@marebear15 that’s why I did it, I’m cheap 🤣. Another tip for you, duct tape it to the mattress so it doesn’t move. I’ve also seen people use three of them (stacked in a triangle formation) so it’s a bigger hump to have to roll over.
@marebear15 Fantastic news about your daughter! What a relief! I hope the genetic testing comes out well, too. As for the toddler rail, we used one for both kids. Both definitely needed it. By the time we took the toddler rail away, they were pretty used to their space and only fell out a couple times. We just lined pillows up along side for a while until we felt comfortable.
Any thoughts about this cycle? It's our first cycle, I think we are taking more of a NTNP approach to start
Any questions? nope
Rant/Rave/Brag: I thought DD may have had pink eye over the weekend, took her in yesterday and it turned out to be an ear infection just starting. I have a sore throat this morning, pretty sure because I used the Nose Frida yesterday. I have a love/hate relationship with that thing.
GTKY: What's the most disgusting thing your kid has ever done? I guess there hasn't been a lot of really gross things yet. Currently she likes to do raspberries but with her tongue sticking out and actually spitting on my face. She says "I eat poopy" a lot but has never actually done it.
@holly321 I'm glad you were able to avoid an ER trip. I hope he feels better for the field trip Friday.
@Spartanrd4 Molars have been the absolute worst for us. The 2 year ones take forever. I swear the bottom ones were coming in for 6 months. We are still waiting on the top ones.
@justkeepswimming8 I'm sorry the photographer canceled. That really sucks, hopefully you find a solution you are happy with.
@kpearse99 Mommy/parent dating is hard! I'm glad you got along with your neighbors.
@mercury94 I have such a hard time with the "worth it" decisions, I had ice cream every day for the last 4 days.
@spacemountaineer I think I've seen things about waiting 18 months before getting pregnant again to allow your body to heal and replenish nutrient stores. We are going to end up having a 3-4 year age gap (hopefully) because I ended up getting a thyroid issue after birth. It took 18 months to diagnose finally and another year to heal.
@MJDsquared Looks like we are in the same boat, Month 1, but more NTNP!
@flinstone-2 I think you can mark illness on FF and it will adjust the algorithms. I could be wrong though.
@marebear15 That's good news about your DD, hopefully the genetic results don't take too long to come back. We got a toddler railing (Munchkin, $25 I think) because DD moves around so much. I always see them for sale on FB marketplace or varagesale. The first couple nights were rough but eventually it worked out really well. Now she doesn't even get out of bed in the morning, she just waits until I come in.
@m6agua it is hard, right?! Also... it's not fun! I barely have time for the friends I currently have.... I don't need to add anymore in the mix

