Boys are here! They arrived a little before and a little after 11am EST. Harvey 4lb 8oz and Isaac 4lb 5oz and both looking so so good. Will do a more detailed birth story later in the announcements!
Team green turned pink yesterday at 1136am. I'll do a longer story in the birth announcement thread but she is here and healthy. She'll be in the nicu for about a week, biggest things we are looking for is feeding and growth shes been a champ with everything so far.
Belated congrats to @MRDCle! They're so big and the shared whatever-it's-called is so precious! Can't wait to watch them grow even more.
Also congrats to @angelob88 on your girl! I'm SO glad it all turned out well, and I can't wait to hear the details when you are rested up enough to fill us in. Take care of yourself this week!
Congrats @angelob88 and way to keep that sweet girl in while the steroids took effect! Are you close enough to home to easily transit back and forth to the hospital for care/feeding times or are you considering Ronald McDonald House?
Aww @MRDCle I would have a hard time leaving too. A friend had twins this past fall and her hospital had specially rooms where NICU moms could stay after being discharged. She would go home during the day to see her other kids but preferred being at the hospital to pump/breastfeed at night. It’s worth looking into. How long do they estimate before you can take them home?
@lyse01 we luckily live close enough that we'll commute though probably not for every feed which will be hard.
I get discharged today and we will go home to spend time with DD1. I'll probably be at the hospital for 50-75% of feeds though. I'm happy to see my 2yr old but devastated I have to leave DD2 here. Shes making leaps and bounds so far but will probably be here at least a few more days.
@angelob88 50% of the feeds is in itself huge - I usually made it for 3 of 8 feeds in the day because a 8 hr day with transit was long enough to exhaust me, and it was difficult to drag DH away from the business for a few hours (he had to keep it running single-handedly plus keep me sane and was running on empty). Don’t beat yourself up if you don’t make it as often as you intend; the NICU nurses will keep DD safe and fed and you’re only a phone call away.
@MRDCle all the hugs. That’s a cruel layout for the hospital. But you need to take care of yourself and your older child, plus get things ready for the boys, so it’s still good parenting to go home.
@mrdcle and @angelob88 All the hugs for having to go home and not take your babes with you. NICU moms are so strong. They are in the best place they can be right now. Don't hurt yourself trying to be there too often. The nurses actually sent me home a couple times because I was there too long and that meant not eating or resting properly. I did find that being there for rounds and listening to the doctors and the team was super helpful for me to know what was going on every day. It is such a distant memory for me now.

@blueberrymomma they have a couple of those rooms here too and I used them the past two nights. I feel bad using them though because we live 15 minutes away and there are families who need them much more than we do. I’ll be able to be here from 8-5 each day though which will include 3 feeds and rounds. DH will be able to come up for an evening feed and some cuddles.
No real estimate on when they will be released - they are off IVs as of today, haven’t had any “events,” and are being weaned off their isolettes. I think for the most part they need to focus on getting better at eating and growing. They both handle bottles well but as the amount increases to a full feed (which they will hit tomorrow morning) they have to take some by NG tube. They told us to picture them coming home on their due date (4/14) which seems SO afar away so I’m hoping that’s just something they told us to not have us overly hopeful.
