@mamanbebe My blood pressure was super low at my pulmonologist appt last week they were shocked and retook it to be sure. Pickles for daaaaaaaaaaays here, I just bought two jars of gerkins yesterday at the grocery store.
@acgx After you posted the Coke slushie, my highly-open-to-suggestions cravings brain has insisted on them...
I'm dying for good Italian or just normal seafood, but for some reason my area is horribly lacking in the former and all the seafood restaurants here are either Cajun-y or small/limited menu.
@foodislove Same here! (and same pickles! haha) I was more surprised than the midwives that it was so low because I don't feel faint. Do you feel any different?
I've been making/eating what I guess I'd call pepperoni breakfast quesadillas...? Scrambled eggs, cheese and pepperoni grilled in a tortilla. It sounds so gross but it's my new go to.
I made this recipe last week and it was so easy and good!! For the ramen noodles, I just bought 2 $.20 ramen soup packets and threw away the seasoning packet because the Chinese ramen noodles are the exact same thing and like $3 or $4. This time I am doing chicken, squash, mushrooms, and carrots with it. So good!
Does anyone feel like you are never fully satisfied? I'm so hungry all the time but nothing really satisfies me! Its actually kind of annoying! What are some of your go to healthy yet satisfying foods?
@firsttimemommy0719 I was just thinking about how I gel like I'm hungry all the time too.
For me, hummus and baby carrots work well. I really like some of the instant Oatmeals if I want something quick but warm. I also try to keep a few Kind bars in my purse (I prefer the Breakfast grain bars to the nut bars). Sometimes a yogurt with some protein- packed granola works for me too.
@firsttimemommy0719 Protein is the only thing that helps me. I love Sunwarrior Protein powder. After years and years of trying different brands, this one is the best for flavor, texture, and quality!
@keebler6elf and @hakele thanks a bunch! I've been doing lots of fresh fruits and veggies in attempt to keep weight gain down, I've already gained 10lbs! But sounds like I need to add some protein!!
I'm really into grape tomatoes and fresh mozzarella cheese. Costco has a great deal on both and I am addicted. Although, this was something I loved before pregnancy.
I just want all my food to be some form of chocolate right now... I'm trying really hard to keep a relatively balanced diet. I am having snacks like vanilla yogurt with some chocolate chips to try to temper the urges... It helps for a few minutes!
Came home from Target with these... Oooooooops. I meant to buy ONE KitKat and maybe some form of fruit candy to chew/suck on to keep the cruddy taste at bay, but couldn't resist the all-pink...
Sloppy Joe's with extra pickles and raw onions, homemade fries, and roasted radishes and brussel sprouts. So good!! Even the boys ate everything without complaint, minus the raw onions.

@indulgentgypsy love it! My two bigs can do a quick breakfast and easy lunches but we haven't really shown them how to do dinners yet. That time is usually so hectic that I just do it. I need to start letting them help though! Every kiddo should learn to cook!

I am eating my second breakfast. Woke up and made coffee and scrambled eggs and now I’m having cereal. I’m also already thinking about leftover spaghetti for lunch 😂. I’m starving today. My plan for dinner is salmon rice and mixed veggies.
@nopegoat they can do breakfast and lunch stuff pretty well, so we felt it was time to expand. So far they have done spaghetti and meatballs and tacos. Tonight they learn biscuits and sausage gravy. We planned our whole menu this week on stuff they want to learn how to make.
Not exactly a second breakfast, but opened a bag of salt and vinegar chips an hour after breakfast and had a very hard time stopping... been wanting anything tangy or spicy and salty lately.
@indulgentgypsy This is several years off for me, but I love the idea of teaching children how to make dinner meals.
@hinotes - for both DH and me we were responsible for dinners at LEAST 2-3 nights a week (getting it started, getting meat thawed or stuff prepped if not fully cooking it) by the time we were 9-10 yrs old. My oldest is 11 and my youngest is 9, so we felt it was time. They understand that they have jobs and responsibilities as part of the family, and taking over dinner duties at least 1 night a week each, is part of their "job".
When I left the house, I could make a very limited menu. I want my LO to have the chance to learn more than I do. As they grow older, they will help me with one meal a week. Their role will be age appropriate (from just picking the meal to shopping/planning/fully cooking the meal). I intend to use this as a teaching tool for cooking and health. I'm kind of excited to share the kitchen with my kid and hopefully pass on a love of cooking healthy meals!
Love that you gals have plans for teaching your littles how to cook! I agree it is such an important life skill. My dad worked in a restaurant when he was young, so he was the cook at our house growing up. He taught me so much about making dinners. He's so creative and comes up with really great meal plans! When I was little, my mom had me help a lot in the kitchen. I could do a decent amount on my own by age 10. Pancakes, Cookies, Oven Nachos, a few casseroles. My dad's signature meal is grilled cheese, so I probably knew that by the time I was 10. Then, after 10, my dad had me helping in the kitchen with dinner almost every night. And by the end of high school, I would cover us on nights when my dad was out of town because his work changed and he traveled a lot at that point. I think it is such an important life skill. Then, in college, I worked in the food service at my university. I learned tons from our trained chefs. Especially knife skills! One of our chefs was Alicia Keyes' dad! They are estranged, but I just always thought it was funny that he made me breakfast every day. My stepmom only makes Thanksgiving and little sister does NOT cook. My little sister has to be helped with every little task when she tries to help at Thanksgiving. Kills me.
My number one skill to add to this when you are teaching your kids about cooking. TEACH THEM ABOUT FOOD SAFETY! So many people I know get to college with NO knowledge of food safety. And it is downright dangerous.
@hakele we butcher a lot of our own meat so food safety, cross contamination, etc is always high on our list!
I made the best stuffed bell peppers last night. Wild rice, 2 cheeses, mushrooms, celery, carrots, onions, and of course lots of garlic. Paired it with baked lemon cod over greens. So good!!

still poptarts over here. And they had cherry in stock. I am very pleased.
I have being trying to cook dinner for the kids again. I got a new medicine for my pregnancy migraines and so far, I have been feeling a little better. I felt guilty with all the garbage I was feeding them when I wasn't well. Tonight I am making chicken marsala:)
Momma to Amelia Marie (7/14) and Austin Samuel (11/17). Adding baby (girl) #3 on 7/21
I’m eating A grilled chicken snack wrap from McDonald’s after grocery shopping idk why but hey are so good. I’m making burrito bowls using lean ground turkey for dinner tonight.
