I tried the stick on heart shaped ones that change color.. couldn't read that thing to save my life. I thought it was going to be like the british stuff that you press on your forehead but these were way too hard to read.
LO hates the armpit ones and my Pedi said each armpit is a diff temp.. DOH so that didn't help any.
I tried the roller ones you roll across your forehead and they didn't seem that great either...
..so we're pretty much in the same boat you are ..so I'd love to know what people are using that they think works well too.
For a quick read, I'd either get the Braun ear thermometer or the Exergen Temporal Artery one. We like the temporal one, but it is nowhere near as accurate as the rectal one.

I have both of those. I got the rectal one before he was born, and when he was in the NICU they told us NOT to use a rectal one. Another mom told us to get the other one you have posted, the scan one over the head. It gives me a different reading every time, and it seems that each reading is quite different.
I use the one the hospital gave me but I'm not sure what brand it is. Which is rectal. Rectal is the most accurate way to get a baby temperature. They told me rectal was okay as long as you aren't doing it all.the.time. Since Isaac came home from the hospital I've used it 2x (the day after 4mo shots). Both the same day. One right after the other. Just because I thought I read it wrong the first time. Which he did have a fever in the end. Otherwise call your pedi and see what they recommend! She might have one that she thinks/knows is more accurate than other.
We have the Exergen temporal artery one and I love it because I can check DS' temp while he's sleeping without waking him. It does give slightly different readings sometimes, but I tend to get consistent readings when I use it to take my own temp, so it may just be that DS is moving or I'm not hitting the exact right spot on his forehead. The nurses in the hospital warned me that it wouldn't be the most accurate way to take DS' temp until he's old enough to know that he needs to sit still for it.
We also have a Safety 1st (arm/oral) thermometer that I think is probably a bit more accurate so I use that if DS feels warm and he's awake.

Hahaha... so you can get a SIXTH??
How far apart are the readings from your 5 thermometers exactly? Can you just calculate an average? :P
I'm sorry, but I'm getting a kick out of this....
This is by far the most accurate one for a baby:
