Re: Randoms 3/4

  • I've been having a lot of Braxton Hicks this morning and I'm trying hard to keep my anxiety from thinking it means anything.  Nothing more frequent than 4 an hour so far, and I'm probably just being paranoid but it's also hitting me that labor could literally be any day now (although hopefully not for a few more weeks).

  • @kangstadt ahhhhhhhh. I'd be freaking too. Hopefully it really is just BH.

I think I overdid it on the productivity and cleaning this weekend. I'm so tired today I'm basically non-functional. Which is bad because I have a kind of important meeting thing later.
  • @kangstadt Hugs. I have had almost no Braxton Hicks this time and it’s freaking me out a little. Like sitting uncomfortably in a car for 2+ hours yesterday while dehydrated and didn’t have any. I had them last time and I’ve had them a couple times this go around but it’s very rare. And it’s making me have all sorts of worries that my Ute is locked up tight and my probable induction is going to fail and I’ll end up with a c-section. Cue guilt, worry and anxiety. Ugh.

  • @thatbaintforbetty if it helps at all, the dilation and effacement of your cervix is actually not a good indication of when you'll go in to labor or how long labor will take. As far as I can tell, there's not even much research on how your cervix "ripeness" impacts success of induction - especially because there are drugs they can give you to speed that up... Plus, you could be having braxton hicks and not feeling them, and as far as I know, BH aren't actually an indication of your readiness for labor either. So, don't stress about that, of all things.
  • @kangstadt I tried saying something to H about that yesterday.  Like I'm 35 weeks today.  Realistically I can go into labour baby can come at any point here.  This is really happening!  (like it wasn't before?  I don't know).

I know we're well past the point of being amazed that another BMB has opened since we're so far along that there are 4 beautiful babies with us already but holy moly another BMB has opened.  Time is flying by and I can't wrap my head around it.

  • @mermaidca I know I'm going early but I am literally trying to wrap my head around the fact that I'm having another baby in 3 weeks and 2 days. Three weeks from today is my last day at work. Yikes.
  • @professormama Thank you! I’m really trying not to stress about it cause I know it really doesn’t indicate anything but for some reason I am more anxious about labor this time. I have had the thought that I could be having them and not feeling them which is very likely.

Realistically in a few more weeks I probably won’t care if she comes out my toes, I will just want her out, lol.

  • This little one is getting so strong. Her feet are up by my side/ribcage and it looks like my belly is in a funhouse mirror half the time from all her pushing.

My coworker started laughing when I was talking to her today because my belly kept jerking over to the side. Still have 7 weeks to go...
  • @lin0442 Mine is the opposite. My LO is so gentle and "quiet" that it's hard to catch her moving and I even see her movements more often than I feel them. It is sad to me because friends and family have been asking me to let them know when she moves when we hangout, but the moments when I catch her moving are so brief and quick that I have only been able to share those moments with my husband because he can lie next to me with his hand on my stomach for a long time and wait. I don't regret not feeling the painful kicks and jabs everyone talks about but I wish I could share her movements more with other people.

I haven't been able to fully comprehend yet that my baby is coming within the next 5 weeks, if I go past my due date. The one thing that really hangs my mind up is where she is going to come out of. 😂 I cupped her butt in my hand in the middle of the night recently and thought "No way, even this end is too big." 😨
  • That awkward moment when you’re on a conference call and realize you never told the project manager (of a project that’s apparently gone a very long time without meeting) that you’re pregnant 😬
  • @professormama, they've been fairly frequent all day but nothing regular, so I'm sure it was just my anxiety.  I hope your meeting went well!  Exhaustion has hit me hard this week too.

@thatbaintforbetty, I second what professormama said.  I'm probably going to decline a cervical check at my next appointment (or any leading up to delivery really) because I could walk around 3cm dilated for three weeks and it means nada, lol.

@mermaidca, isn't it crazy?  It's like this constant thought in your brain for nine months but now suddenly it's reality and not just abstract future planning.

@lin0442, same here!  My belly juts out at weird angles and I can literally feel his feet when he's pushing out.

@mighty_montgomery, those quiet soft moments are special too!

Speaking of, I just felt babe breathing :hushed:.  It was the slightest feeling against my hand, but clearly faster and different than my own breathing and definitely not just hiccups.  I guess he had his belly positioned just right against my side.

@fuzzywombat, I had a similar moment earlier in this pregnancy; I hadn't officially "told," my next boss up that I was expecting, and then walked into their office with a shirt that had a cute pregnant-related saying on the belly.  Oops.

  • Props to anyone still following the conversations in here. I’m exhausted, read them, reply in my head, and never write them down. Sorry, team A19, I still love you.

i’m trying to get things in order for this baby and for our summer business season, but we also just disassembled a bed tonight. It feels like a step backwards so now I’m trying to get some other stuff organized enough for me to think I’m making progress today.
  • @lyse01 lol I totally do that when there’s like 30+ new posts in a thread.

I know that I live in the Midwest and snow in March is normal. But I’m so sick of these fridges temperatures and all these snow days. I don’t want DD going to school till July 4th!
  • So who of our normal random posters are not moving to facebook?  :(

  • @kosmo86 I think @professormama and @mighty_montgomery are out.

@blueberrymomma and over here I’m thrilled that there’s been snow on the ground for 48 hours for the first time this winter! It’s been disappointing to watch Virginia Beach get more snow than me this winter.
  • I feel 100% like @lyse01 said for the past several weeks. Barely keeping up with things in front of my face; although I’ve been reading along here, actually typing my own words down seems way too challenging.

