@Oklahomak message any time if I don't check in time, let me know here that I have a pm bc I don't get notifications in the app.
Troll tunga probably isn't open yet, im thinking. We hiked June 23 and it had just barely opened for independent hiking. Before that there's a bit of time when guided tours are run, but it's fully closed until enough snow and ice have melted. Definitely check on this year's dates. Visitnorway.Com says the hiking season for troll tunga is mid June - mid Sept. Not sure if that includes the guided tour only season or not though

@mamamias Thanks for the link! I need to get started on a registry instead of just keeping a mental list of stuff we need and stuff I like, so that was timely on your part.
@purplg8r@sourlemon What?! I'm scheduled for a cleaning next month, guess I need to give the dentist a call to see if they need anything from my OB. I've never heard of a dentist needing a note for pregnant patients, but I'm a FTM so what the heck do I know lol.
I have a friend visiting this week from out of town. She was one of my bridesmaids and I haven't seen her in a few years because she lives across the country, so I'm excited to spend some time with her and catch up, but at the same time I've been feeling so blah and unmotivated lately that I'm wondering where I'm going to find the energy to be social.
Thanks all for the heads up on the note for the dentist! I just discovered this week that I have my first ever cavities, so I need to make an appointment. I'm assuming this is the pregnancy and extended vomiting taking a toll on my teeth.
I work in a dental office, granted we’re a specialist not a general. We require notes from OB’s but we perform root canals. I’m totally puzzled by the need for a note for a regular cleaning. I had my cleaning at 15 wks. They still did xrays, your just supposed to be double shielded. Or you can opt out of course if you’d prefer 😊
@WinchesterGirl - Sorry to hear that about your teeth (and the vomiting!)
Even though I didn't have an issue in 2015/2016 with DD1, my dentist has changed their requirements, too (without telling anyone). SO thankful this was put on my radar so I could have my OB fax the list. Like there aren't already 1,000 other things I have to do/adjust because of pregnancy

I started a new job in February while I was only 11 weeks pregnant. I had let my bosses know after I received an offer in order to be transparent. While now that I'm 20 weeks, I'm pretty visibly pregnant, but it hasn't officially been announced anywhere. Well in a meeting, it just came out in THE MOST AWKWARD WAY. Someone said something about a training session that was going to be held on August 18 and I of course blurt out, "On a Sunday??" and everyone of course wondered how I calculated that so fast. So of course I just basically blurt out "Well the baby will be here on the 20th, so I could go and report back on Monday...." and of course everyone was so happy but it was SO AWKWARD! My ears are still on fire from the embarrassment.
@thirdtimesacharm2019 if I didn't do something because DH thought it was ridiculous, there are a lot of things I do currently that I wouldn't be able to do. Also, the baby is in your belly, so if you make them a basket it's only right that you get to eat it. We don't celebrate Easter, but if I had that good an excuse for more chocolate I would take it.
@thirdtimesacharm2019 - My original plan was to tell the girls about the baby on Easter by having a third basket for him. But then I got too excited and told DD1 anyway. That said, we do have a third basket coming and it was going to have the book "You're Getting a Baby Brother!" and then candy for me
@purplg8r so frustrating. I actually had my dental appt yesterday and there were no issues. I told them I was 20 weeks and she just said we will do the x-rays next time. I have had some frustrating experiences with my employee health department requiring I have a note from my OB for the smallest or most routine things.

So apparently there was some type of error made with my insurance policy that had me as the policy holder (instead of my husband who has always been the policy holder.) And when they gave us cards they didn't say there was any error or anything so we just like, whatevs guess I'm the policy holder. Then at the end of March we got a letter notifying us of the error and it said they we're fixing it and would send us new cards. Well, they opened a whole new policy, which restarted our deductible that was already almost entirely met. And they still haven't figured it out. I can't even find the old policy on my old account. And I'm going to be so angry if I have to pay my entire family deductible again.
@Beauxbaton Noooooo!!! That is awful!! I’m not sure my emotions could handle that kind of a curve ball right now. It’s really unfortunate that insurance companies are known for handling things poorly. And slowly. I sincerely hope this gets resolved quickly and easily for you. What a nightmare!
@Beauxbaton insurance companies suck! I’m currently battling with my flexible spending account administrator because despite the large amount of information I have sent them they only want to approve $16 of almost $900 in charges!!
What are you ladies' parents and in laws going to use as their grandparent names? My parents are going to be Granny and Dusty (my dad is a carpenter and the whole family has always teased him about being covered in dust at all times). My in laws haven't decided, but I'm low-key worried they're going to come up with something horribly kitchy.
@oklahomak My parents are Grammy and Pappa, my ILs are Saba and Savta which is hebrew. But you have time, it will be quiet a while until the baby can say anything, let alone be ready to call their grandparents something. I have an uncle who took 3 months after the baby was born to make up his mind. And I know people who had something all worked out, and then the baby pronounced to wrong, or said something else, and that stuck instead.
@Beauxbaton ohh that would make me ragey... not cool at all to have to do 2 deductibles in one year because they made a mistake. I hope it gets sorted out soon. @oklahomak my FIL wanted to be grandpa (which is slightly obnoxious because his kids call him papa, so it would be way simpler to have him just be papa). my dad is granddad to try to separate out the two (again a bit of a PITA) and my mom is grandmom....

