@alliem89az, @ACAC25, @Tulips29 thank you for the support. I will need all the strength/suppprt I can get to start this process all over again. I only had one viable egg, so I need more eggs before trying again. Good luck to you!!!
@Tulips29 lol thank you! I’m finally feeling human again. @sue2019 I am so very sorry about your beta results. I can’t imagine how that must feel, I’ll be thinking of you.
thanks for the protocol info @k_mama91 and @Tulips29, also 17 is amazing! Hope you get good news today!
Today is day 3 of stims, not feeling too bad, my tummy is sore and I'm starting to feel really tired. Other than that okay so far. Looking forward to my next ultrasound/labs on Thursday to see how things are progressing.
Does anyone else have a long drive to their clinic? Mine is 2.5 hrs one way.
Thank you, ladies! Just got the call that out of 17, only 10 made it to day 6 and into blastocysts and are now going through PGS. I'm happy it's more than last time (4 out of 19 made it last time), but also nervous as I wait for results now. These 3 weeks will be a drag.
@alliem89az wow, 2.5 hours is quite the drive! My clinic is on the way to work, luckily. So I commute from suburbs into the city to the clinic for about 50-60 mins, then another 20 mins to work. I'm also thankful that their monitoring hours are really early from 6:30-8:30, so I don't have to be late to work.

@ACAC25 yayy! I'm hoping my period arrives this week so I can get started as well! Getting anxious and ready to go haha
@tulips29 17 fertilized is great! Fingers crossed you have lots of embryos to send off today!!
@alliem89az I'm not totally certain what my exact protocol will be this time around, but I do know it's a sh*t ton of medications lol - I am not the norm though... **TW** I had two chemical pregnancies last year for my first round of IVF so they have me on a really intense immune protocol this time. But I will share once I get started!
@alliem89az wow 2.5 hrs is really far. I'm lucky my clinic is only about 30 mins away from my house.
@Tulips29 10 made it to blastocysts! That's awesome!! Hoping for some good and speedy news about your PGS results. How long does that usually take?
@ellemarie7 unfortunately we wont be cycle buddies. I saw my doctor today I have a bunch of follicles 15-20 but some are bigger and hes concerned the stims wont work well so I'm doing what they call a long cycle. Its 17 days of BC then start lupron kit, 2 more days of BC then AF will come 3 days later and start stims the next day. I am really upset and frustrated. I dont want to wait. But he thinks this will give us a better chance of success.... making my follicles more even and hopefully increase egg quality. We are dealing with low sperm count and morphology as well as low/granular egg quality. So still on metformin and exercise regime for the next month. 🙁
I will keep monitoring on this board and join April IVF board when it starts up.
@Tulips29 that’s so awesome about 10 blastocysts!! Yay! Yah it all seems so random about how many follicles vs eggs vs early embryos vs blastocysts- I literally had 7-8 mature sized follicles at trigger and ended up w 6 blastocysts somehow. I actually didn’t do PGS bc I assumed I’d only get 1 or 2 blastocysts! Hope you get lots of good PGS embies
@ACAC25 Thanks! Usually 2 weeks for results, but they are telling me could take up to 3 now because the lab is so backed up. Don't they know how much it sucks to wait! I also feel like I'm constantly waiting, so I hear you on not wanting to do so. But if your RE thinks you'l have better results/higher success rates with the current protocol, then I would trust they know what they are doing. In the end, it's the end result that truly matters.
@somewhereinnyc Thank you! I'm also confused on follicles vs egg quantity. When I asked, my RE said each follicle represents 1 egg, but the day before trigger I think I had like 10 good follicles? Then all of a sudden they got 21 eggs. Not complaining, just super curious about this whole process and the science behind it.

@ACAC25 ughhhhhh - i'm sorry Delays are the freaking worst. I know it's not what you wanted to hear at all, but sounds like it's going to give you stronger odds at a better outcome. I'll be doing an FET probably end of April/early May so if you do a fresh then maybe we can just become transfer buddies then!
@alliem89az My clinic is 2 hours or 3 hours for the main office, so I get it! Long drive but worth it.
So I started my injections this morning. They told me it wasn't going to hurt at all but it definitely did. More hurt when I injected the menopur into my system than the poke did.....super annoying because it stung for over an hour afterward. Any advice or insight on what to expect for the next week that I have to do this?
@ktrabing Menopur is the worst. The worst. I wish I had words of wisdom, but unfortunately it just is what it is and burns like a mofo.
I finally got the all clear and will be starting stims Thursday. Feeling ALL the things right now.