Random moment related to @fuzzywombat ‘s story: I was talking to a student who is maybe around age 20 a few weeks ago and he had no idea that I am pregnant. Then he asked me how he should ask if someone if they are pregnant and all I could think to say was “Don’t. If you need to know, that person will tell you eventually... otherwise best not bring it up.”
  • @mesweettea I love that story. That kid gets points for asking how to do it right.

    Good for him for asking.

Why must people on the on the train smell like they took a bath in garlic?  😞
  • @saucentoss At least it smells like they took some kind of bath.

Accurate statement: I will not be on FB and I will be on here until my daughter arrives.

I don't know what you're talking about, we got snow once, it was flurries for maybe 20 minutes, and it did not stick. And that was the day I was driving in VB, unless I was out of town otherwise! We did travel for Christmas.
My mother in law though who lives an hour away got a nice dusting at one point this winter. :-) I agree winter has been disappointing as far as snow is concerned. It usually dissolves as soon as it falls because the ground is warm, although last year or the year before we had a week of good snowfall.
  • @kosmo86 yep. I’m with @mighty_montgomery, I won’t be on Facebook but I will stick around here as long as there’s stuff happening and I recognize other posters.

Im at the point where I’m spilling stuff all over myself all the time. I swear it’s some weird pregnancy symptom to spill things all the damn time. I just barely missed getting Dr Pepper all over my work laptop. That would have suuuuuuucked.
  • DD loves the snow...I could care less as long as I can drive to work safely, but the 0 and subzero windchill is aweful.  That groundhog better have been right and spring is around the corner.

I won't be moving to facebook but I'm more of an answer questions person than randoms.
  • @professormama I’ve got the spill everything and also a major case of the dropsies. I think soon DH is going to just follow me around the apartment so he can pick up whatever it is I have accidentally dropped again. Cooking/eating has become a much messier affair.

  • @mighty_montgomery I could be wrong (the Navy moves people faster than I can keep track) but I could swear some of my VaBeach peeps saw snow this year while I watched every predicted snow storm flood my yard with rain. DC has definitely gotten a lot of snow and I’m grumpy about it because I LOVE snow.
  • Had to open solo at work today. Other stylist decided not to show up for her last day of employment and nobody else would come in. I just powered through 3 1/2 hours with all kinds of clients. Got someone to come in early so I could finally eat a snack and use the toilet. So glad i’m Working a short day today. Just over 1 hour left. 😵
  • I'll miss your awesome advice and soapbox discussions once Facebook is the main mode of communication, @professormama!

@ysotte, that sucks that your coworker didn't bother to show up.  Yay for short work days though!  And also, I'm at the point where I would probably tell a client to hang on a sec while I run off to pee .  They've gotta understand, right?

The vaginal pressure is real, man.  I definitely don't think babe has dropped yet because his butt is still all up in my ribs and I can barely breath, but when I stand up after sitting for a bit there is intense pressure down there.  Anyone else?

  • @professormama @thatbaintforbetty I’ve been spilling DD’s milk as I pour it into her cups for weeks. Not sure if the wrist strength is gone or my coordination is but it’s definitely making me lay off complaining about everyone else’s mess.
  • @lyse01 can confirm that DC has gotten at least a few snowfalls this year. The only year since we moved here in 2015 that's seen more was early 2016 when we had a blizzard. It's been a bit of a surprise because normally we get maybe one snowstorm with a couple inches and then the rest of the winter is pretty mild. I've either worked from home or left work early because of snow quite a few times so far this winter.
  • December 5th was the one day it snowed in VB this winter that my eyes have seen.
I love the snow too! The year we were snowed in for a week was exciting to me, but I don't know of anyone who gets sick of snow in the south (not counting those who moved south to get away from it). On the other hand, the winter up north this year has been terrible and I wouldn't want to be there either. I had heard people were advised to avoid any skin exposure while outside and to avoid talking outside because the wind chill was so harsh.
  • @kangstadt I'm with you on the pressure.  Baby has not dropped yet either.  Also a lot of swelling down below.  My midwife commented during my group b strep test.  Fingers crossed the swelling does not cause problems.
  • I'm with @lyse01. Having a hard time keeping up, especially when I dont get on here for a whole day! We've had a lot of snow here this winter but had a recent warm up so a lot of its melted. I dont even try to kid myself that we are done with winter though. We will def have more storms. They should be done before LO arrives though......should be.
  • @blueberrymomma same! I don’t remember a day recently when there wasn’t snow on the ground. So many school days. I’m 100% over this winter.
  • No snow here. But the last 4 days have had lows in the teens. It’s supposed to get back up into the 60s this week so I’m hoping we’ve had our last freeze.

Going to a baby shower with my husbands coworkers today. I’ve never met any of them so hopefully it’s not too awkward. I think it’ll mostly just be diapers and stuff since we didn’t make a registry for them. It’s an hour away (he has a long commute), but it’s at my favorite taco place that I never get to go to, so I’m happy.
  • So I just had my 36 week appointment. The doctor was cool with me not getting my cervix checked. I did consent to her feeling inside to see if baby is head down. She had to push baby's butt down to get her head low enough to feel, so she is head down but not engaged. Sounds good. :-) Swab was a little awkward, but it was fine.
  • @mighty_montgomery I was just telling H last night how I think I'm going to pass on the cervical checks until I'm in labor. I'm glad your doc was cool was it. I'm hoping mine will be as well.

@professormama A baby shower at a taco restaurant sounds like a dream! Hope it goes well for you :)

  • I asked my midwife on Monday if they did cervical checks and she said no. So I don't even have to refuse!
  • @kangstadt yes to all the pressure. I’m afraid of when this little girl actually drops. I don’t think I’ll be able to walk with more pressure and I’ll definitly pee my pants lol.
