I thought I was just blind earlier while trying to find this. We leave to drive 9+ hours on Friday to go to our homecity. My anxiety about being with my mom for a week is climbing. We really do have a good relationship but better over the phone. In person with 24/7 contact our anxieties clash and is explosive. Then you know all the normal holiday drama.
Definitely happy to be in 2nd trimester. I entered the vitamin water contest to go without your smart phone for a year to win money. At first I was like no way I could do that but I think it would be good for me. I'm on my phone way too much as it is. But then I would have to actually get a camera because I use my phone for pics.
@harrierwife I need to try that over the holidays. And OJ is basically life lately, so I'm assuming this will be a big win.
There is a guy who is really annoying me at work. He constantly comes up to my desk when I'm clearly on a conference call and tries to ask me questions. And he is a smoker and drinks coffee and will ask them so close to my face that I want to puke. Personal space, people! Respect it!
@wearyfuzzball eww close-talkers can be the worst sometimes.
@sparklingdiamond I can’t have my phone with me at work, so I feel like that’s break enough. I just use it for so much more like pics, my calendar, my email... I don’t even really use social media apps anymore except for this so I feel like I can give myself a pat on the back for that.
@luckystar28 I think we are DD buddies so yes, totally in the 2nd trimester. I’m very excited about it! Now that I’m kinda showing for real it’s starting to get real real. Excited for this baby to get born!!
@canuckbaby the biggest thing I found weird about the avocado was, when do you see a 4.6” avocado?? That seems like a big avocado. Maybe I just don’t know relative measurements
The size disparity is just hilarious at this point. Does anyone know if those measurements are still just crown to rump? Meaning these babies are actually larger than 4.6 inches when you include the length of the legs?
@luckystar28 I legit started crying when I read your comment. We are pregnant!!
Anyone know when the 2nd trimester officially starts? I thought it was at week 13 but the what to expect when you’re expecting book says week 14. I called it at week 12 haha
@antera23 it definitely depends on where you read. I don’t think there’s one scientifically accepted definition. Since 40 isn’t divisible by 3 I think it’s a crapshoot. Personally since I think 3rd Tri is pretty universally at 28 weeks I typically say 14 weeks for 2nd tri. But only because I don’t want 2nd to be that much longer. Plus in third you definitely want it to be shorter! Although I was overdue with DD so it wasn’t much shorter than the other two! @carleym93 I read that at some point they switch how the measurements are... but I don’t remember!
@luckystar28 yep June 3rd!! Yay! That’s 16 weeks for me today!! I feel like while it’s kind of amazing to be pregnant I kind of can’t wait to get my body back.
@carleym93 yeah I think this is crown to rump measurements. I think at this point baby stays pretty crunched up and they’re still pretty small so I think it’s too hard to get an accurate measure of full length. I think they start to do full length measurements in 3rd trimester.
@antera23 and @ShadeofGreen816 I think TB and this other pregnancy journal I have seem to agree that the start of Week 14 is the start of 2nd trimester. Part of the reason could be that because we do LMP as the basis, the first two weeks you don’t really have a baby gestating, so maybe that’s why it’s 14 instead of 12. Who knows? Go with what you feel 😋
Hi! Joining the party late. I intro-ed in the intro thread but I also feel weird just jumping in without acknowledging that I’m totally crashing in here late.
@antera23 I think everyone has a different idea about this but I think the end of week 13 (so when you “turn” 14 weeks) is when 2nd tri starts. I say call it whatever makes you feel best!
@wearyfuzzball That sounds horrible. Especially with the bionic pregnancy nose.
AFM, I spent the whole day in the ER with my son who fell down our entire flight of hardwood stairs, onto our hardwood fooor. Horrifying. Thankful for no head injury and still waiting to see if he’ll start to walk on his right leg or if he’s going to need a cast. Feeling like mom of the year over here. Safe to say it’s time to get that carpet runner we’ve been talking about installed...
I also thought it was once I got to 13 weeks but now I’m calling it at 14 which is this Friday! @luckystar28 I definetly have this feeling once a day! @harrierwife I have been big on the OJ and club soda train. So satisfying. Seems like I’m not the only one craving OJ
About to fall asleep but two things... 1. @pbtoast YIKES about your son! Hope he can avoid the cast. Either way, accidents happen...no judgment here, unless you were the one who pushed him, and even then it might hinge on the circumstance.
2. @harrierwife since we're both riding the Lacroix train, try mixing OJ and lime Lacroix. It's totally a dry-champagne mimosa.
