GTKY:  Have you always wanted children? If so how many? Did you change your mind at all along the way? Do you think you will end up with the number you wanted or more/less?

Yes, I always wanted at least 2 and this will be #3.
  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days:
17 weeks today! Due July 8th

Baby is the size of a(n):
    Pomegranate

Team (Green, Blue, Pink, Finding out):
    Pink, per elective u/s!

    Upcoming Appointments:
Official OB anatomy scan on 2/18

    How are you feeling?:
Pretty good. Not 100%, but a lot better than I have previously. I seem to get out of breath easily, and have been having some dizziness and migraine issues.

    Rants/Raves:
I cleaned out my entire “nursery” this weekend! It was our former office and storage room for all our boxes from when we moved and never dealt with it. I decluttered and got rid of half of the stuff, and I’m working on organizing it in our guest bedroom now.

    Questions:
    none

GTKY:  Have you always wanted children? If so how many? Did you change your mind at all along the way? Do you think you will end up with the number you wanted or more/less?
I’ve always wanted two children. Thought we’d have our two kids before age 30, as we got married at 22 and 23 (me). Ended up changing careers and going back to grad school, so here I am 30 and pregnant with my first!

Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 18 weeks on the dot!

Baby is the size of a(n): sweet potato

Team (Green, Blue, Pink, Finding out): Blue

Upcoming Appointments: AS on 2/11 -yay @Panaceia due date and AS twins

How are you feeling?: I can't shake this stupid cold

Rants/Raves:  My sweet sweet husband wants to be involved in picking things for the nursery and it's giving my extremely picky and controlling self agida. He normally is the whatever you thinks will be best type of guy, but man is he opinionated about this nursery. My very small victory with myself is smiling and not complaining about the dresser knobs he purchased (even though they are in fact all wrong). Feeling lucky he cares enough to want to make decisions, but I think going forward I'll just show options and say which do you prefer that way at least it's something I know will work.

Questions: This may be a silly one, but how would I know if I had anterior placenta? Would this have come up at the 12 week NT scan? FTM reading too many articles about when you'll feel the baby.

GTKY:  Have you always wanted children? If so how many? Did you change your mind at all along the way? Do you think you will end up with the number you wanted or more/less? Yes all my life I've wanted two kids, I still want two kids! DH would like more so that may happen, but three is definitely my limit. Sidenote: DH has 5 siblings and I have 1 so we have very different outlooks.

How are you feeling?: Wicked ass heartburn and still so so so tired. I took a 2 hour nap after lunch yesterday and still went to bed at 8PM.

Rants/Raves:  Rant - so I had to take Zantac when pregnant with both my boys because the heartburn was so bad it kept triggering nausea. Got the okay to take it again at my appointment last week and it is not working! Still having constant heartburn. And getting really pissed about it.

Questions: Anyone else starting to get really concerned about weight gain? I've literally ALWAYS been a fat girl, but I head to morbidly obese territory (over 300lbs) when pregnant. I cannot emotionally do that again as it cost me three years of sex and intimacy with my husband because of my PPD and body issues after my youngest son was born. Literally NO sex for 3 years because I hated myself and my body so much.

GTKY:  Have you always wanted children? If so how many? Did you change your mind at all along the way? Do you think you will end up with the number you wanted or more/less?

I always wanted children. I have always wanted a HUGE family, if all my pregnancies had made it to term I would have 8 children and be in bliss. Unfortunately I think 3 will likely be where we stop, because I seem to have a lot of trouble carrying to term and I'm 41 now, the risks just get higher and higher for me and baby. It makes me feel bad for my husband too, because he has always pictured us with a houseful he said, and I will not be able to make that happen for him. Makes me feel like a failure sometimes (not that HE makes me feel that way, he does not ever, just the crummy circumstances).

    How are you feeling?:
    Pretty good!

