Re: Bellybutton Status

  • I swear my bellybutton goes flat/sticks out earlier with each successive pregnancy. And I hate it!!!!!!! It's flat already but also starting to be visible through my shirts in a weird way.
Interested in hearing if anyone else has drama going on with their bellybutton.
  • Loading the player...
  • My belly button has never gone flat or stuck out even with a 9+ lb and 22 inch long baby. I feel like I’m out of the norm here lol
  • Mine gets kind of flat/stretched closer to delivery, but has never popped out.
  • @bartonolivia @Bear14+ same here. It’s only stretched and gotten flat, no outie though! Part of me wants it, but part of me doesn’t.
  • Mine is still technically an innie but it is flattening... I don't want it to pop out. Not that I really have any control over that though!
  • @bartonolivia I'm jealous. Do you feel like your abs split apart in the past or have they stayed pretty much together?  I have been blaming my bellybutton issues on diastisis recti (which has never healed after my first pregnancy) but who knows what's actually causing it.
  • @cbeanz I think they’ve definitely split apart for sure. I’m not sure if it’s healed now or not!
  • @bartonolivia I'm with you, mine stays an innie no matter what.
  • Mine gets a little stretched and feels different to me, but it stays an innie (at least it did with the first two!)
  • Mine is an innie right now bit I voted flattie because I always get a weird flat spot around my belly button (I obviously totally misunderstood the categories). My mom swears it's because I had a herniated belly button when I was a baby. I feel like mine was an outie by the end last time but maybe it was just a flattie. I'll have to go see if I can find pics now.
  • Mine never went back in after my second pregnancy. It's completely herniated. :-(

  • DH and I were joking about my belly button. Its starting to get flatter when it's been a major innie my whole life. DH joked that I'd get to see parts of it I've never met before.
  • Mine pops towards the end.

  • @nopegoat like a turkey timer!  :D I always wish mine would do something cute like that, but no... fat/chubby swamp hag pregnancy ;) I embrace my swamp hag nature dangit!
  • It's still an innie although I feel like it's getting wider LOL! I really hope it doesn't pop, my husband is wanting it to pop, he says its cute.
  • I have a smaller umbilical hernia, so mine is already looking like it's popped out, but is actually just the herniated part popping. It's still an innie at this point. (19 weeks)

  • @saroos3137 me too! Mine looks so funny after I eat lol.

did anyone else take their belly button ring out for good or did you get the pregnancy ones?
  • @mom2b77373 Girl, I took my bellybutton ring out 20 years ago! Lol
  • @mom2b77373 I took mine out at the halfway mark with my first pregnancy and never put it back in. Now that I see how my body is changing with baby #2 I have no regrets with that decision lol.
  • Thought I'd dig this up and see where we are all at now.. mine is slowly betraying me and is starting to pop out.. it looks so funny now! 24wks now.. this innie of mine will for sure be an outtie soon!
  • Mine is flat turning to outie! 25 weeks.

Mine is an innie but I think it's starting to pop a bit. It's an outie every time I cough or sneeze:)
  • Mine is going flat, and it may actually become an outie this time around. I would be amazed.
  • Completely popped out over here! Visible through multiple layers of clothing.
  • 25w 4d and still very much an innie. Lol
  • I'm at 25+2 and I can still fit about half my finger nail deep in there. I used to be able to bury my whole nail bed in there, so it is getting smaller.
  • Mine is a flatow. It looks like it's been folded, so I don't know if it'll pop or not.
  • Glad you revived this thread! I just noticed mine getting less deep this week. I can only barely fit my finger in up to the first joint (for me, that means it’s definitely more shallow!).
  • Mine has definitely flattened out much earlier this second pregnancy. It's still kinda an innie in the morning but bloating and lots of good and water throughout the day trends to make it pop a bit more by nighttime. My mom constantly is looking at what she calls the turkey baster wondering when it's gonna pop. I must say though my belly button has never been so clean
  • Mines for sure flattened!!! I feel very confident that it will pop by the time I give birth. But there is a dark circle around my belly button now. Looks like it’s bruised. Everything I’m readying says it’s the hormones so I’m not worried about it. Just popped up out of nowhere lol.
  • Mine has popped... I have been checking every morning hoping it wouldn't! Though the other day, when I woke up on my side, the little one seemed to be curled up on the same side and my belly button had receded back to a more flat status. Once we were both up and moving though, it popped out again.
  • Still an innie at 26 weeks, but definitely getting flatter. It was close to being an outie with DS2, so I think it’ll definitely pop with this one.

  • My innie has become a flattie and I don't hate it

  • I’m still an innie at 26/27 weeks, hoping mine will pop this time but it didn’t with my first pregnancy.

  • So my bellybutton appears to be getting really stretched and I still have a whole trimester to go. Does it ever get stretched too much, like where it hurts? I'm worried it'll start to hurt if it keeps stretching.
  • @cindler I feel like mine has stretched out wider, doesn’t hurt though. Guess we’ll see what happens as I get into that third trimester
  • @cindler I don’t remember mine ever hurting with my first. I remember plenty of other pain and discomfort though.
  • @cindler mine is all stretched out and flat but there is no pain.