@alliem89az That's a long commute! Hopefully you have lots to keep yourself busy in the car. Our clinic is about 10-15 minutes from my office and about 20-25 from home pending traffic.
I had my first round of u/s and labs today. Still waiting on the labs to come back but I have 45 follicles! I'm hoping this leads to lots of good things and not OHSS. Next appointment is on Friday morning!
@ktrabing menopur does sting. For me, I found the area and angle at which I injected helped slightly with the burn. It would burn more if I injected above/to the side of the belly and sting less or not even sting if I injected either directly to the side or below/to the side. Also, injecting straight on hurt more than injecting at a 45 degree angle. If all else failed, I literally held my breath until the entire mixture was injected lol. If your protocol includes cetrotide, that one actually doesn't sting when injected, but it itches like crazy after. I found myself with a rash-looking patch of skin that was super itchy for like an hour after the injection. I'd take that over the stinging menopur though.
@ashorkey whoa to 45 follicles! Fx for lots of good eggs!

Yeah to be honest we are super bummed and I feel guilty because it's my body not being ready that is causing the delay. I know it's the right thing to do and I'm trying to stay positive but this delay sucks so much. And it means I most likely wont have a baby this year 😞 and to make matters worse I just found out on Sunday that two of my friends are pregnant. I know you all understand but I just hate that this had to happen to us. I'll be thankful when my parents arrive next week for a distraction.
@ktrabing I found it hit and miss whether the menopur stung or not. Try to give yourself a good 2 fingers distance from your last injection to inject the next. I found that helped. But like @Tulips29 said I mostly just held my breath until it was done. I also had swelling, itchiness and discomfort from the Cetrotide too. But I dont think I will be on it this time.
@ktrabing I didn’t do Menopur but I agree with the other cetrotide complaints, super itchy and welped up afterwards! @ashorkey wow 45 follicles is great! FX that means great eggs and no OHSS! AFM my ET went perfect this morning and they said our embryos looked great. I’m hoping they were being honest and don’t just tell everyone that lol. Beta is set for a week from Thursday, these next two weeks are going to be torture!
Thanks, ladies! when I heard the number I actually blurted out asking if that was bad. They were pretty reassuring that it wasn't and all looked good... FX!

@ktrabing I'm glad I'm not the only person crazy enough to drive that far for IVF! haha. There isn't a clinic where I live so it was really the only option, but I think it does make the process a lot bigger deal. I've had to take off almost the whole stim period from work because it takes the whole work day to get to the clinic and back. You're right, will be totally worth it!
Menopur is hard for me too, I agree with @Tulips29 that the lower side of the belly stings the least. My IVF nurse suggested to mix it and let it sit for about 5 minutes before injecting to help with the stinging, but it still stings quite a bit. I sort of dread doing it but then I have a cookie afterwards and that helps
@ashorkey 45 is great! FX for everything to go super smooth for you! I had 26 total but 17 big enough to measure at my day 6 ultrasound.
@lovemygs congrats on starting stims, hope everything goes well for you!
@ACAC25 sorry to hear about the delay, I understand its so hard seeing everyone else get pregnant, it feels like everyone I know is either pregnant or has a baby right now.
@k_mama91 FX for a BFP! waiting is so hard, but it'll be here before you know it!
AFM my day 6 ultrasound and labs went well, they said I have a good amount of follicles but its early and they are growing slow (which hopefully is a good thing because we want them to be mature?) Looking at a day 12-16 ER for now. Going back Monday for another check.
Hi Ladies! Well, I just got my period yesterday, kind of late. So that pushes me into an April IVF! I will start stimming this week and my retrieval will most likely be the second week of April. I'm going to hop off here, but will check up on ya'lls progress GL to everybody!
Hi lovely ladies! Looks like this is a great place for encouragement. My first IVF at 40. Never been pregnant. We did ICSI and only retrieved 4 eggs, 2 of which were mature. One fertilized and made it to day 5 blastocyst. I’m just waiting for pgs results back by March 30. Fingers crossed this single blastocyst is normal!
@40ivf I am dreading the PGS results wait time! It has to be just as hard as the TWW. Wishing you the best!

