  • @Spartanrd4: when my 2y/o DD is in timeout (all of 2 minutes) she mainly just cries and screams at me. Then as soon as the timer rings, she wants hugs and snuggles.

    Month/Cycle? 11/8

    WTO/TWW? TWW, 4dpo

    Ages of other child(ren)?  2.5

Any thoughts about this cycle?  I’m honestly fairly pessimistic right now.

    Any questions?  Nah

Rant/Rave/Brag:  DD actually helped me around the house this weekend and it was adorable. She helped me pick up leaves and sticks in the yard, and wash our patio furniture.

GTKY: What's the most disgusting thing your kid(s) has ever done?  Definitely when she licked an NYC subway pole - she was on my lap, and DH and I were chatting. This woman suddenly gave a horrified look, and DD was licking and knawing on the pole. But - she didn’t really get sick this winter, so maybe it was good for her immune system?
  • @holly321 I thought I had a busy week this week, but you totally have me beat.  I hope you make it through with your sanity!

@Spartanrd4 I hope you have some great one-on-one time with YD!  DS used to get mad at me when I had to travel for work and refuse to acknowledge me for hours when I returned.  It was heartbreaking.

@justkeepswimming8 I'd definitely go with a different photographer, especially if you want the photos for her birthday.

@lcking82 I love when they start helping around the house!  Even though they can't do much, they are so cute trying.  DS gets really excited when I tell him that he'll get to pick up all the dog poop and mow the law when he gets bigger. . . I'm sure that enthusiasm will fade quickly.

@kpearse99 I'm glad your son enjoyed his play date!  When I was a kid, all the neighborhood kids played outside and the parents were all friends.  It was so nice and I hope that my kids get the same experience.

What number are you trying for? 3

    Month/Cycle?  18/10ish

    WTO/TWW? TWW

Ages of other child(ren)? DS 4 and DD is 3 this month

Any thoughts about this cycle? Not really, just trying to keep the SS at bay.

    Any questions? Nope

Rant/Rave/Brag: RANT: DS does not get along with another boy in his class.  In DS's defense, this kid has spent the last two years being kind of a punk to him.  For the most part, DS stands up for himself and is no angel either.  However, last week, the other kid came over to him to join DS in playing and DS said, "Go away, I don't like you and you're not my friend." Oh hell no. I have no tolerance for children being intentionally hurtful towards each other.  We had to have a talk about being kind and not intentionally hurting people's feelings, and DS lost privileges to his stuffed raccoon for a week (which he hasn't touched in a year, but OMG, the tears).  I'm just at a loss as to how to get him to understand that while he has every right to stand up for himself, he still needs to be the bigger person and not be intentionally cruel.

GTKY: What's the most disgusting thing your kid(s) has ever done?  We go to a feed store to buy dog food and after we're done, we take the kids to look at the chickens/ducks/bunnies/pigeons/doves they have for sale.  Once, I lifted DS up to see some quail up high and DD, who was probably 18 months, reached down and stuck her finger in the dirty water in a pigeon cage and then put her finger in her mouth.  The whole thing happened in slow motion and I legit gagged. I told MH that night that I was pretty sure she was going to end up with the plague.
  • @spartanrd4 good luck with stopping the biting. With my oldest child, it was really hard to find a way to correct behavior that works.  She does better with positive reinforcement, and does not in any way respond to punishment.  My youngest is easier to scold.

@justkeepswimming8 I am sorry you are having a hard time with the pictures, but I love/miss pebbles hair!

@ruby696 I am sorry you are dealing with your ds having a conflict with another child.  Last year ds was super competitive with one boy in his classes and he was constantly mean to him!  Fortunately, they are separated this year.

AFM, I called our pediatrician to see when ds needs fluids ( we aren’t there yet, but I didn’t want to have to call later.). The moron said to make an appointment if he throws up for a week!!!!  I asked to speak with someone else.  We are still waiting and watching, but if he doesn’t pee soon, we do have to go to the ER.
  • @holly321 holy moly!!  When was the last time he peed?!  What "doctor" would say to call only if he's been throwing up for a week?!?!