So happy that we’re all almost on the second tri! I’m 15 weeks tomorrow and have gotten a TON of movement the past couple of days, always in the evening. It really is amazing, but then I also start thinking of little tiny hands clawing inside me and that totally weirds me out (in the best way 😆).
I took my two year old to see some reindeer today. Once she saw them, she immediately asked me where the ducks are. Could literally care less about the reindeer and was just convinced I was hiding a gang of ducks from her. Toddlers are funny.
does anyone watch Dirty John? I just watched the latest ep and the main character is making me so mad.
@ki1244 - Duuuuuuuuuude, I'm doing that later today!
@pbtoast - I'm laughing at your post ONLY because you're in good company, here. No judgment whatsoever, unless like others have said, you pushed your son down the stairs. I really hope your son is alright! And welcome, late-party-crasher
@pbtoast so sorry your son fell! How scary. Hope his leg doesn't need a cast. That would be rough. But glad he's ok over all.
I'm jealous of anyone else feeling regular movement. I maybe felt something last night but then again maybe it was just a gas bubble? I don't know? I thought I was supposed to feel it the second time around earlier but I guess I'm not good at differentiating between gas and baby. I suppose when there's a foot in my rib again I'll know it then.
@pbtoast no judgement either, that is terrifying. I sometimes joke with DH we should pad the walls, ceilings and floor in the kids playroom and living room. It’s only a joke because I know he would never go for it but me on the
It’s so hard to believe we are basically second trimester now, I am 14 weeks today (or yesterday depending on which counter I am looking at). I thought I felt movement but I honestly can’t be sure (you’d think the 4th time around id be better at knowing) but we my last I didn’t feel movement until almost 20 weeks.
DH took the day off to get more work on the house done, he works 6 days a week and never takes a day off for any reason. I was so excited until I actually had to be around him all morning. I am totally ok with him work 6 days a week as a hard rule 🤣
I'm trying so hard not to doppler in between OB visits unless I feel desperate to do it, but it's so hard to resist. I guess this is one of the downsides to having it at your disposal.
I’m having my first real coffee in weeks. It’s sooooo good.
@pbtoast I’m so sorry about your son! Children are just walking danger zones. When I was 6 I wanted to see if could bear crawl down our very steep stairs. I couldn’t... lol. Also when I was 6 I wanted to see if the burner was really hot when it turned red. So I touched it. It was hot!
@antera23 Eternally jealous! I was able to have some coffee at a diner a few weeks ago and it was amazing. I can't wait for coffee to NOT be an aversion.. ugh
@runyogamom - if it makes you feel any better, the movement I feel (14w here) is super subtle and I can only feel it when I'm pretty still. I could see where people would mistaken it for gas/your pulse/a spasm.
I feel it right above my bikini line, and right under the surface (not towards my back). I only feel gas up higher with the rest of my small intestine and towards the back in my large intestine....my pulse is up above my belly button. The movement feels like little bubbles, flutters, or as @meatballs37 so eloquently put it, like "bloops" from a fish on the side of a plastic bag filled with water.
Its easiest for me to feel when I'm wearing pants with a band that goes right over that area of my waist.
Though some say that the placenta placement has a lot to do with feeling early movement?
@eleven_ I’ll be watching. I know he’s gotten a bad rap but Colton is one of my faves. He’s from Illinois so I have to watch!! I’m in for a separate thread.
@wearyfuzzball@sparklingdiamond@antera23@Dcwtada@runyogamom@ki1244@harrierwife (I think I got you all!) Thanks for the well wishes and non-judgment. Logically I know these things happen but the mom guilt is REAL! Thankfully it's looking like no cast (for now). We follow up with an ortho on Friday and I'm HOPING he's better by then. I know when I've tweaked my ankle it's a few days before I'm able to walk normally so FX that's all it is!
Re: Weekly Randoms - 12/17
Like wtf morning sickness I thought we had our shit figured out.
Oh and wtf crusty leaky boobs...already
@harrierwife i have been enjoying large glass of ice with 7 up some OJ and grenadine.

But yes, the disparity between baby “sizes” is comical. I can’t even take it seriously anymore lol
Anyone know when the 2nd trimester officially starts? I thought it was at week 13 but the what to expect when you’re expecting book says week 14. I called it at week 12 haha
Hard to believe we’re in/near second tri!
I'm 14w on Wednesday. This train needs to slow down.

Night, all!

Okay... random thoughts completed.

Is anyone planning to watch The Bachelor? I want to start a thread when it starts, but I don't want to be talking to myself in there.

I'm 16w tomorrow and seem to feel movement a lot for like 1-2 days and then not again for 4, which messes with brain.
