@cmbt2 I was just going to say, you’re building a new house.  It is definitely a new home builder thing (I work for one).  😊However, here in Texas we have actually sf (includes garage) and marketing sf (living space only).

This is my thinking to- our house was part of phase 1 for the house part of the development, so I’m thinking it was his realtor’s way to get people in. Our house also never officially went on the market before we closed so I have no idea if he’d have revised the numbers for marketing sq ft 🤷🏼‍♀️

They probably won’t.  It is definitely a sales ploy.  The only real issue can be the appraisal but since you’ve already closed obviously there wasn’t a problem.  Hope you’re loving your new home!!

Appraisal didn’t have any issues that i‘m aware of
🤷🏼‍♀️ They got all the dimensions and upgrades as we went, so it was really just a formality (we had mortgage approval before we even got the architect’s renderings). With taxes, they have the floor plans and dimensions, so the assessment will be based on that since the builder doesn’t allow them for an inside look.

Having a house is nice! No more hags below us. No elephants upstairs. I don’t have to yell at the kids for being too loud. Downside is we now don’t have maintenance on call 24/7 🙈

we had an issue with some vents not working (thank you, warranty). Without thinking, told the builder to just let the contractor in when they got there. Builder was all confused and went “and how do I do that?” Can you tell I’ve lived in apartments the last 9 years 😂😪

  • I know it's not Friday, but I can't wait that long to confess how much I hate pickles. As a pregnant woman am I required to eat them now? Because I honestly can't imagine doing it on purpose.

  • @elle-0409 I’m pretty sure eating a deep fried pickle started my labor with my son so it’s not required but if you get desperate to start labor you may want to try it 😆

Haha. No. I only eat half sours. I don’t eat dill pickles

I don't mind pickles on their own (or fried, yum!), but they seem like such a WEIRD choice to put on sandwiches or burgers. Do not want that flavor profile on my sandwich. No thank you.
  • Of course, now that I've said I hate pickles, I bet that's the thing I end up craving the most. :D

  • I feel like I’m the only person on the planet who likes sweet pickles, my mom ate them her whole pregnancy with me. I do not like regular pickles though and I agree @galentine , I just feel like they take over the whole flavor of a sandwich! Same with olives, I can’t taste anything but olives if they are on anything.

Haha you and my husband would agree 😆 that’s how he taints his food to make sure I don’t take a bite 🙄
  • @Schumerator bread and butter pickles? Because I LOVE them! I can tolerate the dill on occasion. But I can eat the B&B ones by the jar full!
  • Pickles are the best! I will eat all kinds, including the sweet. Yummmmm
  • @elle-0409 my husband would totally agree with you, he HATES all things pickles (except for 1000 island dressing???).  However, I love them!  All the pickles!!  I actually just bought a jar for lunch and might go grab one to snack on right now.
  • In addition to eating pickles (dill only) just bc I love them, I’ve found that a lot of times if I’m nauseous but need to eat and food sounds terrible, pickles will settle my stomach  🤷🏼‍♀️

It’s funny the things that settle our stomachs- mine is hot sauce!

Ditto! I've unfortunately found that the dill pickles help a bit with my nausea, but I really don't even like them. Now bread and butter pickles and gherkins? Yes, please!

Same with olives, I can’t taste anything but olives if they are on anything.
Olives are disgusting. The only time I don't mind them as much is when they are teeny tiny and chopped up on, say, a pizza. But even then, I'd be so much happier if they weren't there.

I’m with ya! Olives are delicious, all kinds. Though to be fair, my husband says that I like all food and can’t be trusted when I say something is good, so 🤷🏻‍♀️
  • Give me all the dill and sweet gerkings!!! I also love pickles on burgers and breeds pork tenderloins I but not deli type sandwiches. Can’t stand bread and butter pickles or olives-any way shape or form.

  • We had burgers for dinner. I ate a few too many b&b pickles...and I kind of want a few more...

I also love olives. In fact I may have some on my celery w/cream cheese tomorrow....
  • Love olives and pickles! In fact a jar of sliced dills was one of the first things I picked up when I found out I was pregnant, though I eat them all the time. I'm the person at the table everyone gives them to when they don't want theirs. I even chop up gherkins for my tuna and chicken salads. The only ones that I don't get are the bread & butter pickles. They confuse my taste buds 🤷‍♀️

UO: I don't like when people show me pictures of their grandkids, kids, cats, dogs, etc. And I don't like to show pictures in return.

I'm not at overly private person or anything. I think it stems from my dislike of people pulling out their phones in conversation. Regardless, UO!!!!
  • cmbt2 said:
Oh, oh, oh- I have an UO (yes, I know it’s Sunday). I don’t think using square footage only is an adequate way to define a “large” house.

Everyone thinks my house is “large” based on the fact that it’s 2200 sq ft. That includes the 400+ sq ft that is the attached 2 car garage. When you take that out, it’s less than 1800 sq ft of useable living space. To me, a large house would have at least 2200 sq ft of living space alone.

    Come at me, bro
Currently house hunting, and I have literally never heard of a garage counted as square footage. That makes no sense and I would be pissed if a house listing I was viewing included garage sq footage as livable space.

But I also would never call a 2200 sq foot house 'large'. Lol. To me, a large house is like at least 3000 sq ft, maybe more.

  • So, not really an uo or fffc, but piggybacking on the pickle discussion:
One of my favorite things to make is a riff on tomatoes and mozarella.
I do thinly sliced baguette as a base, and toast it with olive oil in the oven. Then I put a slice of pickled beet, a slice of mozarella, basil, and sprinkle balsamic.

    YUM

  • @wintersong that sounds delicious!!!  I may have to give it a try!
  • @wintersong that sounds really good! I love pickled beets and have paired them with goat cheese, but never tried with mozzarella. Yum!
