I want to buy workout clothes for my new classes, but there is NOTHING local that will fit me, Fabletics is too expensive for the limited supply in my size, and everything online seems meh. I need new workout clothes!!!!!!
@indulgentgypsy I got some decent pants from Old Navy (had to buy online) and Target (shockingly found some in stores).. I'm yet to find any tops that I really like though..
It's 2am and M threw up. He'd been complaining of stomach pain all evening but acting fine. Know we know. DH is leaving for his Africa work trip in the morning. I guess insomnia tonight is a blessing? Still.
We are watching Blaze and the Monster Machines. I'm hoping M will sleep after an episode or two. If not... Well... Damn.
I have officially put on 40lbs now! I need to switch to keto diet sooner rather than later so I can slow down this nonsense. I just can't emotionally deal with gaining 60-70 again this pregnancy.
@indulgentgypsy oh no! I was hoping the weight gain was going better this time! Any idea what the root of the weight gain is (besides baby)? I saw you mentioned food in another thread, what do you think might motivate you to eat better? I'd be happy to be a food journal buddy, if that'd help!
@cindler I honestly have no idea what would help me eat better. I have to stop indulging my sweet tooth - it exacerbates my heartburn anyway I think - and just focus on eating meat, fat, vegetables.
@indulgentgypsy indulging my sweet tooth has been the best and worst part of being pregnant! It's great to get sweets (which I normally stay away from and rarely crave), but IT'S ALL I WANT! I have become the "what's for dessert" person, which is very out of character. I am trying to satisfy my sweet tooth with fruit rather than candy/dessert. I've tried to keep a stock of dried fruit, frozen fruit, and fresh fruit available. I've even started to eat two prunes a day after dinner as "dessert" (and to keep the intestines working well). The worst thing is that we always run out of fruit before the next grocery order, so I turn to candy...
@indulgentgypsy have you tried recording your food? It has helped me slow down my weight gain. The exercise you started should help too. I’ve been exercising the whole pregnancy, but the weight gain slowed when I started tracking food 2 months ago. @cindler I’ve been destroying fruit too!
Went in for my glucose today and already got the results back! Passed with a 68. Not even sure the cut off number but I’m glad I passed.
also went to to go get some cute dresses today so I can look more pregnant instead of looking bloated in leggings and a sweatshirt. Getting my hair done on Friday. And I’m going to feel like a whole new woman 💕
Fruit bars have been a life saver for my sweet tooth, like the popsicles. They take a little bit to eat and are pretty low in calories, plus they're refreshing
@bartonolivia 68 is SUPER low. I think the cutoff is more like 180. A 68 would even be low for a fasted blood draw without glucola. Maybe this is part of the reason you are getting dizzy?
@cbeans yeah I didn’t fast and had it early this morning. I remember it being a 74 with my first. She didn’t say anything about my dizziness episodes having to do with this but I’ll ask her at my next appointment in 2 weeks!
@bartonolivia I agree that it sounds low, but you might just have a really solid insulin response too
These are the guidelines I was given for glucose monitoring: AM fasting, less than 95 1 hour after first bite of food, less than 140 2 hours after first bite of food, less than 120
@indulgentgypsy I’m with you on the needing to slow the gain ASAP.
Feels kind of hopeless right now with the crazy work/life stress that’s going on but ughhhhh.
TB is messing with me. We took a short getaway so my days are all messed up with having a schedule. Today TB says I’m 26 weeks but it’s Wednesday and my weeks turn over on Thursday!! Anyone else have this issue?
@wineandcoffee Omg momma, I'd totally be the same. I cannot imagine the first field trip, I'll just panic all day... Hugs!
@bartonolivia I think I have a lot of the same issues you are having, but my glucose test isn't til May 1. I'm trying really hard to keep a healthy diet with proteins and vitamins and upping my water in take, but not really helping. What is your diet like, I know you work out a lot?
