Dd is back in school and I was so happy but then my sister asked me to babysit. At least with dd she's old enough to do things herself and grab snacks. Now I have to be very watchful of the 1 yr old.
@asupernovablizzardstorm Aww man. I forget how much I rely on my bigs until they go back to school and I have to deal with the littles by themselves.
My boys went back to school today as well. Nothing says first day back like forgetting a backpack at home. Had to come home, put real pants on, and bring it back to school since we pack lunches.
My sister bought me this new shirt and it's now been deemed my Monday shirt lol!

It's snowing. Luckily I'm off until tomorrow but DD has 50 activities tonight so I'm hoping the roads don't get too bad.
@asupernovablizzardstorm I watch my brother's kids a lot but they are all over 10 now. I don't think I could handle a 1 year old while feeling so much like dirt!
@nopegoat I have no plans to put on real pants today. I'm considering wearing my pjs to drive DD around tonight. And love the shirt:)
@Panaceia it's a random, sharp pain that starts in my lower back/butt and shoots down my leg. It's not constant but holy smokes it hurts. Massaging my lower back, stretches, warm baths, and Tylenol are what my OB recommends but honestly I haven't found anything that truly helps.

@nopegoat OMG I LOVE THAT SHIRT!! why the heck would you need a baby shower after 9 kids!! that's ridiculous. She could open a kid store with that many kids. Big families are fine but I def don't expect anyone to throw me a baby shower and it's my first.. let alone my tenth.
Thank you @babyginjuly! My sister got it for me! Way too perfect!
Right? I get all babies should be celebrated but she specifically mentioned wanting gifts because they needed to replace stuff after her last just few years ago.
And I'm not completely against showers for your 2nd+ kid. But it was really gift grabby and just kind of gross and of course now the older ladies in the group are like send me your address and it just seems so icky to me.
Wife. Boy mom x6. Expecting #7. Wannabe homesteader. , 💙💙💙💙💙💙
@nopegoat Thank you! I think that is what it might be. It starts in my but on the right side and shoots down my entire leg. When there is no shooting pain it just aches constantly.
Most of my family members have minimum 3 kids but no one had a shower after their first...other than my one cousin since she carried their first 2 children and her wife carried their 3rd. So we had a shower for their 3rd since it was my cousin's wife's first time carrying the pregnancy. But it was just super close family that was invited. We spoiled her anyways
@nopegoat, I'd have a hard time biting my tongue. That's absurd. I don't even go to showers for third babies +. I will go to a shower/sprinkle for a second baby, but I draw the line there. I would firmly decline any offers to throw me anything for this one. I don't take issue with celebrating a baby, but there are ways to do that without having a shower.
So my bitch today is about DH. I have my NT scan in about 3 hours, and he's missing it because of a meeting. He's known about the appt for over a month. He asked Friday if I could reschedule. Uhhhh, no I can't. It's with MFM and I had to make it 6 weeks in advance. I am very annoyed.
Momma to Amelia Marie (7/14) and Austin Samuel (11/17). Adding baby (girl) #3 on 7/21
@Panaceia I'm sorry your are dealing with sciatica too. No fun at all!
That's really sweet that you threw her a shower too! ❤️
2nd+ showers are definitely not for me. I didn't even want one with my first. I hate being the center of attention IRL (I know huge AW on here lol). I don't judge unless you flat out are being an ungrateful, gift grabby jerk, which she definitely was.
Oh no @ccmama3 potty training suuucks. Sleep deprivation plus potty training is just inhumane. You using a particular method or just kind of winging it?
@ameliabedelia-2 yep! I'm all for celebrating babies but jfc. You have 9 kids. You shouldn't be expecting a full shower and gifts!!
I would be annoyed as heck too. Sorry girl. But Yay for seeing baby again!! My fingers are crossed everything looks perfect! ❤️