  • @kpearse99 I should clarify it was a nurse , not a doctor, but still, the nurse should know and be able to answer!  Last time he peed for sure was 5:30.   I feel like he may have peed again, but that’s still been a long time and he isn’t sure he peed either.   He has had a few sips of pedialyte and is keeping it down, so I am hopeful that we won’t have to go to be ER!
  • @holly321 the thought of bologna vomit makes my stomach churn 🤢.

@Spartanrd4 DS did the same when we started time outs. He doesn’t seem too affected by it lol.

@justkeepswimming8 I had a similar thing happen with 1 year pics for ds. Our photog cancelled on the way to where we were meeting for the pics. Needless to say, I was pissed and ended up not getting photos done. Hope you’re able to figure something out!

@lcking82 so cute when they want to help!

@kpearse99 glad you had such a nice weekend! It’s so nice when you meet people and it just works! Trying to make friends as an adult sucks.

@ruby696 I’m dying laughing at your gtky. We had a similar situation at a small zoo near us. Kids are so gross haha.

Any thoughts about this cycle? On the fence about really trying this cycle.

    Any questions? Nah

Rant/Rave/Brag: Since it’s so much colder today, DS and I took some friends to a living museum near us. It was fun seeing the toddlers so enthralled by fish and snakes. DS loves dinosaurs and they have a huge outdoor boardwalk with different dinosaurs and part of it is set up as an archeological dig for fossils. We had a blast.

GTKY: What's the most disgusting thing your kid(s) has ever done? I had the privilege of catching his vomit last year when we were all down with the stomach bug. I never thought I’d be that mom, but here I am.
  • @holly321 So sorry for the sick kiddo. Stomach sick is the worst. Also, the nurse is crazy. I hope he feels better quick.

@Spartanrd4 Teething is the worst. I’ve heard the 2-year molars are particularly bad. I hope there’s no more biting. Also, Cingrats to Michigan State on the Final Four.

@justkeepswimming8 Sorry the pictures aren’t working out the way you want. I’m sure your LO is adorable with Pebbles hair. Sounds so great.

@lcking82 I love the sound of a helpful kiddo. Sounds like you’re doing a great job with her. Also, my kid would totally lick that pole too given the chance.

@kpearse99 Yay for awesome neighbors. That sounds like such a great time.

@ruby696 Teaching kids to respect each other and be good people is so hard and so important. Good for you.

Any thoughts about this cycle? I’m not really sure. Per FF, I am 10dpo, so I’ll test Saturday if there’s no AF, but I haven’t had a natural cycle in so long, I don’t really know what to expect. If the test’s negative, I guess I’ll start provera and assume that FF was wrong about the O.

    Any questions? Nope

Rant/Rave/Brag:  We took a spontaneous trip on Saturday. The next large city is about 2 hours away, so we go sometimes. Got dessert at my favorite ice cream place. My diet stresses only eating dessert when it’s worth it. That was. DS has a blast too. He was so excited about all the new things he got to see even though he was too young for most everything at the amusement park we went to.

GTKY: What's the most disgusting thing your kid(s) has ever done?  Week long really awful diarrhea comes to mind. Also, about two weeks ago, he took a bite out of a foam ball. I got some of it out of his mouth, but it wasn’t all of it, so he swallowed some.

  • @kbrown2385, not the same, but years ago at work, I knocked my coffee off my desk and my friend stuck her hands out to catch it, lol.

And ds Peed literally right before we were going to leave to go to the ER, and hasn’t been sick since.
  • @marebear15 - I love your gifs for this thread!

@justkeepswimming8 - I'm sorry, the situation with the photographer sounds frustrating.

@holly321 - I hope DS has fun on his field trip and that you  get some rest! Did you end up prepping your produce?

@icking82- DS is the same way with timeouts and post timeouts.