@oklahomak DH and I are FT parents, but my parents and his already have grandkids and honestly I can never remember what my MIL is called bc it is just terrible. My FIL has has kitschy grandpa name. Hoping my kid decides to call them something else. My mom's grandmother name is not my favorite, but her other grandkids are a lot older, so this one may be calling her something else as well. I guess I'm not stuck in a "grandparent" name because I always called my grandmother by a different name and I felt like we had a very different, special relationship. Also, they can decide they want to be called this or that, but really it is whatever the kid decides to call them. My mom wanted a very specific name and my niece couldn't say it so it morphed in to her current name.
@Beauxbaton do you have EOB and other documentation to show/support that your deductible was nearly met, surely it is on the insurance company to fix this issue, but I'm sure they'll drag their feet. Are you in the US? Can you call the insurance commission in your state? file a complaint? Not that you need anything else added to your plate right now. how infuriating.

I finally broke down last night and put my wedding rings away. They’ve been getting uncomfortable, especially with afternoon swelling, and I’m afraid if I waited any longer they would have to be cut off. I miss them already.
@oklahomak My parents will probably be Grandma & Grandpa (last name). That is what my sister's kids call them and the whole grandparent name choosing concept is foreign to them. FIL and step-MIL haven't mentioned any names, but SIL's LOs call them Papa and Mimi, so they'll probably just stick with those. MIL mentioned a while ago that she wanted to be called Gigi. The only reservation I have is that is what SIL's LOs call step-MIL's mom. I might end up referring to her as "Gigi (first name)" to avoid confusing our LO.
@oklahomak My parents are already Momo and Poppy, so they’ll stay that. FIL will prob just be Grandpa and his gf will be whatever her grandkids call her (can’t recall right now)
@thirdtimesacharm2019 I’ve stopped wearing my wedding band because it was too snug (it’s a half size smaller than my engagement ring), and it makes me sad too. So I feel you!
@oklahomak My MIL requested "Meemaw". I think its cute and have no preference. I told my sister this and she said "And you are okay with that?" FIL asked for Papa but I call DH Papa with the dogs and likely will do so with the baby so it would get confusing. I suggested "Peepaw" LOL. My parents are just your classic 'Grandma 'insert name', Grandpa 'Insert name'.
@Beauxbaton I had a similar issue last year when DH changed jobs and we went on cobra through the old policy. They basically wrote up a new policy with all new deductibles/out of pockets. We had already met EVERYTHING including out of pocket max. I then shattered my ankle which required an extremely pricey surgery and we started getting all of these bills!! I thought oh h*llllls no! It TOok many phone calls, hours of my time, and speaking to many people at the insurance company but I finally got it all sorted and they approved the new claims at 100% coverage eventually. It was BCBS. I also scrounged up all my records from the year and payments made for proof
@Beauxbaton - That's some bullshit!! I would definitely be having whomever in Benefits/HR rectifying that ASAP. Not even ok.
@thirdtimesacharm2019 - Ugh, that's so frustrating! Thankfully, we just switched FSA administrators and the new people are great. The previous ones (UHC) were AWFUL and would never notify you when they needed substantiation or when they had approved/denied supporting documentation ... and would just turn your card off. So annoying. FX you get that straightened out!
@oklahomak - My mom's parents were Grandma/Grandpa [Last Name] and my dad's parents were Oma/Opa because they were German immigrants and preferred that. My preference is to stick with Grandma/Grandpa [Last Name] because both of his parents have divorced and remarried and I think it would get confusing having 6 different names (since a few of them were trying to pitch some creative names). My parents are divorced, but are dating, I prefer their partners being called by their first name since I've clearly stated to both of them I'd disown them if either of them married again (loooooong story).