@nopegoat I'm just wining it! Started last Wednesday and the first 3 days were great. The weekend was rough. Giving it another week before I toss in the towel and wait another month. I don't want three in diapers though!!!
@nopegoat I am so excited about 2nd tri! It finally feels more real. I cannot wait until the big bumps start to roll in too.
Man, my stomach is a WRECK today. All the gluten from the past 4 weeks caught up with me and now everything makes me have indigestion. It's like nausea all over again where I don't want to eat anything because I a) feel sick and b) will feel even worse no matter what I eat.
Just when I was worried about disappearing symptoms, the afternoon exhaustion has hit like a truck and I can’t even drag myself to target. I love target! I’ll be here on the couch watching catfish. Will try again tomorrow with the rule that I go before noon. 😂
Exhausted today, first day back at work after weeks of illness and then university closing for break. I have my (decaf) tea and some fanfiction (dun hate on me) to keep me going til I pass out on the couch and DH gets annoyed with me. Thank you toddler for going down easy to bed!
Major eye roll on the circumcision thread (for unsolicited advice not the content). I made that decision with my husband who also has just happens to have a penis and our sons' medical provider.
We do circumcise. I was in the room with my first when it was done. It's not as "barbaric" as some may think. They numbed everything and he only cried when they had to restrain his feet so he wouldn't move and cause problems.
I have also heard stories from a close friends that dealt with problems of not circumcising so it made perfect sense for US!
ETA not trying to convince anyone that circumcision is the right or only way to go it's just what WE and did why.

We did not circumcise. With our oldest, it was because we moved from NV to NY when he was 2 weeks old. In NV they circ at the Pediatrician office at 1 month, in NY the circ at the hospital before you go home. We also had no insurance and no medical need for it.
We did not circumcise our youngest because that way he and his brother would match. It was after that we saw more research and op ed pieces against and decided we would not ever circ.

Aaah we are just about to start with dd. I'm thinking of doing the pantless pee-all-over-the-house method. She's currently afraid of toilets so we're off to a good start, haha.
@mnkenned that's what we've been doing!! We let him wear undies over the weekend and that resulted in several pee accidents and two poop so back to naked today and it went much better. Good luck!! We're using a little fisher price potty that sings when you pee and he likes that!

Ok good! We have the same potty but a princess version (she is the girliest girl...no idea where she came from). Good luck!
Random question - are there any pregnancy safe vitamins or supplements to help boost your immune system to prevent illness? I work in the office suite upstairs in a medical building, so vigilantly wash my hands and sanitize. I feel like a crazy person trying to avoid the plague lol, but know we can’t really take much if we do get sick at this point.
They also said it's safe to take zinc or zinc lozenges but not Zycam; however, when I tried the zinc lozenges they made my stomach feel sick, so I do not recommend.
@rgn12 I swear by the Yogi Immune Support echinacea tea. Whenever I feel something coming on I drink a cup or two at work and it usually helps keep it at bay. My prenatal vitamin (Pink Stork brand) also has a good amount of zinc in it to help fend off the plague!
DH started a new job and I had to drop him off at work this morning before driving to school. Had to leave my 11 & 9yr old to get ready, let the dogs out, and get on the bus by themselves. They managed to get ready and get to the bus, but did not let out the dogs that is going to be a giant mess - 4 BIG dogs - when we get home this afternoon
@rgn12, I started a probiotic about 6 months ago and haven't been sick once. DH has been taking them for years and has the world's best immune system. My kids are sick ALL the time and I would always catch it. I can't recommend probiotics enough.

And now the Jan 19 circumcision thread is arguing vaccinations. Yikes...
@babyginjuly yes! I bought two Christmas pajama suits, an umbrella stroller, and a pack n play (all on clearance). I figure if someone else buys me a pack n play or stroller for my shower, I can leave the spare at my mom's or MIL's house. I really should start looking at secondhand too.
@indulgentgypsy I take the total prenatal plus DHA. I also took the fertility supplement and tea for a couple of months while TTC. I really like the brand, they've got a lot of great products, and you can get it off Amazon prime!
@mamanbebe I can start the next thread! Was thinking of starting one for baby monitors. There are so many options out there!! Would that be okay with everyone?

Got sucked into that now the comments bashing big families have started. Definitely not getting anything done today.

Hit post too quick...
I keep having my back, almost lock up to the point I can barely move. Totally sucks!