@Spartanrd4 - DS was like that with DH all weekend. DS even told me to go away when I tried to sit down with them. I'm glad they have a good relationship.

@kpearse99 - oh that so great things worked out with your neighbors. We have that with our next door neighbors and it's so nice! I also love we have gotten to a point in our relationship that neither of us judge the other for a messy house or not being dressed/showered for that day.

Any thoughts about this cycle? Yes, but can I just say I'm glad that last cycle is done. I have a lot of thoughts about this cycle and upcoming cycles. I've put it in a spoiler so it's easier to skip over.
I've never been so happy to see AF arrive. Honestly this cycle, we aren't TTA, but we are barely going to TTC. My possible due date for this cycle is New Year's Day. If I am not able to find a Dr that is willing to a do a TOLAC (VBAC), then I would probably be having this baby the week of Christmas. That just doesn't sound fun at all. We'll probably BD once during my FW just to say we gave it a try. That way I don't have to wonder (kind of like last cycle, but with even less effort).

On the other hand, it's funny how back and forth I feel about the whole timing thing. For example, I haven't been reading the grad check-ins as some of those women I got acquainted while I was benched. It makes me feel behind for some reason. I am happy for them, but I don't like where it takes me mentally when I read their updates. I'd like to stick with the whole relaxed but trying approach.

DH and I have just accepted that there will be at least 4 year age gap for our kids. It's not what we hoped for or wanted, but it's what we've got. There is a part of me that is hoping to get KU this summer. Mainly, it puts us with a spring due date and that would help if I got  Postpartum Anxiety again. Getting outside and having longer days helped a lot! Honestly, this mindset does help right now. I don't feel as much pressure.  This approach definitely shows I am new to TTGP.

Any questions? I'm a little hesitant to ask this as I'm afraid it could cause contention. Reading March Randoms made me wonder this: how long did your doctor or your research say to wait before trying to have another baby? I'm not judging or trying to figure out the "right answer". This question stems clearly out of curiosity.

Rant/Rave/Brag: Rave: My ear infection still hasn't completely cleared up, but I'm feeling much better. Rant: I think DS is sick again. He was up for 3 hours in the middle of the night last night. Seriously, he has had one week of heath between sickness. That lasted 2.5 weeks.

GTKY: What's the most disgusting thing your kid(s) has ever done? While he was in the bath, DS has caught pee in a cup and drank it (he found it gross). Fortunately, DH witnessed that one and not me. DS has also put his hand in his poopy diaper a few times. He always comes to me when he does it and says, "Mud! Mud!" No buddy, that's definitely not mud! Luckily, we haven't had him "finger paint" with it... yet.
  • @spacemountaineer Don't be afraid to ask any questions! It's been some time for me but I don't recall my Dr. giving me a time frame of how long to wait.  I ended with a C/S so I do remember her telling me that the longer I waited the greater chance of a VBAC I could have, but that they wouldn't let me go past 40 weeks and they wouldn't induce.  I'm wondering if that would change now that it's been 7 years since giving birth to DS.

@marebear15 any word yet on the results of your DD's ekg?!

  • @spacemountaineer, I did get it all done! I hope you can find a doctor willing to let you try for a VBAC. MY doctor was so supportive, he was going on and on about how I could vbac, while he was telling me I needed a csection!
I understand about watching and trying to avoid certain due dates, dh wants to take a 3 month break to avoid parts of winter and our kids birthdays (just general busyness).  I haven’t agreed, mostly because I am sick of ttc.  But our age gap is already crap, so who cares at this point.
  • @holly321 I am sorry for your rough week! I hope your son feels better soon and you can eventually get a little rest.

@kpearse99 That is so great that you found someone in your neighborhood to have playdates with!

@spacemountaineer I totally get what you are saying about trying to plan TTC around certain due dates- especially if you have certain things you want to have done like a VBAC.

@mercury94 Spontaneous trips are so fun- I am glad you and DS had a fun time together.

