) and I've been feeling so sick, I/we haven't been able to get us fully moved out of the old house, which is preventing us from selling it just yet. Combined with the fact that I "retired" on March 8th, our budget has been pretty tight. I feel like I'm being swallowed alive by the clutter that is piling up here and the clutter from the old house that still needs to come over. Sigh. I'm trying to focus on the positive and conquer the beast, but it's been tough.
Questions: Not right now
GTKY: What is your favorite type of flower or plant? I absolutely adore daffodils with tulips coming in at a close second. I am great at gardening outside, but I don't care for houseplants. They're a lot more work and I feel sad that they don't live outside (because I often kill them).
