Ages (you and SO):
How many months have you been TTC?:
What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)?:
Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.):
I'm 30 and husband is 42. We've been together for 11 years and married for nearly 8. I went off BC in November and gave myself a couple months to get my regular cycle going, so this is our first month TTC.
I am basically trying to limit how much I track to the general window given by my Ovia app as last round of TTC I was obsessive over just about everything. I really hope I can stay more relaxed this time!
My history - TW possibly necessary:
We began TTC the first time in 2014 and finally got a BFP in early 2015. Unfortunately, that first pregnancy ended in a natural miscarriage just prior to 7 weeks. During the appointment to confirm that it was complete, a large cyst was discovered on one of my ovaries. It was surgically removed along with that ovary and tube, and I was finally given a diagnosis for endometriosis - had suspected for years due to heavy and painful cycles.
We were fortunate to get pregnant immediately after that surgery and have a beautiful almost 3 year old little girl.
I'm optimistic that my history will not be a problem, but you never know until you're in the middle of things. I can definitely offer support to those dealing with similar issues - early loss, possible fertility issues, nerves for pregnancy after loss, etc. I know that the support I received during that difficult time made a tremendous difference in how I was able to find my peace and move forward.
Hi all - I've been lurking for a few months here and there, but DW and I are now trying to learn everything we can be doing to get that BFP, so I'm going to jump in and start engaging on here!
Ages: I'm 27 and my wife will be 28 next month. How many months TTC: since April 2018 but we've had 5 cycles worth of trying, and we're taking a break this cycle to re-evaluate how we're going about things.
WAYDTGKU?: We're a same-sex couple, and we did genetic and fertility testing at an IVF clinic last April. My wife will be carrying; she has regular cycles, and her test results gave no indication for difficulty conceiving.
As BD with two V's and no P cannot possibly result in pregnancy, we started with IUIs using frozen donor sperm. The first cycle was cancelled due to opk struggles/timing. Then, IUIs 1 - 3 were un-medicated and opk timed. We struggled to nail down her LH surge for all of them. We did monitoring for IUI #2 to help but none of it ever felt precise.
To up our chances (because donor sperm is PRICEY), the RE put her on letrozole for IUI #4 and we used a trigger shot (Ovidrel) about 40 hours before the IUI as directed by our nurse. We had 2 mature follicles the morning of the trigger shot and 2 others that might have matured (according to our nurse) in time for the IUI. It didn't matter much though, because the cycle ended in another BFN on Friday, and AF showed up yesterday.
So now we're taking a break and pursuing a second opinion at another clinic. We're also considering INVOcell (Does anyone know anything about this? It seems to be the only method in which I feasibly *could* be part of the conception as I am not able to carry and my family has hereditary illnesses that I do not want to pass onto our children by using my eggs, but I could perhaps be the "incubator" during fertilization with this method.) or home insemination as IUIs cannot be successful without reeeeaally precise timing, which we've struggled with.
About myself: I'm a fundraising director for a sustainable food advocacy nonprofit, and my wife is an advocate for domestic violence survivors. Outside of work, we're both involved in local activism and community organizations. We've got a 4 year old rescue dog who joins us when we go camping, hiking, and kayaking. I also love to cook, bake, and host folks at our home.
@sjmal Welcome to the board! I don't think we have any other same sex couples currently on the board (someone please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) but we do have a same sex grad @wishiwaspreggo that I think looked into INVOcell if she didn't use it. I hope you're able to get some great information to help you and YW start your family!