@kbrown2385 That museum sounds amazing! I wish we had something like that near us!

@justkeepswimming8 I am sorry for your photographer bailing on you! :( I remember when my DD was pebbles with the little pony tail on the top of her head- she became much less cooperative with me doing her hair after awhile so I just bit the bullet and starting cutting her bangs.

@lcking82 That is so cute that your daughter helped you clean around the house! That is a funny story about the subway pole- my mom always tells me the story of when I was a kid and ran around licking buildings around downtown Chicago! haha

@ruby696 Wow that is a difficult situation with your DS not getting along with a classmate. I hope with your guidance he can learn to be the bigger person also and turn the other cheek even with others don't always treat you the best.

  • @spacemountaineer My kids are 18 months apart and my doctor told me that was the cutoff for a VBAC.  I was able to have a successful VBAC with no issues, but they would have made me do a c-section if it had been any earlier.  My doctor likes to see a couple years between birth and subsequent pregnancy, and she often joked that one of the reasons I got so big so early was because I'd had DS like "ten minutes ago."  I can tell you anecdotally that having two that close together was pretty hard on my body.  This gap will be almost four years, which seems huge to me.
  • @spacemountaineer My OB didn’t really say anything about how long to wait. She asked me if I wanted another when he was 6 months old. Google told me to wait at least 18 months, but it is frequently wrong.

  • @holly321 I'm glad you didn't have to go to the ER! Hope his sickness is gone for good!

@spartanrd4 DD's phases of preferring DH make me so sad! I'm glad you'll get some time with her while your H is away.

@justkeepswimming8 I love the top of the head ponytails! I never do them though because I'm scared I'm pulling her hair! lol

@lcking82 I love that your daughter was helping you out! DD has a fascination with the dishwasher and now will hand me silverware. It makes unloading the dishwasher take longer, but I also don't have to bend down as far, so that's a win! Lol.

@kpearse99 That really is the goal! I really need parent friends, I'd love if the perfect ones would just find me like that!

@ruby696 I hope you can get through to your DS. That's definitely a tough one.

@kbrown2385 *Googles living museum near me* Haha, that sounds like so much fun!

@mercury94 I can relate to your "thoughts about this cycle" so much (from last time and probably from later this time; still NTNP for now). And occasional ice cream is sooo worth it!

@spacemountaineer My DD was born 12/28! Lol. For me it's not a big deal, but now I'm entering the territory of if I were to get pregnant now-ish, I'd have ANOTHER December baby and as much as I would be happy to be pregnant, I think I hope more that I get my period (meaning I'm O'ing on my own! Any thoughts about this cycle? I've had a lot more CM recently and some of it seemed like possible EWCM. I'm trying not to get my hopes up though, but O'ing on my own would be exciting!

Rant/Rave/Brag: Rave: The weather has been great lately. Also I still nurse DD like twice a day but would like to wean, and my boobs seem smaller and DD seems like she's not getting much, especially from my underproducing side. So I'm kind of glad I may be drying up, I hope it will make weaning easier (it's hard for me to say no when I know she wants to nurse!).

GTKY: What's the most disgusting thing your kid(s) has ever done? She's a serial bath-pooer. If it's bath night and she hasn't pooped all day, I'll just postpone the bath until the next day unless she really needs it. To me blowouts are grosser though. The bath pooping is just annoying having to disinfect everything! Lol.

@ickling82 – sorry you are already feeling pessimistic. I can’t wait until my DD is old enough to help out around the house – right now she just makes a ton of messes.

@kpearse99 – sorry you are feeling defeated this month. That’s so awesome you made a mom friend!

@ruby696 – yeah DH and I talked and he still wants to go with this girl because she’s his friend so we’ll just be doing them late unfortunately. I’m bummed to not have them for the party but what can you do. That’s a rough parenting position to be in. I hope that you can show him the good balance between sticking up for himself while still being kind.