@marebear15 I am glad to hear about your DD's test results- and we have a railing on our toddler bed (it was her crib that transitioned to a bed and the railing went with it) but sometimes she doesn't even sleep with her head on the end with the railing! lol I have heard of people putting a mattress or blankets/pillows on the floor in case they fall over the edge.
@m6agua Sorry about DD's ear infection and your sore throat Yes I have heard the 2 year molars are the worse- not looking forward to this process. Her worst teeth so far were her canine teeth- those were the only other ones where she was biting other kids.
@lcking82 wow, i'm glad it has improved things for your cycle! @kpearse99 yes, it was sooooo nice to actually be a couple again instead of just mom and dad. I think DH was surprised how much he enjoyed it. He works a ton and doesn't get to see DS much, so he hates the idea of going away and seeing him even less, but I hope and think this changed his mind.
@kpearse99 thank you! I actually thought DD’s latest sickness was allergies but since it’s in her lungs I’m not sure if that is a thing? My parents majorly took one for the team since I’m out of town and took her to the doctor so I don’t have a lot of details but I plan to follow up on that later
@marebear15 so so happy to hear about your DD’s results!
@m6agua I am terrified of pink eye because I don’t know how I would get drops in DD’s eyes. Based on that alone I am very happy for you that you dodged that bullet!
@bows22 DS has had pink eye a few times. Putting the drops in his eye sucks, but what’s worse was the time we all got it. So, I’m dealing with a really unpleasant eye infection, a steroid shot, and this weird eye cream while trying to use eye drops on a baby. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.
@justkeepswimming8 that’s sooo frustrating. I think personally I would try to find someone who could have the pics back to you in time.
@Spartanrd4 teething is the worst. I just know my child is going to be the biter. She already tries to bite my nose and constantly bites her clothing.
@kpearse99 glad about the new parent friends. I don’t really have anyone close that I consider a close parent friend aside from a neighbor whose moving out of country in a month. Don’t know if I have the energy to find another lol
What number are you trying for? 2
Month/Cycle? 5
WTO/TWW? Waiting on o to be confirmed
Ages of other child? 14 months
Any thoughts about this cycle? This is my last month for a 2 year gap. Makes me kind of sad. Technically off the bench though which is nice!
Any questions? Anyone deal with children having night terrors? DD wakes up from a dead sleep straight to angry/scared cry 3-4 times a night.
Rant/Rave/Brag: not really much going on. Going to cancun for a bachelorette part in a week and it’s the first time I’ll be away from DD for an extended time. It will also be concluded right before test time if O is confirmed soon, so not sure how to deal with that.
GTKY: What's the most disgusting thing your kid(s) has ever done? She’s eaten animal poop. Most disgusting thing I’ve ever experienced. I took the “sample” to be tested caused I was so worried and horrified. She clamped down and I had to pry her mouth open to get her bitten piece out. It makes me gag just thinking about it.
@Spartanrd4 Sorry about the biting! I'm sure that's frustrating. @justkeepswimming8 That stinks about the photographer! @spacemountaineer MY OB and GP have said 18 months from birth to conception to reduce risk. Our baby was growth restricted, and I had major blood pressure issues, so we waited to hopefully get the best possible outcome. @marebear15 Good news for you! But that mouse story freaks me out soo bad! I plan to keep DS in his crib as long as possible. We still use just a sleep sack on cold nights. @m6agua "I eat poopy" made me LOL! @madcouplewithabox Cancun sounds awesome! OMG about the eating poop!
What number are you trying for? 2
Month/Cycle? 3/3
WTO/TWW? WTO maybe?
Ages of other child(ren)? 19 months
Any thoughts about this cycle? FF is confusing me. Will add chart to WTO thread. It still thinks I O'd on day 8, when I typically don't until 18-20. I haven't had a temp spike yet.
Any questions? Nah, just trying to figure out my cycle.
Rant/Rave/Brag: DS is dealing with an ear infection and respiratory infection. He's on an antibiotic, steroid, and more breathing treatments. He was able to go back to daycare yesterday and is coughing less at night now. The work on our house is almost done! All that's left is carpet cleaning! I'll post kitchen before/after in spoilers.
Before the pipe burst vs after renovations
GTKY: What's the most disgusting thing your kid(s) has ever done? He stuck his hand in the toilet the other day, and he eats the dog's food sometimes.

@mrsvp614 Your kitchen is beautiful! I really want to update our kitchen, but that will be a long time down the road. I'm sorry your DS is sick, hopefully he gets better quickly!
@bows22 DD had pink eye when she was just over 1 yo, it was difficult to get the eye drops in but we figured it out. Having her lay on the changing table or someones lap with her head hanging off helped. It sucked because we had to do it every 4 hours. But I am glad we didn't have to do that again.
AFM... My sore throat gradually got worse through out the day. I have other symptoms to go along with it so I am waiting on the strep culture tomorrow. If it isn't that, I'm thinking the flu or maybe a sinus infection or a really bad cold. I just need to feel better by Friday, DH and I are going to the movies and we are going to do a bunch of spring cleaning.
Completely random (and probably even stupid) question - At the risk of being embarrassed by this question I'm gonna put it out there anyway.... Does it ruin any chances of conceiving if you shower shortly after BDing?! DH and I tend to BD more in the mornings than evenings, due to being completely exhausted by the end of the day, and then about 10-20 minutes later I have to shower and start getting ready for work. I've been wondering about this for some time now...

@madcouplewithabox DS went through a night terrors stage. When he woke up screaming, we would play the Winnie the Poo theme song on our phones to kind of bring him out of it. It worked much better than trying to hold him or rock him.
@lcking82 Thanks! I didn't think so either but I've been really curious about it lately haha and I certainly don't do that!!

Any thoughts about this cycle? No real thoughts as this is our first cycle TTC #2. I feel like I mentally blocked out what it was like TTC DS that I need to figure it out all over again. Lol! I do plan to temp this cycle to see where I'm at and I plan on doing acupuncture 1x/week. No OPKs until after a few months as they tend to really stress me out! So my DH and I will HIO EOD once I notice some EWCM.

