March 12 is my first MFM appt and March 20 is my next ob appt where I’ll have my first of two GD tests.
  • I have my normal appt tomorrow and my MFM appt (with the anatomy scan) March 25. Super anxious for my level 2 ultrasound.
  • @purplg8r Is it typical to have 2 GD test?  Are they both the drink?  I have seen a few people mentioning they have 2 schedule. I guess I assumed #2 was only if you failed #1.

    March 6th: OB with ultrasound.
    March 11th: First MFM.
  • I have two appointments this month!

March 11 is my 16 week OB appt. I think they are doing a blood draw to check for spina bifida - I had a FTS so I already know my numbers for Trisomies 18 and 21, and I know they won't duplicate those tests.

March 26 is my anatomy scan!
  • @jrm_14 they said I had to have 2 because of my age, IVF, and fertility diagnosis of “mild pcos”.  And yeah, 2 drinks
  • I have a 16 week checkup today and an elective ultrasound tomorrow to find out the sex, which includes a 3D ultrasound. Excited for that but also nervous -- it will be VERY real, if you know what I mean.  So anxious to hear the little heartbeat again this afternoon, and very hopeful that they will be able to get a good view on the ultrasound so that we can go forward with our gender reveal confetti shooters at our family dinner on Saturday. :)
  • I got 2 this month. Just had the monthly OB check up early this week and the anatomy scan scheduled for next Friday. Too many people are vested on the result, lol.
  • 16 week check up today. And it was a long one. I had sono, MFM, and ob today.
Sono went well, baby's heart is looking a-ok right now, measuring just about perfectly, and moving up a strong - can't feel it yet though.
Mfm was basically just going over the sono results and telling me everything looked good.
OB was good. I actually thought I was scheduled to see his nurse today, so I was pleasantly surprised when they told me I'd be seeing my ob today. He did say my placenta was a little low, but that there is plenty of time for it to migrate up. But I can't say it doesn't make me nervous. I also told him about my headaches that won't go away so he prescribed something for that. Then went up to lab and got blood drawn to check thyroid levels as well has thyroid antibodies.
I was there for 2 freakin hours.

Next Sono is on Wednesday. And then I have some sort of appointment or sono every Tuesday from here on out for the remainder of the pregnancy.
  • Just had my 16 week check-up, just a quick doppler check, and a "any questions or problem?" Everything looks good! Now my AS is officially on the calendar for April 1st, so I'm counting down to that...

I had a bonus sono at an MFM this past Monday because I had gone to an elective US and the tech told me my fluid looked low.  She basically did a full anatomy scan, and baby looks great!  My anatomy scan at the OB is schedule for the 18th and I'm hoping I'll still get that one too, because my husband is able to make it to that appointment.
  • Counting down the days until Thursday! AS and finally figuring out what side the tiebreaker in my house will go to. DD wants a sister so bad I actually don’t know how I’ll break it to her if it’s a boy

  • @olivemomma that's hard when kids have strong preferences....would she go for playing up the fact that she's the ONLY girl in the family and that's such a special thing?  Without making your son feel like bc it's a boy (hypothetically) he's less special?  I wouldn't want to go there,  but you know your kids and their dynamic.

  • Only two scheduled appointments for me this month -- my next ultrasound on the 20th, and my 20 week OB appointment on the 28th.

I may have some repeat bloodwork at the 20 week to check my thyroid levels, which tested low at 8 weeks and are still low despite some improvement. So far my OB doesn't seem to think it's anything to be too concerned about, and she says the improvement is a good sign. Hoping the positive trend continues! I made the mistake of googling thyroid problems during pregnancy and was completely freaking out, until hubby reminded me that the doctor would have told me if it was an immediate concern or there was anything I needed to do or change. Then he banned me from googling pregnancy problems if the doctor doesn't say I need to be concerned. 😂
  • @BigBadWolf12 yea I think that’s the angle I’m going to play up with her if it’s a boy. My son is younger and so easy going I don’t think he would care one way or the other

  • My anatomy scan is today at 2pm ahh its so hard to wait.  I'm pretty nervous since I haven't really been feeling the baby very much.  I hope I'm just paranoid.