@holly321 – one week of throwing up before they’ll see you?! No way! I hope he feels better really soon and I'm glad that you don’t have to go to the ER (hopefully it stays that way!).

@kbrown2385 – I’m pissed for you about your photog! At least ours gave us a week notice. We are just going to push it a few weeks. That’s great that you had a fun time at the living museum.

@mercury94 – Yum ice cream! Your favorite ice cream is always worth a break in diet. I’m glad y’all had a good spontaneous trip.

@spacemountaineer – sorry about bad due date timing for this upcoming cycle. I haven’t read the (edit) March April Randoms thread yet and don’t have much insight into VBACs and I had a vaginal but I asked my OB at my 6 week appointment and she said 1 year (didn’t wait but didn’t matter either) or I’d be considered high risk.

@MJDsquared – yay for EWCM and FX for Oing on your own!

AFM, I just reactivated my fertility friend account so I’m pretty disappointed right now. Another 10-day LP. UGH! This one stung a little more than I expected even though I've been feeling out for the last couple of days. Then comes to find out I only have 57 days left even though I only used 55ish days of my 1-year membership before I paused it. I messaged them but I’m even more annoyed now.

  • @holly321 I hope your DS is feeling better and I’m glad you stayed out of the ER. That nurse is crazy though. I think you win the prize for grossest story. I also hope you get some sleep tonight.

@Spartanrd4 I am in my busy time at work right now and DD is definitely Daddy’s buddy lately so I can relate. We usually take a nap together on Sundays and that wins her back, so I’m sure you will make it up while your DH is gone this week.

@justkeepswimming8 I vote find someone else to take the pictures so you can have them for the party. Do you have a local mom Facebook group? People post in mine all the time “any photographers have availability tomorrow?” And they always get a response.

@lcking82 any chore is better when DD “helps” so that is so sweet. I love your reaction to your DD licking the subway pole, there’s only so much you can stop!

@kpearse99 That’s so great for your DS that he will have a friend in the neighborhood. Even better that you click with the parents!

@ruby696 your pigeon story! yuck! Also I know you said you are at a loss to get him to understand how to treat others with kindness but it sounds like you are totally on top of it.

@kbrown2385 your gtky cracked me up. Things seem so much more gross in theory than when they actually happen

@mercury94 it sounds like you guys had a great mini getaway. I bet your DS loved the ice cream shop too!

@spacemountaineer my doctor gave me no guidance on when we could or should have another baby. She said we could start having sex at my 6 week post partum appointment and asked if I wanted birth control and that was it.

@MJDsquared I give you a lot of credit for still breastfeeding (and anyone else who is still BF too). I pumped for over a year but felt like I could do that at my convenience so it wasn’t as hard.

Any thoughts about this cycle? Today is CD 3 :( I had a work happy hour on Friday so I tested and knew it was coming but it still sucks. For the next 3 cycles I will have a due date that won’t be great for work purposes but I don’t know if I can TTA. Ugh.

    Any questions?

Rant/Rave/Brag: DD is sick (bronchiolitis for the 85th time) and I had to go out of town for work. DH is more than fine to handle it on his own but I just feel like a crappy mom.

GTKY: I think we have been pretty lucky with this so far but I’m sure our time is coming. Pooping while her diaper is open is probably the worst so far, I don’t need to actually watch it coming out!

  • @ruby696:  I think it sound like you’re doing s great job, momma.
  • @MJDsquared I’m sorry the struggle sounds familiar. It’s less than fun to be this old and so confused about my cycle. Like I’ve had a kid before, it should just work in a way that makes some sense. I hope you’re able to O naturally.

  • @spacemountaineer I’ve also read it’s best to wait 18 months before TTC a second because it takes a woman’s body that long to restore all the nutrients and things it needs for a healthy pregnancy. That being said I know tons of women who have healthy children without waiting even a year between.

@lcking82 I can go back through some of the old threads, but wondering if your O date was the same between letrozole cycles?

@MJDsquared O-ing on your own would be very exciting!