@mercury94 that sounds so awful. thank you for adding to my dread of pink eye haha. I think I’ve had pink eye once in my life, is that something that’s worse when you are an adult?
@madcouplewithabox sometimes DD will wake up screaming bloody murder but if I try to pick her up she just keeps screaming and if I put her down she falls right back to sleep. I have been wondering if it’s something like night terrors but I don’t know anything about them. congrats on being off the bench!
@MrsVP614 I’m obsessed with your new kitchen. Everything looks perfect! DD has been on a steroid and breathing treatments since Monday and we are attempting daycare tomorrow so hopefully it goes ok.
@m6agua ugh every 4 hours....were you able to put the drops in on your own or is it a 2 person job? I hope you feel better soon and definitely by Friday. What movie are you seeing?
@puppylove8910 welcome! OPKs stress me out too. I have a really short LH surge so I end up testing a million times a day so that I don’t miss it.
@bows22: that sounds like the night terrors my DD has had. "woke up" screaming, but wasn't really awake at all...like wouldn't respond to hugging, comfort, or anything. Then I laid her down, and she eventually fell back asleep (a few minutes later). My DH was so freaked out, but my mom had warned me about it (apparently I had them really bad as a kid, and now I'm a sleep-walker/sleep-talker when I'm overtired or stres@bows22
@madcouplewithabox: is your kiddo able to be comforted while she's screaming? I think the lack of sooth-ability is one of the hallmarks of a night terror. If they're bad, definitely talk to your pedi - I think sometimes they can put kiddos on low-dose melatonin to help?
My DD has only had night terrors when she's been way overtired for the day (late bedtime/skipped nap and such). Luckily it's only been a few times, but super scary when it happens.
Thank you ladies for answering my question and expounding on vbacs and c-sections!
@MJDsquared - I mainly don't like the idea of recovering from a possible c-section right around the holidays. I look forward to Christmas just a little too much. I also have friends who don't like their December/early January birthdays. DH told me that since we don't want it to happen this month that of course it's going to happen.
@marebear15 - It is a bit hard, but I really am happy for those women! We use a toddler railing but that's because DS is a thrasher. This is the one we use. I'm so glad to hear about your DD's results!
@bows22 I think it was mostly a 2 person job but I figured it out when I was alone. I am finally feeling better this afternoon, but yesterday was rough. We are going to see captain marvel and plan on seeing Avengers End Game later this month.
@lcking82 oh interesting thank you! I’ll have to pay more attention to if it happens on nights she might be overtired. I do think she’s ready for an earlier bedtime but have been trying to delay it until after 4/15 so that she isn’t asleep by the time I get home (tax season).
@m6agua fun! DH and I are trying to have a date night soon and are thinking about seeing a movie, we haven’t been to one since before DD was born. He would love to see either of the movies you mentioned hahaha. I want to see Dumbo but I think I’ll get vetoed.
@mercury94 Noooo! How bad is it? @lcking82@bows22 Oh, no! One of my sisters had night terrors as a toddler and I’ll never forget how she acted during one in the car one late night while we were driving home from my grandparents’ house. It was scary just watching how out of it she was. I feel like I read something about vitamins and the phenomenon. @m6agua We also love / hate the Nose Frida over here. DS either pushes it away and gets annoyed or he grabs it and shoves it up a nostril himself. Lol
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*
I feel like I should rant here, rather than the dailies, since it involves DS. DH and I got into an argument last night and he's still being shitty this morning. I have to go to bed by 8 to get 4 hours of sleep before my night shift, so it's always a mad rush in the evenings. I cooked dinner, then gave DS a bath. Then when I gave DS his medicine, he spit it out all over himself and his clean PJs right after the bath, so DH and I were frustrated and he asked me why I was in "a mood." I said, "because I still have to do all the dishes and clean up before I go to bed." He said, "well, you didn't ask me to do the dishes." So I replied, "I shouldn't have to ask." I explained that I was frustrated that he sat and watched TV while I was bathing DS when there's a bunch of other things he could help with, not only doing dishes. He turned it into me calling him a lazy asshole, which I didn't say, and then accused me of not doing anything all day, when I unpacked three boxes of dishes into our new cabinets, took a nap after my morning shift, then picked up our son and cooked dinner. I would say 95% of our fights revolve around my schedule and him not having empathy for how hard it is to work full time, do all of the things around the house and for our family, and try to get an amount of sleep that allows a human to survive. He gets upset that I don't rest, but he also gets upset that I'm not spending all of my time doing things around the house.
Grrr, sorry for the long rant, but I needed to get it out and wonder if anyone else's partner doesn't seem appreciative or understand a mom's mental load.
@MrsVP614 That's so frustrating. I'm pretty big on sharing the workload. Maybe YH can just do the dishes at night so you don't have to run around? Or he can do bath time so you can clean up? That's what we do, and they we read the kids a story together.
@MrsVP614 - When DD was a newborn, I would get frustrated like that at DH. But then I realized that I'd never asked for help, and the way MH brain is wired, he doesn't see the mess that needs to be cleaned. So the next time I felt frustrated with him not helping, I tried to remember if I had actually asked him to do anything, or just assumed that he could see what needed to be done. Now if you are asking and he's not doing anything, that's a different story. But something about the ways guy's brains are wired, they literally don't see the full trashcan or the sink full of dishes.
@ruby696 That’s what happens sometimes when I ask. I just assumed he’s start on the dishes, but I should never assume. @marebear15 I texted him a bit ago and apologized for getting frustrated and that I will tell him what I need from now on, so I don’t blow up. I do need to be better at that.
@MrsVP614 I totally agree with @marebear15. Our evenings run smoothly because I'm like an evete coordinator, directing everyone on what needs to be done. It's annoying that I have to, but like @marebear15 said, MH literally will not make the connection between seeing the dishes in the sink and thinking he should wash them. Part of that is because he's used to me 1) doing them and 2) asking him to start the dishes if I want him to do them.
@MrsVP614 that happens to me too....I’ll assume DH is doing something and come downstairs and it’s not done and I get so frustrated. I will say that having set schedules/routines really helps cut down on my frustration. I think that might be harder for you guys because of how your work schedules are but for example we know that while someone is putting DD to bed, the other is responsible for cleaning up the kitchen. That way I don’t have to ask (or vice versa). As helpful as DH is though, he still doesn’t understand the mental load that moms have. I try to explain it but he just doesn’t get it!
@MrsVP614 I've been there, mama! Like the other ladies mentioned, it makes everyone's life easier to just ask for the help, even though we think we shouldn't have to. Men's brains work differently than ours do, they don't notice everything that we do. I hope things are less frustrating tonight for you guys!
@mercury94 Nooooo!!!! Ugh that really sucks, I hope he's being a trooper about it and that it's not a bad case of it and will recover quickly!
AFM - DS got hit with strep AND a stomach bug of some sort Wednesday night. Projectile vomited all over the carpet and in MH's slipper! I spent 7 hours yesterday washing, cleaning and disinfecting EVERYTHING from the walls to doors to baseboards and floors. My house hasn't "shined" like this for a loooong time!