My ultrasound lady told me today maybe one more checkup and we should be looking at the trigger shot! I'm so over this process, just dont feel like myself since I've been starting the meds. Can't wait to go into ER and see how many viable eggs we have! Right now I have 18-19 follicles that are growing, had a couple at 19mm and 16 mm this morning. Should be in the next day or 2 for the trigger.
@ktrabing I totally know what you mean. What I did IVF in January I basically didnt feel myself from stims day 1 until about 1 week after a negative beta. The hormones turned me into an emotional mess with mood swings. Not looking forward to that again. Hoping you get your trigger soon!
@ACAC25 Its just so hard because I hate to complain about it due to WHY I feel so off, but its hard to feel off. I've still been working out at the same intensity and in the same amounts, but its hard to make myself go sometimes. I've started having that super full uterus feeling this afternoon, which is weird, but also normal I think...
@ktrabing I totally understand. Sometimes I hate complaining about how shitty the meds and IVF process make me feel because I'm choosing to do it to get what I want. But it's hard because it doesn't discount the pain, emotional yo yo and discomfort we go through on a daily basis. I hated when people would say to me you gotta do what you gotta do, or itll be worth it or this is what you need for a baby. Like... I know that... otherwise I wouldn't do it. Anyways... I totally get it. Lol I hated that full feeling. My doctor said it was normal and expected but I felt like it made me waddle like a duck!
hope everyone is doing well. I had my first fresh transfer last week, have my beta on Friday, hoping for the best. I swear I am over-analyzing every symptom, which can just be the progesterone. So nervous for Friday. Any advice is much appreciated.
@Knottie1464178146 Let us know about your beta!! Praying for a postive result!
Ladiessss, I have my ER tomorrow morning! I finished my last Lupron shot this morning and I'm soooo bloated today its uncomfortable to go for my runs and I cant button my jeans up comfortably today My boobs hurt so bad I had a hard time sleeping last night....anyone else experience these symptoms too??
welcome @40ivf! @ktrabing and @ACAC25 I also had pretty bad symptoms towards the end of stims and felt like I was waddling, haha. It hasn't gone away yet actually if anything I feel more bloated the day after ER. It is hard to talk about symptoms because I don't want to feel like I'm just whining, but I also feel terrible. Its nice to have these boards to talk with other people that have the same symptoms/situation going on.
I had my ER yesterday and everything went well, got 17 eggs, today found out that 13 were mature and 13 fertilized, so we were pretty excited about that! We're planning a fresh transfer on Tuesday!
@ktrabing thanks fro your hope and prayer, I'm praying and wishing you the best with your ER. Sadly my beta was negative. Definitely upsetting and heart breaking. Will meet with my Dr. before starting the next cycle for FET. Would definitely welcome some advice.
So my ER went well. Had 17 eggs retrieved and 10 fertilized. We had 8 make it through the first night so we are waiting to hear on Wednesday how many made it to day 5 for PGS testing! Crazy, we have babies growing....Now I have a 2 month wait before my FET....seems like forever!
@Knottie1464178146 I'm so sorry to hear about your negative beta. Its so heartbreaking!

Side note....anyone been really tender for days after their ER? I didnt think it would be a thing but I had mine done on Friday and here it is Monday and I'm still sore....like I'm not sure I can go for my run today (which is super annoying)....anywhoo, anyone else experience this?
@ktrabing great numbers and fx all of them make it to wednesday for pgs testing! I was super sore and in a lot of pain after my first retrieval. I later realized I was overstimulated and developed OHSS. It was super painful. The 2nd and 3rd retrievals I was just sore for a few days, but I could do my daily activities. I'm not a runner, so not sure there. I hope you're able to get back to normal soon!

@ktrabing my ER was Thursday the 14th and on ET day Tuesday the 19th I wasn’t still so tender and waddling! Don’t push yourself, and like @Tulips29 mentioned OHSS can happen so I was weighing myself and guzzling Gatorade to try and monitor that. GL!
@ktrabing i was told no running once I started stims due to the high risk of ovarian torsion (big, heavy ovaries are easy to twist). I’m surprised your clinic hasn’t told you to avoid activities like running that can cause torsion. I wasn’t cleared to run again until 3 weeks post ER. (That’s is when they felt my ovaries were “back to normal”)

@ashorkey wow!! 45 follicles is awesome!!
@k_mama91 woohoo! hang in there for the next while and FX for you!

I hated that full feeling. My doctor said it was normal and expected but I felt like it made me waddle like a duck!
Ladiessss, I have my ER tomorrow morning! I finished my last Lupron shot this morning and I'm soooo bloated today its uncomfortable to go for my runs and I cant button my jeans up comfortably today
I had my ER yesterday and everything went well, got 17 eggs, today found out that 13 were mature and 13 fertilized, so we were pretty excited about that! We're planning a fresh transfer on Tuesday!
Sadly my beta was negative. Definitely upsetting and heart breaking. Will meet with my Dr. before starting the next cycle for FET. Would definitely welcome some advice.
@Knottie1464178146 I'm so sorry to hear about your negative beta. Its so heartbreaking!
