I just took a test which came out positive. My husband is freaking out and making me very nervous because I have been drinking all week (I’ve been trying- but truly didn’t think I was pregnant!). Should I be very concerned? He said that he can’t even be excited until he knows everything is ok 😢
Unless you’ve been getting positively piss puking blackout drunk and doing lines of cocaine, you’re fine. Baby isn’t hooked into your bloodstream until around 8 weeks.

I always heard drink til it’s pink. Had most of a bottle of champagne the day before we got our positive (it was the super bowl), and baby is here and okay! Talk to your doc if you’re that nervous, though!
Unless you were so drunk that your organs started shutting down, you are fine. Baby isn't sharing your blood or intake yet as the placenta is still growing and isn't yet active.
@Bear14+ that is a useful article at the beginning but I take issue with it claiming that morning sickness exists so that you won't want to put toxins in your body? I've never heard a shred of scientific evidence to back up that theory and it's pretty well known that morning sickness is just your body's reaction to the change in hormones, which is why it varies from person to person. I never had MS with any of my 3 pregnancies, so how would this article explain that?? Is it because I'm just super strong willed and could avoid alcohol easily without it? Is it because it would totally be cool for me to drink while pregnant? The answer to both of those questions is no.
I think it's dangerous to essentially tell a pregnant woman that as long as something doesn't make her nauseous it it probably cool to eat/drink it. That is completely untrue.
That said, the part about drinking before you know you're pregnant in there is accurate.
@delujm0https://www.livescience.com/2531-morning-sickness-revealed.html I just did a quick Google search and this is the first and latest article. I know it's a change in hormones, but I'd take the opinion of a doctor and trained professionals that there is some sort of body defense mechanism in place... even if not all people experience it.
"Morning sickness is not normal, so it must have a reason. Researchers now think it's Nature's way of protecting the embryo or fetus by discouraging mothers from ingesting potentially harmful chemicals."

Except it also discourages mothers from ingesting ANYTHING.

I’m sure the HG crowd is so thankful that morning sickness just knows that what they really need is hospitalization & makes it happen for them. Minimal initial research doesn’t make for an accurate scientific conclusion that people should base their behavior on.
And @DaniMat it’s kinda crappy that your husband is putting this guilt trip on you. I hope he gets it together, gets excited, and doesn’t attempt to excessively boss what you eat and do all pregnancy. Millions and millions of healthy babies have been born to people who drank before they knew they were pregnant.
Edit: swapping in correct word

I got pretty drunk the night before my bfp with DS. My temp had dropped below coverline, and I was sure AF was on the way. I took a test when my temp was sky high the next morning. He is now 5, and very healthy. I hope that helps reassure you.
