Re: February STM & STM+ Check-In
We are not official potty training yet but I could tell DS was about to poop in the tub so I yanked him out and sat him on the potty. Poor dude was traumatized, but I didn’t have to bleach my tub for the 763rd time since he was born so I don’t really regret it that much.
rant - I just had to pay $360 to fix an issue that MIL caused by trying to be helpful.
Rave - My beta numbers came back with a doubling time of 21 hours 😍
Appointments? An Under the table appointment in 3 weeks - I explain it in the appointments thread.

GTKY: What is your favorite thing about being a parent?
Right now, it is watching DS’s communication blossom. He had to get tubes at 13 months, and he wasn’t walking or talking at all at 17 months (likely due to the ear issues) so we did early intervention and he is finally starting to communicate well. He still has plenty of phrases that only we understand but they are so adorable. He calls noodles “toe-loos” and he sounds a little bit French when he says it 😂

watching them grow and learn new things. The 1.5-2.5yr range is my favorite for this reason

GTKY: What is your favorite thing about being a parent? Hearing her laugh. DD has a crazy hilarious belly laugh that I live for.
@cmbt2 -- I totally agree with you. 1.5-2.5 is seriously underrated. They're so loving and enthusiastic and they're little sponges who want to learn everything.
Due Date/W+D: Oct 2 / 5+2
Appointments? Next one is the 11th, our first ultrasound.
Questions? How and when are you telling your older kid(s) about their impending younger sibling?
GTKY: What is your favorite thing about being a parent? Watching them learn new things, haha. That look of, "omg, I get it!" is the best!

as for telling- not until 4-5 months along; basically once it’s obvious. We didn’t tell DS1 until close to the end (he was 27m when DS2 came along). We just didn’t think he’d get it until baby showed up. If he did, he didn’t make it obvious. He understood what we meant when we said we were going to get his baby brother (induction) and was excited to meet him when we brought him home.

@cmbt2 how long was the house supposed to take?!
@soralette As much as I want a climactic moment of telling my DD she's gonna be a big sister, she's just too young to understand at all right now. haha. Maybe she'll suspect something when she's a little close to 2 and starts noticing a big belly?

with younger ones) wondering what toddler/preschoolhood is like, here’s how my morning has gone- DS1 gets up at 6:20. He “lost” his lovey. It was in the living room. We spent 10 minutes looking for it. He has demanded to go the museum nonstop. He also wants his o gauge train set set up. DS2, who gets up at 6:30, stuck his hand down his diaper, grabbed poop, then mushed it all in his hands. He was very proud and kept going “what’s that?” Poop, every where while he was running around. He wears a disposable with a cloth cover on top to try to prevent this (jokes on me). They have both demanded food and drinks multiple times.
Its only 7:04am. They get tv privileges on the weekend (no
tv M-Th or before school on Friday) starting at 7am. In the past 4 minutes, they have demanded 5 different things.

@cmbt2 That's super sucky about your house! What's your new estimated time frame for it to be finished?
@theearlymajority Oooo, I hate those YouTube videos too! My son was the same way. I stopped letting him watch because I couldn't see the educational value in some of the crud he was watching (toy unboxing, other kids playing with the SAME toys he had).
@soralette SUCH A LUCKY GIRL! I'm in SoCal so we have Disneyland but I've always wanted to go to WDW. Maybe someday!
Due Date/W+D: 10/14/19 - 3+5
Appointments? Since it's Saturday, can't call yet. My employer also changed insurance plans for 2019 so I have to find a new OB-GYN
Questions? nope
GTKY: What is your favorite thing about being a parent? Watching my kid and the sense of pride I feel at his accomplishments. Also, when he says, "Mommy, I love you" just out of the blue is pretty awesome.

@theearlymajority I have a love/hate relationship with YouTube. DD would have it on all day if I let her. But, I have to say, I’m thankful for the peaceful showers I’ve gotten and the times I’ve been able to get the dishes done because of it. Don’t beat yourself up. Being cooped up because of the weather can be difficult on everyone in the house.
Due Date/W+D: Oct. 13
Other kiddos/ages: DD turns 2.5 in a couple weeks.
Nails/Fails: DD has had two successful dance/gymnastic classes so far, but today, she refused to let go of me once we got to the studio. I tried everything I could think of to make her feel comfortable and to at least have her sit in the studio and watch the class (parents have to sit in a waiting room). I also tried my best not to be obnoxious, but I think after a couple attempts, the instructor and other parents started to get annoyed. I feel bad for everyone involved.
Rants/Raves/Dear Diary? I’m super nervous about what having two kids will be like. I myself am an only child and DD is really good at being one.
Appointments? No dates yet. I will be scheduling an appointment on Tuesday.
Questions? Not yet.
GTKY: What is your favorite thing about being a parent?
Getting to teach my own child, showing her all the cool things about life, and seeing her reactions.
@cmbt2 -- that sounds incredibly frustrating!! I hope they actually get it done this time.