Rants/Raves:  very anxious to see that everything is ok on the anatomy scan

    Questions:
Has anyone had a vbac? Is anyone thinking about a vbac?
Any stm+ with an anterior placenta? When did you start feeling baby?

GTKY:  Have you always wanted children? If so how many? Did you change your mind at all along the way? Do you think you will end up with the number you wanted or more/less?
When I was young, I imagined 2. Then in my teens/early twenties, I changed my mind to none. I think we’ll end up with 2.
  • @indulgentgypsy
I am also worried about gaining too much. I lost a lot of weight after DS, but unfortunately put some back on. My goal is to gain no more than 20. I get nervous because I’m up 9-11 already.... 😣
I’ve been working out 4-5 times a week to try to help and I’ve really been working on eating healthy, but I keep putting weight on. I’ll stay the same for weeks and then bam, 3 lbs.
  • @mama_bear19 I need to find a work out I have the time, space, and energy to do. Anything outside is out until April or May due to lack of appropriate gear for Alaska or I would be out walking every day. I have Zumba and nearly every Beachbody program made (used to be a coach) but I have limited space to do them.

I also need to get back on Keto now that I can stomach real food. With extra fruit and vegetables. I don't necessarily want to lose weight while being pregnant, but I really don't want to gain more than another 10lbs max. Goddess knows I have more than enough fat stores to feed me and Mouse for a while!

ive always wanted children. 2 was my number, never changed our minds.... until SURPRISE birth control baby #3 was conceived and here we are 17 weeks later 😉
  • @indulgentgypsy
We have an elliptical, but it’s harder for me to find the motivation for that. I’ve been doing pregnancy workout videos that I found on amazon. It does strength and some cardio. I can do them in my living room. It doesn’t require much space.
  • Est due date/ weeks + days: July 2nd 17+6

Baby is the size of a crossiant

    Team: finding out

Upcoming appointments: anatomy scan on Feb 4th

How are you feeling? Really bad back pain, I had major problems with sciatica with DD and it feels like it’s back!

Rants/raves: DD is turning 3 on Friday which makes me so emotional I can’t believe she’s growing up so quickly. We have a ton of stuff planned for the whole weekend which should be super fun for her and luckily keep my mind off of Monday’s scan,

GTKY: have you always wanted children, how many etc.

Yes on some level I always figured I’d have kids but I had times when I waivered and wasn’t sure. DH and I had talked about it before we got engaged and we just kind of decided to wait and see what happened then got pregnant with DD completely by surprise. When pregnant with her I kind of figured we’d have one more but again I went back and forth on the idea a bit after she was born, but we eventually decided on one more and then took 18 months to get pregnant with this baby.

We think we’ll be done with 2 and planned on DH having a vasectomy after this baby comes but since I’m young I do think we might hold off a little bit just in case I decide on one more later on, even though it’s unlikely.

Upcoming Appointments: Feb 8 anatomy scan!

How are you feeling?: fine but I'm randomly puking after eating. Note often but random. I feel fine. The food is fresh. It's stuff I like. And I don't feel nausea, just that I need to puke.

Rants/Raves:  people treating me like pregnancy is a handicap. I can do most things I did pre-pregnancy...so let me!

Questions: anyone else randomly puking but feel fine?

GTKY:  Have you always wanted children? Yes
     If so how many? 2
Did you change your mind at all along the way? No
Do you think you will end up with the number you wanted or more/less? Probably the number I want

I'm obese. 250# normally. I lost some first tri due to lack of appetite but not much...245#. I'm at 253# currently. I worry about it because I'm already showing some minor high BP that we're monitoring now and I work in a field that focuses on disease prevention ..so I feel like a hypocrite. I also can barely stomach foods I'd normally eat. But bagels & cream cheese sit well 😫

    Pomegranate

    Finding out

    Upcoming Appointments:

Had a good check up last week. Nothing scheduled for this week

    How are you feeling?:

Good! Tailbone hurts when I sit too much, but I am working through that. Acid reflux has been more prevalent lately

    Rants/Raves:

My health insurance is changing, so I’m going to have to find a new OB. I am bummed... I like my current care team, but keeping them isn’t an option

    Questions:

GTKY:  Have you always wanted children? If so how many? Did you change your mind at all along the way? Do you think you will end up with the number you wanted or more/less?

