  • @UnbreakableKimmySchmidt I exclusively wore nursing tanks. I have a very small chest so I could get away with not having to wear a bra. I also liked having a layer underneath my shirt so that way my tummy wasn't hanging out when I was nursing.
  • I kind of want to start putting my bag together now but I also feel like it’s too soon. One thing I was so glad I had was my own, warm robe. I wore it almost the whole time after I gave birth because the hospital got cold.

  • I was more comfortable just washing clothes and not tossing them because they are a lot thinner and wash up better. All that filling and thickness in a pillow, I just don’t know how well that will actually wash. target has pillows for like $4 so thats my plan!
  • @UnbreakableKimmySchmidt YES! Nursing tanks are the way to go! I wore one daily for at least 6 months. It helped with pumping too. I would unhook the nursing bra and plop the flange right in there and the support of the bra cup and nursing tank held it up! Also your stomach isn't hanging out while nursing or pumping. Stuck up ladies. I had to order a bunch in Amazon after baby.

Also don't forget the nursing pads, I used reusable ones a lot! You might not necessarily want these in your hopsital bag, but given the nursing tank convo, they go hand in hand.
  • @molosmiles maybe, maybe not. I never once used a nursing pad the first time  I’m notaround, and I had bought SO MANY! I won’t buy any this time unless I actually need them.

  • @MrsDho11 You are lucky! I would wake up soaked in breast milk and every time I would nurse the other boob would leak, any time my baby cried, I thought about her, or even heard another baby cry I would leak milk. In fact, I've already started leaking a bit but not enough for pads. Totally jealous of you. I guess just buying a couple reusable pads until you know how you will be is a good idea.
  • Me:
-A few pairs of high rise big underwear. I didn't have a CS with my first but it's good to be high enough over wear a scar could be plus they are comfy. I also only brought dark colors because blood.
-Black robe. I wore this as soon I could take a shower
-Size or two up in comfy pants (I had lounge pants), again black
    -Nursing bra and cami
-Toiletries. I brought everything travel sized for DH and I to share.
    -Hair dryer
-Something semi-cute but still comfy to wear home. I wore black leggings and a chambray maternity top.
-Flip flops or slippers to wear around the room
    -Nipple cream
    -Breast pads
    -Chapstick

    DH
-Two changes of clothes and underwear
    -Extra pair of shoes
    -Wallet
    -Snacks and water

    Both
    -Phones and chargers
    -Bluetooth speaker
    -Extra bag

    Baby
-Going home outfit. I would bring premie, newborn, and 0-3 month. DD was swimming in newborn clothes but we never tried premie because she was a normal sized baby I thought
-A few receiving blankets. We used the ones the hospital provided mostly but it is nice to have a couple of your own. Plus we used one and then sent it home to let the dogs smell too before we went home.
-Boppy or nursing pillow if you plan to BF. I didn't use mine with DD at first because it was hard in general and I wish I would have sooner.
-Swaddle velcro swaddle, didn't have the first time, definitely will this time.

We brought the baby stuff in a diaper bag and our stuff in a ThirtyOne tote. Very consolidated and not too much fuss. I didn't want a ton of stuff we wouldn't use. Things like blankets, burp cloths, diapers, wipes, and such will be there for you to use. We didn't dress DD until we left, she just wore the little t-shirts they gave us. A lot of people want their own pillows and towels, for me it wasn't worth packing extra stuff. I just used the hospitals scratchy and tiny towels lol.

I mean, nice not to have that issue, but I had supply problems and had to supplement then give up sooner than I wanted! So two sides to everything, right? Totally keep saying that I hope I just have oversupply this time, but I’m sure I’ll regret actually wishing that upon myself if it happens!

  • I have to say too that I think the amount I ultimately pack in my bag will depend a lot on whatever happens in the next month or two. If my BP starts going up and I think I’m facing another possibly long induction, or if baby doesn’t flip head down and I’m looking at a C-section, my bag will probably be bigger again than if it looks like I’m going to get to go into labor on my own and hopefully not be there as long this time.

  • I briefly read through prior posts and there’s lots of good suggestions. I read lots and lots of lists when I was pregnant with DD but I will say that I over packed for what I ended up needing.
I wore DH’s sweats and long sleeve shirt to the hospital and wore the same clothes when we left to go home. I didn’t shower while in the hospital (showered right before I went in at 10pm and spent that night and one more night). Yes I felt kinda gross, but I just wanted to go home and use my own shower. I wore hospital gowns the whole time I was there. It was easy to nurse and to have them check me. I was glad we brought phone chargers and a notebook to write things down as doctors came in and out checking on DD.

  • Oh another thing I plan to pack is my portable white noise machine. Hospitals can be so darn loud and I slept like total crap last time so I'm hoping that a little white noise will help me and the babe.
  • Yes to @DLpanda08. I don't remember taking or using much else than that. And honestly I wore the hospital gown the whole time so I only needed a going home outfit for me too. At this point I'll probably pack my bag once labor starts.
  • I literally have packed the diaper bag for the ride home Hubbs has had his bag packed for over a month now with blankets and swim trunks ect and I'm slacking bc I can't give up my bath robe or maternity PJ's just yet. I feel like once I need it or get close I'll pack it. I'm currently 36 weeks and 6 days and don't feel the pressure to pack just yet. But I plan on putting sandwiches, snacks, robe, breast feeding PJ's and clothing, socks and tbh wish I could take my padsickles with me lol! I may throw in a few always discrete depends just in case. I only have to stay for 24 hours if all goes well so I won't need much.