Kiddo is back at preschool, so I am back at work. Really disappointed looking at the weather - I wanted to garden this weekend with my MIL here to help watch M, but it's supposed to thunderstorm literally Sat-Mo. Which means trying to find crap to do in the house all weekend with an active 2yo who just wants to be outside. Q_Q
@foodislove I eat smoothies, eggs, yogurt, salads, lots of fruits & veggies, chicken, salmon, cliff bars, more eggs 😂, and I have an occasional treat here and there. I drink ALOT of water. My workouts have declines a little because if I work out too hard my pubic bone is in pain for DAYS and I can’t move. Lol
@bartonolivia If it was way low there is hypoglycemia but I think being on the low end of the normal spectrum with a healthy diet is probably good and typical, esp as a young adult woman.
@bartonolivia@mamanbebe Technically 68mg/dL IS hypoglycemic, even for a fasted test. I'd talk to your dr. I'm sure you're healthy and just have a good insulin response but s/he might suggest eating more snacks and keeping an eye on it during pregnancy to prevent fainting/falling.
@cbeanz I’ll talk to her for sure. She didn’t mention anything in the notes other than that I’m slightly anemic (which is normal for me) and suggested eating more spinach but I literally eat sooo much already so I’ll need to get iron supplements. She just said “you passed your glucose test” so I’ll be sure to mention it to her in my appointment in 2 weeks
@bartonolivia my dr has their normal range for the glucose test from 65-139. I would just double check with them since it’s in the lower end, but my guess would be if they were concerned they would bring it up.
The weather has been so hit or miss this week. It’s been foggy every morning, followed by some sunshine and then afternoon storms. I was hoping we would have a couple of more months before the afternoon storms settled in. Gotta get these boys outside to burn off some energy!
@foodislove one of the volunteers texted me that she has my daughter in her group and that made me feel a lot better. They are back safe now!
Also, I’m at a training and I cannot stop farting. This is awful.
@Cbeanz my fasting number was in the low-mid 60s. I don’t know what my other two were but I passed. I know it doesn’t help, but wanted to share that I wouldn’t worry about low numbers unless your Dr is concerned
Anyone else finding themselves second-guessing damn near everything?
We bought my mom car, but didn't do a third row/7 seater. I love the car, but I can't shake the unease. We got the crib we asked for as a gift, but it's not a full convertible one. The convertible one I like is 3x the price, plus, you know, the one we asked for is set up, but I'll be damned if I'm not second-guessing anyway.
We only want 2 kids, so the third row shouldn't be a huge deal, plus we still have DH's huge SUV if we need to haul a lot of stuff and/or kids, plus the crib will be useful for a second kid and the $ we save on not getting the convertible crib will buy a very nice kid bed, but damn.
@greeneyedgirl12 if it makes you feel any better, I have never actually used the convertible crib feature. I have always just gone straight to a bed for both of my kids. And thennnn if you did decide to have a third, plenty of cars fit three across! I have a third row in my SUV and having a my third baby, but guess what... my kids throw absolute fits in the third row because it doesn't have a window that opens and they hate sitting back there. I'm forced to put three in a row because of it. (I know, I know..I'm the Mom and I should just force one of them, but it's not worth it).
Sooo basically, most things that you "plan" for won't really turn out that way. Life just happens and you go with it! I fully intended on using the convertible feature of the crib and putting one of my kids in the third row... oh well!
@Bear14+ Thank you. DH is sick of talking me off a cliff, plus he thinks the bigger car is a waste, and $800 (the difference between the crib we got and the convertible one, not to mention the fact my FIL bought this one for us) will buy a pretty nice kid bed...
I've been having trouble keeping up on here lately!!! Still reading the randoms though. My 2.5 year old had his first real dentist visit today and he did amazing! I was so proud of him! I treated all of us to ice cream afterwards (not sure if it was more of a treat for him or me )
@greeneyedgirl12 if it makes you feel better we got a convertible 3 in 1 crib for DS1 and have never converted it and probably never will. It's about to be used for a third baby and honestly isn't going to be all that nice anymore when this babe is done with it. I think what you did is a good choice!