I always liked the idea of two, but I saw so many couples around me struggling to conceive that I never let myself feel that was a guaranteed thing. This little peanut will be our first, and we will have to wait and see where we go from here!
  • @indulgentgypsy I feel you on the weight gain. I’ve always been an okay weight (little on the higher side) but with DD I gained like 60lbs and kept about 35lbs of it on for 18 months after having her. Then I lost 50lbs before getting pregnant with this baby and I’m just paranoid of gaining it all back.

Currently I do a Zumba class a couple times a week, I have so many home workouts and dvds but I can never find the motivation to do it myself but having a scheduled class to go to helps keep me motivated to go. My diet has just been insane the last month due to crazyfood aversions so I’m already up 10lbs but I’m hoping to keep it under control from here on out.

Good luck mama I know it isn’t easy, I keep thinking I’ll deal with anything as long as I have a healthy baby but it definitely sucks thinking about major weight gain.
  • @gbud630 They can see at your AS if you have an anterior placenta. At my 11+1 US it was still too early to tell so I won't know until my AS. With DD they didn't tell me but I saw a note in my chart after the AS and it was labelled on my US pic too. I didn't start feeling her until 23 weeks and not consistently until 26 weeks. I'm a STM and still haven't felt what I am confident is baby and not just gas. Don't worry about when you'll start to feel baby. Most commonly it's between 21 and 23 weeks. We just have to be patient  (which is SUPER hard). But since we're EDD buddies we can wait together:)
  • @mama_bear19 I had an anterior placenta with DD. Started feeling her around 23 weeks and VERY consistently by 26. I'm not sure what my placenta is doing this time but I'm 18+0 and still not feeling what I'm confident is anything other than gas:/
  • @Panaceia ugh mama that sucks. I feel ya, I really do. At least you know/understand your triggers.
  • @panaceia I’ve struggled with eating disorder issues too, particularly in high school and college. It can feel so lonely, but now that I’m in the field that I am I can see that more people struggle than I realized. I haven’t relapsed since before I got married, but remember that you’re not alone!! Thinking about you and wishing you the healthiest of pregnancies ❤️
  • @indulgentgypsy, I worry and watch closely. I worked with a nutritionist during my first pregnancy and she helped so much. But basically, baby can take calories from fat but cannot take protein from muscles. And can take calcium from bones, but you don’t want that. Remembering that really helps me figure food out.
  • Thanks @indulgentgypsy and @rgn12 . I don't normally talk about it since I feel too many people misunderstand it and think it's a choice...but it's nice to know there are others here who also struggle with body image and weight issues. Like @rgn12 said, it can feel very lonely and isolating.
  • @panaceia you’re right about that for sure. I remember people telling me to just stop. They didn’t understand that I couldn’t and that I needed some type of intervention (unwanted by me) to help me. I usually don’t talk about it either! I actually have yet to disclose to many people, including my in-laws and friends.

@panaceia do you talk to your OB about it? I can’t remember if I ever disclosed to her or not. If I did it was a while back when I was giving my medical history.
  • @gbud630 they saw and told me about mine at my 12w NT scan. They said as a STM the movement I feel shouldn’t be as delayed as a FTM with an anterior placenta. I’m still waiting for definitive movement. Sounds like they can’t always tell at the NT scan though.
  • @mama_bear19 I had an anterior placenta last time and started feeling her early, around 14 weeks, even though they told me I wouldn't feel her until around 20. This time, I have a posterior placenta and JUST started feeling him move this week at 17 weeks. Go figure.

hiiiii ladies, so glad to be back. Hubby's grandma passed away last Saturday and I've been dealing with life but here I am!!

    Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 7/7, 17+2

Baby is the size of a(n): pomegranate

Team (Green, Blue, Pink, Finding out): PINK

Upcoming Appointments: my next prenatal check up is 2/11 and then my AS is 2/19

How are you feeling?: Back to normal, although really uncomfortable when sleeping lately

Rants/Raves:  I started on baby girl's nursery and it's so exciting going through the process and not being rushed and just taking my time to put it together.

Questions: Any other FTMs starting to freak out like me? All I've wanted my entire life is to become a mom and now that it's like happening I'm getting anxiety about the whole thing and life changing and etc

GTKY:  Have you always wanted children? If so how many? Did you change your mind at all along the way? Do you think you will end up with the number you wanted or more/less? I have always wanted children, matter of fact, when I first met my husband and we had a talk later about kids and etc and my hubby told he was unsure if he ever wanted children, I flat out told him ' I love you but I know that I want children and if you think there's any doubt you'll ever want in the future, I must not be the one for you' This conversation was four years ago and we waited until we were mentally and financially ready. I've never changed my mind on children but husband definitely. I want two kiddos but if I'm just meant to have one, that's fine by me as well. We plan on trying for another child after this but have not discussed when.

  • indulgentgypsy I’m also extremely concerned about gaining too much weight for same reasons, since Hubby and I have been together , I had gained about 50 lbs and I felt so crummy about myself and just really depressed and it took a toll on our relationship and I’ve lost 70 lbs total since right before baby and was finally happy with my body and the way clothes fit and now seeing the weight creep up, it’s definitely messing with my mind L

mama_bear19 that’s exactly how I feel, I’ve been doing at least 10,000 steps a day mainly to stay active to  have an easier labor and for mental health, but my weight stays steady and then boom!! 3 lbs up today but I keep telling myself it’s the actual baby and the water and blood and the boobs, etc because obviously it’s not FAT! Because I’m not eating any differently except for maybe a few more 100 calories..

mrscammack I’m glad to see I’m not the only one around here with weight concerns

Panaceia I’m going through similar mindset- it’s so hard to see the weight# go up, and I have triggers I know will happen if I see a certain number and seeing that number is absolutely possible with having a baby!

firecracker_mama OMG ! that’s been driving me insane as well, the ‘you’re not supposed to do this or that’.. I can handle carrying the garbage bag outside and picking up my 10 lb dog. It’s OK people!

  • @babyginjuly Yes! Working out has helped me mentally!  I’m hoping it’ll help with delivery and recovery  (vbac or rcs).  My dr only wants me to gain 20lbs so I’m hoping it helps with that as well as getting to goal after baby.
I’m not a ftm but I have moments where I have some anxiety about adding to our family. We’re certain it’s what we want, but I think it’ll be an adjustment because our first will have to adjust.
  • alright @mama_bear19 @babyginjuly you guys inspired me, I've been wanting to workout and trying to add some squats and stuff in when I have a few moments, but now I'm really going to make the time. Thanks ladies!

Baby is the size of a(n): a large order of McDonalds fries!

Team (Green, Blue, Pink, Finding out): pink

Upcoming Appointments: regular appointment on Friday, AS on Monday

How are you feeling?: physically ok, aside from some lower back pain. I think sciatica. I also haven't felt baby move yet and was told at the NT scan I had an anterior placenta so I'm very impatiently waiting for some definitive movement. Emotionally, having a month between appointments, not feeling her move, and not being able to find the heartbeat on my own at home (all mixed with my PGAL brain) all have my anxiety on overdrive!

Rants/Raves:  I could eat all morning long but come lunch time, and especially at dinner,I want nothing to do with food whatsoever. Also, our bathroom scale is broken so I have no idea where I am or how much I've gained. Probably for the best.