@mercury94 the spontaneous trip sounds really fun.

Any thoughts about this cycle? I've gotten sick this cycle and had a fever so my temps are not at all reliable. FF would have said I O'd three days ago. (which would have been CD 14 and totally fine with me, but no way)

Any questions? I've just been recording but discarding temps that are illness related. Does that seem correct?

Rant/Rave/Brag: DH and I had our first night away from DS and we had a great time. Definitely need to try and do that more often.

GTKY: What's the most disgusting thing your kid(s) has ever done? Once DS had a blow out diaper in his crib and rolled around in it so much that when he stood up he smeared it all over the crib bars, on his feet, hands, stomach, etc. Disgusting.

  • @flinstone-2 - That’s what I would do too with the temps. I think there is an option for illness in the specifics section but I don’t think it does anything to your chart except be a reminder as to why you discarded.

@MJDsquared Hope weaning goes okay for you- my DD started self weaning herself around 11 months so I can see how it could be difficult when LO still wants to nurse!

@bows22 Hope DD feels better and sorry about AF :(

@flinstone-2 I am glad you and YH had a good time away!!

@mercury94 Thanks!! Super excited about the Final Four!! Go Green!!
  • @flinstone-2 so great that you two got away for a night!  Def. need to make that happen more often - it's so good for you as a couple!!

@MJDsquared FX for you that you O on your own and that weaning goes smoothly!  You got this, mama!

@bows22 Poor DD and poor you!!  It's no fun when our littles are sick.. DS has allergies and gets hit with them pretty hard every time the weather gets nice and then drops back down in temp.  It feels like he gets a week of healthiness in and then he's back to feeling awful.

@justkeepswimming8 I hope you get everything sorted out with the app!

  • @marebear15 that’s great news about the test results! We didn’t do a railing with ds. I put a pool noodle under the sheet on the edge of the bed. It worked well but I eventually pulled it out. DS has no issues and it was a smooth transition.
  • @marebear15 YAY!! I’m so happy you’ve got some good news!! I’ve been wondering and hoping. Oh, man, that’s great!!

@kbrown2385 that pool noodle idea is clever! I may end up borrowing it! We haven’t had a need to kick dd out of the crib, so I just keep putting off the next steps, but it’s great to be armed with ideas for when it happens.

@flinstone-2:  NOT AT ALL!  Ha!  Before letrozole, I would O between day 18-26, if at all (about every third month was anovulatory).  When we were trying for DD, we did Clomid, which never made me O, but the Letrozole has been working so far (this is my second medicated cycle); last cycle O was day 15, this cycle it looks like day 14.

Another observation, before Letrozole I would sometimes get a positive OPK but then not ovulate, and my OPKs always had at least a moderate intensity test line.  Now, the test line is very very faint, and then darkens up pretty quickly (like 24-36 hour time frame) when it turns positive.

Edit to clarify:  I did Letrozole last cycle and this cycle, so I haven't had an "off" cycle between to know what it would look like.
  • @marebear15:  I'm so happy to hear the good news about your daughter.  What a relief for you!

As for the bed situation - my 2.5y/o is on an Ikea twin bed with a pull out trundle (that we keep out for now as a soft landing spot).  We have a toddler rail, too, but she's fallen out a few times even with the rail in place (ours has a gap near the head that somehow she has tossed/turned herself through - rough sleeper).  She fell out once without the trundle, and it was pretty scary.  Now, if she falls out on the trundle, she doesn't even wake up!!
  • @marebear15 oh thank goodness for the good news!  I've been holding my breath for you!
As for the toddler rail - we used one.  DS moved (still moves) around so much that it was helpful for him.  We really were so very lucky with his transitions, I think we did converted the crib to the toddler rail when he was 3 or maybe even closer to 4! And then a big boy bed when he was 5.

  • @kbrown2385 - Ooh, I like the pool noodle idea! Maybe if she falls out of that, we could move to a toddler rail, but they are so pricey!
