Missed you ladies and your motivation! We got back from our vacation in London on Wednesday. I did a lotttttt of walking, and honestly besides some foot soreness and a little bit of swelling, I felt great. I think all the moving around helped my energy level more than sitting in a desk chair all day.
Next week my goal is to get in one yoga class, one orangetheory class, and one long walk. The weather is getting warmer here, so it's perfect for some walking outside!
@heml, how was London?! Were You able to go to any of the places I suggested?
It is so nice out now! We had 2 terrible weeks of rain and it is finally sunny. It is 17 today (Celsius - I don’t know Fahrenheit lol). I will be taking my dog for a long walk to the park.
Ive been getting in 3 barre classes a week and it is great. I do 2 pregnancy ones so it’s easier and 1 normal one which kicks my butt. 5-6 KMs of walking per day this week. It’s A great part of my self care and I am definitely making time to go. Next week I have exams and no classes so I am aiming for 4 barre classes and lots of outside walks.
@heml - so glad to hear that your trip went well and that you were feeling good. Had you been to London before, or was this your first time?
@AKuzReve - It's great that you're able to get in that much walking per day! It's supposed to be warmer here on Sunday, so I plan on taking my dog for a long walk then
This week started out good with a 10K on Sunday. Then I'm not sure what happened, but I feel like I ballooned overnight on Wednesday - I feel and look bigger, where it's uncomfortable to keep my coat zipped up. I managed to run 2 mi yesterday and then 4 mi today at much slower paces. The reality that I may need to stop running earlier is kind of sad, but certainly not as bad as I expected it to be. @AKuzReve - I'm thinking about trying a barre class!
I don’t normally post here bc I have been a big lazy a** this pregnancy. Between our huge move and my broken ankle at the beginning I’ve just been out of routine, but we are finally joining a gym which I’m hoping will be motivation to go a few times a week! I exercised about 4 days a week with my second pregnancy and the whole thing was so much smoother than my first so I’m really going to make an effort to get going now that I’m in the second half.
i didn’t get a run in last week. I’ve been only running with my friends since I tend to automatically push myself hard when I run alone and I know I shouldn’t do that now. But all of my friends were out of town for the beginning of spring break. I do have a 10k tomorrow though.
@purplg8r I would say my ankle is ‘good’. My break was really bad, 3 fractures, torn muscles and ligaments, which led to a lengthy surgery and more hardware holding it together than I like to think about. Due to the severity I was told that it may be up to 2 years until I feel it’s mostly back to normal but will likely bother me some my entire life. I’m about 6 months out right now and can walk well on it although I have a limit of about 2 miles or so before it starts getting sore. I also still limp going down stairs as my mobility to extend over my foot is limited and if I’m off of it for more than 30 minutes it stiffens up (which is fun when I’m peeing 4-5 times a night and limp to the bathroom). But I’m walking more or less pain free and will never take that for granted again! After not being able to put weight on it at all for 2 months and another 2 months of PT and crutches in a huge cast boot to work up my strength just being in shoes feels pretty awesome.
@olivemomma Dannnnng. Wait, when did this surgery happen?
@heml The warmer weather does help a lot. Welcome back
Afm; I finally was able to get back on the exercise bike after a verrrrrrrrry long almost 2.5 weeks with a cold. Whoever said the immune system gets weakened during pregnancy wasn't kidding. There is stilllll some mild congestion! It feels good to be able to do cardio again the past two days and excited to start using my exercise ball again tonight. I'm actually finding that ordering a coupe of weights won't be necessary because my arms are strengthening nicely with lifting things around the house or whatever. You know, it's amazing how muscle memory works and so quickly. All of that athleticism growing up must be paying off. Have a nice weekend ladies!
People think we become mothers when we give birth but the truth is we become mothers the moment we start calling our babies to us in our thoughts, dreams and prayers. Some paths are short and some are so long that you can easily forget where you were headed.

@sw1122, it's easy to walk a lot when you only walk and don't have a car haha. I also so highly recommend a barre class. My legs and arms feel so strong and I think all the booty and leg work is good for birth.
@purplg8r How was the 10K?? The Churchill War Rooms were really interesting and crazy to view. Of course, all of the parks/gardens and daffodils were wonderful. Oh, and I loved having afternoon tea.
@olivemomma Yay for joining a new gym!!! Definitely start hanging out in here for motivation! I swear reading everyone’s workouts and goals for the week helps motivate me to get off my booty.
@AKuzReve I had all of the Indian places you recommended on my list and didn’t make it to any of them. We had a great time on the trip but I just wish it had been just MH and I and not us and his two family members that joined us. They weren’t great with all the walking (when a lady 5 months pregnant can out walk you, that’s a problem) and weren’t interested in adventurous cuisine. I was supremely disappointed with our cuisine choices there. I saved all your recs so that I’ll have them for next time!
@AKuzReve barre classes sound fun!!! I only tried it once and I don’t know if I could do it with this belly now!
I usually do CrossFit 4-5 times a week. I found that the second trimester it’s been a lot easier to stay active buuut I have to modify movements more (no ab work & being extra careful to not feel pulling or tugging on the ab area). I have been enjoying staying active but it’s been hard to not be as competitive in the box (I hate losing lol)!!!
@crossfitmomtobe I’ve had trouble being frustrated with myself for not being able to “do” stuff or getting tired more easily. What are your fav ab modifications?
@purplg8r - sorry for the late response. It’s still chilly where I live, so I’ve been wearing leggings. When it does get warmer, I think I’ll just try wearing my regular shorts with a band and see how comfortable/uncomfortable that is. Is there a brand you recommend?
@heml yeah, it can be frustrating. I have subbed in Russian kb swings (eye height rather than full range of motion) & ball slams for ab movements in our WODs!

@sw1122 have you found any good maternity running shorts or skirts?