Fortunately the HFM isn’t too bad. No fever. Just a sore on his tongue and red spots on his arms and legs. If I didn’t know that a kid at daycare had HFM recently, I might have just thought it was an allergy. He’s being super cuddly, though, and he’s not sleeping well (I think his throat hurts). We’re going to the pediatrician this morning to confirm that it’s HFM.

@m6agua Sorry about DD's ear infection and your sore throat
@kpearse99 yes, it was sooooo nice to actually be a couple again instead of just mom and dad. I think DH was surprised how much he enjoyed it. He works a ton and doesn't get to see DS much, so he hates the idea of going away and seeing him even less, but I hope and think this changed his mind.
DS born 9.17

@kpearse99 thank you! I actually thought DD’s latest sickness was allergies but since it’s in her lungs I’m not sure if that is a thing? My parents majorly took one for the team since I’m out of town and took her to the doctor so I don’t have a lot of details but I plan to follow up on that later
@marebear15 so so happy to hear about your DD’s results!
@m6agua I am terrified of pink eye because I don’t know how I would get drops in DD’s eyes. Based on that alone I am very happy for you that you dodged that bullet!

GTKY: What's the most disgusting thing your kid(s) has ever done? He stuck his hand in the toilet the other day, and he eats the dog's food sometimes.

DH and I tend to BD more in the mornings than evenings, due to being completely exhausted by the end of the day, and then about 10-20 minutes later I have to shower and start getting ready for work.
I've been wondering about this for some time now...

Any questions?

TTC#2 April 2019@lcking82 oh interesting thank you!

@lcking82 @bows22 Oh, no!
Lol

@marebear15
I texted him a bit ago and apologized for getting frustrated and that I will tell him what I need from now on, so I don’t blow up. I do need to be better at that.

DH is doing something and come downstairs and it’s not done and I get so frustrated.
@puppylove8910 welcome!!! 2 is such a fun age!
@mercury94 Nooooo!!!! Ugh that really sucks, I hope he's being a trooper about it and that it's not a bad case of it and will recover quickly!