  • HARUMPH -- elective ultrasound failed to determine a gender. Baby would not cooperate, and believe me we tried everything. We were there for 2 hours (the technician was very determined and kept bringing us back in periodically between her other appointments). They'll bring us back for free in a week or so to try again. Bummer because we had a "reveal" planned with both of our families the next day. Alas, no reveal. But we still enjoyed the family time.
  • @law_and_little1 I feel ya, DS1 didn’t reveal himself until close to 30 weeks... I was dying to know. Trying to keep the anatomy scan for this one in perspective just in case we have a repeat, but patience isn’t really my thing.
  • mkrelmkrel member
    @BigBadWolf12 When is the reveal?!
  • @BigBadWolf12 yay for a good scan and having 1 healthy baby in there! Good luck with the reveal.
@law_and_little1 sorry LO wouldn't cooperate. so nice of the tech to try to get it.

@purplg8r Overall, it sounds like a good appt!  Are you also seeing an OB?  How was your first glucose challenge?  Sorry if I missed those updates.

@law_and_little1 That’s disappointing. Hopefully you’ll know next appt!

My first MFM appt was yesterday. All looked well with the baby so far. There’s still a dysfunction with my placenta. That as well as a couple other factors have me at high risk for PTL. I didn’t get any guidance on what this means for monitoring other than they’ll start at 20w. I was so overwhelmed that I didn’t think to ask. The dr was v clear about risk of a few things, including my autoimmune meds. I left there feeling so defeated. I know that was his job. I felt on defense & judged rather than supported. MH will attend the next MFM appt with me for the AS.
  • @purpleg8r we put mustaches and lips on sticks and had the right one put in a "baby is a..." envelope and the wrong one put in a "reject" envelope with the extras so we could take pictures after.  It was cute.  We pushed it up out of the envelope on Skype with family overseas 😍 then took pics with ds, dh, the bump and I having the appropriate prop in front of our mouths for our social media announcement of the pregnancy :p it turned out really well and was really simple.  Also worked bc I like finding out with family at the same time instead of knowing first and just telling them and it was easy for the ultrasound tech to assemble.

Glad your scan today was good!  Hopefully clear pics of the heart and brain soon :)

  • @jrm_14 yup. Seeing an Ob too. My first GD test is next week.  I’m mentally preparing myself.   I’m sorry your appt didn’t go as you’d hoped and that you didn’t feel supported. That’s a rough way to feel.  Hopefully next appt will go better, esp if your H is with you.

    @BigBadWolf12 aww. Cute!!
  • Everyone’s updates are getting me so excited for my next appointment! We are scheduled to have our anatomy scan 3/22 after just having my first initial visit with the midwife on the 1st. The US will be at a different facility than the birthing center so that kinda sucks, they just really make you feel at home at the center. When I spoke to scheduling she referenced ‘dating scan’. Should I make sure they have me scheduled correctly? Or is there just more lingo that I’ve yet to learn?
  • @jrm_14 I'm so sorry you had a tough appointment today! I'm glad all is well with the baby so far. Try to hang on to that for now.  <3<3
Rainbow baby Dean is due 2/17/17!
  • @emqbee have you had a scan yet? Technically my a/s was also a dating scan since it was my first scan. But I'd probably call to clarify. Don't want to show up and they've only set aside 15 mins in the schedule for you,  for example.

  • @jrm_14 It's not fair that you have to go through all of this after what you've already been through. Who wouldn't be overwhelmed? Hugs.

  • Thank you! It is my first one but I’ll definitely make the call to clarify!
  • @jrm_14 I am so sorry you felt judged and defensive. I would write down all of your questions so you can go in prepared or even message your provider for clarification. Sometimes so much information is thrown at you it can be hard to absorb it all at once. Big hugs and try to focus on the fact that baby looks good now.

  • We just had a monthly checkup and got to hear the heart beat for the first time! She also made some tumbling moves and heard that too. Everything is good, heart beat in 150s.

I am a cyclist and since been pregnant have been riding the spinner. The last two rides I have been experiencing a pulling pain from my pelvic area up to belly button. The doctor decided it was best to stop. I am totally fine with it, was feeling kind of like a fatty up there. :)