@olivemomma - Girl, me too. I hit the deductible on my old insurance before my new company's insurance kicked in on 3/1. I'm going to pay 2 full deductibles this year.
@Beauxbaton If it was an error on their side, surely they will transfer the "credit" of what you've already paid? I would be a thorn in their sides until they fixed that!!
@thirdtimesacharm2019 I'm sorry about the rings! I have a right hand ring that is bigger than my wedding rings which I switch over once the wedding set won't fit. But a lot ladies off my first BMB buy fake $10 rings off Amazon and honestly they look pretty good!
@MamaK225 I haven’t done an FSA in years because the last place I worked it was handled so poorly, but DS1 started braces this year + new baby = maxed out federal allowance
So we don't have an FSA this year, because pregnancy brain I hit save instead of submit, and didn't realize until enrollment closed, it's the type you have to re-enroll every year (not sure if that is standard). So when we can use a life event to change it we are going to re-instate it at the max... that will probably take care of the whole hospital bill... but if there is anything left over I will have the fun of going through months of receipts and submitting them for reimbursement. And I can't even blame PayFlex even though I hate them because it was 100% my fault.
@oklahomak my parents (mom and step-dad) are "Grandma and Grandpa", occasionally "Grandpa Firstname" if Grandpa doesnt get his attention, and MIL is "Grandma Mary". We didnt give them a choice...just started calling them that. When my bio-dad showed up last month after 2 years, we just said he was "mommy's dad" but didnt give him a name since he's never around.
Growing up my mom's parents and Grandma and Grandpa and my dads parents were the same. However when talking offline about which set was coming to visit it was "the good" (moms side) and "the smelly" (dads side - smokers).
Thanks for the heads up on the dentist! I had no idea that would be an issue!
@oklahomak this is my parents first grandbaby. I told them they could decide, and choose anything reasonable. My mom said "Gertrude". I told her absolutely not. No way in hell are we confusing our children by having them call Grandma some weird random name. (Her name is NOT Gertrude, for the record. She just thinks it would be funny).
I had made a joke that it could be GAM-GAM (her initials are GAM) and my dad could be GDM -GDM (pronounced ga-dum-ga-dum), which I thought was hilarious, but he was intensely unhappy about 🤣.
Anyway, dad has chosen Grandpa, but Mom can't seem to decide. She thinks Grandma and Granny sound "too old." Baba and Gran are already taken in our family.
@chillycanadian omg that's hilarious 😂 Gertrude? Bc it sounds like a "grandma name"?
My parents picked different (but normal alternatives) grandparent names Bc including both sides, we have 4 live grandparents, 7 live great grandparents, and 1 live great great grandma from our son's perspective, and they ALL go by "grandma"/"grandpa" except my parents. Then 2 great grandparents followed suit and picked new names so there's only 5 grandmas and 3 grandpas now. My FIL made fun of my parents saying "I don't need a special name to be special to my grandchild" when we asked DH's parents if they had any name preferences 🙄
Names might change as LO talks more, but I like having SOMETHING to call them for the 1.5 years+ that LO doesn't actually call them anything themselves. We still reference them all the time.

@oklahomak my parents are MawMaw and PawPaw, they're from the south and its very common there. DHs mom is Grandma Ingy. She wasnt in our kids lives until DD was born for a lot of reasons. And when she was finally at a place where we felt she could handle being around it took us forever to choose a name. DHs dad isn't in the picture. But his grandpa is Papa and his grandma is Grandy.
@Avrilmai I am not sure I have all of the paper EOB as I usually just recycle them because they are on your online account. But the thing is, they aren't on my online account anymore. I can't even find that poluxy anywhere on my account or my husband's. Like it's just been wiped away. I do still have all of my bills.from my doctor's office that show it was ran through my previous policy. The only thing I don't have is the recirec from the first few prescriptions i bought before the deductible was met. But I might be able to get them from the pharmacy. I am giving the lady until the end of business today to call me back. If she doesn't I'll be calling again tomorrow to try to get this all sorted.
@oklahomak ILs are Grandma and Papa, SIL had kids first and that is what they call them. My birth mother and her husband are also Grandma and Papa because men always go by Papa on that side. My parents are Nana and Grandpa because my mom was jealous/annoyed that my kids would have 2 other grandmas so she wanted to be unique ::eyeroll:: My dad thinks it is ridiculous and always acts like he can't remember what to have the kids call her. When there cpuld be confusion with the nanas and grandpas we add first names.