    Questions:

GTKY:  Have you always wanted children? If so how many? Did you change your mind at all along the way? Do you think you will end up with the number you wanted or more/less?

I've always wanted a big family and thought 3 or 4 kids. H initially wanted 3 but he didn't feel complete at 3 so here we are on #4. I'm 99% sure we're done but not sure if I want to officially close that door just yet.
  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: July 2/ 18 weeks today!

Baby is the size of a(n): sweet potato

Team (Green, Blue, Pink, Finding out): finding out on Monday as long as baby cooperates!

Upcoming Appointments: Monday for our anatomy scan

How are you feeling?: finally starting to feel somewhat better and have an appetite. Let’s hope it’s not a fluke and it lasts!

Rants/Raves:  I was able to eat all weekend without throwing anything up! Woo!

    Questions: none at the moment

GTKY:  Have you always wanted children? If so how many? Did you change your mind at all along the way? Do you think you will end up with the number you wanted or more/less?

yes I have always wanted to be a mom. It’s one of the only things I have ever wanted. I’ve always thought of myself with 2 kids and I think we are still thinking that. Unless when we go for number 2 we have twins which would definitely happen to me lol
  • @rgn12 I haven't disclosed to my OB but I will if I start to do anything that puts baby at risk. I just let the nurse know I didn't want to see my weight so she covers it up any time she weighs me. My OB doesn't comment on weight at all (which is good) and I feel like so long as I'm gaining fairly steadily he won't. I will have to step on a scale at least once a month to make sure I'm keeping my weight in check though. I feel like I'm gaining too much right now so I've been putting it off:/ I haven't disclosed to anyone on SO's side of the family and don't plan to. And my mom is in the ignorance is bliss camp...so she has always pretended it wasn't a thing. Which is fine with me. My last relapse was after DD was born but I was able to pull myself out of it on my own. It took a year so I likely should have gotten help but like you know, I didn't want help. I think being a new mom and feeling so out of control is what triggered it. I'm hoping with this LO I'll feel more comfortable so maybe won't find myself in the same situation.
  • @Panaceia it was about the same for me in my last relapse too, ~a year. The important thing is that you DID overcome it! You did that, and you are STRONG!

It sounds like you have some really good strategies for avoiding your triggers which is super important. If you ever want to talk, I’m here! ❤️
  • @Panaceia all the love mama, all the love. My BFF of 30 years suffered with an ED and relapsed so hard after her daughter that I held an intervention for her. She didn't talk to me for about 6 months, but she got help and we made up eventually.

Rants/Raves: everyone’s sick at my house and I’m just ready for everyone to be feeling better.

    Questions: none

GTKY: Have you always wanted children? If so how many? Did you change your mind at all along the way? Do you think you will end up with the number you wanted or more/less?

no, I never wanted kids. All my kids have been bc fails. I love them so much, they’re my everything. I definitely ended up with more than I wanted.
  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: July 4, 18+1

Baby is the size of a(n): sweet potato

Team (Green, Blue, Pink, Finding out): Girl

Upcoming Appointments: anatomy scan on the 5th. I had the date wrong but got an appointment reminder for the correct date yesterday, fortunately!

    How are you feeling?: sleepy

Rants/Raves:  our fire alarm battery started dying at 11pm. We currently have no ladder tall enough to reach it. Going to be either fixing that or staying with my parents tonight, haha.

Questions: has anyone else started saving for baby expenses? I worry that we’re not saving enough, and at other times I’m convinced we’re putting aside too much for her. How are you all handling it?

GTKY:  Have you always wanted children? If so how many? Did you change your mind at all along the way? Do you think you will end up with the number you wanted or more/less?
Nope! I like(d) my life a lot without kids; I was perfectly happy to be the fun aunt in the family. But my husband really wanted kids, and I wasn’t opposed to it, just ambivalent, so we tried and here I am at 18 weeks. I would like for this to be our only child, but who knows.