@greeneyedgirl12 I've had some similar second-guessing/driving myself crazy about baby-related decisions big and small. I felt so anxious about the daycare choices we had to make a few weeks ago and then have spent the past couple of days driving myself nuts over decisions about baby bottles and diaper pails. I know a lot of it is silly and probably just a bad mix of hormones and obsessing over what I can control right now, but it's been helpful for me to calm myself down with the refrain that none of these decisions are permanent. Daycares, baby bottles, cars, cribs, etc. can always be changed out later if they really need to be and odds are they'll end up working out fine in the first place since I won't actually have the alternative to compare it to.
@greeneyedgirl12 You're not alone! You'll probably change your mind on most things at least once. You live and learn. Besides, in the grand scheme of raising babies, even the cost of a new car is chump change, unfortunately. When I think about things like cribs and highchairs the cost always pales in comparison to, say, one week of childcare. Don't be too hard on yourself.
So I went home for lunch real quick and my 13 yr old cat was sitting on the front step waiting to be let in - she is indoor/outdoor so no big deal. I let her in the house, and I'm trying to talk to my DH and same cat is crying to be let back out on the porch she just left with "her puppies". She spends most of her day herding the 3 pups we have. DH looked at me and said, "She's just anxious for the baby to get here". This cat has been through all my pregnancy and babies with me. When the boys were little she would sleep in or under their crib and come and get us when they woke up - no matter what time it was or where we were. And woe unto you if you did not respond fast enough to make her happy! She is an uber nanny when it comes to babies.
@greeneyedgirl12 I traded in a 2-row for a 3-row SUV with the intent of having 2 kids but only because we wanted a whole road for the DOG haha. And even yet, if by some miracle we decided to have three, we would still keep them all in the middle row and save the back seat for the dog. Moral of the story, I think a standard car setup is fine and the third row isn't really necessary. Not to mention, it's hard to use when you have car seats installed that keep you from being able to move the seats forward to access the third row.
@indulgentgypsy your cat sounds amazing! I love attentive animals. We got 2 kittens back in November and I’m so excited the kids get to grow up with them!
@mamanbebe The dogs will actually get the cargo space if I have to take them in the new one, and not having leather back there was a secondary reason to not do three rows. We’ll mostly truck the dogs around in DH’s older SUV, but it’s good to have the space if I have dogs and baby, I hate driving the older one cuz it’s on a truck base and handles like it.
Unrelated, we’re starting to get gifts cuz shower invites went out, and someone got us the travel bag for our stroller. Now we just need, well, the stroller. Have sneaking (but mostly baseless) feeling my mom is getting it for us, but just kinda funny to have the bag but nothing to put in it...
Hi there strangers. Freaking app still isn't working and the website was giving me problems too so I haven't been posting too much. Plus it's been insane here. Still no baby goats. 😭 But we officially have bees!!! 1 swarm caught and we are working on the other 2 still.
Had an appt today. Henry's heart rate was great and I'm measuring a teensy bit big but nothing concerning. Gained a bunch of weight.. Oops. Got my TDAP. Have to do another 1hr GTT tomorrow and asked her about her induction policy since I tend to dilate to 4-5 end effaced 80-90% by 38wks. Was kind of hoping she would send me to L&D if that happened again but it looks like unless I'm in obvious active labor or 39wks she won't. This kind of scares me because of my fast labors, making it to the hospital with only 20mins to spare the last time, and the new hospital (they just switched locations last month) is like 45mins away.
I trust my Dr, understand and agree why they won't induce earlier than 39wks for "nothing", and obviously will do whatever is best for the baby but thinking about it now terrifies me. Oh well.
