@zamora_spin oh, sorry, forgot to mention. I didn't focus on the professional things, but I wanted cute more classic or casual items. There was a sweater that I could have used for professional or dressed down casual but that was a bit of a miss. The quality was great but sizing wasn't. They sent green yoga pants, which I was surprised about) that were...ok...super comfy but not my style and way over priced (I *might* pay that for lululemon or athleta but...) Two shirts, one was a typical stripped maternity 3-quarter sleeve (meh) and a grey long sleeve that I kept because its so soft and comfy and fits well. Then the non-maternity vest. I think that was it. I'm hoping the next box is better.
Hmm, I found this website, it looks promising, "Mine for Nine". Has anyone used it? You can rent or buy items and they have some suiting. https://www.minefornine.com/
Would anyone be interested in a birth stories thread for the STMs+ to share birth stories of their older kids? I loved reading them my first go around, and this time I think it might be helpful in getting over my traumatic birth to hear others stories.
@WinchesterGirl I've actually been trying to decide if it would be a good GTKY for the STM+ check in. I love them, but was trying to figure out if it was just me. I'd hate to give up a GTKY, since they're so hard to come up with, but it's own thread might be a better idea.
@zamora_spin I shopped at Isabella Oliver for nicer items. Here's their "maternity workwear" section in case it's helpful. I think some of these dresses paired with a blazer would be appropriate in a conservative environment!
My sister keeps asking me if she can get stuff not on my registry. Noooooo!!!! You can’t. I spent a serious amount of time putting it together/ researching every item and I don’t want a ton of stuff. Just stick to the registry. I’m going to kill her if she asks one more time.
@AKuzReve My MIL is doing the same, except she’s not asking she’s just telling me. And she’ll get the same things we have registered for, just a different brand. We won’t see her until April and I’m kind of dreading having to act thrilled and super appreciative when it’s really just frustrating.
@dogmomma096, I just don’t get it! She’s like I got you a blanket you’ll like. I like the ones I put on my registry. I told her stick to clothes and get me things I can use instead of things I just have to bring back from Toronto to the Netherlands and then have it stuck in my (small) house.
@AKuzReve that is frustrating but will probably happen a lot. MIL always went off registry for us and bought weird/ugly/useless crap. She also complains every Christmas that she has no idea what to get any of us but refuses to look at Amazon wish lists for inspiration so again weird/ugly/useless crap every single time.
My sweet spot for baby showers is to buy some thing practical from the registry, or several small things from the registey. Then I add in 1 or 2 outfits and a book that I think are cute and hope the couple will like.

@akuzreve@Allycat11 I have 0 doubts that MIL will buy whatever she wants without any regard to practicality or preference. I get that people like your sister are excited...but why bother asking if you’re going to do it anyway?!
Other times it feels like they are not listening to me at all, and picked 5 things with their eyes closed.
This was unfortunately my very first experience with them this week. Things asked for were Spring clothes, a Pinterest link was given with light, flowy, light colors, light wash jeans, only casual stuff aside from some Spring and Summer kind of dresses, and "the cheaper the better". I very specifically asked for stuff to match Pinterest as closely as possible. Well, the stylist sent me $250 worth of clothing, all Winter colors including a dark green based dress with dark mustard yellow flowers (not light and flowy at all), a pair of dark wash jeans, a navy blue kimono, a business dressy white blouse, and a pendant that I'd never ever wear. 4 pieces of clothing and an accessory for $250. It was like they didn't listen to me at all. If they had, the price might've not bothered me as muuuuuuch, maybe, but maybe not.
Not only that but I made it very clear not to ever send me any mules or clogs for shoes. The entire card insert for suggested outfits, 6 out of the 8 shoes were clogs and mules. It was all returned along with an email to speak my mind. They got back to me saying they could give me a different stylist and roll over the style fee for me which is very much appreciated, but I'm not sure I feel ready to go through it again lol
People think we become mothers when we give birth but the truth is we become mothers the moment we start calling our babies to us in our thoughts, dreams and prayers. Some paths are short and some are so long that you can easily forget where you were headed.

I have never made a registry. Not for either baby nor for my wedding. We had a Google spreadsheet with links to the dishes we liked (that store didn't even have a registry option) and other than that "browns and blues in the bedroom" "neutrals in the kitchen" etc. to guide people, we just took what they gave us. Most of it was useful.

I am 100% ok with buying clothes not on the registry! Especially if they have gift receipts... and other small things are fine. But like my MIL texted me to take the hamper off our registry bc she already bought a different one that she liked better. She claims to have a whole room filled with crap for us when we visit her in April. I’m hoping it’s mostly clothes, but if it’s much else (especially any gear that I have specifically researched and requested on the registry) I’m going to be annoyed!
@jrm_14 I’m not worried about my MIL it’s my mother that has me worried. your line about without practicality or purpose sounds like her. @Allycat11 your story reminded me of my mom too. She’ll buy random crap because it’s cheap or it’s some brand she thinks is “impressive” and she got a good deal. But it’s usually crap

Exactly. I’m fine with the clothes and asked her to stick to that if she doesn’t want the registry. But swaddles and swaddle blankets for example I picked ones based on reviews, material (especially since it’s summer), and limited to a few of each. I want those ones and not other random ones. I don’t have any clothes on the registry because I’m not picky about those stuff.
I solved my own mystery on the fruit/veggie comparison disparity. When I couldn’t sleep last night I remembered reading somewhere the baby is measured crown to rump until 20 weeks... the extra 4 inches is mostly legs. 🤦🏻♀️

I’m still not feeling good but we took DD skiing for the first time yesterday! She had soo much fun. She only just turned two in Jan so it wasn’t for very long and we let her slide down the bunny hill a few times while her cousins went skiing around her. dH didn’t take his ski stuff bc she’s so little and I’m sick. She stopped to go play on the play ground and then came back to ski more. So probably an hour. Omg my heart was singing so proud of my baby growing up. She loved it so much she had to hold her ski boots on the way home.

Dad should be out from under my roof and in his trailer today. We worked all day in the pouring rain cleaning and building a deck so his handicapness can get in and out. I'm so ready for my home to be my home again.