@sjmal - Heyo! Yes, I am gay and I did INVOcell. I did IUI when I was TTC #1. Took me 6 tries. We thought DW could take on TTC #2 but for a variety of reasons it was up to me again. Being 36 and concerned about my ability to conceive with an IUI we decided to look into IVF. My first clinic wanted an outrageous sum of money for IVF but then we discovered INVOcell. It's really an amazing process. I'm happy to talk with you about it anytime. Feel free to shoot me a PM!
Not really a newbie (I was here in 2016/2017 and started the TTCAL thread on TTGP), but haven’t been posting here in a while. I lurk and root all the time here.
Ages (you and SO): just about 36 and 34
How many months have you been TTC?: month 2 / cycle 2
What are you doing to get knocked up? WTO, OPK, prenatal, tons of other vitamins, and attempting to temp. I’m irregular, so O is unpredictable.
Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.): I’m a teacher with a 13 month old son, our rainbow baby. He hates sleep. DH does shift work, which complicates TTC at times. I was on the August 2017 and November 2017 BMB boards.
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*
Hi all, I’ve been lurking for about 2 weeks now after discovering the app during a google search.
Ages(you and SO)- I’m 30 (almost 31) and husband is 31
How many months have you been TTC- month 2/cycle 2 after one month off birth control not “trying”
What are are you doing to get knocked up- OPK, BBT, CM, CP
Tell us about yourself- my husband and I have been married for a little over a year, together for 6 years total. I’m a civil engineer and he is a federal officer (and yes furloughed, working without pay right now which doesn’t help the stress levels). Looking forward to giving and getting support during this journey
Hi everyone, this is a re-intro for me.. I intro-ed a little while ago, but found it hard to participate due to some work and life stuff. I'd like to try again now!
Ages (you and SO): I am 33 and MH is 41.
How many months have you been TTC?: 3
What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)?: pre-natals, tracking CM and doing OPKs. I was planning to temp, but I don't think I'm starting this cycle.
Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.): I have one son who will be 2 in a couple of months. I'm a librarian. I like running, reading, working out (sometimes), eating delicious food and drinking good beers.
I am 34 and my husband is 37. I am nervous about our age and conception, I feel like we are closing in on my window!
This might be a sensitive topic for some. We have a 2.5 year old and are looking to have a second child. We started trying (again) about one month ago. We had actually gotten pregnant but miscarried at 7 weeks in May, and kept trying but in August I got a new job, so stopped until I was a few months in just to make sure I qualify for benefits.
To to get pregnant I am just tracking my ovulation with the little sticks from Walgreens and taking a vitamin. If anyone has a better option I am all ears. My cycle is a little wonky - pretty short when I am not on BC so I am constantly testing!
We have been married 3 years and together for 5. I like to play tennis and that’s my go to for sports and exercise. We both work so my daughter goes to daycare, and I’m constantly feeling like I should spend either more time with her or more time at work. I’m curious how I will feel with another child in the mix - would love other second timer’s insights. On the weekend we spend time outside at the park or at the children’s museum if it is cold. There are some great indoor options for kids where I live. We also make a lot of pancakes on the weekend as my daughter loves them! She’s pretty good at helping by now - cracking eggs and mixing batter!
Wishing everyone here a lot of luck in this journey!
Hello!! I posted a few weeks ago but I’m not sure if I put it in the right spot. Nice to meet you all! I’ve lurked on and off for a bit so here we go:)
Ages: I am 33 and my SO is 36.
Weve been TTC for 3 rounds now (I’m currently in the 2WW).
What I’m doing: Well... seed cycling (I spot several days before AF but lately I’ve had a couple months of 8-10 days spotting before AF so if there’s a progesterone issue hopefully it gets taken care of, I’m also waiting for a referral for Gyno)? doing the FAM method, just this last month introduced OPKs and SMEP.
About me: I live near the ocean, I love spending time in nature when the weather is good, love good food, travel, family, binge watching good TV, love Pinterest.
Hello, I have been using Ovia and decided go try something new.
Ages: I am 28 and hubby is 30
We have been trying to conceive for 13 months now.
WAYDTGKU: I have been using Ovia since we started TTC. I use to use OPKs but stopped using them bc they added stress on DH. It became a conflict bc I would get anxious and would feel like we had BD right then and hubby had a hard time with that. My body has pretty clear signs of aunt flow coming and ovulation that I learned while using OPKs, so I pay attention to the signs and log them. Hubby is doing better now with that and we are having more fun with TTC now. Hubby had a sperm analysis and it came back normal. I had a series of blood tests to check hormones and health status that came back normal, along with an ultrasound to view my ovaries that came back normal. Next step is to see a RE I guess. I am feeling confident about this month and currently 3DPO.
About me: I am high school teacher and my husband and I have been married for 15 months. We have two dogs: Lucy, an a Austrailian stumpy tailed cattle dog and Kye who is the sweetest bordercollie ever. We also have 2 all black cats. I also raise boer goats. We love to be outdoors and to travel.
Hey everyone! I was on TTGP when trying for our first, and it got me through some very difficult times, so of course I had to come back. I switched up my username (was MrsMiller8588).
Ages (you and SO): almost 31 and almost 34 (both have bdays within a month)
How many months have you been TTC?: This will be our first month officially trying. My cycle has been back 2 months, but I have not been tracking.
What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)?: I think we are going to start simple and work our way up. Start with just OPKs and pull out the supplements we have (I will need to refresh myself on what all to take and have DH take!). I will probably hold off on temping for now, I'm not sleeping through the night and I dont want the added stress of second guessing temps.
Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.): We have one DS, 7 months old. It took 11 months to get pregnant with him. In that time we received an MFI diagnosis (count less than 3 mil) and were told we would need to move straight to IVF. We were in the process of additional testing with an urologist when we surprisingly got a BFP. We never did a repeat SA since we jumped straight into additional testing for insurance reasons. That will be our first step if we have trouble getting KU with #2.
We also have 2 dogs (black lab mix and golden retriever). They are both SO naughty, but get away with it because they are cute. Our current hobby is finishing our basement. I work as an engineer and DS works in airport ops.
Looking forward to getting to know everyone and supporting your journeys!

@g_gabs71016 I recommend downloading the app "Fertility Friend". Using your Basal Body Temperature (BBT) is the only thing that confirms ovulation. Be careful, it doesn't predict ovulation, it just confirms it. To predict ovulation, you have OPK tests, checking your cervical mucous...
TTC#1 10/2018: MFI (2 SA under 9 million/ml) 11/2018: HSG shows right Fallopian tube slightly damaged 1/2019: Husband diagnosed with grade 3 varicocele 4/05/2019: varicocele repair surgery 6/13/2019: BFP!!!

Using your Basal Body Temperature (BBT) is the only thing that confirms ovulation. Be careful, it doesn't predict ovulation, it just confirms it. To predict ovulation, you have OPK tests, checking your cervical mucous...