GTKY: What is your favorite thing about being a parent? How much he learns and how quickly he picks things up. Right now it's his copying! MH was sitting on the counter with him and he started swinging his legs, so DS moved to the edge so he could too, it was absolutely adorable 😍
This pregnancy I actually started going to a Barre class once a week just before I found out I was pregnant and it's been going really well!
I started getting into a good routine with fitness classes and working with a personal trainer about a month ago. I just hope I can keep it up. I have never been one to enjoy exercise but I realized how much better my anxiety is when I do it regularly so I try to prioritize it in my schedule 3-4x a week. I have switched my goals however. I was trying to lose just a couple more pounds and improve my running pace. My goal now is to just get something done while keeping my pulse and breathing rate in a safe range. I use a fitbit to track my pulse and I keep my breathig such that I can still speak while exercising. Two days before I got my BFP I ran a 5K at a 12:30 minute/mile pace. This morning I ran 3 miles but to keep my pulse and breathing rate from getting too high I took a break between each mile and “ran” at a 14:00 minute/mile pace.

@grapeskittles4lyfe why does it feel like it takes years to get settled after a move?! We moved in July and I'm honestly just now feeling a little settled. @cmbt2 I hope you're able to get in the house "on time" this go around.
@nnaelilak I didn't see your other posts yet but I take it you're house hunting? It's SUCH a process.
i’m gonna call it a win if i remember to stretch regularly this time.

Appointments? So I see 2 different OBGYNs. The midwives who are local I will see at 8-10 weeks and from there on out. I also see a fertility care specialist because prior to having my first baby I had wonky hormone levels. I still see them once for pregnancy confirmation and then they monitor levels for me throughout the first trimester. I see them on Monday
Questions? None right now!
GTKY: What is your favorite thing about being a parent? Seeing my son accomplish things - we’re working on letters and writing right now. I’m totally one of those moms who think their kid is the coolest kid ever 🥰
Appointments? March 6th. I hate waiting!!
Questions? Anyone else feel like life is a little easier now that the first one is older and your world is about to be turned upside down again? I'm nervous to add a second kid!!
GTKY: What is your favorite thing about being a parent? I love watching my daughter come home from daycare learning new stuff all the time. This week she came home and sang "months of the year" song. And she told me we lived on the earth. So cool! It's so fascinating to me to see how smart they are so young.

Questions? Some say 2-3 is the hardest. 1-2 was a doozy for me. Anyone feel like 2-3 was easier? 🤞🏽
GTKY: I am constantly humbled by the unconditional love. I often lose my temper and speak angrily to my kids and no matter what they still love me.
Oh, man, this is 100% my view, too. I remember with my first asking my FIL (who was staying with us to help out) at like 2am when my firstborn was perhaps 3-4 days old how people ever have siblings, LOL.

Questions? Any coffee drinkers out there that continue to drink through pregnancy? I don’t drink any soda or caffeine other than coffee but I’m hoping I can still have a small iced half calf from Dunks every day? My midwives last pregnancy were super ok with coffee but I feel like they’re lenient on a ton of stuff so hoping to get your feedback here ladies!

ETA- in names, our families tried that with DS1, and promptly learned I don’t give a —— what they think on names or what names they like. My boys actually share names with uncles 🤷🏼♀️

My older son has markers for autism but not enough to warrant a medical diagnosis, according to those who have evaluated him. This was part of why he was so easy, I think. (Partly because he is naturally mellow and compliant) He fixates on wheels, so as long as he had a toy car he was content and quiet. My second has never been quiet a day in his life.
Hopefully because my kids are older now and less physically needy it won’t be too bad. At least that’s how I’m reassuring myself. How old are yours?
He started services right before his 3rd birthday through the school district and came in at 3% for speech and 7% for behavior/social. We had him evaluated for EI at age 2, but he wasn’t delayed enough. By the time he got evaluated by the school 8 months later, he basically had no improvement at all and got further behind. He’s now in an integrated program with pretty intensive therapy.
I also had PPD with him, and my H had PPA, so I think that’s partially why he was such a rough one for us
DS2 just screamed 24/7 for 10 weeks 🤷🏼♀️

GTKY: What is your favorite thing about being a parent? +1 to what everyone else said. Also, this might sound a little narcissistic but I love seeing the ways that G is like me or my H. Like little mannerisms that he or I do or even just likes and dislikes that are the same.

Questions? Any advice for my above rant?? Or do I just have wait until he turns 4? People tell me at 4 they magically mature.
GTKY: What is your favorite thing about being a parent? When they snuggle into you and everything calms and you can just feel how loved you are. Also, the funny mispronunciations of new words. So cute!
